About this house rental
Dear Visitors, due to the COVID crisis we are at present sadly unable to accept any bookings for 2020 until all travel restrictions are lifted and we have received clear operating guidance from the government and County Council. We are taking bookings for 2021. Kindest regards Built in 1875 and positioned in the hub of residential Penzance, within easy walking distance of 500m from the seafront and town centre, Longnor is perfect for families, friends and couples, being a great mix of spacious period property and contemporary comfort. This grand old lady still has a twinkle in her eye and has now been sympathetically renovated throughout while retaining all of the charm, character and warmth you would hope for. Encompassing the top 3 floors of the house, the granite front steps lead to the ground floor. This comprises a generous inviting sitting room with two deep comfy sofas, made for kicking off your shoes and climbing up into and a large imposing decorative fireplace . There is a family sized TV and DVD player plus an eclectic collection of DVDs to choose from for all age groups, essential for keeping the younger members of the party entertained when a morning lie in is called for. Should there be any musicians among you, a glossy baby grand piano sits waiting in the bay window with sheet music supplied. The light and airy dining room also has two sofas in which to catch a quiet moment before heading out for the day, or to relax in with a pre dinner drink. The well equipped kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven. It leads onto a private raised deck area, a real suntrap and perfect for a morning coffee, soaking up the rays. A little pack of essentials (including a drop or two of wine) will be standing by to welcome you on your arrival. If you intend on having a complete holiday, Longnor is located within easy walking distance from a whole host of dining options, from critically acclaimed restaurants such as The Shore, to takeaways serving the freshest fish and chips possible. The choice is yours. On the first floor are three bedrooms, one with a super king size bed. The other equally large room houses a vintage French double corbeille bed, period armchair and chest of drawers plus a window seat. The third bedroom on this floor is a bright single room. A large family bathroom with freestanding bath and huge shower services the three bedrooms. It is also home to the laundry cupboard complete with washing machine. The top floor is a luminous loft style fourth bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The room is furnished with three single beds. Two of the beds can be joined to make a super king size depending on your requirements. The room also has it’s own cosy TV area and sea glimpses over the bay to Newlyn. Due to the number of stairs, this room is unsuitable for children under the age of 5. Outside in addition to the raised deck, there is a staircase leading from it to the walled garden area for alfresco dining and a BBQ. This garden also has side access from the road so you can bring your surfboards, bikes and wetsuits in with ease. Longnor is our family home, painstakingly restored over a number of years and now ready to welcome visitors in the summer months. While every effort has been made to make the house as comfortable as possible, it is not a 'new pin' but relaxed and loved without a coffee machine (cafetieres yes, machine no) vegetable steamer or table mats. You will find fresh flowers, art by local artists and a wealth of original features to make your stay enjoyable. Regrettably due to the number of stairs in the property, those with limited mobility may find staying here difficult.

This is a really beautiful period home, exquisitely decorated whilst being very comfortable (the beds are amazing) and having every comfort and amenity. The hosts are on site so if you need help they are there but not invasive at all.
Really great location right night to Penlee Park and a short walk to both town and sea front. We found Penzance much nicer than expected. Loads to do and see and good pubs and restaurants.
The surrounding area has soooo many delights just a short drive away.

Lovely house and guests, a real treat in a beautiful Victorian villa with some tasteful artwork and furniture, all it missed for the genuine feel were some servants!

Such a beautiful and spacious home to use as a base to explore Cornwall. Stunning art work on the walls and all the perfect little touches in place to make your stay the best it can be. Easy walk to the beach or through the park to town. Jo and Mark made the whole process very easy. We would highly recommend this property and we would love to return one day

A lovely property close enough to all amenities to be able to walk to the town, the shops, the fish and chippy(!), the beach, the promenade, Newlyn for Jelberts ice cream and even to Mousehole I’d you’re feeling energetic! No problem with parking outside the property, and Johanna stayed up late to see us into the property late on our arrival after congestion on the roads caused us a 2hr delay.
House well appointed and clean, spacious and all appliances you could need and want.
The deep bath is also a wonderful addition to the lovely bathroom to soothe after long days walking and exploring and the shower is great too, good pressure.
Beds comfortable and bedding all cotton and super comfy.
The garden area was fantastic for dinner outside every night, and the balcony deck by the kitchen perfect for breakfast and coffee in the mornings.
There’s a little bit of perfection for every need!
A wonderful property to call home for a week - certainly was a home from home. Thank you for a great holiday!

Wonderful Property
Two of us spent a thoroughly enjoyable week in this wonderful period property (called Longnor) set on the leafy west side of Penzance.
The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, and tastefully decorated and furnished, giving it a luxurious and relaxing ambiance.
The owners had thoughtfully provided a lovely welcome pack on our arrival, and fresh cut flowers in each of the beautiful public rooms.
The beautiful Penlee park is just 2 minutes walk away and provides access to the town centre in 10 minutes.
Bus stops for easy travel across Cornwall are also very close by, making travel by car unnecessary.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Longnor either to a couple looking for a base to explore Cornwall, or as somewhere to spend a break with extended familly. It would suit either purpose admirably.

Beautiful house, good location
Worked really well with adult children as lots of space, easy parking and mainline station in town. The house was gorgeous and very easy to live in - sea front walks, tennis and supermarket all very close. Lots to do in Penzance and around; recommend the boat trip and deli in Mousehole. Johanna is very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful house
Longnor was the most beautiful place to stay - it was spotlessly clean, well resourced, brilliant location and Jo and Mark were helpful in every way. The one thing we were slightly worried about before we arrived was how easily we'd park two cars every day, but we got spaces right outside the house virtually every time. We really can't recommend it enough and if/when we come back to Penzance in the future we will certainly be back here!

Wonderful Holiday Home
Absolutely loved our week here! The house is even more beautiful than the photos suggested and the artworks and fresh flowers made it feel even more like a home-from home.
It was a pleasure to come back here after our trips out and the general area around the house is full of gorgeous Victorian architecture. The rooms are all so spacious and the beds super-comfortable.
Our children loved their rooms - we barely saw our teenager for the week as the attic room is more like a suite, complete with its own en-suite, sofa and TV.
Lovely sunny patio for breakfast or coffee, a beautiful garden area and everything you could need for the stay.
Managed to park on the road very close to the house on every occasion.
We saw Jo and Mark nearby several times over the week and it's nice to know they're at hand if you need them - and we can see why they fell in love with the house!
Lots of great places to eat close by - would recommend The Mexico Inn at Long Rock, Alverne just down the road in Penzance and The Bridge at Newlyn.
Would highly recommend staying here - and we'll hopefully be back in the future.
Thank You for sharing your gorgeous house with us Jo and Mark!

Penzance in August
Delightful spacious house where everything worked. The decor was elegant with original art work in every room and generally the rooms were a pleasure to be in especially the sunny dining room for breakfast.
The owners were approachable and friendly. I would have no hesitation in going again.

May Half Term 2019
The house is cool, calm and comfortable; tastefully and subtly furnished. The rooms are all welcoming and relaxing and the whole house is a pleasure to be in. Lovely bathroom and great second storey ‘studio’ hideaway, perfect for teenagers to escape from parents. Well-equipped and spotlessly clean, everything was provided. Johanna was welcoming, helpful and very accommodating. A really lovely property.

This was a fantastic house to stay in - 3 kids thoroughly enjoyed it, my teenager even got his own space at the top of the house. All loved tickling the ivories. Very welcoming and great location.

Simply the best
Jo’s house is without a doubt the loveliest, best equipped and most comfortable house we have stayed in. Its location was also perfect. It accommodated two families easily and the teenagers loved their bedroom in the loft.
Jo was on hand with help and advice and wonderfully welcoming. We will be back!

Relaxing Stay in a Beautiful Property
Our group of eight (5 adults, 3 children) had a wonderful week-long stay at this beautifully restored home that is welcoming, comfortable and spacious. Johanna is gracious and always available for questions. The kitchen is the best-equipped we've ever seen in a vacation rental property with every convenience needed to prepare meals and enjoy them at the large dining table inside or the family table in the garden.
The garden is a private, peaceful delight. One of our favorite evenings was spent in the garden drinking the wine Johanna provided in the welcome basket.
The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable with excellent linens and towels provided. The bathrooms are as pictured with lovely finishes.
Rarely have I stayed in a vacation rental where the reality far exceeds what is shown in the pictures, but Longner has fulfilled and exceeded what I expected. I hope to return to this wonderful property. Thanks, Jo, for a special week for our family!

Beautiful house & a week of sunshine - what’s not to like!!
We were met by Jo who showed us around her beautiful & very spacious house. It had everything that you could possibly need & more.
A welcome basket of Cornish goodies was a lovely surprise.
We were out almost every day & saw Lizard Point, The Eden Project, Lands End, St Ives, Padstow, Falmouth and had a good wander around Penzance.
A lovely base from which to explore Cornwall.
We hope to return!

Fantastic!
We had a fabulous week at Longnor and were made to feel so welcome. The house was spotless and we were left a beautiful welcome basket which was such an unexpected welcome! We had two children with us under 2 and the house was such a fantastic space for them to potter around. My husband also enjoyed the piano so much and it was lovely to have music in the house with sunshine coming through the window. Would love to come again! Thank you :)

Wonderful property and very welcoming owners would have no hesitation recommending.
All that it said on the tin and more.

Outstanding
So good I would prefer not to tell anyone about it so that I can keep it to myself, but that would be unfair to others.

Amazing property and fantastic owners!
This has to be the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in. The house is huge and in a good location - 10 minutes to the front and the town and a lovely botanical park 3 doors away with a great kids play park. There is a corner shop 5 minutes away and lots of large supermarkets at a short drive.
The house itself was immaculate, comfortable and very tastefully decorated with original artwork in every room - the photos just don't do it justice! The little breakfast terrace off the the kitchen was a real sun-trap for breakfast in the mornings and the larger dining area in the garden was very well set-up with BBQ and roomy seating for 8.
The owners live in the basement flat with separate access and garden and were extremely welcoming and always happy to help (but we didn't see them unless we wanted to!)
The house felt more like a family home than a rental property with good quality fixtures, fittings and furniture and there was even a welcome pack of biscuits, proper coffee, milk and fizz when we arrived!
I can't recommend this property highly enough as a base for exploring the area and having real home-comforts when you're tired on your return. It would be really cosy in Winter as well - the weather turned colder towards the end of our holiday and we put the heating on to take the chill off and it warmed up very fast.
Thank you Johanna and Mark for allowing us to stay in your lovely house - even if only for a week!
