Mark and Margaret’s coach house was ideal for us. We instantly fell in love with all of its charms. It’s located perfectly to create a home base and welcomed us comfortably after long days of exploring. Inistioge is a gorgeous location. If you’re looking for a long weekend with quietly stunning scenery or a home away from home, this is where you need to stay

Friendly knowledgeable hosts, excellent house in a quiet village near the great historic sites and hikes of the area. If you are looking for a place in the Irish countryside to unwind that’s still close to everything, this home in Inistioge is a great choice.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very good location for exploring, by car of course. Very comfortable! The small town of Inistioge has a beautiful park by the river with a 10 arch 12th century bridge.

As described.. Hosts were very welcoming and seemed like great people. Beautiful spot.
Beds were VERY uncomfortable…mattresses need an upgrade!
Our mistake: we didn’t realize one has to drive to Thomaston for any food, pubs etc.. 15 minutes.. small country road with scary fast cars and trucks. Stressful driving. No dining in Inistioge. Did not go anywhere in the evening as a result. The property is lovely.. minus very sore backs in the morning!!

Margaret was a wonderful host and this property was just what we were looking for during our travels. It was cozy, we loved the town, and we could drive to cities for the day. Great experience overall, would highly recommend this property.
4.8
Rustic, beautiful, property with amazing hosts. Lovely old old coach house been remodeled into two bedroom two bathroom home with all amenities included. Close to all kinds of little town towns and close to bigger towns a short distance away. One of our best vacations yet.

Margaret and Mark were so welcoming and we had a couple of lovely chats about the history of the Coach House and the restoration efforts. They were helpful with recommending sites to visit and things to do. The accommodations were so comfortable and very well-appointed. Just such a great place to relax and recharge. We'd definitely stay there again!

We were greeted by our hosts as if we were old friends. Mark and Margaret made themselves available whenever we needed them but respected our privacy, and made us feel very welcome. The stone cottage is well furnished, cozy, and extremely comfortable. The nearby area is very centrally located, and there are great attractions in the vicinity, such as the Woodstock Gardens, Jerpoint Abbey, and Kells Priory. Although we made this our base for ten days, we still wish we could have had more time to explore. We would definitely return again!

We spent three lovely nights at St Columb’s Coach House and were warmly welcomed by our hosts. The surroundings were beautiful and we felt as if we had stepped back in time. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely home. Beds were quite uncomfortable, sort of chilly in early morning with heat coming on for short periods in morn and eve.

We love this property and the hosts that live on site. It is charming and feels like home. The comfy beds with the heated mattress pads are so cozy. We stayed here in March and had to return. The location is perfect! Close to the village but on a lovely property with an orchard, gardens, cute bunnies, outdoor grill area and a garden gazebo. . Sleek and modern it is NOT but if you love charm, stone walls with two story beams, loft, books and comfy furniture you can curl up on in front of a fire...then you will love the Coach House. Hosts Margaret and Mark are friendly and absolutely engaging.

Kindest Couple weve ever met that own the property. The house we stayed in was above our expectations.

Everything about this cottage is fantastic. It’s roomy and comfortable. Close to walk to village for pubs and food and a 10 minute drive to thomastown for groceries. A fabulous place to make home while visiting Ireland’s beautiful sights.
Maggie and mark were great hosts. So kind and accommodating.
Definitely recommend!!
Thank you so much!!

What a beautiful place, lovely homeowners (Maggie and Mark), and peaceful stay! The home itself has everything you need-well equipped…not to mention the plethora of books to read! This was convenient as a pivot point to other site seeing options and nice enough to want to stay in. Thank you for sharing your beautiful oasis!!!

2 adults', 2 children (6,8) had more than enough space in this comfortable, restored country home full of history. Mark and Margaret were so friendly and welcoming. We wish we had stayed longer. Seriously considering moving there... We will see you again when back in Ireland. Thank you so much!

Our three night stay here was wonderful. It is situated on lovely grounds. Margaret and Marc are super hosts - very welcoming, and responsive to our queries. The only thing we failed to notice when booking the cottage was that heat is an additional charge. It was a surprise, but we sorted it out. I would definitely recinnebd this place and if back in Ireland, I would love to stay here again.

We loved staying in this cottage. It is as beautiful, old, solid and rustic as the pictures show. Updated with all we needed to live comfortably. We stayed there the month of March, a bit chilly sometimes but the wood burner worked great and added to the ambiance. The owners live next door and were very friendly, accommodating, and interesting; wished we had them for neighbors where we live. The grounds around the cottage are also beautiful, daffodils in waves when we were there. Inistioge is just down the road a bit and is a charming village with lovely folks. Lots to see and do close by. We are already discussing a return trip.

Very origanal and rustic with the modern needs. Lots of space and enjoyed the fire every night. Just a short walk to town and a lovely location for sight seeing. The hosts Mark and Margaret are warm and friendly, just great people

Margaret was excellent. The cottage was just as the pictures show. The wood stove was a much appreciated feature for the cool weather during our stay.

We had hoped to be traveling with friends and we looked for accommodations for 4. When we learned that they were unable to join us, we thought we would look for a smaller accommodation. I am soooo glad that we didn’t change plans. This carriage house is amazing. Comfortable, well stocked for cooking, relaxing. Bed and bedding were so comfortable. Margaret and Mark are wonderful hosts. Helpful, charming, just perfect in every way. This was exactly the experence we were hoping for when visiting Ireland. Thank you again.
One difficulty—- their home is very difficult to locate, especially when it’s dark. We went to the local pub and one of the patrons accompanied us to the home. Be sure to visit O’Donnells Pub!

It is a charming old building in a beautiful setting. It has lots of character and is well laid out and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience!

After a half-dozen visits to Ireland, my wife and I wanted to forego the usual tourist haunts and settle into a quiet cottage near a small village where we could get to know local people and explore at our leisure, so we rented this quaint, cozy, renovated carriage house for the entire month of May, 2022.
What we got was the vacation of a lifetime. The property was exactly as advertised and our hosts, Mark and Maggie, were living proof that Ireland's greatest treasure lies in the genuine warmth and hospitality of its everyday people. We had the luxury of time to spend exploring the surrounding counties in depth, walking seemingly endless hiking trails visiting nearby castles, abbeys, manor houses, river walks and arboretums. The village of Inistioge was only a 15 minute walk away and what it lacked in the way of restaurants and shopping, it more than made up for in charm and friendliness. A convenience store supplied basic needs and the two pubs we supported at length were very cordial and welcoming, as were every single person we met. Inistioge is only a very short drive from larger towns, (Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, etc. are all 20-30 minute drives away), where shopping, attractions, and restaurants are plentiful. Maggie drove us to the train station in Thomastown, (10 minutes away), to pick up a train for a quick trip to Dublin for a couple of days just because we love the history and excitement of that city.
In short, everything about this trip, the cottage, the hosts, the surrounding country, and the people, were simply magical. Don't let anyone tell you that Ireland's charm has faded into the past. Not true. It's alive and well and thriving in the hearts of her people and the understated beauty of her quite places.

Our 2-night stay here kicked off our 10-day adventure in Ireland. It was a great place to start. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the coach house was well-equipped, cozy, and good for the 4 of us. It was a little chilly in Ireland during our visit so the coach house was cold when we woke up, but the heat kicked on at 7:30, soon warming us up. We loved using the wood-burning stove too. Since guests pay for electricity, you flip the switch to turn on the power for the stove and the shower - works great! The driveway requires a quick turn of the wheel to avoid scraping the stone wall. Overall, it was a wonderful way to start our amazing Ireland adventure and would recommend it to anyone traveling a bit off the beaten path to see some gorgeous Irish scenery, meet wonderful people, and take a minute to breathe in the fresh country air.

Really great two-night stay here with our three kids. The property itself is lovely and spacious. Bit cold at night time, but heated up quickly once the heating was on, or the log fire was lit. Maggie and Mark were great hosts, and the property had everything we needed. 5 minute walk to Inistioge.
Will hopefully be back again some time.
