About this cottage rental
Cozy Sunny Oceanfront Cottage on your own private point with 250ft of coastal frontage and unobstructed ocean views from each of the 8 windows in the living room. Experience peace and tranquility as you gaze at the golden sunset reflecting across the water. Enjoy the wonder of nature as you watch our local bald eagle, loons, Canada geese, ducks, deer, turkey and many local birds. Watch the lobsterman pull his traps, seagulls harvest their clams, and osprey dive for dinner….. or cast your own fishing pole off the rocks and fish for stripers … just steps from your front door. Nature's entertainment is constantly changing just outside your window. It’s no wonder that Maine nurtures so many artists and poets. Our beautiful surroundings are the inspiration for the poet to translate words into emotion and the artist to transform paint into a vision.
The cottage is 5 minutes from Brunswick which hosts an abundance of great restaurants, shops, cinemas, golf courses, museums, bike and walking paths, and the popular Maine Music Theatre. Smithsonian Magazine voted Brunswick as one of America’s best small towns in 2012. Maine’s largest city, historic Portland, is only 45 minutes away…..Although one would wonder why you would ever want to leave. So sit back, relax, and remember days gone by, when life was simpler and vacations were a time for rest, relaxation and renewal.

Outstanding on every count! Owner (Diane) could not have been more helpful and accommodating. House and grounds have been scrupulously maintained -- even the windows had been washed just before our arrival. Kitchen and bedrooms were well appointed and supplied with everything a visitor might need. Secluded and calendar-quality waterfront setting and scenery provided all the peace and privacy one could desire. We'll definitely be back!

Located just steps from the water, our 1-weeks stay at Sunny Cottage was perfect in every way. The cottage is charming, comfortable & the perfect size for 2 people to enjoy and relax. The cottage is located on a slightly elevated private point of land jutting out into the water with 270 degrees of unobstructed water views (from inside and outside) that constantly change with the tides and there's no shortage of wildlife including bald eagles that soar above you and visit every day taking roost in a large pine just outside the cottage door. Amazing views and the sunsets were stunning. The cottage and grounds are well maintained with careful stewardship deserving of a special place. The interior comfortable and tastefully appointed with everything you need and nothing you don't. The main living space/bedroom has ample room to move around, the kitchen just the right size for 2 people, the bathroom small but you figure it out. Harpswell is an interesting mix of narrow peninsulas and dozens of islands with some of the best scenic views in Maine and great casual places to eat. We found the cabin's location on the upper end of the peninsulas made it easy to get around, shop and travel within Harpswell and up/down the coast. Diane is a wonderful host, friendly, vastly knowledgeable about the area and history with insights and recommendations only a long time local would know, helpful when needed and respectful of your privacy. Our expectations were pleasantly exceeded.

We were thrilled by the incredible 270 degree view of the Bay visible from the room and the cottage’s proximity to the water. The location simply couldn’t be better: Private and quiet, yet ten minutes from charming downtown Brunswick and extensive food, supplies and interesting stores and restaurants. In addition, Diane was a wonderful host: friendly, thoughtful and totally respecting our privacy. Without our asking, she even changed our towels halfway through the week since it had been damp weather and always responded instantly to our requests. What more could we ask?ithisidyllicsettsettsetting? We will most certainly return.

We enjoyed a truly relaxing week at Diane’s extremely clean and comfortable cottage by the sea.

The charm of this cottage is its location. Surrounded on three sides by water, it affords endless opportunities to decompress and watch Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herson, Egrets, Ospreys, deer and turkey, Terns diving for fish . . . A balm for the soul. Small in stature it may be, big it is BIG in charm and vistas. Diane, the owner, lives close by, and while you would never know she was there, she is always ready to help with anything that you may need or answer your questions.

“Interlude” is the name of this property and it perfectly describes this haven along the shore of Casco Bay. Upon arriving, we were met with the warm and genuine greeting of our host. It was like meeting a dear, longtime friend after time had passed. The cottage is perfect for two people. The bedroom/living room facing the bay, and the pine framed shore is spacious and well appointed as the entire cottage. The decoration of the interior is tastefully chic. The exterior can only be described as a “park like “setting maintained yard featuring lawn flowers, the ubiquitous hydrangeas various colors and trees.
What quickly became our favorite was “The Point,” located steps from the cottage featuring two Adirondack chairs and side table, offering an unparalleled view of middle Cove. We saw several adult and immature, bald eagles, and Osprey’s. The ladder dive bombing for fish. The typical morning would find us out on the point in the Adirondacks, enjoying our morning, coffee. Fish, jumping, birds, calling, brilliant sunshine, reflecting off the diamond like water would round out on morning experience.
Sunset, spectacular, and breathtaking for us as we watch the brilliant sun slowly below the horizon: a blaze of orange use. Tranquil and harbinger of the promise that a new day offered. Some, vacations consist of a to do list and their time is spent literally running from one event to another.we knew what we wanted to relax to recharge rest. That is what we have found at Interlude.

This is the perfect place for a couple who wants to be on the water, read peacefully, enjoy the treescape and yet be close to everything, good food, other towns on the coast both North and South. Best visit, Rockland for the Farnsworth Museum, food and shopping. Loved being on this peninsula.

To begin with, the location is simply wonderful. 10 minutes from Brunswick which is a great base for explorations with Wild Oats Cafe (great sandwiches, salads, cakes, coffee, and tasteful gifts), Gelato Fiasco, and Broadway Deli (great breakfast place). Also 10 minutes from the Harpswell Cliff Walk. Roughly 45 minutes from Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. The cottage is basically a giant bedroom with a small kitchen and bathroom attached. The bedroom has a 180-degree view of Middle Bay Cove. We would come back from our explorations to watch the sunset at our private point, feeling this might be the best view of the whole trip. To top it off, bald eagles frequented the trees above the cottage. Once we heard a whoosh as one flew up behind us. And Diane is super caring, helpful, and informative.

We were visiting family members in the area of this charming cottage. It was perfectly located for us and amply supplied with "The Best" suggestions for things to do and places to eat in between visits. The Tourist Cabinet was organized with maps and brochures for the exact directions to get to each one. The cottage was the perfect size for two people and had every imaginable supply you could need. It was also charming with a coastal theme and newly planted window boxes. The owner was only a phone call, text, or knock on the door away. And that's not all. The focal point was the water - a small peninsula led you to the Adirondack chairs, where the three-sided view was spectacular. We enjoyed watching the seagulls search for shells at low tide and then drop them onto the rocks to be able to get them open. We even saw an eagle sweep down and steal one out from under a baffled gull. In addition, I saw my first bluebirds in decades. The entire property was calming and rejuvenating. And then, to top it off, there were spectacular sunsets. We can't say enough positive about our week-long stay. We would definitely book again.

This cottage's jaw-dropping vista is in a quiet location, allowing me time to unwind and enjoy being alone, meditating, or even staring out the window or from one of the Adirondack chairs at the very tip of the property. With shopping, hiking, and entertainment just four miles away, I could jump in with others if I so desired. Diane, my host, was lovely and was there when and if I needed anything. The hardest part was leaving.

Diane and her property are a dreamy get away. Quaint, warm, comfortable, scenic, and peaceful waterfront property close to all of the local Harpswell amenities. Diane goes above and beyond. It felt like staying with family. Would definitely recommend!

The location is ideal. The cottage on a brilliant piece of property offers great views, privacy and a very quiet, natural environment. Only 10 minutes from downtown Brunswick and Route 1 , you have easy access to many nice restaurants and easy travels to other great spots like Portland, Freeport, Bath, Boothbay and many more.
Diane, our host was simply the best. Very friendly, kind , helpful and totally respectful of our privacy.
We hope to have an opportunity to stay here again in the near future!

The hosts of this retreat, Diane and Larry, could not have been more welcoming or informative. Diane has a very well organized "tourist booth" right inside the cabin: sightseeing, restuarants, museums and many other area attractions.
This cabin is truly special as it sits on it's own little pennisula, away from the big house so it's very private. Really clean and well organized kitchen, but the bathroom is kinda small. But hey, you're in a cabin in the Maine woods not a spa lol! It too is just right...the bedroom has a comfy king bed with a good variety of pillows to lounge around on after your hikes or touring lighthouses. There's a table in front of the big windows which face west for the fantastic sunsets. the table has a drop leaf so you can have your coffee there and plan your day. The yard has access to the water so you can toss a fishing line in if so inclined at high tide. And the entire property itself is so beautifully landscaped with flowers blooming in all the right places!!
We had such a relaxing vacation there we are thinking of going back in the fall.
Thank you Diane and Larry for such a great week in Maine!

The cottage is on a really lovely quiet small peninsula sticking out into the cove. You can hear the road a bit and see a few other houses, but overall it's so peaceful and private and beautiful. Swimming possible at high tide. Or just sit in the chairs and watch the eagles and the seals and feel very happy to be in Maine! Diane was a great host, friendly but really gave us our privacy. And the cottage is very comfortable, clean, and pretty. A great stay!

My husband and I made a long-overdue return to Maine after many years and this little cottage on its own Western-facing point exceeded our expectations in every way. Beautiful. Quiet. Private. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, with recommendations for local restaurants, hikes, etc. The bed and accommodations were very and comfortable and the sunsets were absolutely stunning! No doubt, we’ll be staying here again!

This property is very well kept. The cottage is clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed and a beautiful view of the bay from two sides.
Diane was accessible for questions and advice.
There are many excellent places to eat close by. We particularly enjoyed Gurnet Trading Company. They had excellent prices on steamed lobster and delicious onion rings!
We had a couple of days of fishing at high tide and landed a few striped bass!
We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you Diane!

The cottage was wonderful in every way. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to go back. The scenery and location just can’t be beat. The cottage is well appointed, comfortable, and charming. Diane, the hostess, was friendly, helpful, and a joy to interact with. We will definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family.

We liked the little cottage and the location was perfect! The views were stunning, but we felt the bathroom was terribly small and it became incredibly hot due to no air circulation (despite opening the window). Also, due to the size and layout of the bathroom, we had to brush our teeth, and do our hair in the kitchen. For a 7 night stay we paid a total of $2406.72 which included a cleaning fee of $100 above and beyond the nightly rate, taxes, and service fees. At $343.82 per night, we expected an impeccably clean cottage and not to have to deal with insects, but we fought ants during our entire stay. It was a big inconvenience as minimal insect control has been enacted by the owners. They should invest in TempoSC to safely control ants in the cottage.
Overall, we did not feel that the price per night matched the accommodations, although the cottage location was wonderful as well as the hostess being wonderful.

Maine has been on our bucket list for a long time. This was the perfect size cottage and location for us. Diane was so knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting places to visit, eat, shop, etc. We saw bald eagles, seals, ducks, chipmunks….all at the cottage. If you have been thinking about visiting Maine, do it! It is a gorgeous part of the country.

Our stay was spectacular and the owners are the most enjoyable people. Loved the place, great privacy, beautiful views and plenty of wildlife to see right from the yard. Gorgeous sunsets and comfortable place to stay and enjoy the surroundings. Plenty of good places to eat nearby and fresh lobsters right down the road. We look forward to coming back!

My wife and I stayed at the cottage in August 2022, and we had a perfect week. The cottage and the yard are even more beautiful than they appear in the pictures. You'll see the most gorgeous sunsets!
We were amazed by the amount of wildlife we got to see: eagles, ospreys catching fish in the water, even a seal.
Diane was an exceptional host and will help you find the best things to do (and eat!) in the area. We were particularly grateful for her recommendations of local walks. We tried five of them and you really can't go wrong--the woods and shoreline are beautiful.
The cottage is the perfect size for two people. The bedroom is quite spacious and was a comfortable place for reading and playing board games as well as for sleeping. We didn't end up cooking much, but the kitchen has plenty of prep space, so that would definitely be an option. One thing I particularly enjoyed: the tap water tastes great!
We really enjoyed visiting nearby Brunswick as well. If you forgot to bring something to read, there are plenty of bookstores (we really enjoyed Bull Moose).
In general, it's an equally great place to stay if you're looking to have a quiet week on the point or if you want to go out and have adventures (we did both!), so I wholeheartedly recommend a visit. Thank you, Diane!

Spent a week exploring Harpswell and Brunswick while staying in this very clean, comfortable and well appointed cabin. The view from the point is spectacular - pictures don’t do it justice. Amazing sunsets every night. Watched the ebb and flow of the tides and the waterfowl. Good Wi-Fi, excellent location for exploring, comfortable platform bed, very helpful and gracious host - we really enjoyed our stay and would rent it again.

Cottage on the point
Diane and Larry are great to deal with. The check in and check out process could not have been easier. The cottage is clean and tidy, just as advertised. The view is second to none, we enjoyed long sits on the chairs watching eagles, snowy egrets and all of the wonderful wildlife that the tidal cove has to offer. I would definitely return. Peaceful retreat
Beautiful Maine cottage situated on a quiet and peaceful inlet. We absolutely loved it! Perfect for 2 people. Clean and well appointed with all the amenities needed for a week stay. A wonderful shoreline to launch a kayak, observe bald eagles and herons, or explore the shoreline as the tide recedes. And of course, gorgeous sunsets. every night. The owner is lovely and available if anything is needed. I look forward to staying here again.

A wonderful week at a wonderful spot
We had stayed several times in Maine, but knew nothing about Harpswell. It turned out to greatly exceed our expectations . Lots of great hiking trails, lobster restaurants and other things to do. The cottage was delightful: very comfortable with everything we needed. Fabulous views from every window. Resident family of bald eagles. We wouldn't have changed a thing.

Just what we were looking for!
What a cozy, charming cottage on a magnificent piece of property. We returned early from our daytime adventures simply to sit out on the point to enjoy the calm and the view. Many thanks to Diane for being so accomodating with our last minute reservations and for the care with which she greets her guests.

R&R in a wonderful spot!
The Cottage on the Point has a splendid location, with tidal waters lapping on three sides. The large windows in the cottage, and the adirondack chairs on the shady tip of the point, afford great opportunities to observe the habits of eagles, osprey, herons, egrets, cormorants, eider ducks, terns, and gulls. The cottage itself offers old-fashioned comforts and all the kitchen equipment one might need. Owners are gracious and welcoming, but entirely respectful of a guest's privacy, much appreciated! The upper Harpswell location is close to shopping and lovely "architecture walks" on the Bowdoin campus and the residential streets of Brunswick. It is an easy shot to other enticing pleasures of mid-Coast Maine, but always a pleasure to return to the cottage. My thanks to the Baileys!
