The house is charming, comfortable, and well located with a wonderful front porch. Plenty of room for everyone, clean, and close to downtown and the beach. Well stocked with everything we needed.
3.0
I recently stayed at this house for three nights. The location is excellent—just a 5-10 minute walk to downtown and the canal boardwalk. The house is old, with uneven floors and squeaky spots, and steep stairs to the upper level, which could be challenging for those with mobility issues.
The layout has some drawbacks: one bedroom is next to the kitchen, making it noisy for kids, and another seems to be a converted dining room. Beds varied in comfort; one was particularly uncomfortable due to a plastic mattress cover.
The small kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and cookware but lacks spices, oil, and vinegar. The kitchen and bathroom could be cleaner. We were also asked to start a load of laundry with towels and remove sheets and pillowcases before departure, which was unusual compared to other rentals.
The AC units worked ok but quite loud, and light switches, outlets, and fans were sometimes tricky to figure out.
Overall, the price seemed high for what we received, though we did book last minute. Despite the quirks, the location was great, but we’ll likely choose another place for our next Grand Haven visit.

Awesome Location with plenty of room for family!

This was the second time we stayed here, and it was probably the best experience we’ve ever had at Grand Haven. The house was charming and comfortable, with plenty of room for everyone. The front porch was a focal point of our stay, as we spent most mornings and evenings sitting in the shade. It was a few blocks from both the river and downtown, so we could walk everywhere. We will definitely be staying again,

We have been here a week and have totally enjoyed our stay
We are staying here for another week. We had family come for a week, from Massachusetts, and everyone had a place to sleep and room to roam. There were 5 adults and 3 teenagers. It’s a charming home! Close to everything!

We loved the location. We could easily walk to the fun Downtown section and also to the Riverwalk, pier & lighthouse, & the beach! The house was great. We had the upper & lower stories because we were so many. Two bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 sitting areas and a wonderful front porch! It was well stocked with everything we needed. Even local coffee and specialty soap. We loved it! 😊 We would stay here again! Thank you!

Great Location
We had a great experience at this property. It had everything we needed. The location is just a short walk to many shops and restaurants. It is a cute older home. Be warmed though if you have any mobility issues this house will not be the best option and definitely don't use the upstairs. The old house was very un-level with some tight corners, but it didn't effect our group or our stay. Would recommend!

Great stay with minor issues
We loved our stay and would mostly recommend this location. We do have 2 complaints. First, the bed in the front room on the first floor was incredibly uncomfortable. I almost wish I had given the pull out couch a chance instead. Secondly, the fans in both bathrooms did not work. It was still a very nice visit though.

Great property within minutes walk of downtown
We stayed here with adults and 7 year old kids. There's a great park just minutes from the house called Imagination Station. Literally two blocks from great shops and restaurants downtown, and the neighborhood is super cute. The house was great, loved the bedrooms and the washer/dryer especially with kids. Kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed. I will say though, light sleepers may have some trouble depending on where they are sleeping. The bunkbeds on the bottom floor are very creaky, so if you have someone who has a hard time falling asleep and someone who tosses and turns, could be an issue. Also the floor creaks a lot, so if you have someone sleeping on the couch and then someone gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, could be an issue. (I'm a very light sleeper so I notice these things, but I was lucky enough to sleep in the bedroom.) I didn't spend time upstairs, so I can't speak to that, my sister was up there. But I will definitely rent this property again the next time we go. Also, the owner was kind enough to let us know we left some things in the drawer and she is going to send them to us.

Home Away From Home
This comfortable, 2 apartment home was perfect for us. Each couple had their own space, and yet sharing was quite easy. Downtown shops and sights were a short walk away. We would be happy to stay here again.

3rd time staying here
This was my third time renting 214 S. 2nd St! The past two years have been with friends, this year was with family! Its a perfect location just 2 bocks from downtown! My only warning is this year there was a neighborhood cat that would come around and try to get in the house! Its very friendly and while sitting out on the front porch she will jump in your lap, but be careful she turns in a blink of a eye and will bite you!!! My 76 year old mother got bit twice! The first time she was rubbing up against her then turned and bit her leg! The second time the cat jumped up in her lap and wanted my mom to pet her, then after a few minutes she turned suddenly and bit her on the hand and broke skin! She is fine, but of course you worry about possible infections and diseases since she is an outdoor cat. I'd just hate for a kid to be bit!

Adorable House in a Great Location Close to Downtown
My family and I enjoyed our stay here. The house was in a beautiful quiet neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Grand Haven. We enjoyed exploring the neighborhood full of historic homes, walking in town, and on the pier. The house itself was clean, beautifully furnished, and stocked with with nice amenities (the gourmet coffee from Fortino's was much appreciated).

Enjoyable stay - all we hoped!
This charming, comfortable home is in an ideal location for walking into town and along the boardwalk to the pier to see the sunset. As others have said, the porch is a wonderful attribute and a great place to gather and relax! We found the house extremely clean when we arrived.
The kitchen was well stocked and the laundry conveniently located in the kitchen. We ate in (as our daughter has food allergies) and used the kitchen a great deal. It had many utensils and a great supply of silverware and the refrigerator had an ice maker. We bought a couple disposable 13x9 pans for a casserole and warming meatballs/sauce in the oven but had everything else we needed.
The house had a wonderful supply of quality linens including ample towels, kitchen towels and pot holders, extra blankets, etc. There were also thoughtful extras like bar soap, pump soap at every sink, extra toilet paper, trash bags and laundry supplies.
Our college aged son loved the upstairs apartment which was also well appointed. The window AC unit in the kitchen kept the upstairs cool and comfortable for sleeping he said.
The upstairs apartment has a table with seating for 4, the downstairs kitchen has a small table with 2 chairs and there is a picnic table outside for eating and gathering. There is a tablecloth, clips, a tray and utensil holder for taking items outside for eating.
The weather was nice when we visited with highs in the high 70’s and low 80’s and the window AC units in both bedrooms did a good job of cooling though the kitchen could become warm. During times of hotter temperatures, the house may get warm, but we didn’t experience this.
Check in was extremely easy and there was a well organized concise list with important information. The owners were available when we had questions and couldn’t have been nicer or more patient. We had a lovely visit and wouldn’t hesitate to return!
If you see the sweet tabby neighborhood kitty sleeping on the porch, we named it Jerry!

We loved this house!
The house was spotless and beautifully set up. And the owners provided even the small things like facial tissue - if you rent vacation spots regularly you’ll know that’s not common. The very short walk to shopping was so nice. We tried out Kozak’s, Toasted Pickle, & Mr Scribbs - all yummy! Our whole family enjoyed our stay & this house.

Had two beautiful weather weeks!
Above I said the weather was great but those window air conditioners Did not do the job! The back yard really needs cleaning up. The kitchen was so hot to cook in and no kitchen table to gather at. Only two chairs with the tiny table. The front porch was wonderful in the morning, but really needs some tlc!

Another great stay in Grand Haven!
We really enjoyed this rental. We rented the lower unit and the upper unit for our trip. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We had one maintenance issue with the house but it was quickly resolved and did not affect our vacation. That is one of the perks of having the owners live close by. This property was close to town and water front. We had 6 in our family (5 adults and 1 10 year old) plus my sister and brother in-law joined us for a night. We all had plenty of room. We would definitely rent this house again.

Great Stay in Grand Haven
Our extended family has been coming to Grand Haven for decades and we absolutely love Grand Haven! Jim and Sheila have a great property in an ideal location for us (walking distance to everything!). We stayed in the lower unit and it was incredibly clean and well appointed for our family of 4. The bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom are a nice addition for our kids. We are already looking forward to renting the unit again next year!

Cozy home in heart of Grand Haven
This house has everything we needed for our family getaway from everyday life. It was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. We walked everywhere and rented bikes for a day. Wednesday and Saturday mornings were the farmers market. Both breweries nearby were great and highly recommend Cumin a resturant near the Meijer. Thanks for all the memories made. We will be back!
