Die Lage ist und der Garten sind sehr schön
Donegal House ist in die Jahre gekommen und es müsste dringend renoviert werden, wir waren vor acht Jahren schon mal dort und seitdem wurde nichts verändert

Beautiful grounds, friendly helpful staff, good food.
Bed and pillows could have been more comfy and no air con or fan.

Location was pretty and peaceful
The tv was too high and couldn’t see it from the bed and was uncomfortable watching it when sitting on the couch and the wifi didn’t work down our end

Nice place to stay in Kaikoura. The bedroom was clean and confortable. We came a little bit late for the reservation and the staff was very accomadating.
The wifi didn't work in our room.
You don't have privacy if you let the curtains open (only a big window open on the parking).

Really friendly staff, restaurant was amazing.
A tight squeeze for 4 of us but that's not the hotels fault - the room would be perfect for less people.
4.0
Friendly staff, cleaness of the room, towels replaced daily.
There wasn't a place to leave the keys when office is closed. We left before 8am, office was closed, and not clear indication where to leave the keys at chekout time.

Outdated -needs updating. Bed needs replacing.

The room was clean
The restaurant and bar are closed but this is not mentioned in the booking information. The double bed was sunken on one side. The electric fan heater was so loud it could not be kept on to sleep.
The breakfast is stated to have fresh fruit and Croissants but it was tinned fruit and no croissants. Very pricy for this accommodation.

Wanted to have the Irish experience but Sadly nothing at all we were very disappointed not at all what was advertised Definitely NOT value for money!!
No restaurant open No Bar open room untidy holes in ceiling and walls the grounds have been let go, nothing like it was as advertised. It should say that there is no operating bar and no restaurant open the price charged was not at all worth it very very disappointing would not recommend at all.

We didn't end up staying, due to thinking there was a restaurant and a bar.
Which they had, but was not operating, due to having no chef, and after having a Google, the owner has had his liquor license taken off him. This was very disappointing, the place from the outside looked very run down.
So we decided to book else where.
Everything. Very disappointed.

Owner very friendly and nice. Place was clean and comfortable. Gardens looked amazing.
No hot water for shower. We expected a cooked breakfast but was only toast and cereal options.

Nothing
Everything. The room smelt damp, the grounds were overgrown, and unwelcoming. I highly suggest not booking at this place.

Nothing
The restaurant and bar were advertised as open, upon arrival we found out they haven’t been open for a long time, host was drunk when we rocked up and he was drinking in the morning when we left. He also didn’t give us the wifi code and he was impossible to call due to poor reception, and impossible to find. There is no reception office, you just gotta go find this drunk guy.
I saw a spider too (VERY large)

Nice views. Early on it was quiet.
A rugby group arri Ed Saturday and drank, yelled and we did not sleep at all

We didn't actually stay there when we discovered that the restaurant and bar were closed as the manager/owner had lost his liquor licence
No restaurant and no bar open

Only the room, but they can cut the hedge in front of the rooms
Arrived to see a sign that no dinner will be served and the pub was closed. Never let us know and it was a Saturday so we thought we would have an Irish experience. They said they lost their licence.

Nice countryside location, nice gardens, good views.
Comfortable bed and good shower.
Discovered on arrival that kitchen and bar were closed, different members of our party given different stories about why closed.
Virtually no Wi-Fi.
Very basic self-service breakfast.

Exploring the gardens and the friendliness of the staff. There was live music too and the meal we had was delicious.
Nothing! We liked everything.

Gardens were nice
Room wasn't the cleanest, no cell phone reception, beds were very uncomfortable, not allowed to bring your own alcohol, the veranda was shared so people walking/scootering past woke you up very early and they could see in as the curtain didn't close properly, very expensive for what it was! We booked two nights but left after the first. Also quite confusing to check in as the signs don't tell you where to go if your a hotel guest.

Fantastic welcome, as we were warmly greeted. Great restaurant the food was true to the Irish theme and delicious. Easy cycle into town for any touring activities, love Kaikoura.

we stay because the food and restaurant is fabulous. great atmosphere with the roaring log fire. all female staff there are very friendly.
the entire property is in urgent need of upgrading. rooms very dated and basic. only 2 tv channels, basic tea/coffee/amenities. gardens are overgrown. feels more like a backpackers than a hotel.

friendly atmosphere
price too high for age and style of property.

Drinks and Dessert
No Hot Water in the shower so had to have a cold shower and when we checked out and mentioned it to the owner he was not convinced until we told him to come and have a look for himself. A refund would have been appropriate. We certainly will not be staying there again.

Friendly staff, good location , great to have accomodation right there
Accomodation was comfortable , however dated and some general up date maintenance , including grounds would make it a great stay. Feel was higher priced than facility reflects.

Dinner was very enjoyable and well presented. Breakfast was enjoyable and plenty to choose from. Our room was clean and tidy.
The shower had no soap recess which meant there was no where to place the soap, shampoo or flannel plus the exhaust fan didn’t work. The toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet properly and therefore moved every time one used it.
