My partner and I brought our dog here for a weekend getaway. It was perfect for us! We rested and relaxed and the cabin had all we needed - hot tub, beautiful mountain views, Roku tv, stocked kitchen, gas fire place, and is generally such a cute cabin. Shelby was so responsive and a lovely host.

Cannot say anything bad about this property! It was clean and neat and had everything we could have possibly wanted. The property manager was readily available and responded to any question I ask. Would definitely stay again.

Cabin was exactly as described. Clean, cozy and well equipped kitchen with a gas fireplace inside. Fire pit outside complete with proper firewood and plenty of seating. Hot tub, picnic table, rocking chairs on the deck with a view to die for. Hostess promptly answered all our questions and made our stay phenomenal.

We stayed in this area to explore a little more of North Carolina. It turned out great. We were a few minutes from a grocery store. One day we spent time wondering around Bryson City and inter tubing in Deep creek just north of town. The following day we went fishing on White Oak Creek. Relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day was great - watching the sunset with a view of the mountains from the tub was fantastic. Overall, a really wonderful vacation with the family.

Cozy tree house cabin in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood! Loved seeing the sunset on the deck with my husband and dog every evening. My dog enjoyed looking out the loft window. It was nice having a fenced in deck. Fantastic Mountain View’s! Can’t wait to come back again.

After visiting Gatlinburg on day 3 of our stay, I am sooo glad we stayed far away. This is much more about a getaway in the mountains. If you are looking for the touristy stuff of PF and Gatlinburg this is not for you. The drive to GSM isn’t that bad. About an hour to the major hikes. But there is so much to do in the Nantalahala Forest and the surrounding areas that are overshadowed by GSM that are just as great. Perfect location to drive the Tail of the dragon and go White water rafting.
The house is nice…the pictures make it seem a bit bigger than it is, but it is the perfect size for a family of 6. Our group is all older than 16. Shelby is very responsive though we didn’t really have any issues.

My wife and I had a wonderful time during our stay in Almond N.C.. The home was well maintained and was nestled in a private wooded area. We hope to return in the near future.

Wonderful experience. The view from the deck is beautiful. This quaint house is situated perfectly between Robbinsville and Bryson City/Cherokee. Plenty of beautiful scenery while hiking, white water rafting or ziplineing. Great time overall. I highly recommend.

This place is amazing as is Michelle, everything was clean and the house is so perfect for family and friends. Close to the action in Bryson city and Cherokee but secluded enough to have your privacy. Will definitely visit this property again!

Owner Appreciation
Original house was inaccessible due to ice and snow. Called owner. She was FANTASTIC. Luckily she had 2 other properties right up the way. We stayed in one the entire vaycay. Enjoyed the scenery, solitude and hospitality she afforded us.

Clean, Quiet, and Pleasant
This is a wonderful vacation property for those who want to enjoy some quiet time and get away from hustle and bustle. The only challenge of any sort is that this community is serviced by what appears to be old but maintained logging roads, but no issues were encountered either coming or going. The area itself is extremely quiet and is a few miles from the nearest store (Dollar General and a BP convenience store.) The Ingles supermarket is 8 miles away in Bryson City. The house itself has plenty of nooks and crannies, plus there's individual spaces (the living room, loft, and library) that have their own unique character. The home was clean and well appointed with linens, towels, paper products, and hand/dish soap provided. The cookware provided is very good and all appliances functioned properly. Simply a great little place to stay and get away from it all!!!

The Hoot is a hoot
Overall great little cottage. Constructive criticism only, we had a great stay. Overall was pretty clean, realized after only a few minutes that the floor was a little dirty. White socks turned brown, no biggie. Communication let me down. If you are looking for a smallish cottage with a really neat layout, than this is a great spot for you. Isolated location is great for spending time in the outdoor space. Once again overall had a wonderful experience at the hoot 🦉.

Nice remote cabin close to Bryson City.
Remote location in a hillside. Be prepared for off roading if you are on a motorcycle. The quietness is worth the trek in. Cabin was fully stocked with essential needs. Place was tidy but needed deep cleaning.

Great vacation getaway
Friends for 50+ years absolutely enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing time at the Hoot Owl. Even a full day of rain was no bother since the loft area with awesome views was such a comfortable space and our go-to hangout. There isn't much "useable" yard, especially for the dogs, but there is an open space across the road for the dogs to romp and play ball. The small lake is beautiful. Unfortunately the time of year was not temperate enough to swim, but the dogs sure had a good time. Hoot Owl is a wonderful little getaway. Highly recommended!

Quiet community and responsive owner!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hoot Owl Hideaway. We had a small issue with the fireplace gas running out but Shelby got it fixed quickly and before we left. It was really nice to have the fireplace working, great ambiance. The cabin was comfortable for us and the hot tub was really nice! Overall a lovely trip!

Cabin in the fall foliage
Hoot Owl Hideway was the perfect setting to view the fall foliage in Western Carolina. The cabin located within 15 to 30 minutes of Bryson City, Fontana, Murphy, Smokey Mountain National Park and Nantahala Outdoor Recreation Area. We found endless opportunities for hiking and sightseeing, with spectacular views of mountains and waterfalls each day. One of the highlights of the trip was renting a pontoon boat on Lake Fontana and spending the day on the water.
Hoot Owl Hideway provided all the comforts of home. Beautiful secluded area. Truly enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor fire pit, and indoor gas fireplace. Bedding was very comfortable and the cabin is well decorated, clean, and fully stocked for all your needs.
This is our 3rd fall trip to North Carolina to see the fall color changes. This was far and above our best trip. The lodging at the Hoot Owl Hideway was definitely a large part of the reason. Thank you some much Michelle.

Mountain side hideaway
We enjoyed our stay at Hoot Owl Hideway. Upon arrival, everything was as described and a very clean cabin. It was a perfect size for a couple but only a one man kitchen. Bed was comfy and we loved the hot tub. Everything was functional, no snafu’s. The deck was peaceful and secluded. The drive in is a little tricky though we managed pulling a trailer with bike. Follow directions given you and it’s the best route in. For us, this is a centralized location not far in any direction from many National Parks, beautiful waterfalls, winding mountain roads, Cherohala skyway, Blue ridge parkway, Tail of the Dragon 🐉....Supurb bike 🏍 riding...318 miles in 11 miles. I totally recommend this cabin...no issues or negatives at all. Thank you Shelby for a great place!!!

We had a wonderful time at the hoot owl cabin. The hot tub was awesome after hiking all day! The upstairs is beautiful. Everything we needed was in the kitchen, and we made s'mores in the fire pit.

Comfortable and charming
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hoot Owl. It had everything we needed and was the perfect size for our family of four. It poured rain the entire week of our trip and as a result we ended up inside a fair bit which was fine thanks to this precious place. Very close to NOC, Cherokee and Great Smokies, the neighborhood is charming. Love the outdoor and indoor space. Wish we could have explored the outdoors a little more. Would definitely stay again!

We loved the cabin!
We loved our stay. The cabin is very well located, close drive to Fontana lake and Dam as well as NOC and other activities in the area. But its secluded and provides privacy and peace. It is spacious enough to accomodate our party of 4, the beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well equiped and the hot tub on the porch is exelent addition, adding so much fun. Also, there is a private lake, which is part of the community, and swimming was amazing. All together we enjoyed our stay tremendously and hope to come back again.

Not quite what was expected.
Upon arriving to the property, we were greeted with a gorgeous setting sun, changing and falling leaves, and beautiful weather. Tucked in the mountains is this lovely, comfortable retreat. When I had booked this property, I was expecting the house to be a little larger than it actually was. This discovery was not bad thing by any means. This home is very comfortable and welcoming and very easy to fall in love with. Being used to the hustle and bustle of New Jersey living, this place turned out to be one of the most relaxing trips I have taken in my life. Unfortunately, I did not get to do many activities in the area or much exploring. I did stumble across something else I was not expecting... the roads, the drives, the views. I am a huge car and driving enthusiast. I have never been so overwhelmed with joy on a drive before. Snaking through the mountains, floored by the views along the way, twisting and winding my way up and down the mountain with a huge smile on my face the whole time. I will be keeping this property in my back for another day, I hope to return. If you are looking to escape a busy routine, this is definitely a place that should be on the top of the list.

Comfortable mountain cabin
This house was as expected in the photographs online although a wee bit smaller than the first thought, but true to the pictures. It will sleep six people in beds but can get a little crowded when everyone is inside if the weather is not good. Otherwise, there is great space outside and inside for people to spread out. The kitchen is small but very functional and well equipped but a one person kitchen for sure. I was a little concerned about the road but a minivan had no problem navigating the gravel road even after 24 straight hours of rain. Everything in the house is labeled and the directions and how to do everything are spot on. The hot tub was fabulous and was a lot of fun for both young and old alike. The location is good for getting to other places in NC, 15 minutes to Bryson City and lots of outdoor activities on HWY 23, 30 minutes to Cherokee and Sylva (closest Wal-Mart). The community of Tobacco Branch with the little lake and peer is adorable and was nicely decorated for Fall. We met several neighbors in the community and all were super friendly. It was very quiet. We enjoyed the fire ring several nights and there was plenty of outdoor seating both on the deck and by the fire ring. It was great having a washer and dryer, too. I would highly recommend this vacation home to others.

Perfect Location!
Our family loved our week at the Hoot Owl Hideaway! The house was clean, decorated perfectly, stocked well, and centrally located to many wonderful sites. We loved walking down to the lake, being close to everything such as the NOC, Bryson City, Fontana Dam, Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge TN, The Road to Nowhere, Oconaluftee, Cherokee, Mingus Mill, Swain County, Clingman's Dome, Deep Creek Trail, Joyce Kilmer Forest , Wehrloom Honey and more, we saw it all and LOVED it! We loved the seclusion and peacefulness of the house, and relaxing in the hot tub after a day of sightseeing and hiking. The fire pit was perfect for our s'mores roasting!
We enjoyed every single day and would highly recommend this vacation rental!
