location and food is great. Spa massage is great too. Gym is OK. staff are friendly and ressponsive at all times.
they were very budy in my visit - 2 days out of 5 I had no towles in the room and the AC unit was not working throughout, despite attempts to fix it.
3.5
Great hotel with very nice and welcoming staff. Breakfastbuffe is delicious and I like the hotel, been here before and will come back.

Location was good and the house keepers and door men are loyal and hard worker. They are very friendly and great customer service skills.
Front staff lack customer service, I am not sure it’s personality issues or management don’t give them flexibility to work with customer needs.

Hotel at the heart of Bole- excellent location.
the bathrooms plumbing is problematic- needs attention.
3.5
Fair stay
Failure of airport transfer on arrival.
3.5
Good breakfast , large rooms
The airport shuttle is never there at the airport whatever they will tell you. This is based on several trips you have to call the hotel to get it sent and wait 15 mn.

Staff was exceptional!
Building requires renovation and extermination of roaches.

food was great!
had to change room 3 times the first 12 hours to have working wifi( which rarely worked:(.. and properly working AC
Front reception was rude, insisted I owed more money than I was told the night I checked in and paid in full.
The last night they called me twice st 9 pm telling me I had to go down to reception now and pay them. I finally disconnected the phone.
3.5
excellent restaurant
instead of paying the $126 I was quoted on the site,
I was charged $216 which could not be refunded. I was therefore upgraded to a deluxe room to compensate the difference. Unfortunately there was no hot water and the jacuzzi wasn’t even operational.

Nothing
Excessive noise. The property is located next 2 night clubs. They checked me in a room facing the night clubs even after I requested quite room. The bed is uncomfortable, aged bed frames where the mattress is not straight. Even after I requested the bed frames be fixed, they were never fixed. The rooms have a foul odor and dated. The spa is not working and what you see for hotel facilities is false advertising. The receptionists need lot of training on proper customer service. For 70 dollars, I would rather stay at Ramada or other international branded hotels where they have to keep certain standards.

I did not like anything about the Saro Maria (SMH). For context I stayed here in 2016 and at that time the room was the same. However, a fantastic breakfast and nice restaurant for dinner made up for that. The staff at that time was very nice save for security. Perhaps Covid has dealt a severe blow to Saro Maria but the other hotel I stayed at did not have that problem. I feel the owner of SMH does not care anymore so the manager does not care and thus the staff does not care. Details below.
The bathroom was bad. Water came out of the sink in a tiny weak stream. The shower sprayed water all over due to a poor fitting gasket in the shower head. The bath/shower has a big window that allows viewing from the bed (!) and a moldy roll down blind in case your partner does not want to watch. The shower curtain drops into the tub and still does not prevent water from going all over the bathroom floor. The Wi-Fi was unusable at night and super slow during the day. The breakfast (see above for 2016 reference point) was very disappointing. Fruit juices and milk were not on ice. I ordered a machiatto because the coffee in the urn was like paint thinner and the young man continued to chat with his friend and 15 minutes later a machiatto showed up. The selection was maybe 20% of what it was in 2016 and everything seemed old. The breakfast area also the restaurant for dinner used to be run with great efficiency. Now no one cares. I did not bother with dinner because it looked almost abandoned.
The final point was the price. I paid $110/night despite similar hotels being available for $70-90 but I went with SMH based on memories. Maybe at $50-60/night SMH would be fair but at current price it is an over priced wreck.
