Stayed there for only 1 night. The room had no windows(very dark), shower head was broken and didn't work, floors were not fully cleaned(some blood stains were seen).
Sea view was partly (for the same price there are better options)

An amazing place for vacation on this island. Besides the fact that the location is excellent, everything the hotel provided was amazing and exactly as it was described before booking. The staff here is one of the nicest and most helpful I've ever met, they helped with everything with smile. In addition, there is a restaurant-bar located on the beach with a variety of excellent food (!), surfboards, kayaks and more. warmly recommended!!
Thank you!!

Great folks and great food on this beach front place.

All the staff were very helpful. As I don't rent motor bikes as a rule they organised my moto taxis for me as requested.
The beachfront was screened off due to constant strong onshore winds and storm activity being the rainy season. Bungalows with sea view had no sea view. Some bungalows were being renovated. From my beach walks it appeared a number of beachfront resorts along the beach were closed altogether for the low season.
Fortunately, I had booked a villa with garden view. It was clean and spacious. Plenty of shelf space and hanging space in the wardrobe. Lighting was okay. No power points beside the bed. The oscillating ceiling fan kept the room cool enough. I did note that Booking.com states a mozzie net and sockets next to the bed are provided in villa rooms but not in mine.
The salt air had caused a problem with the door's locking mechanism but the manager soon got that sorted out.
The outdoor bathroom was large. It only had cold water but there was a sign saying hot water was available for 200 baht per day. I enjoy my warm showers but being solo I could not justify the additional cost.
The restaurant overlooks the beach and has an extensive menu. I had an english breakfast each day. For dinner I had spring rolls, fried rice with seafood and the kebab meal twice. I enjoyed all my meals. Only three types of fruit shakes were available but they were all good.
Be aware the southern half of the beach is plagued with sandflies. I got hammered but I carry cream which helps to heal the welts and minimise itchiness.
The standard moto taxi fare between the pier and the resort was 80 baht.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

I had such a fantastic week staying here! The staff were so friendly, kind and welcoming. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of different seating options, and has a nice variety of delicious food, including Mediterranean dishes. There are some games to play, books to read (I especially enjoyed "Elanor Olifant is Completely Fine"), hammocks and sun beds to chill in, kayaks & surf boards to rent (and instructors available, too!), volleyball and other sand toys for kids to enjoy.
It was so relaxing with the bungalows being under the shade of tall trees. The entire atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful, and the bungalows are nicely spaced from each other. I enjoyed my outdoor hammock, and the room was so comfortable. The fan was more than enough to keep me cool, and the outdoor shower was quite enjoyable too (for an extra fee, you can opt for hot water, but I didn't find it necessary).
Honestly, the only thing that I noted was that the toilet seat could be replaced (but I was okay with it).

Perfect location, and super friendly staff. Food was also amazing.
Limited drink options and I would prefer if the bathroom drain was covered.

My wife and I spent two nights at the resort in a Junior Suite. The location is stunning - on the beautiful and clean beach of Ao Yai. It would be hard to find a better place for relaxing, swimming and enjoying sunsets. The staff - limited as tourists have not yet come back due to the pandemic – is super nice and helpful. Koko, the manager is doing a fabulous job at making her customers feel comfortable and well taken care of. The food is excellent and relatively inexpensive.
Our bungalow (Junior Suite) was quite spacious and met our needs although it felt a little bit worn out, with an open air bathroom that easily fills with leaves… and a few (non aggressive) bugs. Hot water comes at an additional cost. Power is limited and does not allow for a fridge, hair drier, etc. Wi-Fi is only available in public areas.
Overall, most of our time was spent outside, exploring this amazing island and enjoying the resort / the beach / the relaxing atmosphere. It will definitely be a choice when we come back to Ko Phayam later in the year.

Good food in the restaurant, wide and nice beach, good localisation, reasonable prices, comfortable beds. Everthing around is fine but the ACCOMODATION itself is poor.
You must know The Beach Front Bungalow is a basic style one, no hot water, insects inside inculding cockroaches. To avoid turn on the light at nght in bathroom.
You may say this is a nature-stale accomodation but would expect at least 1 cleaning service or toilet paper/shampoo/water/towels top up/change over 5 nights stay. Nothing like this.

I have had the amazing pleasure of being a guest here on several different occasions. As a world wide traveler Bamboo Bungalows stands out high and above for 2 significant reasons - a fantastic location and an amazingly friendly and competent staff. This combined with consistently great food makes it one of my personal favorite world travel locations. While the owners are very chill and engaging, KoKo the facility manager consistently tends to all of the travelers needs from transportation, fielding questions about this lovely secluded part of Thailand - and by being the #1 hostess to server genuinely delivered with a huge warm heart and a beautiful smile. I always will be returning, Patrick, from Santa Barbara.
