If you are looking for a lake house with private view on the lake - you will love it. Please be aware that the house is old, there is no dishwasher or washing machine for the laundry, there is no AC, no WiFi. It didn't matter to us. The owner left enough towels, it was enough for 4 people staying for 4 nights. Kitchen appliances are working fine. Overall it was very nice vacation. Not far away from park Acadia but private. We enjoyed it.

Checked in to find full garbage cans, and they were never emptied during our stay. Temps got into the 80’s during our stay and the trash definitely stunk. Had no hot water for the first 24 hours of our stay. Not sure what happened, but eventually was fixed. Location is great. The little beach was perfect for our kids (2 and 7). Enjoyed the fire pit right on the water. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space to hang out, but REALLY need to invest in new living room furniture. Chairs are very old and uncomfortable.
Liked that we were close enough to a gas station/convenience store if we really needed something. Used the grill - worked great, but was left very dirty and only supplied a scraggly old grill brush. No trash bags were supplied. Only a shower too, no tub, which is hard with a two year old.
Overall, good for the price. No difference to the kids which is all that matters….

Plusses: Quiet, lakeside, great for two people, fairly well equipped.
Minusses: Mile and a half on dirt road.

I wanted to really enjoy and relax, for the couple days I was there. The cabin was cute and clean. The location was beautiful. I would have given it 5 stars except, the water wasn’t working…which meant the toilet wasn’t flushing. When I first arrived, someone knocked on the door and said he was called to check the water. I knew nothing about it and was not informed of any issues before arriving, which I told the man as such. He asked to come in to check real quick and I said sure. He turned on the kitchen sink, which seemed to be working and he left. About an hour or so after, I discovered (after using the toilet) the toilet tank was empty and the water coming out of the faucet was a dribble at best. I contacted the support line via text twice and received the same message. They had contacted the local help and someone would be in touch. No one contacted me. I called the next morning to speak to someone and the woman said she has informed the local help and someone would be coming over in an hour or two to fix the problem(this was at 9:00 am). Meanwhile, the toilet, full of waste, brewed a little longer. A couple hours came and went, no one showed. I had planned on going to Bar Harbor to wander around, but thought I’d better stay put in case. Now it’s 2:30 and I’m running out of the water I brought, no bucket around to get water from the lake to try to flush the poo down and my insides were very unhappy and needed relief. So I left a note on the door saying I’d be bask ASAP, although it would take at least an hour, (20 mins to and fro, plus time to get water and use the public bathroom). I got back around 3:30… no one.. they had my cell, no call, no show. I had to buy 8 gallons of water to “flush” the toilet, using 4 then taking the empty containers down to the lake to fill back up and flush again, leaving the other 4 for drinking and dishes and washing and brushing teeth. So, not quite the experience I was looking for. Glad it was just me and my dog, otherwise it would have been VERY stressful. I made it work and left a note for whoever was coming in to clean that I did my best. Just frustrating that no one informed me right away, the guy didn’t really know what was going on either, then no one came to fix it when they said someone would…. Not sure I’d want this experience again.

It is an older cabin and has the "up north" charm. Great waterfront, great view from the living room. The water pressure is bad. Water spits and sputters, toilet gurgles and roars. We were very surprised/disappointed by this. At this price it should be better!

I wanted to give 5 stars. I wanted to be able to relax and enjoy my stay. I really didn’t expect much and was happy with rustic. However, no one communicated with me that they were having issues with the water. Which meant no flushing toilet. I would have been okay with that had I been prepared, or would have even been fine with a portapotty or outhouse but after contacting the support number and someone saying they would be getting someone there to fix it within an hour or 2 and me wasting my whole day waiting around for no one to show was rude. Luckily it was only me, had this been a family of 4, that toilet would have filled up quickly. Super disappointed and I feel like I should be refunded at least a day…

The lakefront was totally beautiful. Only 20 minutes to Ellsworth where you can get whatever you need, or go out to eat. Only 40 minutes to Acadia for some amazing hikes. It is a cabin so don't expect a luxury hotel, but it was very comfortable.

Property was very clean. All the appliances are in good working condition. Steps away from a very secluded dock and beach. Water is crystal clear and a few steps out you're over your head in the water. The water pressure in the shower was a little low, but having stayed at multiple Maine cabins this is to be expected. Both rooms have a fan with helped with some of the hotter nights. There is a TV, but we never turned it on. Propane grill was filled and cleaned. Plenty of pots, pans, and dishes in the kitchen. Overall a great stay. My wife, dogs, and I had a great time. Thank you - Shaun and Becky

The property exceeded our expectations, pictures do not capture how nice this place is. Brand new grill & toaster over was a nice touch, the cabin is just steps to your own private beach with fire pit. No Wi-Fi but good cell service. Furniture was what you would expect at a camp style rental, all in all the place was pretty clean and very enjoyable. Bring the bug spray and watch for ticks. It’s pretty a very wooded area which is to be expected so far up in Maine. There are neighbors close by but you can tell this is a lake where people respect privacy and keep the noise down especially at night.

It's all about the lake.
Cabin needs cleaning/dusting and a new refrigerator. Maybe some reading lamps. Otherwise, linens and towels are wonderful and bathroom is very clean. But it's all about the lake. A short walk and you're on the beach which is where we were most of the time. Had a good time.

If you're looking for an idyllic setting away from life
Charming cottage, very roomy. The appliances are dated but that's not really a deal breaker because you're looking to get away from it all, right? I would suggest that it does need more places to hang stuff. Nothing for your outerwear when you come in, no closets, bars, or much of anything except for a few hooks on the back of the bedroom door. It is about a mile and a half on a dirt road to get there but the road is well maintained. The Green lake fish hatchery is just a mile away and they have some great walking/hiking trails.

Nice cabin, but needs maintenance
Would have given this house 4 stars, but we arrived to the cabin with the septic overflowing and had to deal with the smell of sewage for 5 days. There was also a sputtering/spitting water system that made taking showers or washing dishes unpredictable. Staff came out to take care or both issues, but this meant 3 different days of waiting for repairmen and adjusting our plans. The beach area at lake was very nice and we spent much of our time there. The cabin was comfortable and had all the amenities we need. Albeit some items like the fridge and toaster could definitely be replaced. We did have an enjoyable time, but I would not book again with this listing.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable stay
This is a nice cottage with plenty of clean towels, clean house, good size shower with plenty of hot water. The furniture is dated, it is a camp after all so we expect that with this type of rental. However, we did not find the chairs uncomfortable. The beds seemed new and firm and comfortable enough. It is a short walk to the lake like one minute or less. Can’t really see much of the lake from cabin but a nice private sitting area by sandy beach and campfire with a picnic table near the water. We brought our own kayaks but my kids who came to visit for the day used the ones at cabin and found them to be easy to paddle. The grill although it works is on it’s last leg. It is all rusted out inside. You may want to bring a small portable grill with you. It took a little while to get it lit. It is a little over 2 mile dirt road to get to cabin. Private, with neighbors on both sides… it is a typical lake front with houses nearby but we had no problems with noise and felt secluded enough. We had an issue with the septic tank over flowing a little but we called vacassa and they sent some one the same day to fix it. We were pleased with the responsiveness of management. Just one thing missing….storage. Shelving units or a cabinet would be helpful. We had to leave our clothing in the suit cases and left them open on the couch. There is no place to put your things at all. The closet could use a shelf unit with a clothing rod above. The two small dressers in the place were filled with linens and not useable. We had a wonderful stay just wish they had storage space. Maybe this will be upgraded by owners some day? We brought a tension rod and curtain for bathroom window. All other windows have a curtain not sure why they missed this one which I think is most important place you want a curtain. Overall very pleased and would recommend. It is a camp folks… don’t expect luxurious furniture. Most important to us is cleanliness and a decent bed and shower which it has.

Lovely quiet get away
We were quite surprised by how far back the cabin was nestled in the beautiful Maine woods. It was a cute little cabin with running water and warm showers but the best part was the gorgeous lake just steps away with its own little beach front. We enjoyed days of swimming, fishing, and kayaking. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and hope to stay again!

Quaint Cottage but could use some improvements
Cottage was ok but things I would change: New mattress (very uncomfortable), new furniture (old and extremely uncomfortable-I used my own folding rocker to relax indoors), lighting above table, cupboards for food storage (had to leave food on the counter due to lack of storage) Glazing over the bathroom window (directly in neighbors sight of view, we placed a towel over the window for privacy) Other than this we really enjoyed our stay. A warning though, this cabin is way out in the woods but not secluded. Neighbors are right beside you and it can get loud at times.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lake cabin! We loved having campfires by the lake and being able to kayak out around the small islands! The bed was super comfortable and we would love to stay again!

Relaxing Experience
This was a cute rustic experience. It had hot showers and clean space. We had just finish camping so this place was perfect and had what we needed. It is very secluded so make sure you bring everything you need. There is a little stand off the main road where you can purchase firewood. There were lots of bugs since it had been raining the days before. Once we got the fire going the bugs where not an issue. The roads were not paved so it's not so easy to go in and out to town. Acadia National park is about 50 minute drive and there are lots of stores on the way for groceries, fast food etc. We didn't have an issue with the beds or furniture. There is an older chair that wasn't the best but we just didn't sit there. We didn't use the the grill so can't provide feedback on this.

Great location, not so great for everything else
My husband and I booked this cabin to ensure we were extremely isolated and could enjoy a quiet and peaceful vacation. After an 11 hour drive from Maryland, we woke Thursday morning to men cutting down trees with chainsaws and an huge tree chopper parked right outside the bedroom window at 7am. I called the “caretaker” and received no help there. Needless to say the stay was pretty much ruined from there on out. I understand that work needs to be done on a wooded property but the VERY least you could do is schedule it when no one was there or just let the people that are staying there know that the work is happening.
Cons:
The furniture is extremely uncomfortable. You can feel the springs when you sit down. The beds are also incredibly uncomfortable.
The water in the shower turns off when you’re trying to take a shower.
The refrigerator leaks water from the freezer on to all your food.
Everything is just old and run down and needs a major facelift. Even some basic new furniture would be an improvement.
Pros:
The location, as long as no one is cutting down trees.
The firepit was a really nice feature and we spent most of our time by the firepit.

Beautiful, peaceful stay
Our family of four and dog had a great experience at carefree point! We lived kayaking and the easy access waterfront. It was a quintessential camp and was very homey. It had everything we needed and didn’t have to leave for anything. One thing not listed is that there is a DVD player in the cabin. This would have been helpful to know as we did get a bit of rain on our trip and would have brought a family movie.
We did adventure into town one afternoon and got some ice cream!
Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

We lived everything about our stay! Close enough to town to grab a drink and watch some football, but secluded enough to feel disconnected! The scenery was peaceful and beautiful!

We loved carefree point!! It was rustic enough to feel unplugged, but provided all the amenities needed for our weekend stay! We enjoyed every minute! Coffee by a morning fire, overlooking that beautiful lake, was my favorite part! We will definitely be back, and highly recommend this beautiful spot!

Family Getaway
Our family of four (4 and 3 year olds) loved our time at Carefree Point. The cabin was cozy and it felt like you were at your own family’s lake cabin. The water access is beautiful and the lake was so warm. Our kids enjoyed fishing off the dock, swimming, and riding in the kayaks. The cabin is the perfect location for those looking to spend some time in Acadia but adventure beyond as well. We spent our mornings in the park hiking and afternoons and evenings at the cabin swimming and relaxing. This is definitely on our “return to” list!

Relaxing Remote Escape
We enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing, especially sitting by the fire at night while listening to the loons. It was great that there were kayaks provided — we took them out and saw a bald eagle and some loons! The cabin is remote and the road in is a bit bumpy, but our Yaris made it in no problem. The cabin didn’t have as many amenities as some places we’ve stayed, but the essentials were provided and we didn’t end up needing anything. The only real negative was the amount of black flies and mosquitoes, particularly by the lake, but there’s nothing that anyone can do about. We’d recommend this place for anyone looking to escape and relax by a pretty lake.

Peaceful
This camp certainly was peaceful, being somewhat off the beaten path. Most everything we needed was there. There was heat for the cooler nights. The kitchen had all we needed to cook meals. Good location to visit other areas like Bangor or Bar Harbor. The town of Ellsworth had restaurants like Finn's and a stop at Momo's cheesecakes was very interesting.

Quiet and Convenient!
We loved this cabin for our small family of 3. It was cozy and clean, but what stood out the most was the quiet surroundings and awesome waterfront! Our 2 year old loved walking around the cabin and along the beach and was able to do so freely without getting tripped up. The cabin had everything we needed to cook our own meals and be quite comfortable. We will definitely be visiting again!

Outstanding Mid September 2018
I want to emphasize that our stay at the property was extremely enjoyable.
My wife and I commented on the professionalism and service orientation of Vacasa as an issue with Booking.com was settled.
Again we appreciated this home as it was immaculate when we arrived; and would definitely consider renting this site or another through Vacasa for a future vacation. As this was our 30th wedding anniversary we won't wait until the 40th to utilize Vacasa's services.

Lovely weekend
We had a lovely small family weekend at Carefree Point. The owners were around and made themselves available to be helpful and also ensured that we had sufficient privacy and that we enjoyed our time. The home is beautifully simple and rustic with a slight retro flair. The beach front and the lake are glorious. We had all that we needed and really loved our time. Can't wait to return!

Quaint with beautiful view. Well stocked with what you need.
It was quiet and at a beautiful location. It looks like the owner has been making some changes/repairs. Some inexpensive updates would make this place much nicer though. Please keep in mind it is a cabin, not a resort. The furnishings in main living were uncomfortable. So if you want to cozy up on a chair or couch...not happening. Toaster oven cord is too short to use unless you move it to the floor and then it doesn't really work very well. They could replace the small appliances (toaster oven and microwave) for under $100. I thought the place had a washer and dryer (my mistake, they didn't say they did) which was the main reason we picked this place over a hotel. It was beautiful there and nice and quiet. It is close in miles to Acadia National park, but it takes 40 minutes to get there from this location. I still think I would stay here again though!
