We rented the house for three nights and really loved our time. It gives a bad first impression because unlike the title on the listing there is nothing luxurious about the house at all. It’s a well maintained house the seems to be built in the mid 80’s or early 90’s and has had very few updates. The furniture is hodgepodge and none of it is nice or in great condition. The bed and bedding is just average. All this said it was comfortable, spacious, in the redwoods with a hot tub and a five minute drive to Mendocino village. As an added bonus the kitchen was well adorned, which was nice. We bought fruit and veggies at the Friday farmers market and they were absolutely amazing to cook with. The house manager seems to do a good job and the management company seemed very on top of things. There were lots of towels and they had extra heaters you could use in the bathroom or whatever. We didn’t want to leave. I would give it five stars if the fireplace use wasn’t prohibited (seems to be an HOA restriction related to fire prevention, but it’s a gas fireplace so I can’t see why it isn’t allowed).

We stayed for 4 days in the cabin while we explored the area. The cabin is conveniently located near the town of Mendocino. We could walk from the cabin to downtown and it was only a little over a mile. The drive to the nearby state parks, Fort Bragg and the skunk train was quick and easy. The cabin itself was quiet and clean. We cooked there every night and they had everything we needed to do so. We saw deer in the yard every morning. It’s a lovely vacation spot

Carlo and Flavia were very helpful hosts and helped us arrange our transport from the airport to the property in the historic center. Everything was clean and functioning and in a fabulous location! Be prepared to pay a little extra for air-conditioning if you’re there in very hot summer months, but totally worth it! Highly recommend!

This is a gorgeous house and we loved the setting, convenient location, and big windows. It was very clean. We appreciated the managers communicativeness.
With rentals like this you dont know if the place will be stocked with kitchen essentials, books, games. This one is on the more minimal end of things. We had what we needed to get by with some creativity and they had salt and olive oil but no books, games, and no cheese grater for example. I don’t think that’s an issue, but it’s worth mentioning to let future guests know what to bring.

Location is great.

Perfect private romantic. Location is incredible. So close to everything. Beautiful surroundings. It’s outdated but still fully functional and clean. Cozy. LOVED the hot tub. So peaceful and lots of natural light. Deer walked right up to the railing as we watched from the kitchen. Would stay here again for sure.

Such a perfect location and just what we were looking for - a romantic and peaceful getaway in a beautiful town. We love and appreciate how the home is tucked away and very private. The layout of the house is open and airy and allows for so much natural light. The hot tub is on a very nice deck which is perfectly located close to a private entrance from the master bathroom. The hot tub was heated and ready, clean, and easy to use. Deer visited us and we were able to view them right from the kitchen / living room. There were plenty of towels and the right about of kitchenware to be able to make home cooked meals. We would definitely stay here again, but this time with the kids since there is plenty of space and would also be a great place for a family getaway.

Perfect place for 3 friends to relax, visit and enjoy the rainy January weather. Close to town and to the ocean. Nice paths and quiet road to walk among the redwoods.

Our stay was wonderful! The home was clean and cozy. Everything we needed was there. When the fire place went out, someone was there to repair it within moments! Great service. We’ll be back!

Four of us stayed here for a girls trip. Great location in a quiet redwood setting, yet very short drive to the village of Mendocino. The home has a lovely wrap around deck. We had a maintenance item pop up during our visit and Vacasa took care of it and also communicated with us until it was resolved. Well stocked kitchen for making meals. Very clean, and plenty of towels. Downstairs beds were comfy. Upstairs bed in loft is a futon and was not as comfortable, but still OK. Having a washer abs dryer is a nice feature too. We wishes check out would have been 11 AM or noon which is more inline with other home rentals we have done. I would stay here again!

Amazing property! Love the wrap around deck with the banana slugs. Soaking tub felt great in the mist. Everything was perfect except… none of the chairs or couches were swept or vacuumed underneath. There were old socks and dust bunnies underneath them. Also, the steps that to get in the hot tub broke as it was old and fragile. But we’d definitely come back just for the ambiance alone… it really is a nice home. We would come back for sure, it’s very quite and peaceful. The host were quick to respond to us, very professional. We thank you for that.

Nice cozy cabin with good amenities and close to Mendocino town center.
Easy check in and check out. Great service by Vacasa team. The customer service was very helpful when we got locked out of the house!

Beautiful surroundings. We loved the neighbor cat. If you can, bring your own pillows. Place is great otherwise.

Home was clean and cimfortable. Could have used another spatula. Bare minimum...security is a problem. Front door lock did not work and sliding glass door did not work. Thank you for your immediate response to our security issue.

I have visited this home twice in the last year and so enjoyed the beauty, silence and deep sense of relaxation that the abode provides. The view from the cathedral windows are spectacular!

This home is positive on all the major points, but misses the mark on the details. Here are the negatives:
Hot tub had a very strong chemical smell and feel, (my son ducked his head under and burned his eyes).
Gas log fireplace was extremely difficult to operate. (singed the hair off my hand). After fiddling with the knob for a while you can finally get it to turn on, then wait for the whooof when you get it to light.
There was not anything resembling a fry pan or skillet in the kitchen. (There is now thanks to the local thrift store)
Bedroom decoration is fairly stark.
There is no gas/charcoal grill. (I know this is the owners choice.)
Mattresses are not very good.
I know that is a lot of nit picking and actually it is a nice place to stay (clean, quiet, lovely forest location, well maintained (except the fireplace), and good hot water) but with a little tlc it could be a bit better.

Thank you so much! It was a wonderful place, so quiet, clean and cute! We had a great time! Mendocino was so cute, we loved it!

We loved this place
If you want to stay in a nice big place in the middle of redwoods with a hottub and beautiful big Windows next to Mendocino then this place is it. Downside only is don’t expect to be able to reach prior to your reservation the management company. We had a great time and would highly recommend Russian Gulch waterfall trail and the Mendocino botanical gardens. This place was everything I had hoped for. Thanks

Great Log Cabin in the Woods But No Cell Service
Super great location close to town. Beautiful home and nature at its best located in such a magical forest setting. The only downside that should have been mentioned in the ad is that there is no cell phone service. That is really important for travelers to know. I needed to work remotely on the weekdays and had counted on that but could not. And of course could receive any Text security codes by cell phone to manage much of anything including personal banking, etc. The beds are not very comfortable but still the home is extremely a relaxing environment as long as you can get by without using your cell phones for Text or Calls,

Beautiful cosy house in redwoods nest
We loved our weekend gateway in this beautiful redwoods nest. We felt we were in the middle of nature with the trees around us. The bonus is definitely the hot tub which is also located perfectly amidst the redwoods.
This is a perfect place if you want to be away from the hustle bustle of the city and enjoy nature. Also perfectly located from Mendocino downtown and 10min away from Fort Bragg!

Perfect Retreat in the Redwoods
This home was super convenient to the town, the beaches and amazing hiking trails. It was also very comfortable, clean and a perfect weekend getaway. I highly recommend it and will definitely rent here again.

An Exquisite Home Away From Home
Redwood Rest is nestled in an exquisite redwood sanctuary that surrounds the home. The house is enlivened with cathedral two story windows that give a stunning view of the trees rain or shine. The kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms are all up to date, spacious and comfortable. The fireplace in the living room sets a cozy feeling while you relax. I would definitely rent this vacation home again and again!

Remote feel but close to everything
Great family cabin with room to spread out. Good Jacuzzi, plenty of towels provided. Nice kitchen, washer and dryer are also good perks. We were there during a bad drought (fall, 2021), but it didn’t impact our unit except we tried to conserve. The town of Mendocino and the Big River beaches are both close by, and if you want more to do, more commercialized Ft. Bragg is less than 20 minutes to the north.

Very nice home
The house is extremely clean. There are abundant towels and kitchen ware for use. Pleasant to find some spices and whatnot if your forget anything. Home is secluded somewhat, but still in a neighborhood. Like others the beds need some updating but overall comfortable. Down side are the beds and fees from the site which for a 2 night stay doubled the cost.

Wonderful getaway
If you love big trees, a well working hot tub and gas fireplace and lots of windows oh, this is the place. I just so absolutely peaceful. It was exceptionally clean and easily enjoyed.

Met our needs
The house is nothing special but met all our needs for a long weekend with our one-year old and four-year old.

This house is located in a woodsy area not far from downtown Mendocino. Beautiful tall trees surround the house with a large wraparound deck with plastic Adirondack chairs. Check-in was easy, but we had several bumps in our stay after that-- the house was not cleaned well: floors dirty and sticky, upstairs table with sticky food left on it. Since we are in the midst of a pandemic, I went through and thoroughly cleaned upon check-in. On day 2 of our stay, we had trouble with the key pad on the door to get in. Upon realizing it wasn't working, since we were running late for an excursion, we left our door unlocked and we contacted Vacasa (the mgmt company) later in the afternoon. Cell service is bad, so we needed to contact them from the house phone. Vacasa connected us with a local manager who texted me when we were cut out of service. Local manager reported she would have someone come check the lock, though made it clear that it would be difficult to have a staff deployed since it was after 5pm. We were out again on a evening hike with our kids when manager reported that she had someone go to the house to check it and there was nothing wrong with it. We arrived back to the house and the door was still unlocked. Next day, same problem- key pad would not work and it was obvious that nobody had been sent to change the batteries as we had requested. We again left the door unlocked and packed our valuables in our car and left for a day long excursion in the redwoods after calling Vacasa to make a formal complaint about the door keypad not working, the sliding back door not working, the hot tub jets not working, and the condition of the house upon check in. The Vacasa support person was very kind and helpful. Local management was not. We wound up being refunded $100 for the inconvenience, but did not get the cleaning fee or the hot tub fee (yes, Vacasa charges a hot tub fee) refunded as we had requested. The house is dated and there is not adequate furniture in the living area to all sit comfortably. The shower and bathroom connected to the bedroom had mildew on the showered and needs updating. The window coverings appeared newly refreshed and were quite nice. Would have thought that our concern about the door lock not working would have been taken more seriously since it is the only way to lock the house. Would not stay at the house again due to the level of inconvenience combined with the cleaning and maintenance issues.
