La nourriture est fraîche et les saveurs agréables.
Le pain blanc peut être remplacé par un pain plus riche.

El mar, la vista y el buen trato del personal.

Right on the beach
We felt unwelcome, like we were bothering them by being there. When you put up with things like bed bugs, no mozzie net, no fan in 30 degree heat, no shower, being 20 minute drive out of town... you do so for the exchange of a genuine experience with good vibe and connection. We definitely did not experience that :((( we wanted to love it but unfortunately I kind of hated it

It is an amazing hostel just at the beach outside of La Libertad city centre. Very calm, chilled vibe, surf rental and great breakfast. Overall it was a perfect stay!

The place is super cool, you won’t find anything like it. It is literally ON the water. The animals that live there are very sweet and adorable.
The owner very kindly offered to come get me from my hostel in San Salvador and he took me to a couple touristy things I wanted to do on the way.
I was told multiple times that I could have a vegan breakfast. My first morning, there was nothing. Second morning, they literally just gave me beans and an avocado. Next morning, same. Which is strange, because other people staying there received rice, plantains, etc. Then, when I checked out: $3.50 PER breakfast!!! That is insane. If it was a full breakfast, sure. But just beans and an avocado? No. I paid less for 6 pupusas down the street.
There are many children running around and while they were sweet, they kept us up the first night because they were downstairs playing games on their phones together loudly. Like, 3-5 in the morning.
The dogs bark THROUGHOUT the night. At everything.
The light by my tent didn’t work, so when the sun went down, I had to use my phone flashlight.
I paid the same amount as everyone else and somehow ended up in the one tent the place had. There were many empty beds…
The beach is so filthy. This isn’t Pelicano’s fault, but there is so much trash that I ended up just avoiding the beach eventually.
They didn’t have water.
The shower is in the middle of the downstairs area and the curtains flap in the wind, exposing you to everyone in the common area.
I love the concept, but I will not return or recommend.

Right on the beach. Can’t get any closer
Overpriced. And the shower isn’t great. Dogs, cats, and children running around

The place is right on the beach about 1km west from Punta Roca. It’s a wooden and palm house, which looks nice. The owner is very nice, energetic and has a full surf vibe. The food they cook is really good, although more expensive than what it says on Booking. Cheap sodas and beer available.
The location is kind of nice, but at the same time not so close to the good surf spots nor from the city-centre. The waves in front of Pelicano are terrible or just white waves with a lot of speed. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower (which is in the middle of everything and half-open…) for all the 12-16 guests + owners’ family. The beds and pillows are of low quality. There are no mosquito-nets although it’s listed on Booking, and the mosquitoes are quite present. There was one fan in our room, which was loosely hanging on the wall and hard to put in a good manner. There are a lot of dogs and cats there, which are usually nice, but annoying when you have food. You can rent a surfboard, but you cannot change board for 24h if it doesn’t suit you.
You cannot use the kitchen or fridge, even though they tolerate bringing food from oustside.

The property is literally build on the beach so you could wake up and take a swim or go surfing. The owner of the property and his wife are very cool people and he gives great surf lessons with his "son".
We rented a tent without realising it wasn't big enough for us to lie stretched. But thats our own fault.

Directly at the beach front
Nice atmosphere
Free and good coffee until 8 am
The stuff was available at all times
Quite place
The most sever problem was the missing mosquitoe net at a place that is literally bleeding sandflies. You end up itching yourself the whole night.
No drinking water.
At around 6 pm there was almost no water for showering anymore while you want to remove the sand at your body.

The location direct at the beach is pretty nice. Also the building itself with the hammocks ist beautiful and for sure the puppy’s.
The personal seemed unmotivated and it looked like the don’t like their jobs. They still answered questions and were friendly, but normally the people here are more welcoming and heartwarming.
We booked a tent, but it had holes in it and even you couldn’t close the zipper.
There are cockroaches. The cats staying in the kitchen. This is not what I expect for a restaurant kitchen. The breakfast in the morning is not good and not enough. And for sure I missed my own kitchen, where I can make a coffee, when ever I want to. Sometimes we asked for coffee, but it was not possible to get.

We liked Pelicano Surf Hostel a lot! Its a bit out of El Tunco, but no problem at all since its super easy and cheap to catch the Bus to El Tunco (~5 min Ride). The beach is way nicer than the one in El Tunco, and it has more of a chill vibe and also feels less commercial and more natural. The owners are super nice and Help you with everything. Good WiFi. Fishplate for 6$ was plenty and delicious. Beds were comfortable. Would recommend everyone, who likes to be in Nature, to stay here instead of booking overpriced rooms in El Tunco. + They had the cutest little puppies ;)

Roxy was very kind and helpful and even let me use her bicycle to go into town when I needed to draw money. You don't really have to leave the place as there are plenty of rustic restaurants on the strip that make excellent food, and the water is perfect for swimming. What a treat to wake up and be right on the beach's doorstep. Stayed here for 3 nights while I worked remotely but wish I could've stayed longer!Would love to come back one day. The WiFi is good enough for calls and the place is kept clean and is attended by respectful, chilled out guests.
Only thing I would suggest is upgrading the fan in the dorm as ours was a bit small and didn't rotate so could only be felt by one person in the room.

Pretty beach. Nice people.
Many mosquitos. Not place for someone who wants to spend time in bathroom.

The hostel is directly on the beach and the owners are soooo super friendly.
And also the food is amazing.
You are almost alone one the beach, there are just some nice locals.
It's a.really small hostel so the vibe is just lovely.
And you are in the nature, so of course maybe you have some animals around.
I loved this place. :)

Location on the beach is amazing, owners are really really nice and friendly, quiet spot, easy to get around by bus (El Tunco, Tamanique or El Zonte), room with an ocean view, chill vibes, everything was great.
Thank you for having us!
I liked everything but this would not be for someone looking for anything fancy. It is very basic and simple but perfect for us :-)

The hostel is right on the beach and Ulises and his family is an absolute joy to stay with. They are so kind
There is no communal kitchen. For me that is no problem but i can imagine people want to cook in their hostel

The owners were so lovely and the food from the restaurant was super tasty! One of the most relaxing places I've stayed at during my trip, tonees of space, wonderful untouched El Salvadoran community and top notch beach!
Don't have any complaints whatsoever.

The property didn’t want me to check in because they didn’t have any more bed sheets. I had to sleep in my car

This was an incredible stay and really felt like a once in a lifetime stay. it is simply a hut on the beach in a stunning location on the beach. the room is just sectioned off with a curtain and there is no real window but waking up and seeing the sunrise and falling asleep to the sound of the sea is amazing. Ulisses and his family were exceptional hosts and it enhanced an already an already unforgettable stay. we also took the surf lessons and had an amazing time. I would recommend this to anyone considering booking.
