Location
Hotel was overbooked. I got in at midnight and no room at the inn even though I'd booked 9 months earlier. Had to stay at another hotel.

The location was nice being close to the waterfront. We were able to walk from our event which was downtown to the hotel easily.
The price. We were placed in a room that had barely a window, and the small window it had had a horrible view of the roof/ mechanical area. Crazy they place people in these rooms and charge $300+ a night for that… thankfully I was able to move to a room with a bit better of a view but still pricey all things considered.

After several days staying in roadside motels it felt like a real treat to stay here. The rooms where very comfy and it was great watching the thunder and lightning tucked up in bed that night. We thought the on site restaurant was very good indeed and it was very helpful to have laundry facilities available when you’re on a long road trip.
Minor niggles around on-site parking but no biggy.

Front desk staff were very helpful and kind.
Staff of the Anchor & Ore were great! One server in particular was so helpful answering some questions we had about places and things in Thunder Bay. I’m not completely sure but I think her name is Aidan.
The distance to the parking lot. We are both older and my husband has extremely bad knees. The walk from the parking lot was really long in the dark and rain.
Also the front entrance littered with cigarette butts is not appealing in any way. Smokers need to be much farther away from the front door and encouraged to use ashtrays. It was quite gross!

Proximity to downtown
Homeless people even in the lobby at times

Breakfast was amazing but took a very long time to arrive. I was the first person in the restaurant and had to wait half an hour for food, and I was time-limited. The hash browns were exceptional mind you.
When you pay almost $400 a night, it would be nice to have some expectations clearly laid out for guests in terms of "quiet hours". I had to get up early on Saturday morning for a work engagement and the people in the room beside me were extremely loud and partying until late late into the evening. It was a very unpleasant night. People should be advised that quiet hours are in effect from 11 a.m. to at least 7 a.m. and that failure to abide by these rules may result in an immediate eviction from the hotel. Either that or invest in some better sound-proofing between rooms. It made my stay very unpleasant.

The facilities were great, terrible coffee at the starbucks kiosk. Not comfortable with the elevator that seemed to malfunction. I prefer stairs and there is no direct access to the lobby

Nice hotel close to the waterfront. Very beautiful rooms and very decent restaurant if you don't feel like going out.

Lots of parking
Arrived got asked to pay for my reservation , showed that I pre paid through booking , got asked if 2 queens were okay as they were out of kings . I said no I booked and paid for a king with a pull out sofa and sitting area, she checked my booking on my phone, got me in a king somehow (room 521) asked me to pay yet again, had to again show her that I pre paid online through booking. Got handed the keys went to the room and it was a king bed in a room, no pull out sofa,no sitting area like I booked. On top of this the tv did not work properly , any shows clicked on didn’t work the screen would go black, I put the remote down and 20-30 min later it would flip though a few channels out of nowhere. The shower water pressure was not good , the view was terrible and you could hear trains going at all hours of the night. All in all I paid the ridiculous price of pretty much $330 at a 4 star hotel. It met none of the accommodations I paid for or expected and deserves a 2 star rating at best.

The breakfasts were lovely but the service was slow-understaffed perhaps. There was a “please wait to be seated” sign at the entrance to the dining area but there was no one to meet and seat guests. We just walked in and found our own seat. The sign should not have been there. It was confusing. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was good.

The beds were amazing and it was a very quiet hotel;; even though we were just 2 doors away from the elevators, you couldn't hear them. Don't worry about running out of plugs and/or USB ports. They can be found all around the hotel room. That was amazing. But if you want high-speed USB charging, you'll need to bring a charger that supports it.
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was a bit pricey. We got a breakfast at a local restaurant for a third of the price on the second day. Mind you, the Maple and bacon dry rub chicken wings we had on the first night were simply amazing! The room coffee makers should be upgraded to some coffee pod brands. These coffee drip versions are a bit old-school.

I liked breakfast .... multigrain bread oatmeal.
Having to pay a safety deposit of $100.00. Felt it was racially based being a First Nation person.

bed was so comfortable and room was spacious and clean
The fridge wasn’t cold. The restaurant was not open for breakfast the entire week I stayed and wasn’t open for dinner 1 evening. The lack of available food at the hotel was problematic and disappointing.
