Great place to stay when riding the Shimanami Kaido

Great little guesthouse deep in the island. If you're doing the Shimanami Kaido, this place is around 15KM away from the main track. You need to cycle up a hill to get here, I didn't find it very difficult (I'm a beginner cyclist). Depending on what type of traveller you are, this can be a pro or a con. I loved it. Appart from the staff in the guesthouse, no one in the neighbourhood speaks English, but that adds to the charm. The room has all the amenities of a regular hostel. They also provide towels. There was a kitchen and laundry facilities and everything was tidy. Nearby points of interest are a sea water onsen (sadly closed on Wednesdays), an interesting abandoned Shrine at the end of the pier overlooking the bay, and a Okonomiyaki shop run by an old lady. The food was very good and cheap. There is also a supermarket but it closes around 7pm. I would definitely stay here again if I'm repeating the Kaido.

Great little guesthouse, even got discount tickets for the nearby onsen and amazing local restaurant reccomendations. Thank you very much :)

The host made a great effort to bring games for the kids and the room was clean.

Upstairs the room and bathroom were basic but clean.

The common area was dark, cluttered and not available for use. The kitchen was not clean and was very cluttered.

Pleasant

Our host were really friendly and helpful (especially for takyubin services). The room was comfortable enough for a night and the the guest is well located.

There was no elevator to bring our heavy luggages to the 2nd floor. There was no key to lock our room. The common kitchen was really small (barely enough for two people).

best cheap place in the middle of Shimanami Kaido

charming rustic guesthouse right on the road. no trouble finding it whatsoever. great place to stay in if you’re planning on breaking up Shimanami Kaido into two days (like I did and completely recommend doing). best of all, it was right next to a konbini! also, they sell vegan friendly western food! I’ve been looking for coconut milk in Japan for ages and finally found some!

Very good

A good spot to stay while doing the Shimanami Kaido. There's a few shops nearby to check out as well. Take the bicycling route through Oomishima Island to get there!

The check-in time is a bit tight so be sure to keep an eye on the time especially if you're bicycling there. The rooms have a lock but you will not be given the key and won't be able to lock your own room while you are out, but there are lockers available. Despite their page and message saying they did not provide towels to guests, we were given some to use. Perhaps confirm with the property beforehand.

Sound choice for cyclists

Ideally located in the heart of Ōmishima. Well priced for a one-night stopover during the Shimanami Kaido.

Beds uncomfortable at a time when you probably want something a bit more supportive.
