The hostel was very clean and the environment was friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in Ponta Delgada, it offers breakfast and a clean and big kitchen to cook meals at.

All hostel was very clean and well organized. The beds were comfy and had amazing quality bed sheets. The breakfast was amazing for people that don't have any dietary restrictions. But there were some cereals, plant-based milk, peanut butter, jam, and fresh local bread for vegans. I loved the vibes, there were lots of people cooking and socializing downstairs. It was lovely.
Instant coffee for breakfast - espresso would be a cherry on the top :)

It felt like home at A Bica. Super clean, organized with warm, professional people taking care of everything you need. The bedding was amazing quality. Dehumidifiers and heaters were available if needed. Wifi was quick and reliable. Lots of options for a healthy breakfast were offered. Parking was available nearby. Inside the hostel you could choose to be in common areas to be with people and chat or you could always find a lovely, quiet spot to be alone. There are charming little outdoor areas where you can do yoga, workout, relax, eat or chat with friends. In the back there is a walled garden area as well.

Breakfast is a good selection of items and generally good quality.
I liked the lounge spaces out outside areas.
The bathrooms are good and 2 private bathrooms for 6 people in the dorm worked ok.
Lots of space- I managed to do some yoga on the top floor.
There are hooks and lots of under bed storage.
Curtain on bed for privacy.
Staff we’re friendly and helpful in check-in day.
The lower garden again is nice but there are lots of insects, I saw 2 cockroaches on the decking and joining me on the beanbag! 😬 It’s a tropical island and they do warn people though.
I didn’t really encounter any other solo travellers, only couples and friend groups so it didn’t seem like a place to meet people whilst I was there.
I was on the top floor, we had the window open at night rather than AC but it’s over the road so it is noisy. I had good earplugs and slept ok, not a problem for me but could have been without or even with the window shut.

Grate location, near the city centr but pretty quiet around to have a rest after an active day. Also the beach is also near.
Staff is friendly let me check out a bit later, helped me out with all my questions 🙂
Breakfast is pretty nice, especially cos they have local products such as very good mill and local jams and fruits.
Very very clean hostel. It is really amazing and cozy place. Also for me as a freelancer there was few comfy spots to work with a laptop without any distraction.
Thank you A bica hostel!

Excellent breakfast. Big room with lockers under the beds. Hostel in town center, few minutes away from many restaurants, ice cream shops and public pool. Clean and nice!
No air conditioning in the room! There is much noise around, even at night…

The communal lounge/kitchen and the garden
I hardly slept as it was a very noisy bedroom which backed onto a noisy road. No staff around to help. I was given a room which was different to what I had booked, and nothing was done to change this. As a result the room was busy and disruptive due to the number of people who were in it.

A Bica is the nicest hostel I have stayed in. It feels like a welcoming home. The hostel is very relaxed and peaceful. There's lots of space inside and outside. The staff are very friendly and Bruno is super helpful. The continental breakfasts are great and also tea and coffee, bread are available throughout the day. Each person is also given a food box In The kitchen.
The curtains in the bed are a welcomed touch for privacy.
The hostel is kept very clean. The room which I'm in has a balcony and air con.
Overall its efficiently run and taken care of and these shows with calming atmosphere

The only hostel I have seen that has two private shower for each room. Excellent garden in the back . Very large living room and two blocks from the ocean. The price is also great for what you get. Very modern.
Whole wheat bread :).

An excellent little hostel with such a cute interior, a very cosy and lovely living room area and a deck and a backyard to have your breakfast at. Beautiful rooms, cosy bed, everything super clean and very nice and helpful staff

Idyllic and super clean are probably words that best describe São Miguel. And A Bica is the finest representative of the island. Beautifully designed, with spacious dorms, great communal areas, fast reliable wifi, an amazing kitchen, and rich breakfast (with coffee/tea, bread, and sweets available throughout the day). The already outstanding hostel is only made better by Bruno, the friendly and helpful superstar receptionist. Highly recommended!
I would consider a lighter material for the bed curtains because the present ones block out all air (in an otherwise fresh and breezy room).

- Plenty of communal (always clean and tidy) spaces
- Rooms are spacious
- Beds have curtains, which gives privacy and is a nice touch
- Lockers are under each bunk bed, which makes it convenient for access
- Bathrooms are in enough number for the amount of people
- Staff is really friendly and answered all my questions
- Bruno (reception) was great and very helpful, accomodated all my requests
- Lack of fans or air conditioning (the rooms get very hot and opening the windows meant a - lot - of noise would be heard from the street, like people passing by late night and many cars all night long)
- I would rate this place a 10 if they had some fans in the bedrooms or an AC unit.

The place was amazing. When I just saw the pictures on booking i thought it wasn't that comfortable. But in reality it was really nice. Large area to hang out. Also the garden and terrace were great. The staff was really helpful and very nice. With the curtains in the room you had your privacy and the whole place was super clean. No wonder it is booked out really quickly. We would have stayed longer!

Exceed my expectations, especially considering this is one of the cheapest options on the island — highly recommend !!! A Bica is spacious, clean, has all the amenities you need, a ~great~ breakfast, few areas of terrace to spend time outside, a garden, even a little herb garden for your cooking. I had a great stay here.
Only thing I could say is that the design of the bunk beds makes it hard to get to the top bunk! But most certainly not a reason to not stay here. Loved it.
