About this house rental
This seven-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom house was built in the 1880s and is well maintained and beautifully appointed. It underwent a $1,000,000 remodel in the late 1990's. Its a perfect balance of 19th-century decor and furnishings making this a unique space for a vacation getaway. Our two-story Victorian home sleeps up to 15, but is spacious enough inside and out to host a family gathering of 25 for a most memorable event. Additional fee may apply for a gathering of over 15.
Upstairs there are two suites with Cal King beds, one Queen bedroom suite and a connecting Jack and Jill bedrooms with a queen and two twins. Downstairs there is a Queen suite with a handicapped bathroom and a King suite. In addition there is a Full size futon in the separate TV/Media room. The house boasts all new high end Sealy Posturepedic mattresses and new luxurious linens.
Overlooking downtown Truckee, Mt. Rose and the clear, cool Truckee River, the Richardson House sits centrally among world-class ski resorts, golf courses, and abundant fishing and outdoor activities. There is no shortage of activities to engage in while you experience the Tahoe lifestyle.
This rental's downtown location makes it easy to walk to coffee shops, boutiques, museums, restaurants and nightlife.
Inside the house, the professional chef's kitchen is great for entertaining. Boasting two sinks, a new six-burner commercial Thermadore range with hood, And a second Thermador Oven for those that love to cook. New two door 42 Inch KitchenAid fridge and plentiful counter space. The kitchen was newly remodeled in 2023.

This is our second year in this house and the 8 of us completely and totally love these accommodations. We will return for a third year and a fourth and a fifth. It’s perfect for a small business meeting like ours. The gazebo is our night time gathering spot. The Weber BBQ fit our needs and the kitchen is so well equipped we could feed a crowd.

Stayed here several times and it never disappoints. Fabulous location…..beautiful house and property….has 8 separate rooms for sleeping including 6-7 bathrooms and wonderful new kitchen with thermador appliances…..has everything and more.

This is a gorgeous property. The detail work, hardware finishes, and decor are of the Victorian era and magnificent. It is very well-appointed too. Luxury beds and bedding. The kitchen was a chef's dream and we were all able to work in there together to prepare dinners together.
From the start, our communication with the property manager Jeannine was 5-stars. She followed up with every detail to make sure we were comfortable and offered us insider tips on how to best enjoy the Fourth of July weekend that we were there for. We were four nights and enjoyed having en suite bathrooms for every couple and the spacious dining and living areas were nice to share space. We did not use the parlor/game room or the gazebo outside too much. We were on the go during the days. It was sweet to sit on the beautiful front porch in the rocking chairs and chat over coffee in the mornings or the afternoons, with an adult beverage, and watch the town go by just below us. All in all a very special experience. Our family group of about 12 of us has rented multiple times every year or so to get together. Mostly in Rocky Mountain resort towns, but we loved the small town-friendly vibe of Truckee, and the beautiful home that we stayed in this time surpassed the other properties we have enjoyed in Colorado.

We loved our stay in truckee. Each bedroom was tastefully decorated, with ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen was stocked for any cooking or baking needs! We made a carrot cake and cupcakes for my daughters wedding. The location is ideal for a quick walk down the street to downtown truckee. Thank you Jeannine for a wonderful, memorable stay.

This Victorian has been completely remodeled and updated with all of the charm preserved for a step back in time. There is ample room for everyone to gather together, including a large dining room table for truly special meals with family and friends. The bedrooms are comfortable and unique in their own way and allow privacy when wanted. The proximity to Truckee is an added bonus. We unreservedly recommend this beautiful home.

Second time/second year in a row that we stayed at this property for President's Day weekend. The Richardson House is amazing in. Property was very clean. Kitchen is fully equipped and seems to have brand new state of the art appliances (I do not remember if they were the same last year, but I have they impression they are brand new). Great for large groups of families, plenty of space for everyone. Very close to Truckee center (accessible by foot). Would definitely stay there again!

Absolutely loved our stay in the Richardson house. The place was spacious and had everything we needed — kitchen was very modern and had all well equipped, hot tub was great, rooms were clean, etc. The check in process was seamless , and Jeannine was responsive and helpful for anything we needed. 10/10 recommend and would come back.

Walk thru history with modern amenities!
My friends and I had a great weekend staying in this awesome mountain Victorian! Pictures do not do justice to how cool this house is! Spacious, and perfectly decorated, with 9ft doors and 14ft ceilings! Our group of 8 had a very comfortable stay. Jeannine, the host, was communicative and checked in just the right amount. She knows the Truckee area very well, and even set us up with a private masseuse! Location is perfect, walking distance to the Truckee historical down town. We will be coming back! Thx!

Beautiful Home - Best Location in Truckee
Wow, do yourself a favor and book this home. An IMMACULATE historic home built in 1887, a block away from downtown Truckee. You are a 1 minute walk to the best coffee shop and restaurants the town has to offer. The home itself was even more impressive in person than on the listing. The home is in near-perfect condition with numerous original accents from the 1800's. The wood paneling in the entry way / up the staircase is all original and of incredible craftsmanship. There is a massive dining table that allows large groups to congregate for meals. An amazing outdoor space includes a fantastic 4-person hot tub and a covered gazebo. The front porch has 4 rocking chairs and overlooks downtown. The home has a very warm energy and we all felt comfortable and welcome.
Jeannine was incredibly helpful with the check-in process and any other questions we had. Her husband, Bob, stopped by at check-in and was extremely friendly and warm.
We had a large group of 13-14 people and this is the only home I found that doesn't break than bank yet comfortably supports such a large group.
This is probably the most positive home rental experience I have ever had.

Beautiful house with a lot of character in an ideal location
This is a historic mansion from the late 1800's, beautifully refurbished with modern amenities, while retaining character and charm from both the house as well as its furnishings and decorations (lots of historical photographs!). The kitchen is perhaps the best stocked (in terms of cookware, appliances, etc.) of any I've seen on VRBO. Every bedroom has a bathroom. There's a nice outdoor hot tub. Good WiFi.
The location is 20 minutes from world class skiing. And, 1 block from downtown Truckee, for non-skiers and apres ski.
Jeannine was an ideal host. Professional, punctual, communicative.
If you have a big group, who like to cook, but also ski and explore a cute small town downtown, this is an ideal spot.

Epic Family Christmas Holiday!
The ambiance and charm of The Richardson House cemented our family Christmas holiday! Family members young and old reveled in the festivities. Seven bedrooms and private bathrooms added to everyone's comfort. Large kitchen and large well stocked kitchen encouraged large dinner gatherings. Games galore for the children and adults too. The children played in the snow and sledded right in front of the house while we watched from the rockers on the front porch. Our hosts were super super hosts! We sadly returned to reality at the end of the week knowing we would be back for another epic week soon!

Birthday celebration getaway
Perfect getaway for a large group! The history of this home is amazing. This beautiful old but remodeled Victorian was exceptionally clean, well equipped and our host Jeannine, was most accommodating and responsive. We were caught in a widespread power out and she was there to ensure we had what we needed to carry on. The Victorian is in the perfect location, walking distance to town and close to hiking trails as well. We intend to go back. This group highly recommends this accommodation!

This magnificent landmark did not disappoint. We had it all. Plenty of space, private bathrooms in the bedrooms, hot tub, beautiful views, walking distance to town, well appointed kitchen, and a very gracious host. What a treat to be able to book the whole place to ourselves. Part of me was hesitant to leave a review, because if word gets out, this place is going to be hard to book later, but the other part of me knows that sharing is always best :-)

As advertised the house is very large with 6 1/2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Beautiful clean beautifully restored Victorian with high ceilings, large common areas, great hot tub, well appointed kitchen, front porch with rocking chairs etc etc. We will definitely be back. You won’t be disappointed.

Family Time
Our group consisted of 5 couples for a family getaway. The house was perfect for us as we each had our own comfortable room with private bathroom. The kitchen and dining room provided great space to enjoy meals at the house. We also barbecued one evening and loved the outdoor gazebo and table. The house is within walking distance to town and a short drive to Donner Lake which was fun and convenient.

Old Town Truckee
We recently spent a weekend at the historic Richardson House in downtown Truckee to celebrate a family birthday. With 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, we were thrilled to find that no one had to sleep in a bunk or on the floor! This house is beautifully furnished and extremely well stocked with everything you could possibly need, including a cabinet full of spa towels. Pride of ownership is evident throughout. The dining room table easily accommodated our large group. And the location is awesome - easy walking distance to old downtown Truckee. The owner was also very accommodating and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful Large Home in a Perfect Location

Beautifully decorated Victorian mansion with wonderfully comfortable beds, modern, well-supplied kitchen. Large dining room table that accommodated a large group of friends. Sunny porch with comfy rocking chairs - perfect for putting up your feet after a hike. We (a group of 12) all loved it.

Perfect for our group!
Beautiful home and everyone loved it here! Nice to be able to walk into town or along the river without having to get in a car. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfy and the hot tub was the nicest we have had in the 35 years our group has been renting homes! Huge dining room table seated us all for meals Thank you Jeannine and Bob!
