About this cabin rental
Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area or 10 minutes to Rochester. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 200 movies. Architect designed and built, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 20 mins to Sugarbush, 30 mins to Mad River Glen or 45 mins to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. nearby, too. Perfect any season!
NOTE: Pets are allowed, but there is a $30 fee for the additional cleaning and wear. Please check the box on your reservation request or contact the owner. We also ask that you pick up any land mines and keep them from barking excessively.
WINTER 4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter AND good SNOW TIRES. "All-season" tires are useless in the fresh snow, especially on the hills. The town is very good about plowing, but the hills can be tricky during snow storms and many people have had to get towed. A sand barrel is provided by the driveway for when extra traction may be needed.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING TRAVEL INSURANCE. If you are prevented from taking your trip because of a covered reason, such as a sickness or injury of yourself or a family member, Travel Protection can help reimburse 100% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs that you would otherwise lose when you cancel.
NOISE: Although the cabin is very private and other homes may not be visible from there, sound travels a long distance. We ask that our guests be courteous and not play loud music, especially at night. We are fortunate to have great neighbors and want to keep it that way!
SIZE LIMITATIONS: The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. We have a FIVE person maximum. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin, but large parties are not allowed.
CAMERAS: We have a pair of "Ring" video cameras which overlook the "public" exterior and give us piece of mind if cabin sits empty for extended periods. It also serves as a means to contact us in the event codes/keys are forgotten, etc. As is the law, there are NO interior cameras or any in private exterior areas (hot tub, porch, patio, etc.). We respect your privacy and will provide an image of what is in their field of view upon request.

If you’re looking for rest and relaxation this is it. You are one with nature at this cabin which has everything you need. Host was very nice and accommodating. Plenty of yard games for the family and trails to explore. Hope to be back in the future.

We loved a prior stay at the Little Loft cabin, but booked the Romantic Retreat this time when availability matched our dates. Although not as new, it's very well kept and a delightful place to stay. It's private, with an excellent hot tub and a yard with fire pit, volleyball court, cornhole and tetherball. Could comfortably house a family of 4-5. Jeff is a gracious and attentive host, who immediately took care of fixing something that wasn't working upon our arrival. We enjoyed a midsummer visit - I'm sure it's terrific in ski season too!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway to recharge amidst a busy summer schedule. The host Jeff was on site at arrival as he had wanted to be sure the hot tub water was clean and everything was in working condition. He happened to be around later when there was an issue with the projector and he was more than happy to help. The bed was very comfortable,, and we slept well amidst the passing rainstorms. Kitchen had everything we needed to fix our meals on site, and it was nice having some extra condiments on hand. The house was very charming and very user friendly for outdoor sports, with a big mid room for our wet gear. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this property/host! Hope to visit again soon.

We had a great time during our stay. Everything was clean, well labeled and instuctions were easy to follow. Alot of the extras we packed just in case we wouldnt have had to worry about as they were already provided. We had fun with the outdoor games during the day and enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We would love to go back and stay again!

My spouse and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary, so we went to NYC and then here. Highly recommend. Excellent relaxation place and the owner even sent us a bottle of champagne for the anniversary!!! How above and beyond expectation is that for a VRBO? If you are looking for a place in VT, definitely recommend here and we intend to bring the kids back as well. Great property!

We so enjoyed our stay in this cabin in the Mad River Valley! The place had so many amenities-hot tub, movies and wide screen, cloth napkins, fire pit, directions on how to use all the appliances step by step. All details were thought of. The Cabin Guide book to all the attractions and activities in the area was fantastic. The spiral stair case was narrow but we were able to navigate it well. The main bedroom was very comfortable. The second bedroom with loft was a little warm but the fans were all a great plus. Great place and we appreciated the great communication with Jeff and easy check in. So much to explore in this area, especially if you like mountain biking, skiing, hiking, swimming, and super, quaint small towns with fun and delicious small restaurants!

Jeff is a wonderful host and his gorgeous cabin could not have been more perfect for our family. The cabin was full of thoughtful, unique touches that made it feel like home. The kids loved the projector for watching old Warren Miller movies (in July no less) and the hot tub was excellent after a day hiking. The bedroom layout is perfect if you have kids. Our 11 year old loved the "cubby" bed and the window seat downstairs became a favorite spot for our 16 year old. Wonderful experience all around! Don't miss the trials out the backdoor of the cabin for a slower paced stroll!

From the very start when we booked Jeff’s cabin, he was a gracious, responsive, and generous host. We were looking for a low-key cabin in the woods with a hot tub and what we got was so much more: everything you could ever want in a Vermont cabin has been thought through, from the lofted bedroom to the cast iron pans to the dog dishes to the cozy furniture to the movie projector. The property is absolutely gorgeous, and soaking in the hot tub at the end of a day exploring is not to be missed. Thank you, Jeff, we will be back!

The cabin is beautiful and very cozy. I would definitely stay again in the future. Maxis is a great place to eat breakfast. If your planning to cook yourself make sure to get meat and anything else you want on the way as everything is at least 20 minutes or more drive.

My husband and I are primary care givers for mom w (98) and mom r (97). We escaped to this cozy cabin to be ourselves with our books, music and lots of great food. It was perfect! Snow showers daily kept the scene fresh and beautiful. The hot tub is a bonus—especially on a snowy afternoon! And our dog loves the woods. We’ll be back!

The cabin is awesome, very welcoming and well laid out. The amenities are great and the host was great and super easy to work with. Jeff did recommend four wheel drive to get up to the cabin and he wasn't kidding, especially when it's muddy. We will definitely be back again.

This Cabin has everything you could possibly need for the perfect escape from the day to day routine.Wonderful kitchen for cooking, super comfortable beds and a hot tub perfectly placed to enjoy the stars without all the light pollution that’s everywhere. The perfect use of space makes it all the more comfortable and was very thought out. Added bonus of half bath upstairs where the beds are was very convenient. The host was incredibly nice to deal with and super attentive to answer any questions very quickly. Can’t wait for another opportunity to visit this gem.

Family of four stayed here for 3 nights for a winter break ski vacation. Great location for flexibility in finding good snow conditions. Off the beaten path - not a crazy busy ski town... Unique property with fun hot tub and theater for the kids. Host provides lots of helpful details and was very responsive.

We enjoyed some rest and relaxation at the cabin!! The hot tub was great seeing views all around but still private. The projector screen was great too-we watched the superbowl on the 6ft screen!! The coziness of the cabin was perfect with the right amount of space. Loved the campfire pit too!! There are a ton of great places to check out anytime of the year-cabin has lots of maps and books on things to do in the area!! We will definitely be going back. My one friend is thinking of going to the two person cabin with his wife this summer!! Thanks Jeff for sharing your cabin with us!!

My husband, 2 month old, and big puppy enjoyed our short stay in this cozy cabin. The hot tub was perfect and the trail was so great for our dog to run around off leash. The windowseat was the perfect place to read. The house was equipped with every thing we needed. Would recommend as a little getaway.

Jeff’s cabin is an absolute dream, it is everything you’d imagine when you think of a cozy cabin in the woods! I spent most of my weekend snuggled up on the window seat right next to the gas stove. My husband enjoyed the location because he had several choices of mountains for some weekday skiing. Our dog loved the trail right outside of the back door that brought you through the woods to a wide open field, he was in his glory with all the snow to play in. I tried snowshoeing for the first time thanks to the pair at the cabin, it made walking in the snow so much more enjoyable. Each night we ended the day by stargazing from the hot tub. It really was the perfect getaway, we can’t wait to stay again!

This cabin really exceeded what was advertised Despite poor weather that delayed outdoor winter activities for a day, we found no problem in watching movies and playing board games until the weather cleared. Within a short time we felt right at home. Looking forward to having an opportunity to visit again!

This year we decided to go away for Christmas, and we were so glad we did! This was our second visit to the cabin, and we had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed Sugarbush, a hike at Texas Falls and walks on the trails around the property. It even snowed on Christmas Eve! This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday, weekend, or longer. And plenty to do nearby! We look forward to returning to the cabin, a cozy spot that has everything you need! Thank you, Jeff, for making everything easy. Happy new year!

I’m not normally the type to write reviews on rentals, but this one was too good not to. The host, firstly, is so responsive and gives you all the tools to make it the best stay possible. He has a full on website with all the possible experiences, places to eat, hikes (they even have a hiking trail in their backyard that has little lamps guiding you - our dog LOVED it). They also have heated mud room and bathroom floors which make SUCH a difference in the winter. The place was so cozy and cute, along with easy to follow instructions for quite literally anything. It almost made it hard to want to leave for day trips. Also the projector quality …. Unreal. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful cabin :)

My third time staying in this cabin and my mother has stayed even more times. Cannot say enough great things about Jeff and his properties. He is attentive, the cabins are safe and clean, and his property has so much to explore. Hot tub is a great bonus after a long day too. Cute and quiet town. Beautiful waterfalls. My dog never wants to leave!

Jeff’s cabin is exactly how he described it in the listing. It was perfect for a 3 night getaway for me, my girlfriend and my dog. The spiral staircase can be challenging for a pup but carrying ours up and down was easy.
We lucked out with 8 inches of snow the night we arrived. Driveway plowed by 9:30am if we needed to go anywhere. Cabin was comfy and stayed perfectly warm with the cold temps. We took a quick snowshoe walk on the beautiful property and I would recommend doing this if you have snow. We will be back!

Had a wonderful time here for my honeymoon. There isn’t much nearby, but a good 35-1hr drive can get you to a lot of the touristy places in Vermont. The Cabin was beautiful and the hot tub was an awesome touch. I would recommend it to anyone.

The cabin was even better in person, if that even sounds possible! We wanted a day of nothing but relaxation and that’s exactly what we got - reading in the nook by the fire, plenty of movies, everything we needed to make yummy treats, and the hot tub. We had the best time.
