About this house rental
*Same day reservation is possible, despite the website not showing availability.*
My furnished house is available for your group of friends, family, or traveling professionals looking for a comfortable place to kick back, with all of the conveniences you need: a fully-equipped kitchen, games & puzzles, piano, washer/dryer, spacious deck and lawn, wood-burning stove, heater, security system, wi-fi internet, bicycles, croquet, horseshoes, and plenty of parking. And… please realize that you will never need air-conditioning in Eureka!
This 2200sq’ home has four bedrooms, plus an office and two living rooms. Sleeping accommodations are a downstairs queen-size bed, with a king, queen, and twin beds upstairs. The den has a daybed and trundle bed. One of the living rooms has two convertible couches as well as room for cots or air mattress. A lot of 'equipment' for children is available upon request. The bathroom downstairs is shower-only and equipped with safety rails. The bathroom upstairs has a clawfoot bathtub. There are steps to get into the house both in the front and back. Please, no smoking or shoes inside the house.
Outside is a large back deck overlooking the backyard and redwood trees, with a deck and smaller side yard as well. The property is nearly fully fenced, but if there are dogs outside, they should be kept in the large and covered shelter (10' x 10').
I am able to communicate on a basic level in American Sign Language (ASL).
Emergency Supplies
We are prepared to keep you safe and warm in case of a power outage. Yup, sometimes it happens. BUT - At the house is a power station to keep the internet on, to charge your personal communication devices, to keep you warm with an electric blanket, and to light up the area at the flick of a switch. No fumbling for matches and candles!
If necessary, we will bring to you a battery powered refrigerator and extra portable power stations to run extra lights and heat if necessary. Having a wood stove is especially wonderful to warm the house!
Eureka is a wonderful place to stay while working in the area or visiting.

Your proximity to everything Humboldt, Trinity, & Del Norte counties have to offer is an advantage to a home-base in Eureka. And this house is a lovely way of being centrally located and close to shops, yet quiet and rural. Did you know Eureka has an old-growth redwood forest in the middle of town? You’d be able to stroll to Sequoia Park & Flower Garden in less than a minute’s walk from your front door. And California’s oldest zoo is right there too! Those otters and red pandas are adorable! Have you ever tried "forest bathing"? The practice is claimed to benefit physical as well is mental health as it help lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost immunity and mood, and improve overall feelings of well-being. We've got the forests for you! Eureka has a mild climate year-round, so despite the summer heat in nearby communities, 'natural' air conditioning is the only cooling device necessary in our coastal community.
This house and property is well-suited for extra-large gatherings. The initial price is set for a small group with additional people adding to the overall cost. We will set up all rooms and beds for you. Please be specific about how many infants (

I rented this home for a long weekend of hikes, beach walks and talking with a group of close friends. The house worked very well for us and communications with the host were top-notch.....great responsiveness and flexibility to accommodate our needs.

Enjoyed our stay! We had a party of 7 and the house has a lot of room, comfortable beds, every thing you would need from extra pillows, blankets to games, kitchen supplies and many brochures for things to do any the area. Host was very responsive. The Zoo was not only fun but is right around the corner! The house is near restaurants and the waterfront. Would stay again!!

The house was adequate for our 15 party family other than one shower in the house. It was cute. We were there for the Redwoods so we didn’t spend a lot of time at the house other than to sleep and eat. The beds were comfortable. The host extremely responsive.

Margo and Sunny did a wonderful job of preparing their house for our stay while on a work deployment. The house is in a great neighborhood, quiet, and comfortable. Sunny and Margo were excellent communicators and very responsive to our needs or requests. Would absolutely recommend them and this property.

We were traveling with three little ones. The location was fabulous as there was a playground and zoo/park around the corner. Margo has a huge collection of equipment and games for kids on hand. Our littles loved the trampoline! Margo is the most responsive host we've ever stayed with. We were very comfortable.

We loved our stay at Hollys house. She was available when we locked ourselves out, oops. She even picked flowers on the property & put in Vase on outside tables for our graduation party. She was very kind. We had everything we needed here. Her lovely home allowed us all to stay together, comfortably, including my little 14mo grand baby.

Great place. The guesthouse should be listed on the main site so that you are aware of that possibility if you want the extra room or bathroom. Good for a large family

Great location, better communication
What surprised me the most about this rental was the communication with the propert manager. She was very responsive to our needs and exceptionally welcoming. The house was a little hard to find because the number to the property is blocked by a rose bush, but other than that we had a great stay.

Wonderful house in quiet Eureka neighborhood!
We all so enjoyed our stay here! We needed a house for our family to gather that could accommodate all of us for a family event nearby. Holly was a wonderful host and made our stay so very pleasant from the start. The directions to the property were clear, and everything we needed was provided. When the sun came out, it was lovely sitting on the front porch or on the back deck. There is a huge window over the kitchen sink that looks out at some gorgeous towering Redwood trees. There is a large dining table with plenty of chairs for gathering for family meals, and the full size washer and dryer were super nice to have.
The house itself is old and quirky; but the charm and surprises around every corner are fun. You will be very comfortable here, as we were. Anyone want to sit in another quiet space away from the group? There’s a place for you!
Some of us went to the zoo and the Sky Walk, which was a quick walk just around the corner. We would definitely rent this house again!
One other thing to note is that there were some negative reviews about the fact that the house is across the street from an elementary school and that drop-off and pick-up times were noisy. Not so. First of all, there’s a huge hedge blocking the house from road view, and secondly there really isn’t much road noise at all to speak of.
Thank you, Holly!

Amazing, Spacious Home
The property was beautiful, and wonderful for larger groups. There was great communication with the property owner as well, which was greatly appreciated. I would love to stay again if the oppurtunity arises!

Members of our Santa Barbara running Tribe traveled to Eureka for this race. Rather than stay in hotels, I reserved this property on a whim and it was the best decision! Plenty of room for us to gather, cook, eat, play games and enjoy each other’s company. The proximity to Sequoia Park was a pleasant surprise too!
Many in our group said it felt like we were staying in grandma’s house - a bit rustic and nostalgic, but comfortable. Communication was great with the host - we wanted for nothing during our stay.
Thanks for an amazing weekend!

Excellent property
What a treat! There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and a nice bedroom and bath downstairs. The kitchen is beautifully stocked. The house is very roomy and very comfortable. We were there over Christmas and the owner very thoughtfully put up a tree and left decorations! In addition, communication with the owner is outstanding. She answered every email within 15-30 minutes. We loved the house, the owner is very easy to communicate with and we highly recommend the property.

I have been working with a crew from out of town here for the past 6 months. I have rented over 20 homes during our stay here through VRBO. This owner/host has been miserable to interact with. Every other rental has been grateful for our business, done everything they can to be accommodating and have only said kind things about our stays and treatment of their homes. In fact, a few volunteered to go out of their way to find additional accommodations for me and my crew on their properties. This owner has complained every step of the way and has unnecessarily made remedial transaction tedious, difficult and annoying. A faucet handle broke the first day. I reported it. She complained and implied it was our fault. It was not. It took two weeks to get fully replaced. There was regulars construction happening on the adjoining house. All scheduled on the weekends when my crew was trying to relax on the property. The owner scheduled visits to inside the home during our stay disrupting our privacy The property is a run down old house with little upkeep. There are piles of trash stacked up beside the house. The owner would not let us control the thermostat so the temperature was never comfortable in the home. There is a neighbor, intimately close, that shares a driveway and is the primary view from several windows. There is regular noise and traffic that disrupted us at all hours. There is a young man who regularly (everyday) was in the backyard screaming loudly for long periods. The yard was never maintained. There was an individual who would regularly be doing some maintenance, but would not pick up hedge clippings or completely mow the yard. I had to mow the yard myself a couple times with a hand rotary mower, so the yard could be remotely enjoyable to be in. There was no outdoor privacy on the property. People were constantly walking through our private spaces. The owner was obnoxious! I have over 40 texts and VRBO messages from her complaining about things that had nothing to do with us or was not in the rental agreement. She was regularly on the property (everyday) snooping on us and sorting garbage piles and making a lot of noise. We only stayed here because it was close to the Zoo where we were working. I would never stay in this unsatisfactory home again and hope I never have to interact with the owner again. I have never left a negative review, but this owner left me no choice. Avoid at all costs!

We brought the entire family for a quick visit to Eureka. We need to find a long term residence and started here as a home base. Turns out, this place is so fantastic for our extended family and dog that we will be staying much longer. We cannot Imagine finding a better house in a better location with a better host.

What a great place to stay in Eureka! Owner Margo had everything ready and waiting for our stay, had great tips on restaurants and things to see and do. Her place was so cozy and comfortable, I wanted to stay much longer and will be back for a longer visit as time allows. Quiet neighborhood, quiet surroundings, warm and welcoming place to relax and slow down!

Lovely spacious home.
We spent two weeks here visiting our West Coast family. Location was ideal since our 5-year-old granddaughter goes to school across the street. Easy to walk to the zoo, playground, Sequoia Park. House is well-equipped and furniture is cozy and comfortable. There are plenty of toys and games available too. Holly was very helpful. We had a nice Thanksgiving vacation here.

Simply perfect.
This is such a great location to explore the Redwood groves and the seashore. There is a city park less than a 1/2 mile away that is beautiful and full of huge Redwoods. While the house is in Eureka it is situated so you feel very private and in a rural area. We even saw a deer with two fawns in the backyard. House has everything you could want and the owner was extremely helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to go. It was "simply perfect ".

Quiet, spacious and peaceful rental
Our family of 4 enjoyed coming back to this comfortable large home for 3 nights after adventures exploring the Redwood State & National Parks further north. The neighborhood was quiet (school in front of house was out of session for the summer) and we felt safe. One morning, we saw a deer near the fence of the spacious backyard.
House had everything carefully prepared including items for children and plenty of literature for tourists, a very thoughtful gesture by the owner. The only disappointment was the checkout time at 9am. We would definitely recommend this rental to any families staying in Eureka.

DON'T LET THE UNKEPT YARD/WEEDS BE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION
Arriving to the property, you will be greeted with a once beautiful landscaped yard that has gone to weeds, with un-mowed lawns, exterior needs updating/repairs/paintgin, but................................
The interior is very very clean! The home is well stocked for everything you might need during your stay.
The one thing that is really really bad, is you DO NOT CONTROL YOUR HEAT, you have to call/email/text the owner who will in turn adjust the temperature(s), you have no control over it. We purchased a small space heater at a second hand store after 2 days of being cold, our comfort was then always perfect without having the trouble of waiting for the owners to change the setting, even received a text from them on the $16,000.00 "new" system to save money, which I am sure it does, but your personal comfort suffers in the meantime.
The owners are most gracious, lovely, Holly will go out of her way to make your stay enjoyable, with lots of local insights an out of town traveler would perhaps miss otherwise.
My wife was home alone while I was gone to the store, she noticed "someone" peeking through the windows during our stay, which was very concerning, then received a text message not to use our little heater to keep warm, the "Peeper" just "Happened to Notice" the little heater we purchased.
We are giving the property 5 stars because the owners are really trying, we have four (4) Oceanfront Vacation Rentals on the Oregon Coast, so do have a little experience/knowledge in keeping guests happy, but please note, we do have Vacasa as our property managers, so we can offer the best, above and beyond, for all guests.
Just the 2 of us, retirees with no pets, no children.
The large wooden decking is nice, but note you will not have privacy, as the long term tenant next door, who was a lovely person as well, looks down over the rear deck and yard.
Room for one car, off street, or maybe 2 compact cars, but ample street parking. Walking distance to the little zoo, which is beautiful, Safeway and other stores are very convenient.
Home without views, in the front, you look at the elementary school, in the back, some lovely giant redwood trees, that the owners said they are going to destroy/cut down (unfortunately), because they're "messy", so keep in mind you may not have those beautiful huge Redwoods when you arrive, sadly.
Overall, a beautiful home, though it comes with some strange happenings, that might not be appealing to some, such as privacy

A peaceful getaway
The house is quiet and comforting, just what I needed for a relaxing getaway. The yard is beautiful and has a large deck where I was able to enjoy the sun as well as listen and watch the birds in the trees. I would love to stay here again and definitely recommend renting this house to people looking for a great place to stay.

Gorgeous private but great location
We stayed with a newborn son and it was quiet and beautiful setting at the property besides a little bit of noise from the school only during pick up, mostly just car doors shutting. The property manager was so nice and very welcoming and super thoughtful going beyond what she could have offered and making sure all our needs were met. Especially accommodating if I asked for things, like plenty of toilet paper and paper towels also I don't think there was much I disliked. The back porch is awesome and the yard is gorgeous and the entire home was beautifully built. I scrubbed and cleaned my entire stay and kept up my chores the entire stay thanks to the washer and dryer and owner even supplies basic amenities cleaning utensils. Overall one of my favorite renting experiences and we've rented from different agencies. THANKS Holly for your hospitality

Peaceful and comfortable
What a lovely home! It is located in a beautiful and quiet part of town while also being close enough to shopping and the cute local zoo surrounded by the towering coast redwoods. The home has a sense of calming to it, making it a great place to get away and relax. The deck is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the fresh air and watch wildlife. Nice size kitchen and a variety of options for sleeping. Also an array of fun family board games and puzzles to partake in. Can't say enough positive things about this house! Also, the host is very sweet and wants your stay to be comfortable and rejuvenating. If you're looking for some peace and quiet as well as a nice size beautiful home to stay in while enjoying what the gorgeous Humboldt county has to offer, this is the spot!

Not ready for guests
This house isn't ready for to be rented out. We're a normal, considerate family with 5 children, and this house was a miserable place to stay because we had to be on our guard constantly, and we still lost our security deposit for silly reasons.
First, every room in the house, except the kitchen and dining room has WHITE carpet which you're not permitted to walk on with shoes. This doesn't make for a pleasant or convenient stay, especially in Eureka in a rain storm, and you can't even vacuum up what gets tracked in from the kitchen by your socks because the vacuum is broken.
In fact, a number of things in this house are broken or missing: vacuum, garbage disposal, stove vent, front and back doors are very difficult to close and pop open all the time, the bath takes 12 hours to drain fully, lean-to wall panels in the bedroom fell down randomly revealing the attic, the hinge on the broom closet fell off upon opening the door for the first time, the bathroom drawer pull fell off, the towel rack tumbled down, and the window panel separated. The staircase has a very low ceiling with nails sticking down that rip out your hair when you're going down. I am 6'5" and had to take extreme care on the stairs. The finish on the dining room table is tacky and soft, (maybe it wasn't fully cured?) and indents appear when you touch it. They accused us of using razor blades on it.
The info page says "fully-equipped kitchen," but it's not ready to cook a full meal in. There are no butcher knives, no cutting board, no mixing bowls, no ladle, etc. And unlike every other rental home we've stayed in, there are no spices or condiments in the entire house. If you need mustard, garlic salt, cinnamon, etc., you have to buy it, which makes cooking very expensive.
Also, the city has a very strict recycling system and the instructions that were left were incoherent. No paper towels in the recycle, plastic bags and "plastic films" (whatever those are) in the bag under the sink, etc. etc. Not sure what we did wrong, but I'm sure we did something because the instructions made no sense.
The listing says this house has TVs, but they don't tell you what they mean by that. They exist, but they're not televisions; they're tiny, like computer monitors. Smaller than my laptop, actually. When I read that a house has a TV/DVD player, I expect something more than a 12" screen.
We lost our security deposit and would have been better off staying at a motel for half the price.

Clean & organized! Margo (the owner) has thought of everything you'll need for a great stay!
We were impressed with all the visor info at the house. We enjoyed the town & the sweet little zoo. We also enjoyed the location of the house, we had time to take day trips to nearby attractions & we still made it back in time to see a movie at the local theater. We are a family of 7 so the price was great for the size of the house. Thanks again Margo!
