About this house rental
Welcome to our Summer House. We are in the quaint water front community of Slaughter Beach; located at the south side of the Delaware Bay. Our hope is that you will make wonderful, lasting family memories as we have done over the years. Come and enjoy the lazy days of times past with the backdrop of beautiful, color filled sunrises and quiet sun drenched evenings. The water’s edge is only 70 feet from our cottage and the gentle waves are perfect for children and grandparents alike.
From our living room savor the 180 degree view of the vast Delaware Bay. The summer house is fully furnished; complete with two bedrooms including queen size beds, one queen size pullout sofa, two full bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and outside shower. If you want more adventure bring along your kayak. During high tide enjoy swimming and fishing from the shore. During low tide wander the flats, exploring all the bay has to offer up close.
The recently renovated Cedar Creek Marina is only 5 minutes away. Here you will find beautiful boat ramps, easy on/off boat launch spaces and parking to accommodate large trucks and trailers. Spend the day or week boating on the bay, sunbathing, fishing or both. There is a small, one time fee for boating on the bay and may be purchased at Cedar Creek Marina.
Within the Slaughter Beach community, just a 10 minute walk away, a newly installed playground for children, pickle ball court and a small boardwalk that overlooks the marsh and its abundant bird life.
The Summer House is close to many Delaware activities and popular hot spots. Only 35 minutes south on Rt 1 you can enjoy the historic Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk with its popular shopping and hip dining. Or visit the historic town of Lewes with it’s small, old town atmosphere, unique shopping and restaurants. Lewes is home to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. Explore the southern tip of the Cape May, NJ peninsula with its boutique shopping and signature restaurants for wonderful day trip. Only 35 minutes north on Rt 1 you can enjoy the Dover Air Force Base & Museum, Dover Downs Casino or Dover International Speedway. Then return to Slaughter Beach to slow down and relax.

The view was great. Very secluded beach.

The cottage/ bungalow was just as described. Great amenities in the home. And the view, as you walk in the door, Is simply stunning! Home was very, very clean and I appreciated that so much!
Other positives: The closest town of Milford was only attend to 15 minute drive away with some surprisingly fabulous restaurants and an amazing movie theater! There’s a Walmart in town so finding last-minute necessities was no problem. My husband and I also recently started playing Pickleball and I was thrilled to see that there was a freshly painted pickle ball court just a 10 minute walk down the road. We also enjoyed a 10 minute walk to a little boardwalk in A nearby Marsh to watch the sunset one evening – what a delight!
Lewes Beach, about 25 minutes away in good traffic, Was a beautiful beach! And the downtown area had some pretty stellar restaurants And a charming downtown vibe. We also like to do indoor bouldering, and the gym in Rehoboth was state of the art with a small bouldering area as well as a climbing wall. That was a lovely find.
Overall, our week at the Milford property was just what we’d hoped it would be. Only downside was the drive down to Lewis and Rehoboth could be challenging on HWY 1 because of traffic.
And also on the upside – Jenifer was extremely responsive and usually got back to me within minutes of my sending a question. Very much appreciated that as well!

As always, the house and property were clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. This is our third or fourth stay and it never disappoints.

Very beautiful property and extremely clean! The host was very nice and helpful. This house is about a half an hour from the Dover Motor Speedway. We had tickets for the race, but wanted to stay somewhere outside of Dover with a nice beach vibe. This beach house exceeded our expectations. We especially enjoyed the walk way in the back of the house for immediate access to the sand and water. My fiancé, his farher, and I would all recommend this property!

Clean, well maintained, well equipped, all the comforts of home, plus the beautiful view of the bay. Quiet, yet not far from the hustle and bustle of tourist places and great dining. We had a great time and plan on returning.

This is our second stay at this property and it was as perfect as the first time. Unfortunately our stay was cut short by unforeseen events, but the place is just so cozy and inviting.

Best vacation in years! Just steps to the beach and oh so quiet!! Many restaurant choices just a short drive away. This slice of beach is a hidden gem.
The cottage was PERFECT! Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and very nice living space. We even saved a few horseshoe crabs. Can’t wait to go back!

Prior to this, my wife and I always made Slaughter Beach a side trip from Rehoboth to scout for fossils and kayak. This time we stayed four days and loved every minute! It is such a quiet and peaceful place and the house is perfect for reading, relaxing, and wandering onto the beach whenever you want. Great food and entertainment are only 25 minutes away in Lewes and Rehoboth, but you don’t have to fight traffic or deal with rowdy crowds. We never wanted to leave. The best alarm clock in the world is the sunrise shining over the bay and peeping in the back windows of the house.

The house was just perfect. Clean, beautiful view of the water. And the location, far from the madding crowd was just what the doctor ordered! Thank you, Jennifer!

This property was so perfect for what we needed!! Beautiful little cottage right on the water. Brought my daughter down to attend the 2022 Firefly Festival in Dover. I attended some of the festival, too, but also had downtime here at this “breath of fresh air” beach escape. Exactly what I wanted - to be able to sit and drink my coffee and look at the water. And the owner was very sweet, responsive, easy to contact. Thank you for a great stay!!

From booking to check out, Jennifer was there to help with everything in between. The house and property are beautiful, well kept and accommodating, this is the perfect relaxing get away for a family or group of friends. Slaughter beach is the perfect spot for a quiet vacation in a beautiful home, close to everything Delaware had to offer.

Once again, a wonderful time!
This was our second visit to the The Summer House and it did not disappoint. We had a terrific time and made incredible memories. The home was beautiful and the new front porch entrance was an awesome addition! We enjoyed hot days on the beach fishing and soaking up the sun. And the evening campfires on the beach can't be beat. Loved the solitude of the area. Jennifer was very easy to communicate with and we appreciated her opening up her home to us.

A wonderful place
We loved our stay here! The house was spotless when we arrived, the living room is full of sunlight and the path to the beach is right out the back door. The outdoor shower was a highlight for some in our group as well. We came for the horseshoe crabs and were very happy with how many we got to see and how easy it was to get to the beach. The only downside was the black flies, but we learned to read the neighbor's wind sock and figured out when it would be safe to sit outside. During buggy times we were happy to sit inside the gorgeous house with the windows open so we could still hear the shore birds and take in the magnificent views. The DuPont nature center was a wonderful resource to ask all of our horseshoe crab and other bay creature questions, nice that it was so close. I hope we get to return!

Special Getaway
Love this place. It's perfect for two couples looking to relax. You have the beach to yourself and it's just steps away. Perfect location for us, we prefer the quiet places rather than the bigger beach areas. Owners are very nice and have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable.

Relaxing week at the beach
Cozy house only a few feet from the beach. We had a perfect relaxing week there and caught quite a few fish off the beach (croaker, sea trout, dogfish, sharks). Good restaurants and breweries within 10-20 minutes. Would love to stay here again!

Perfect!
My family had a great, relaxing time at Jennifer's place. The beach was so peaceful and the calmer bay water is perfect for young kids. It rained a bit during our stay, but with the beautiful water views from the house, we didn't mind having to stay inside sometimes! The house was very clean and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed for cooking. Be sure to bring bug spray for sitting on the beach and water shoes if you plan on getting into the water!

Perfect...Exactly what we needed!
Our stay was perfect. The house was clean and perfectly situated on the beach for easy access to the sand and water. Our three kids (ages 2,8,10) had a blast surf fishing, swimming and exploring. Jennifer was easy to work with, friendly and prompt to reply to our questions. The quiet of the beach and the lack of crowds made for a fun and safe beach getaway that was exactly what we needed to refresh and recharge. The house was beautiful and its location was perfect. The memories made here will be remembered for years to come. Thank you Jennifer, for sharing your little beach paradise with us.

Beautiful House on Delaware Bay
The house is beautifully renovated, and well outfitted. It is right on the beach -- well situated for long beach walks and for viewing wildlife out the backdoor and in the region. I especially enjoyed the beautiful light and great view through the living room's many windows from sunrise to sunset. I hope to return some day.

A little piece of paradise
My family of four stayed here for three nights, and it was absolutely perfect. The kitchen is well stocked, the house was immaculate, and the views were unbeatable. It’s absolutely perfect. My husband now wants to retire here, and my kids were sad to leave. I can’t say enough good things about this place. We’ll be back.

Outstanding Cottage on Outstanding Beach!
This is a bright, beautiful, roomy cottage directly on Slaughter Beach. The owner is wonderful - responsive and helpful at all times. The home is immaculate and the property lovely.
Slaughter Beach is perfect for birding. During our stay (end of April), we saw gulls, terns, great blue herons, American oystercatchers, ospreys, and a variety of smaller shorebirds - all right from the beach in front of the cottage. And, of course, it is located close to multiple wildlife refuges.
The beach is very secluded and private. We rarely saw anyone on the beach; during the week we were there, we likely passed no more than ten people in total.
Slaughter Beach is a fantastic place for finding beach stones in an array of colors, many of which are polished smooth. We also found dozens of interesting fossils. As someone who enjoys making crafts with beach stones, Slaughter Beach is a dream come true!
I highly recommend this property - I would rent it again in a heartbeat!
