The property is in a prime location on Lake Champlain. We brought our own kayaks and access to the lake was easy. The house was stocked with everything we would need and the hosts were very attentive. Helpful Info was provided on activities and shopping in the area. One suggestion for future guests is to bring reading lights, since lighting in common areas was rather dim.

This property was a camp for sure. There was 6 adults in our party, really not comfortable for 6 adults the upstairs loft had no door & very little room to stand up & would be ok for children. The week was hot with no air conditioner we were very uncomfortable. The camp was very dark with hardly any good lights could not even read a book .Not one door shut tightly to close, this camp needs some work. However the location was great on the lake & the views were beautiful.

Perfect place to reconnect with old friends and remember good times. Cozy accomodations. Easy beach access.

We are originally from upstate N.Y., so when I found Annie’s listing and saw the photos, I knew it was perfect for us. Indeed it was, from the location in Essex where we found unique shops and galleries to ice cream stores and funky bars with perfect water views! We were hooked after being at the original camp where Annie shared history of her beloved summer home. The kitchen had everything……each room was styled in the true Adirondack style….comfortable beds and a sweet secondary cabin for additional guests! Thank you Annie for your beautiful place on Lake Champlain!!

Perfect summer camp rustic vibe. Great location for a quiet week with family.

The house was a comfortable stay. With great areas around the house such as fire pit and screened in porch to visit. 5G Wi-Fi and full fridge, kitchen and microwave.. The cabin is like going back to the lake camps of the day, airie, open, big yard and close to town!

The cottage was rustic but incredibly cozy and exactly what we were looking for as a weekend getaway. The place was exactly as advertised and more. We will definitely look to go back.

Our family loved our stay! We had 7 adults total and our dogs. Beautiful view of Lake Champlain. House was rustic and was the perfect place for our family to stay. Private and close to town and the Ferry to Vermont. Annie and her husband were wonderful hosts. Highly recommend.

Yarrow Cottage is a wonderful step back in time in which you all have all you need: the view from the porch, the lapping water, the mountains in the distance, room for friends and family, great sleep and peace and quiet. The hosts and neighbors were also perfect. It was hard to leave and I look forward to going back.

The main cabin sleeps 5 with 1.5 baths, small cabin in back sleeps two with a full bath. The view of the lake from the front screened in porch and additional outside deck was lovely! It's a short walk across the quiet country road to the shared dock and beach with Adirondack chairs provided by the water. Water shoes are necessary, as the beach is rocky. There is a large yard with room for lawn games, a fire pit and charcoal grill. You will find the quaint little town of Essex two miles north. You can take the tiny ferry with your car or walk-on to Vermont (It takes 35 cars at a time). Three or four lovely restaurants are near the ferry, a couple of gift shops and ice cream shop. Just wonderfully off of the beaten path. You will not encounter big crowds, which was just our style. The owner was incredibly responsive and took care of a couple minor issues rapidly. The beds are luxurious, comfy mattress and plenty of bedding for the cool evenings. No AC is provided, as it's not necessary unless it's a heat wave. There were plenty of fans provided.

Clean, Comfy and Convenient
This house was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of space, very clean, and well-appointed kitchen. Annie was easy to communicate with and the little details that she paid attention to were very appreciated. Having fire wood and toilet paper and dish soap on the first night of vacation is so convenient, but not every owner is as considerate. Plenty of sheets, pillows and towels are provided, which is another luxury in the ADKs. We loved the screened-in and front porch! Thanks, Annie, for a wonderful stay!

Idyllic Stay in Essex
This cottage was everything we hoped for. Set in a beautiful location on the Bay, we spent our days kayaking, eating on the beautiful screened in porch, and relaxing by the fire. Annie was a wonderful, communicative host. We would absolutely recommend this stay!

Rustic Cabin- Shores of Lake Champlain
A very quaint and cozy cottage with a breath taking view of Lake Champlain. There is tremendous access to many attractions in NY with nearby ferry to VT. We would stay here again!

Relaxing stay on Lake Champlain
We had a relaxing end-of-summer stay at this charming and rustic cabin facing Lake Champlain. Annie was very accessible as needed and more than accommodating. Highlights of our stay include kayaks rented for the week from Indian Bay Marina (pick up and delivery) and the paddle to Split Rock, farm fresh groceries from Hub on the Hill, anything on the menu at Dogwood Bakery, and the hours spent relaxing on the porch with family.

Very nice
Very nice time in Essex using the rustic cottage and spacious property as our home base for the week to explore VT and get in some early summer stand up paddle in Whallons Bay. Auper close to the ferry. Amazing views of Camel and Mansfield. Evening fires out back with S’mores for the kids capped each night. Fresh air was great. Will be back for sure, hopefully many times. Thank you.

2nd x's a Charm
2nd time visiting Yarrow Cottage and thankful nothing has changed. We were Wow'd the 1st time. The cabin is just charmingly rustic without lacking anything one might need. The empanini press, as my 9 yo renamed it, was especially welcoming. You feel like you are home without being at home. we experienced the entire property from the camplike loft with beach towels decorating the railing and serving as flags while they dried remembering the day. The fire pit in the rear of the yard, the log framed, screened porch. I even was able to enjoy some swing time. The front deck served as our breakfast spot. The lawn for our tournaments. THE LAKE!!! Magical spot for us. The local freshness from all the farms is just delicious. Ferried to Burlington for a day. We were able to dig in immediately upon arrival. Only thing is i'd like to spend more time there. Way too short as vacations typically are. We'll be back.

Great lakeside getaway!
This lakeside cottage and detached studio were perfect for our family of 4, relatives and friends. Everyone had lots of space and a variety of activities to enjoy the week-long vacation. We would definitely rent this property again.

More rustic than described
The shoreline is 300' feet away from the main house . The cottage is finished but the "camp" is bare studs with some windows barely being held in place. There is as stated no heat or cooling. During our stay we encountered a mouse running around the ceiling of the living room which went on for 20 minutes and other mice viewings and droppings in the kitchen. A bit much to take for the cost involved per night.

Perfect Getaway!
Annie and Red were fantastic hosts and helpful when needed. The location is great and the views of Split Rock were welcome at all times. The place itself is a rustic cottage with a great feel and huge yard both in the front and back. The separate apartment was great as well. We really enjoyed our time and there was room for everyone to have space if needed. The star watching from the dock or back yard was top notch! Everyone looked forward to daily Ice Cream runs into Essex, we hiked Split Rock and went Mountain Biking in Elizabethtown as well. Highly recommend!

Perfect Week on the Lake
Everything about my trip was wonderful: the weather, the cottage, the view of the lake and the hosts. Highly recommend!

Lovely Lake Champlain camp getaway
My family of four plus two grandparents rented the camp for a week hiatus. We loved the camp! The weather was traditional New England summer with a few VA heat days thrown in, but the many fans served us well. Easy access to the town (and people) if we wanted; easy to slip into solitude when wanting to. Having the laundry facilities onsite was helpful as well. Would definitely come back!!

Great stay
Essex is a great town and this is a great little Adirondacks cottage. Annie took good care of us.

Great Escape.
Quiet and Cozy. Wasn’t hard to relax and un wind. Nice views. Friendly environment. Access to waterfront deck was very limited with little time to enjoy that space unless very early in the morning or very late in the evening. (Small deck with several people sharing same space) Otherwise, anything that came up was handle great by owner and it wouldn’t be hard to say we would like to stay there again.

We had a wonderful time. The place was exactly as described.
This was a great get-away spot for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay with great ambiance. It was perfect for fishing, swimming, bike riding, taking a walk and of course swimming. It was just what we looking for. Thanks Annie and Red

Picturesque Whallon Bay
With beautiful views of the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain, the cottage is situated on a quiet road with an expansive yard. The home is rustic, just as we wanted and expected. The screen porch and outdoor area provided plenty of relaxing opportunities and the beds were comfortable with many windows and fans to let the cooling night air in.
We would definitely recommend Yarrow cottage to anyone that enjoys the mountains in a laid back, rustic setting.

Another wonderful week at Annie's!!!
Our 3 generations, plus grand dog, had a great week at the Lake. It's nice to return to the same place and great to be so near the Essex Ferry. Annie is very hospitable, with extra beach toys, linens, new WiFi this year, and the separate grandparents' cottage. Hope it works out for next year.

We enjoyed sitting on the outside deck and also the screened in porch. A very pleasant stay all around.

spectacular setting
We enjoyed our stay very much. The rustic cabin suited the setting, and the lake is steps away. The lawn was perfect for our croquet games. We enjoyed being close to Essex and Westport to visit their restaurants and marinas.

What a beautiful spot
This was a perfect house! We spent most of our time on the back deck, screened in porch, or in the water. The kitchen is very well supplied and the proximity of the Essex ferry makes trips to VT very easy. This is on our short list of places to return to.

Charming Solitude with Everything we needed
Let's begin at the beginning- Make a left into the stone cornered driveway and follow the royal pine line on your left for a short calming entrance into your little world away from where you came for the duration of your stay. Children are bursting with excitement as they scream from the car to inspect their new abode for this years vacation. Our first time here both in Essex and on Lake Champlain. So much to initially absorb as you enter the most charming little cabin we've rented to date. The kitchen is rustic but well appointed with everything you might need to fix any meal whatsoever. The dining room and living room are very comfortable. But the screened tree formed porch is like sitting in a tree house. This room is magical and served as the main gathering place when inside. My 6 yo would not rescind to any other sitting plane other than the hanging swing. Upstairs reminded me of the cabins i stayed in as a scout while growing up, only with real beds and blankets instead of cots and sleeping bags. There are so many windows to allow air to travel through the entire cabin that there is no need for air condition or even fans. Fans were provided however. The half bath upstairs provided a convenient secondary bathroom for 5, especially while the shower downstairs was in use. There is much usable space outside with a fire pit on top of the hill. We were able to play frisbee, throw a football around and of course circle up for some hackey sack. The front lawn sprawls for a great view of the lake which is a very short walk and across a very quiet road. We ate on the front porch nightly. Family bonfire on the beach was much fun. The cottage served us well as there was a queen size bed for myself with a private bath and separate kitchenette which we really only need to use for cabinet storage. The lake is majestic and rising sun to the East was a terrific alarm clock. Although we were already up and rose with it from the docks edge. Essex is a cute little town with some of the friendliest humans we met. Be sure to enjoy a glass of wine On The Dock at the waters edge. Ferried into Burlington for a day to get some city in- our kind of city however. You'll see if ya haven't been yet. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and fully intend to visit again next year so please- don't take my week. P.S.- The owner was proximal and very attentive to anything needed and with great suggestions for things not to miss. Enjoy!!!!

A great and cozy cobin
This place is lovely - the screened porch is a great place to sit and look at Lake Champlain, and the studio bedroom is charming and comfy. The house was in great shape and even the kitchen knives were sharp, which is a small but awesome thing for a rental home.

A wonderful spot for a 3-generation vacation!
This is just as charming as it looks, inside and out. The front lawn has a view all the way to the Lake (with a quiet country road barely visible). Lots of space for reading and playing frisbee and chasing butterflies. The kitchen is well-equipped; we had brought our own crockpot for easy food prep. Lots of bedding and big towels, and places to lounge. The grandparents loved the separate small cabin right across the deck...just big enough for them, with a full bath and the W/D. We appreciated the hospitality of Annie and her family. Location was good, about 2.5 miles north to the Essex NY/Charlotte VT Ferry...and the Essex Ice Cream Cafe. And then on to the Village Meat Market ,only 4 more miles north, which also has groceries at fair prices.
Thanks again for an idyllic stay.

Great, and flexible vacation cottage(s).
We had a wonderful time staying here this past week. We had extended family for part of the time and just my husband and myself some eves. It accommodated everyone and was well equipped. As the sun moved around we would gravitate from the beach to the lawnchairs to the outside deck and, finally, the screened in porch (our favorite spot)! We wish the water had been higher as the lakefront is very rocky and water shoes are definitely needed for rocks and zebra mussels (no fault of the owner's, however)!

Lovely quaint and rustic cottage with Beautiful lake views a large yard.
We had a hard time leaving this beautiful spot. The owners were more than accommodating and the amenities of the cottage were perfect for our family of four and could accommodate up to seven.

Great rustic cottage on Lake Champlain
This was a very nice and well stocked cottage. The grounds were well maintained and you felt very secluded even while in view of the lake. The screened in porch was especially nice and the kitchen was very well stocked with all you would need. The towns of Essex and Willsboro are nearby and there is a ferry to Vermont that you can take from Essex. the owner was very helpful with any questions about the area also.
