Our stay started out with not being able to get into the cabin because of a lock malfunction, but once inside we found a pretty nice little cabin although not the cleanest we have visited in the past, it has issues that needs to be addressed like some pretty week looking boards on the deck, grill has to be light by hand, no ac in the living room area, not enough bathroom supplies, no dish towels or dish clothes that we found, had a couple bathroom flushing issues, could not get the washer to work, it filled with water but that's all it would do. I rate the cabin itself a 8 out of ten and the amenities maybe a 6 out of ten, although we had a great time just visiting with family.

This home was the perfect size for our weekend with another couple, and the location was great. The property has so much potential that doesn’t seem to be taken advantage of. Upon arrival, we had issues with the door lock, when I contacted the host about my husband replacing it, she was contacting the property manager, and we never heard back. The house seemed clean enough, but there were cobwebs in lots of places, and lots of lightbulbs out, a leaky faucet in one bathroom, and several deck boards are rotting. The driveway offers it’s own challenges, especially with a friend with a bum knee…
We did enjoy the view of the ducks in the pond. Would definitely not say we wouldn’t stay here again. Just wish the owners would bring this charming cottage up to its full potential!

The house was gorgeous, and a great location! However, the house had a musty smell on arrival, the coffee pot needs to be replaced, the grill turn on switch was not working, the Wi-Fi password was different than the one provided, no cabin book to reference, not really any views due to the beautiful trees, and the neighbors were very unfriendly. Make sure you have four wheel drive for the driveway. Getting in and out was questionable the first day, but easier to achieve after the initial shock…lol. Overall the stay was amazing! The hot tub and fishing at the private lake was an enjoyable treat, and the views to all the locations were absolutely stunning!!!!

We had a lovely stay. The cabin was close to everything we wanted to see. We took advantage of all there was to do in the short week we were there. Smoky Mtn Railroad Moonshine train, ziplining at Nantahala Gorge and boat rental at Almond Marina. We loved the hot tub at the cabin and relaxing top deck. Driveway a little tricky.

This rustic home in the woods had plenty of space for our family of six. We loved reading out on the deck, and my husband caught several fish in the pond below. The hot tub was nice, and there is a washer and dryer in the attached garage. The narrow gravel roads and steep driveway were a little tricky, but we managed with a minivan.
We did have an issue that came up with the house (due to previous tenants not following the rules.) Brooke was quick to respond and work out a solution that we found satisfactory.
This house has games, books, movies, and a guitar as well as dishes and cookware. If you're staying more than a weekend, you'll want to bring extra toilet paper and soap.

The Happy Appalachian was just what we were looking for. It was peaceful, relaxing and restful. My kids enjoyed fishing and swimming in the private lake. The neighbors that we ran into were very, very welcoming and friendly. There was plenty of space for our family of 6 to spread out. The hot tub was lovely.
Several of the reviews mentioned that the cabin was in need of a good cleaning. We thought the cabin was as expected for a rustic cabin on a dirt road. All of the appliances worked for us as well.
The cabin was about 40 minutes from the southern end of Smoky Mountain NP. We were surprised by the distance but very grateful for the peaceful area especially after driving through the craziness of Gatlinburg.
Overall a great stay.

The cabin could be great. But very dirty upon arrival. I thought perhaps the handful of poor reviews were just people nitpicking as they sometimes do. However immediately noticed the beds had been slept in with all linens on the floor and dirty. It looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in ages. There were dishes in the sink. There were food crumbs all over the floor in the kitchen. Found two cockroaches. Amongst many other bugs. When messaging them about the dirty linens to see where we could find clean ones so we could get to bed after our 12.5 hour drive, we never received a response from host. I give two stars because the property could be very nice. It’s a beautiful home in a beautiful quiet location in need of some real good TLC. But spending good money and getting shafted on a clean place is insane. I paid a cleaning fee for the filthiest place I have ever stayed. Hopefully the host gets it together and doesn’t continue pocketing renters cleaning fees and never cleaning a thing. I understand sometimes things come up and happen, but this level of not caring about guests and cleanliness is unacceptable.

It was just lovely being in the mountains and having such nice views of the lake.
I had no response from the contact person after repeated tries (messaged and called). The home is in general disrepair … screens broke or torn, carpet old, deck boards starting to rot, windows dirty, leaky sinks, toilet kept running after flush, dryer didn’t work, hot tub felt slimy …. it’s really too bad because it’s such a great location … so close to all the most beautiful places on earth.

Property was very dirty. I spent more time fixing things to manage for the week. Dryer didn't work, light fixtures didn't work. Was not satisfied at all

The location is great, we have stayed in this neighborhood before. Relaxing in the hot tub after long days of hiking was amazing! The cabin could use a good cleaning, some updating and new appliances. The dryer was not working when we were there. We reached out to the host through the app, phone calls & texts and received no response. We also called the local guy that was listed as a contact and he said he hasn’t worked on the property in 2-3 years. Not having a dryer for a week was not fun. There was no where to hang clothing and not many hangers. Because of the lack of response I cannot recommend this rental.
Pros:
Very quiet neighborhood
Plenty of space for the family to hang out
Bedroom and bathroom on every level
New hot tub
Cons:
Needs a good spring cleaning
Beds not the greatest
Appliances need to be replaced
This property is so close to being a top rental. It is decorated adorably, the couch is super comfy, the split space is awesome.

We arrived late in the evening and the drive up in the dark was kinda scary, but the directions were excellent. The cabin is absolutely everything advertised. It was myself, my mom, my daughter and son and his gf there for my moms 72 birthday. Just a 4 day getaway. The 3 separate floors worked great! We used the hot tub every night and ventured out into town (which was much closer than I thought, only 10 or 15 minutes) for groceries. We also traveled the blue ridge parkway and enjoyed a night in with a fire and board games. Everything we needed was provided. The only issue was regulating the temperature. The giant (amazing) windows make the main floor a little cold when it's cold outside. Also the trash was a little confusing. The guest book says one thing and the sign in the kitchen says another. Overall, I would not only rent this cabin again, but we loved it so much we joked about wondering if it was for sale.

Everything is as described it's a very nice location in the mountains of North Carolina. It is an older house and you can tell but it's great condition. The hot tub is very nice.

The cabin was a really nice place/stay for our family. The cabin was clean, comfortable, cozy, the kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved the hot tub!
Brooke was quick to answer any questions we had!
For anyone with questions about the driveway/parking....we found that our SUV was the perfect choice. A full size/4 door truck would be very difficult to maneuver the one-way in gravel/narrow road. Once turning onto Tobacco Branch Rd, you cannot turn left onto Birch Trail as stated in the Google Map directions. There are signs saying "No Left Turn", "Do Not Enter". You must go straight and loop around and back down to Birch Trail. We found it way easier, anyway, to do it this way. It is also easier to back down the steep driveway. I recommend backing down the driveway instead of pulling straight in and it is very hard, even with a small SUV, to turn it around to go out. For motorcyclists - We have a motorcycle and this is not motorcycle friendly. This is not meant to be taken in a bad way, just an FYI, as this is a great place to come stay for your mountain retreat!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family! We absolutely loved it and had a fantastic mountain get-a-way! ❤️🌄🏞

My sister lives in KY, I live in FL. We met in NC to spend a few days together. Beautiful area! The lay out of the house worked great for us, we could all be together and still have our own space. We enjoy our few days of relaxing

Quiet area
The area is secluded and quiet. My son loved having the lake nearby. Overall the house was okay but there were some minor inconveniences. All the sheets and some towels were stained and dingy looking and something questionable stuck to the ground floor level bed sheets. I couldnt wash them because there was no laundry soap and most everything was closed when I arrived. The dishwasher was full of dishes when we got there. There was only one working hand soap out of 3 bathrooms, the dish soap was mostly water, the grill needed a lighter but there was none provided. No TV remote for the bottom floor and all kind of wires unplugged. Some kids must have been there before and trashed all the DVDs out of cases. Generally the bathrooms and floors were clean. Some door locks dont work and you need to keep a stick in the door and a broken window with glass still near the driveway. It needs a general overall cleaning. Nice porch swing. If you have mobility issues I don't recommend as you need to park on bottom level and walk back up the driveway to the front door on another level. My son slipped and fell on some gravel getting to the car on the first day. It's not the worst. Just keep in mind you need to travel to Bryson City for most things. Cardinal Coffee nearby is really cute.

Great experience
Everything was as stated and the stay was great. Location is perfect in my opinion, just out of several sites that took 20min at most to get to. The views were very nice and peaceful from the cabin. The driveway is a little challenging but not an issue.
Would stay here again.

It is a nice quite place. Bathrooms are small.
Nice little place in the mountain. Bathrooms are small. Toilets on all bathrooms sit very low. They are some wasp nests outside that need to be taken care of too...The male neighbor next door is NOT courtesy at all and is not friendly too.

Nice and quite place
The rental was as described on the VRBO - nice house. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only issue was the hot tub smelled like fish. We checked the levels and chlorine was very low. The smell was easily alleviated after we added chlorine the next morning. The hot tub was nice. Thank you for sharing your home and allowing us to stay.

Great country mountain stay
Great mountain country cabin. Many sights and trails within an hours drive. Beautiful views from the balconies.
Only complaint is the conflicting info. I.e the app and welcome Book say there’s a hot tub, but there isn’t. As well as the trash. The app and welcome book say you have to take ALL trash with you when you leave or you’ll be fined $20 (strange because the cleaning fee is $125 and you’d think that’d be included), but the welcome rules on the kitchen counter say if it fits in the outdoor trash can you can leave it. So we didn’t know what to do and just drove it all the way home with us.
Bring some warm clothes if you stay in the winter because the heaters are really hard to get to a comfortable temp and you’ll either be freezing or burning up in the bedrooms.

Adequate for our needs.
Pictures make the cabin look larger than it really is. Will sleep six adults but four is definitely more comfortable for the size of the cabin. Cabin was not extremely dirty but I think could have been cleaned better knowing people were coming. Beds were comfortable, has two nice decks but a little bit of a view would have been made it better. Only three rolls of toilet paper in the cabin and not full rolls. I may be nitpicking but for the money thought it could have been cleaner. Overall we had a nice, relaxing stay.

Great getaway
After our trip to Florida was canceled, we looked for a place available here in the mountains, and staying here was no disappointment. Quiet environment, great sleep, Close enough to everything we wanted to see And still far enough off the beaten path that we didn’t hear traffic all the time. Great host!!

Neat comfortable cabin
The homeowner was very easy to contact. Very comfortable clean beds and bathrooms and kitchen very clean. No major issues but some things that might need to be addressed due to effect on efficiency of cabin. Faucet won't cut off completely in loft bedroom and shower head very loose. Air conditioner in loft bedroom says change filter.
Some cob webs but we realize it's in the mountains. There was a chip bag in the downstairs bedroom and a sweet n low packet in upstairs bedroom. Rug in dining area very frayedy. Long heavy strings need to be cut off. They might be a trip hazard. The driveway was a challenge and is very steep. We bought groceries in Bryson City at Ingles. Very nice store. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you

The house with a mouse
All a/c units, window blinds, and ceilings are covered in filth. The hot tub is still broken from 5 months ago and there are mice in the cabin. Our lovely welcome bag was already chewed on before we arrived. Also there is mouse droppings all over the house. Worst stay we have ever had. Did make us buy an RV so we never have to deal with that again.
