About this house rental

Best of both worlds! Quietly situated among beautiful trees with few neighbors plus it is walking distance to swim and Oak Bluffs town attractions. The front porch is perfect for reading and visiting on its large, breezy, front porch. And it's only 2 houses from the ocean and scenic East Chop Drive. Take in the sights as you walk, run or bike along the cliffs to the Lighthouse. Or stroll down to swim at Jetty Beach (only 5 mins away) that’s safe for kids, and has a jetty to explore and watch the boats come and go out of the harbor. A huge plus is that it is a short walk into town! A fifteen minute walk brings you to the harbor, then to the bustling stores, restaurants, bike rental shops, and the carousel. Oak Bluffs has great ferry access to Woods Hole, Falmouth, and Hyannis. The house is quaint and like a step back in time. See the photos to get an idea! House is not fully air conditioned but has AC where it counts. ACs in 3 upstairs bedrooms and 1st floor family room. The open kitchen/dining room/living room area has fans. 1st floor has additional galley kitchen, family room w/ TV (can be an alternate bedroom with double size futon couch, dresser, and closet), laundry and full bath. 2nd floor has 3 bedrooms (1w/king, 1 w/double & twin, 1 w/queen & twin) and full bathroom. All bedrooms have their own entrance. Twin bed with the queen is similar to one with the double bed. There’s an enclosed outside shower. The large front porch has 2 rockers, several deck chairs, 2 round tables to eat at, and additional railings to block off stairs. There's a hammock on back porch and a charcoal grill out back. Includes Wi-Fi, TV w/cable chanels & Blue Ray player. Kitchen is fully stocked! Dishwasher & electric stove, microwave, electric coffee maker, lobster pot, plus a full range of cooking supplies. Linens and towels are available at the house, but must be washed, dried, and put away upon departure. Otherwise rentals can be made thru marthaslinenrental.com. Vinyl record player with classic jazz and classical music, or bring your own! There’s also an assortment of games in the family room. Outdoor games include bocce, ladder toss, and badminton. Beach chairs and an umbrella are available. No smoking or candles are allowed in the house. ***One dog is allowed (but no cats due to family allergies). Please let us know you are bringing a dog. A dog crate and bowls are available. The large front porch has railings to add so as to contain a dog (or kids!). Parking for 2 cars available. Our house is a 7 day rental from Sunday to Sunday.

This was our second stay at this charming family home. The location is perfect! There’s walking access to the beach for a morning swim, and then it’s a perfect “home-base” for days of exploring the island. The outdoor shower is great for an end-of-day rinse, and the secluded porch is delightful for relaxing with family and friends. The property description is accurate, and the host is responsive and kind. Hope to return!

The home is conveniently located for walks to town and Jetty Beach. It’s in a shady spot, which helped keep humidity at bay. The house is not new, but it is full of history, with family photos and heirlooms. The front porch is amazing and cozy. Beds are comfy, and the home is clean and tidy. We loved the puzzles and games, too. Overall, this was one of our best trips to MV, and a lot had to do with the home. Anne is a wonderful host, and always quick to reply to questions.we will be back.

Once again, great memories made with family in a wonderful cottage in the woods, but close to everything! Walk to beach 5 min. Walk to town in 20. It’s def our 2nd home now. Great neighbors to the left (hunter is their 2 year old pup and loved kissing my toddler. Just a wonderful week altogether. Thank you for sharing your gem with us, Anne. See you next year!

We had a lovely experience at Anne’s house in East Chop. The location was incredible - we loved be able to take scenic walks along the water in the morning and be walking distance from the beach and town. The house was clean and well stocked. Anne immediately picked up when we called because we accidentally locked ourselves out and had a quick solution for us. Thanks for a great week!

We love this house and location - so comfortable and convenient to the beach, beautiful East Chop road, and plenty of restaurants and fun in Oak Bluffs. Morning coffees on the porch and in the reading nook. We rode bikes to both Vineyard Haven and Edgartown on the great bike paths. Love staying here.

I love this cottage, and I think I mentioned that to Anne numerous times during my stay :) This East Chop cottage is so perfect. There are so many beautiful little touches everywhere in the cottage which gave you a nice cozy feeling to be in such a well loved family place. It was super clean when we arrived and as the days went, we found that it had every single thing you would need for a lovely week on MV. Beach chairs, cooler, boogie boards for the nearby beach which is literally in walking distance. I walked to the beach most mornings with the our 15 month old while the rest of the family slept in. It was glorious. Quiet, peaceful and just beautiful. At night, you feel like you’re camping. There are so many trees around the property and it gets pretty dark allowing you you to see the fireflies so clearly. We saw a deer walk right in the path in front of the house! The roads aren’t paved so make sure you have a good enough vehicle (if bringing a car) to navigate the dirt path from the main road to the cottage which is just a very short distance. There are two spaces for cars in front of the house or on the left side of the house. We were able to borrow the sturdy stroller there which was great bc our car was already jam packed. There was also a high chair and some baby toys for the beach for our toddler to use. The kitchen was stocked with tons of dishware, cookware , utensils, and ingredients like herbs and spices. Every single thing you need will be easy to find and if it isn’t, Anne is super responsive. All appliances worked great, new stove and dishwasher were spotless and reliable, as was washer and dryer. Every bedroom has room for clothing, lots of closet space, ACs that work well to cool the room down, and lots of sunlight during the day. One important factor for us with a toddler, the floor boards don’t creak! The landing upstairs nor the wooden steps creaked and that was great so we didn’t wake the baby at night with the kids going up and down the steps. This is the closest we have ever stayed to downtown OB, I would say it’s about a 15-20 min walk into town. So very close but also far enough that you can be away from all the business of that area. Great property, great surroundings, incredibly responsive owner and an all around amazing time was had by all on the vineyard during our early summer stay this year!

We found the house to be both charming and comfortable - with lots of "Vineyard" feel. The location is great. Set in the woods it is a short walk to the beach and a slightly longer walk to Oak Bluffs center. We appreciated the comforts (heat, ac, wifi, lots of towels, linens, etc), plus the extremely well-equipped kitchen, and thoroughly enjoyed the funky collectibles scattered throughout the house. The owner was easy to contact and very responsive to questions. We highly recommend this rental.

This modest, spacious house was rustic and homey and beautifully positioned near a beach and great walking and biking paths. Host was gracious and generous throughout, especially when our plans had to change due to ferry cancellations during a hurricane. There was ample parking for two vehicles. Would definitely stay there again!

Great location with walking access to Oak Bluffs, beach, and beautiful coastal walks. House is old school charming, a classic vineyard summer home. Dinners and games on the porch, outdoor shower, hammock in the back. Clean and comfortable. Air conditioners made for a good night sleep. Great with teenagers who were able to walk/bike to town.

wonderful experience. Charming old house, three large bedrooms, two full bathrooms, lots of space to spread out in the living room and reading room. Very comfortable furnishings. Great location. Great to walk up to east chop light house and down to circuit Avenue. We were able to bring our two big dogs and had plenty of room for roscoe and josie and our sons and daughters-in-laws. Anne, the owner, was terrific to work with. We had a great time and would rent this Arlington Avenue cottage again in a heartbeat.

The landlord was friendly, responsive and helpful. You could tell from entering, the house was full of the owners past family summer memories filled with fun. The house reminded me of my house growing up— right down to having to hand wash the dishes. (Which was a mindful, therapeutic way to slow down and relax)! I loved it:).

my family of 5 stayed here for a week during july of 2019. the location was great - less than a five minute walk to jetty beach and under a mile to downtown oak bluffs. the house had plenty of room for all of us and a huge front porch to enjoy the breeze from. being able to bring our dog was a big plus and the house was pet friendly (dog bowls, a gate for the porch) which made traveling with him a lot easier. having an air conditioned room downstairs for when things got hot made it safe for us to leave him at home while we were out exploring. anne the property owner was fantastic to deal with and went out of her way to make sure we had no issues during our stay.
