Visit the beautiful 180 acre public land conservancy with its 35 acre pond and beautiful views of the Catskills, only 1 minute drive from the estate. The scenic pond is perfect for fishing or kayaking.

This large home has many comfortable bedrooms, some very large suites. The kitchen is very well stocked. Our family had a wonderful stay. The pool was great, and a center of our enjoyment. Kids also enjoyed the game room.

Stayed here with a large group of adults and kids for 2 nights in June. The property was large, clean & comfortable & we especially liked the outside area & screened-in porch. Note: 1) the pool is unheated so chilly in the AM, 2) only 1 bathroom is unconnected to a bedroom & 3) two games in the game room require 50 cents per play.
Would not recommend staying here due to the high-maintenance host. She requires a 25 minute check-in tour to go over lots of little rules & property quirks. She also required our cell number and interrupted our already brief stay with nags and even tried to add an extra cleaning chore via text only the night before. There was zero flexibility about the 10am checkout while also demanding the property be left in "same or better condition", so we all woke up 7am to tidy up as much as possible, despite the deposit including sizable cleaning fees. Property also has an onerous garbage requirement (rather than being able to leave bags in a shed or garage connected to the house, bags must all be driven to the end of the long driveway on checkout day and if they don't all fit in the bins, extra fees are incurred). Do yourself a favor & book your gathering at a property with a host who actually wants guests to relax and enjoy themselves!

Laurie's property was absolutely perfect for our large group of 6 families, including 11 little kids. The playroom upstairs and downstairs are great, as is the outdoor playground, barn and pool. The bedroom layout is a little quirky but easy to manage. Kitchen is incredibly well stocked and easy to cook in. Laurie is very easy and quick to communicate with and helped to answer any questions we had about our trip. Would highly recommend for large groups!

We loved our stay over Memorial Day weekend. We were three families and fit well in the home with 6 adults, 8 teens and 1 child. Kids loved the pool (it's on the cool side with no heater). The landscaping on the property is so gorgeous. The home itself is very comfortable with many places to spend time together - our favorite is the screened in porch. The two master suites is neat with each having two bedroom spaces per suite. It would be great with a family who wants to have young children close by at night. Good hiking nearby. Great access to the Berkshires.

We had 4 families and grandparents all stay together for an unforgettable weekend at Bellavista. The house had enough space for us to hang out together playing charades in the great room, ping pong tournaments in the finished attic playroom, and making holiday ornaments at the large dining room table. There were also spaces to have quiet moments when you needed it...and we even enjoyed a beautiful hike at a nearby conservation area that Laurie recommended. The house was extremely clean, fully functioning, and well appointed with everything we needed...including making dinner on multiple nights for our large party.
The process for booking the house was more than I had ever experienced with rentals at VRBO (listing names and ages of all overnight guests for an insurance policy), but don't be scared off. Laurie is a great host who is very clear at communicating.
One thing to note that wasn't in the VRBO posting, but Laurie did communicate before we arrived was the two arcade games require .50 cents to play. The money is donated to a good cause.

We had a wonderful weekend at Bellavista estate! The house is very comfortable and well stocked. Laurie does a good job tailoring the set up to your needs. My kids had a blast exploring the huge yard and loved the playground and playroom. It’s very close to amazing restaurants and multiple town main streets. We also had a rehearsal brunch in the barn which was beautiful! It was a pleasure to work with everyone to create a special day. I highly recommend the property for large groups!

This house had the most fully stocked kitchen of any house I have rented for any of my summer family reunions in the past . You can cook or bake and everything you will need is there. The pool was a real plus and enjoyed by everyone as my grandchildren were ages 9-22 years. I loved the living room with no giant screen TV so we could read and relax. Plenty of TVs in the rest of the house.

This house was absolutely beautiful and perfectly reflected the listing. All of the bedrooms were quite large and comfortable, easily fitting our three families. The pool was amazing, but we equally loved the different spaces for the kids to play- rec room, arcade, barn, basketball, large yard, etc. Kitchen was stocked very well with dishes/pots/pans/seasonings, plus had plenty of empty cabinets for our groceries. Laurie was extremely helpful and easily reachable. The only down side to the house was that there is only a charcoal grill, no gas/propane- not a deal breaker but less than ideal in such a large house with great amenities (we did ask prior to our visit so we were prepared, and it was not a surprise). Overall one of the best houses we’ve rented over the years!

We had a wonderful 60th celebration with 11 lifelong friends. Our barn party was really fun. The house was enormous and plenty of places to sleep chat and laugh.
Laurie was very sweet and helpful all the way up to the weekend with calling and communicating. She followed up with wanting to return items a few of us left. The weather was rainy but didn’t stop the fun or the pool time. I would recommend this place for any family or friend event. Can’t even imagine how fun weddings would be here. Thank you.

Property was nice. However, dealing with the host was a nightmare. I had to contact VRBO several times. Problems: my check in time when I booked stayed 3 pm. Host made us do a walk thru at 3:30 with check in time 4:30. I repeatedly asked (many many months earlier) for an early check in. She wouldn’t tell me yes or no until the week of the stay- she could have told me no earlier. Secondly, she told me there would be a Gardner on-site on Saturday (full day of our stay). I asked her to push the Gardner until Sunday as that’s the day we leave. She ignored my request. After calling VRBO, she wrote me an email saying she thought my daughter was being married at the house- COMPLETE LIE as I had to sign an agreement stating only people on the rental agreement could be in the house. She is a horrible host and I don’t know why VRBO would want to work with a host like that. My daughter was getting married this past weekend and these issues needlessly stressed me out!

The check-in process was very smooth and the home was in great condition. The location is scenic and private and the property is stocked with all the amenities you could ask for. My family had a wonderful visit to Chatham , NY. The estate had lots of space and rooms for my children and grands. It was so spacious that all of us had enough room to be together or go to a game room. The estate was clean snd well appointed . The instructions regarding the home were received well in advance and were also at the house for further reference . The host greeted me in person and helped give us a tour so we would be able to help the other guests upon arrival . I know the property would be exceptional in the summer months , but the grounds were beautiful in November. It gave us special memories to always remember .

We had a wonderful extended family celebration at this beautiful property! The house had plenty of space for our intergenerational group of ten, which ranged in age from 10 to 80. The rec barn and video game room were huge hits with the teens and tweens, and the house also had a lovely first floor suite for older folks who prefer to avoid stairs. Laurie was INCREDIBLY helpful throughout our planning and connected us with a phenomenal private chef for a very special celebratory meal that we enjoyed in the house’s lovely dining room. The weekend couldn’t have gone better!

We loved our stay at this beautiful home, which had more than enough room for our family of 15 (3 generations). The property is gorgeous and very private. We had so much to do between the pool, the basement game room, and the barn. We had gorgeous weather so most of our days were spent at the pool. The kids found the penthouse attic to be a fun hideaway and loved having their own space to play/sleep. Adults had so many places to gather after kids were in bed. The screened in patio area and great room were favorites. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you might need. We had a small issue with the hot water at one point and Laurie had someone out to the property to service it right away. It was fixed within a couple hours! Everything went smoothly, from check-in to check-out. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend this charming home.

I talked about the facilities in last year's review, and I'm happy to say there were actually more things to do this year as more games were added in the barn. The maintenance was excellent with new mattresses, and even some areas of the house previously closed became available.
I appreciated some of the appointments this year that set this house apart from others. We had come to expect a random mixture of glassware in vacation houses; here, there is a complete set from wine to parfait, to tumblers and juice of sparkling glasses organized in glass door cabinets. We had a special family meal in the elegant dining room, and we were able to set an inviting table with matching settings.
I also appreciate active professional management. We had a minor plumbing issue and texted Laurie. She responded almost immediately and had a plumber at the house the next morning, working around our schedule.
This year we explored the area a bit more and found a wonderful collection of trails and wildlife at the William Powell Wildlife Sanctuary.

Wonderful Home for Family Gathering
Our family of 11 thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at Bellavista Country Estate. There was plenty of room to spread out and spaces to gather together. Even though the weather didn't cooperate, we are a game playing family, and we enjoyed all this home had to offer. The pinball machine was a huge hit, but we also enjoyed ping pong, air hockey, foosball, board games and croquet on the beautiful grounds. Our hostess, Laurie, was always accessible and attentive to detail and all our needs. It was a family getaway in the country that we would recommend to anyone!

Weekend Escape
The Bellavista was a great place to stay. My girlfriend and three college buddies and there wives had a fantastic time. The accommodations were fabulous. The home is lovely, quite and private. Laurie was a fabulous host and was there to show us the property right when we arrived. All of us had our own privacy and the property is a very comfortable place to hang out and relax. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a beautiful and relaxing retreat with lots of privacy and lots to do.

This property is beautiful and relaxing and had no shortage of amenities on-site and nearby to keep us entertained all weekend. The pool was wonderful to have, and the house is spacious, beautiful and well-maintained. Beautiful Stay in the Country
My extended family (grandparents, parents and kids) enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend at this grand country estate. The house is well equipped; we cooked in the fully stocked kitchen and the kids loved the games in the basement and the pool. The grounds are well maintained and great for short walks. Also, very importantly, the AC worked well in the house (even when it was 90+ degrees outside). Laurie was a great host - very responsive and easy to communicate with. We had a great time - Bellavista is truly a special property!

We had a great time staying here with our extended family. It had snowed and it was in the teens most of the time so we didn't get to see the property as much as we had hoped, but the house was perfect for the family.

Perfect long weekend at tasteful Bellavista Country Estate
We absolutely loved Bellavista. The home is beautiful and very well equipped, the art work is fantastic and Laurie was so accommodating and easy to communicate with that our stay could not have been better.
The Great Room became our evening gathering spot, well appointed and welcoming. We were well aware of our good fortunate to be able to swim in October and took advantage of it every day during our long weekend reunion.
The dining room remained abuzz with lively conversations, planning outings we never went on as no one wanted to leave the property.
Please be sure to spend some time gazing at the stars on a clear evening, it is magical.

The house and property are private, quiet and well maintained. There is something on premises for everyone in every age bracket.
The attic filled with toys and extra beds helped entertain a one and a half year old, a seven year old and a nine year old. The arcade room in the basement and the barn were favorite gathering places. The gym, complete with mirrors and a ballet barre, made my seven year old grand daughter so happy!
Many enjoyable hours were spent in the large pool and when it did rain, the kids happily had so many indoor options.
The rooms in the house are huge and comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. The owner was available to answer questions which were few in number on a moment’s notice.
We had such a good time that we reserved a week for this coming summer!

Great extended family vacation!
We had such a lovely vacation this summer at Bellavista Estate in Old Chatham. We stayed for almost a week with a multi-family party of 16 plus 2 babies. The house accommodated us so well. Everything from the 2 room suites for the families with little kids to the party barn, our family immediately felt at home and comfortable. The estate had everything we needed in the kitchen and the kids couldn’t get enough of the pool and the game room. So much fun! We also had a great time at the local restaurants and nearby lake that was great for the little kids to swim. We will definitely look into staying again! Also, Laurie was so helpful and understanding when the umbrella by the pool broke from a passing storm, and she went out of her way to mail back an item my nephew left behind. Highly recommend.

lovely for a large family getaway
We were 5 family subunits (total of 13 people) reuniting, and had a wonderful getaway at Bellavista in July. Plenty of room for all of us and just a beautiful estate. Relaxing together by (and in) the pool and on the patio (beautiful landscaping) and in the airy, spacious living room; kids enjoying the party barn; dining both indoors and outdoors; popping into town closeby... these are our favorite memories from a wonderful stay.

Great place, great host, pleasant experience
Laurie was great, she took care of our requests and even got us floaties for the pool for our kids. The home is beautiful surrounded by green, and we also spotted some deer on the property!

AMAZING STAY!
Wedding has not been easy for all due to obvious reasons. My husband and I decided to do a small celebration at Laurie's house.
This house extremely spacious & clean, and provide all the privacy you need. All our family & friends had an amazing stay at the property. Definitely will come back!!

Great place.
Very, very nice. Had three generations there and everyone enjoyed it. Lots of room, both indoors and out. Had a wonderful time and are hoping to come back in warmer months when the pool is open. Would definitely recommend this place.

Laurie was a great host! She worked to ensure that our stay was comfortable and was readily available to answer any questions. The ski resorts are close to the house and we had a great ski vacation.
