About this farm stay rental
1890’s Victorian style home is comfortably furnished with a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining area, large living room and the old fashion parlor. First floor bathroom includes a tub/shower combo. A four bedroom house with two that are available and others unused unless more guests are booked.
When you stay here, you will enjoy the tranquil setting of the country. Relax with your cup of coffee and a good book on the front porch. Enjoy the evening in the enclosed garden room overlooking the backyard and grilling on the built in charcoal grill. You might see the neighbors’ horses grazing in the fields next to our house. Often we watch the birds, squirrels and other wildlife playing in yard.
Our Guests have access to the entire house with a few exceptions.
The house sits back from the road and the area is full of large oak and maple trees that give it a very established beautiful environment. The original house on this farm was built in 1826 and is across from this house. The original family built my house in 1895 and I am only the third owner of this house since it was built. The 1826 house was part of the Underground Railroad, and my house was built for possible use for that purpose also, but since the Civil War was recently over at the time very little, if any use was made of if for that purpose.
Tallmadge is a great place to live and visit and there are so many things to do and see in our area it is hard to fit them all in this short description! The local farmers market located in the Tallmadge recreation parking lot (46 N Munroe Rd) June through October on Thursdays, 4 to 7pm is a great place to pick up some fresh veggies and meet the local people.
Our house is just a few minutes from Interstate 76 just east of Akron Ohio
Thank you for taking a look at our space. We love our house but at the present time are not able to live in Ohio due to temporary work relocation. Someone will greet you upon arrival to show you around our home and answer any questions you may have.
We want you to feel at home but ask that you treat our space better then you would a hotel.
*We do allow pets (each pet must be approved before booking) This means I will be asking you questions about your furry family member.
PLEASE NOTE: Bedrooms are made available based upon the number of guests. (Two guests will only have a maximum of two bedrooms, etc). THE SECOND BATHROOM is part of the fourth bedroom. If the second bathroom is desired guests must notify the homeowner before arriving so that arrangements can be made. An additional cleaning fee may apply if the second bathroom is requested for less guests.

My wife and I stayed at Ian's home for one night during a cross country trip. It is a charming old farmhouse on a large property with 2 nice horses one property away. We enjoyed staying here and we appreciate this being the only for many miles.

Great comfy old farm house. Parlor with baby grand piano was a bonus. Tallmadge was a nice area to explore from, and our hosts did everything they could to be sure we were comfortable and had what we needed.
Colin:
We had a great time at the home. It was very nice and very comfortable. The host was very welcoming and available for any concerns we may have had (though we had none). We would definitely stay there again. Thank you!!
Heather
The house was quite and easy to locate. We only stayed one night and the window a/c kept the house at a good temp.
Sheila:
The house was very nice and everyone was very accommodating and available to help with any problems.
Katie:
The house was very charming - everything about it was clean, well kept, and comfortable. My kids loved the yard, play set, and especially the horses grazing on the property. I would definitely rent it again if we head back to Akron in the future. Thanks :)
Zac:
The host was very informative on setting us up in the house. The house was very nice. It is in a very pretty country setting. The house is well appointed and just what we needed. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others looking to stay in the Akron area.
Erica:
Great place to stay if visiting in the area. The house was super comfortable and in great shape and the yard was just beautiful. Tallmadge central is close by with some nice restaurants. Ian was very responsive and accommodating.
Eileen:
Thank you Ian, the house was just right for our stay in Tallmadge. We were working in nearby Ravenna and it was wonderful to stay in your house as opposed to a hotel. The site was quiet, and we enjoyed the horses out the back window. Beds were comfy and clean. Lynn met us when we arrived and showed us all around. Thank you again.
Jillian:
I stayed at the house for 6 months thanks to Ian. He was so accommodating for my long stay. Through the whole winter he and his mother were always available if I needed anything. They were respectful of my privacy and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had the best stay possible! I would definitely recommend staying at this house!!

I am no stranger to traveling to Akron, Ohio and also no stranger to the poor standard of hotels on offer. And after checking into one of America's leading hotel chain rooms and not being able to open the window we duly checked out the next morning. Fortunately, we found a lovely house in nearby Tallmadge available and how delightful and refreshing this particular stay proved to be in comparison to past years. Never again will we seek to stay in an Akron area hotel. The house is ideally located to restaurants, shops and located in a wonderful leafy rural like setting. The house itself is charming, beds comfortable, modern bathroom and overall a delight to come back to at the end of each of the days we were present.

A home back in time with the old fireplace and piano! Felt like I went back to my childhood home! Loved it!

The location of this property is perfect: close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and near to many great restaurants. The setting was quiet and peaceful. The house had everything we needed, but bear in mind that it is an older farm house, which inevitably comes with its quirks and an over-worn appearance. The linens and towels were nice and clean. Thank you for a good stay!

This property was just as advertised. Our favorite part was the enclosed back porch where we spent most of our time. The bedrooms worked well for everyone and having two bathrooms was good. A bonus was getting to see deer in the backyard! Highly recommend it you need a place to stay in the area.

This is the 22nd year we have stayed here, and everything was great. The owner communicated and answered all questions quickly. The house was clean with nice amenities. It is a very old house, so the stairway to the 2nd floor is very narrow. We did not cook anything there, but there was a microwave and coffee maker that we used. Plenty of area for sitting inside or outside. We enjoyed the stay and will be back!

Our stay at this home was like stepping back into history. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with warmth and attention to detail that made us feel right at home.
The property is beautiful and perfect for kids to play outside as well as the dog running around. Plenty of sleeping space as well as relaxing space to unplug. The only thing that was different was that the home only had one bathroom, which was downstairs.
The location was ideal, offering easy access to major stores just 5 min away. We stayed there to spend a couple of days at Cuyahoga National Park which is only 30 minutes away.
We really had a great time and made lovely memories with our family. The host left easy check-in and check-out instructions and was very professional and quick in getting back to me in the Vrbo chat.
Thank you for providing us with a home away from home.

We had a nice stay. This house is in a quiet location. Everything seemed clean. I will say, if you have allergies or a sensitive respiratory system, this rental is not for you. All of us had a hard time breathing and were stuffed up. We opened the windows and left them open to help air out the house when we were there. The kitchen and living room were a nice place to gather, as was the porch. Would rent again if the place was more healthy.

The property was in the right location for what we needed. Loved the charm of the older home. The pictures represent what to expect. Ian was quick to respond to questions. Thanks

Very cute house with fully outfitted kitchen and comfortable living room furniture. The master bedroom be was very comfortable, but the other beds were hard.
4.6
My children are grown and have families of there own, so finding a place where we could all stay together was wonderful! The place was clean and comfortable for everyone! We were able to visit extended family while staying there. We plan to be back in the future!
4.6
The house itself was interesting due to its age. The property was set off the main road so it was quiet. The house did have an unusual smell as reported by some other guests. The couch/sofa was not in great condition and not very comfortable. There was also a safety issue with a 1/2 door to basement steps that should be addressed.
4.6
Nice house, good communication, water pressure a bit a little weak. And the downstairs toilet takes some time to fill.
4.6
Kind of like staying at your grandmothers farm house.
4.6
Feels like home. I love staying there.

We left a pillow on site. Is there a cheap way to get a return?

Sweet 100+yr old farmhouse in a great location, close to everything we needed with a large yard. The owner was very responsive to any questions/concerns.

What a cute farmhouse. Plenty of space for 5 adults. Very close to where we needed to be. We were very comfortable. Great communication with property owner. A+ all the way around.
4.6
This was exactly what we were looking for. The nice quiet property to hang out in while my daughter and her friends were spending time together. It was exactly what I needed so that I had space to move around and do what I needed to while she was off doing what she needed to.
4.6
Late October staying at your home was exactly what we needed. Beautiful home and colorful foliage. Thank you for being flexible about our dog. We would stay there again given the occasion to do so.

If you're looking for an up to date modern stay with perfect everything, this home may not be for you. BUT if you want a well loved 150 yes old farm house with lots of character and room for family to gather and pups to play, this is the place for you. Only gave a 4 on cleanliness because of age related things... Could use a bit of TLC to be in tip-top rental shape but still a great stay. Would also be nice to have an antenna for pick up local stations (Roku tv offered) and a TV in the upstairs bedroom would be a great add! Thanks for letting us stay. We really enjoyed being so close to family and enjoy fall hikes in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park!
4.6
While we enjoyed our visit to the area, we found the pictures on the listing to be somewhat deceiving. The property itself was beautiful and peaceful but the home itself was definitely a step back in time. Everything was in working order and although the home was clean, we found it to be not as conducive to a pleasant visit as we originally anticipated. This can be attributed to the age of the home, but future guests should be aware of the historical “charm” and determine if that’s something they would enjoy.
4.6
We were very comfortable at this property. House was fully stocked with all the stuff we needed for our weekend getaway. Ian has thought of everything! Comfortable beds and a very clean house. We loved the hen that greeted us from across the driveway. Next concert we drive down for at Blossom, we will sure book this property again.
4.6
We enjoyed our stay here. Loved the front porch in the mornings and evenings. Beds comfortable, but small. Couch is old, but pillows helped it. We were there a week and it certainly served our needs.

Quiet Location outside of Akron
Spacious 4 bedroom located East of Akron. Very near Summit Racing if you know where they are. It is indeed a very old house, but well equipped. Full kitchen we used a lot. There is a great pool complex about 3 miles away, so not really walking distance, but easy car ride. The upstairs bathroom is attached to one of the bedrooms, so a bit inconvenient for the other upstairs bedroom occupants, But spacious bedrooms, each with thier own window AC unit. Very reasonable price for 5 of us to stay. Most of our activity was around Fairlawn, Richfield and Cleveland, so we had a bit of a drive for all of those locations, but the highway made it easy. We couldn't find a location any closer to our needed activity. Water pressure in the kitchen is a bit light, but still worked fine for cleaning dishes. Other than groceries for a week, we didn't need to buy anything that wasn't provided. We enjoyed our stay.

Mixed feelings about property
The house was in a nice & peaceful location. It made visiting Cuyahoga NP easy. It provided quite a bit of space. It’s dog friendly.
Communication with Ian was spotty. My initial request to rent timed out. He was slow to respond to questions. With less than 24hrs to check in I still had no information on how to get in to the rental. I had to email and text him before I got told the location of the keys. We knew we were renting an old house. It had an odd odor and seemed stale. The bedding did not smell clean. From our viewpoint the house needs some work before renting. Paint is peeling off walls and ceiling. There is a piece of plywood (or something similar) filling a large area in the ceiling that does not look stable. We understood keeping some rooms locked to reduce room use. Based on the listing description we didn’t know which rooms would be open. As 2 people staying a small room (full bed) on the ground floor next to a bathroom was open along with a larger room (queen bed) upstairs. The upstairs room was much more hot, stale and farther from the bathroom so we opted to stay in the lower room. Sleeping in the smaller bed was not ideal, but the cooler atmosphere and proximity to the bathroom trumped more space. Numerous dishes that were pulled out of the cabinet had dried food stuck to them. Overall we enjoyed our trip to the area but we would not stay at this house again.

Our pups loved the horses next door and everyone got along great !
Not sure where the chickens came from (don’t feed them) but they are very brave and cute !
Can’t wait to come back next year !
