About this house rental
10-minute walk to Marginal Way, Perkins Cove, and several of
the best restaurants in Ogunquit, this cozy house sleeps up to 12 in 5
bedrooms. The large driveway can accommodate 5 vehicles, and there is
nowhere else in the Oguniquit area where you will find a house this size at
this reasonable price and this close to the water. With its 3 fully-renovated
bathrooms and 5 window air conditioners, we work to assure our guests
comfort throughout the summer season.
Our 1930s cottage has a designer kitchen with double ovens, a quiet-as-a-
mouse dishwasher, and a fully outfitted coffee bar with a variety of mixers
for your beverages. Two smart TVs are available and from our 3 season
family room you may see the turkeys and other critters that come wandering
through the 1 acre yard. One of the original owners of this property was an
owner of several Boston sports teams in the 1930s including the Boston Braves and Bruins and the hockey team so you can enjoy the custom-built Mahogony trophy shelves he had lining a wall in this room.
Board games, books, and badminton are available to keep your family
entertained. For our families traveling with small children, we offer a toddler
bed, portable crib, high chair, infant/toddler carrier backpack, and a wagon
to bring everything down to the beach.
Outside our guests can experience the yard in a variety areas, from the
hammock in the shade, a full circle fire pit, and the propane BBQ grilling
area right off the sunroom of the house, as well as a front porch with
cushioned chairs and rockers. With the equipment for exercise and yoga
under the trees (we provide a yoga mat, kettle bells, and hand weights), our
home is the perfect summer place for you and your family to relax, recharge
and reconnect with each other, nature, and your soul.
We welcome guests with a dog and are working on putting in a small, fenced
area for your furry friend for when you go out to the beach or dinner. Guests
traveling with a dog will pay a non-refundable pet deposit OF $250 per pet. Because this is Maine, we strongly encourage our guests to give your pet a flea and tick
treatment before arrival.
We offer a $50 a day discount to families who choose to bring all of their
own linens; otherwise, you will find new linens delivered to the property on
the day you arrive and then picked up the day you leave. Beds are not made up before you arrive since the linens are delivered from a service.
This property offers absolute quiet, a feeling of sanctuary, while still being
just 700 steps to Perkin's Cove. You can walk to That Place for a romantic
meal or to The Cove restaurant for breakfast. You can go for a stroll on
Marginal Way or get in the car and drive to Cape Neddick Lighthouse in 10
minutes. What most people tell us and write in their reviews is that the
location of this property is really ideal since you can get into town without
the challenge of trying to find parking for your car.
Please note this is house is multilevel, and, therefore, has a lot of stairs,
both inside and outside of the house, which could pose a challenge to those
that require assistance or have limited mobility.
We offer a discount for people wanting to rent the property from Fall to
Spring. Generally, there are no discounts given during this period of time
since you will already see a significantly reduced rate reflected on the
website, but send us a note through the platform, and we are happy to
discuss your offers. Due to the potential for freezing pipes if a house is left
unattended (as this is Maine), we do not rent the house during this period of
time for anything less than 3 months. Our guests are responsible for paying
for their own snowplowing and heating fuel. This is an older home, and it is
extremely comfortable from April to November, but guests should anticipate
paying $500 a month on heating fuel during the winter months.
There is an unattached guest house on the property that is not rented. It is
attached to the garage, so the garage is also not included in renting this
property.
Finally, we do encourage dialog regarding the property, but do not ask us to
call or e mail you separate from this website since this is the safest way for
both of us to communicate.
Warm wishes from our favorite place and we look forward to meeting you
soon.

house has quite a few dangers to be aware of - the entrance under the 'welcome' sign leads to the basement/laundry room, and there are horrid steps from basement up to kitchen, where there is no door for protection......and the outside stone stairs need repair - in addition, the railing outside is wobbly and not trustworthy......also, the cleaning team had not prepared the house - the linens were in bags on the porch and the beds had not been made up for us - i never got a real reason for this, but eventually (the next day) the cleaners came back to make up the beds.....not a good start, for sure.......

Close to everything and yet tucked away in a quiet serene setting.

The house was lovely, location ideal, property great, kitchens magnificent! Plenty of space for kids to play outside, walking distance to town. Just an ideal spot. Close to town, shops, restaurants, beach and yet private and secluded. Hope to do it all over again next summer.

We could not have asked for a more perfect fit for our small family wedding! Although the event was held offsite, our group of 12 had enough room to get ready in the morning, and it was wonderful to come back to bbq and gather around the fire pit.
Our hosts were very quick to respond to one small issue when we first arrived and it was dealt with promptly.
The house is just beautiful, the pictures don’t really do it justice and I was in love with the kitchen!
We highly recommend Storybook Cottage for a beautiful stay in the Cape Neddick/Ogunquit area!

Really enjoyed this house and the location is great being so close to Perkins Cove. Easy access to go back and forth from Ogunquit to places like Portland or Portsmouth. Lisa was very easy to communicate with and the price was more than fair for the size of the house. Would stay here again without a doubt.

This home was perfect for our three generations of family gathering in Ogunquit for a wedding. The location was awesome and we enjoyed days at the beach and walks on the Marginal Way. The house was lovely, well stocked and so much more than the pictures show. Lisa and Mike were wonderful hosts. High recommend this property.

The house was truly lovely, old but updated and maintained. The property was gorgeous. Wild turkeys passed through on a daily basis. Beautiful tree coverage. It was truly a short walk to Perkins Cove and the rest of Ogunquit. We highly recommend this rental.

Lisa’s home was perfectly suited for six adults, one infant, and our pet. It was as described on her listing, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, the location was perfect, and the amenities were nice. We’d come back again.

We enjoyed this home. We came with multi generations, everyone loved the home. Plenty of room and beds. Our children (ages ranged from 11-16) and grandparents had places to go for a little quite time away from everyone. Beautiful yard!
Easy check in and very clean. Kitchen completely equipped. 3 full bathrooms! We enjoyed having our coffee outside on the patio in the morning.
Homeowners were very nice and helpful. Many cute little touches. Even a welcome gift upon arrival!
We enjoyed walks to Perkins cove. The location is perfect! We were able to enjoy not just Ogunquit beach but Wells Beach too (another great beach to visit).
Would definitely stay again!
Thank you Lisa for a wonderful and memorable stay.

The rental was more than adequate for 4 adults and 2 children ages 4 and 2. The hosts, Lisa and Mike were very accessible and responsive to our needs and questions. The facility was updated ( kitchen and bathrooms). Location was excellent with East access to beach, Ogunquit and neighboring towns. Had a great time

This is an outstanding home for anyone, but especially a family. The property is beautiful, large and so accommodating. Easy walking distance to Perkins cove/ogunquit, ogunquit beach, marginal way and just so much. Location is so good and easy for traveling anywhere. Communication with Lisa was so easy and quick. My family certainly plans to come back and likely make this spot a yearly destination for us.

We had a perfect Thanksgiving week in this home. The location, house and property can't be beat. We walked to the cute downtown for pastries and coffee and to Perkins Cove. The kitchen was well appointed for lots of cooking and baking. We had three generations for the week and everyone loved the home and being together. We hope to be back next year!

This property can't be beat. Privacy, beauty, spaciousness, functionability, and so much more. This property is well maintained and looked after and has a very welcoming feel making you feel at home instantly. There is strong internet which was important for us, as all 4 of us were schooling or working online. We had a wonderful stay and felt that we landed on our feet staying here. I would highly recommend this house and the owners are wonderful caring people.

We enjoyed everything about this property. The entrance through the mud room was a plus especially with the fall weather. The layout of the multiple rooms was spot on giving everyone some privacy when needed. The grounds were as attractive as we had expected. The location was perfect for us as we like to take long walks with our dog. Perkins Cove, Marginal Way and Ogunquit were all easily accessible on foot. The same applies to driving with the house being just off Shore Road. We found everything we needed in the house for our stay. We really loved every minute of our stay here and will definitely return.
