About this house rental

*** This home is people friendly, and not pet friendly. ***

When you stay at Three Coves Hideaway, you’ll enjoy a San Juan Island location that is second to none. The home faces west over Haro Straight, so you will bask in amazing sunsets and have a view of the twinkling lights of Victoria BC at night. Oh, and since you’ll have a front row seat over the migratory route of our resident Orca whales, it’s very likely that you’ll hear them blowing and be able to watch them doing their whale thing right from your deck! Three Coves is also adjacent to beautiful San Juan County Park, a world-renowned destination for kayaking. A path leads from the property to the park so those so motivated might carry a kayak down a path that leads to the park. (Those less motivated might simply drive a minute or two to the beach.) There is also a path that leads downward to a private cove that is shared with a few nearby residences.

Couples and families will find this home spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is a chef’s dream, featuring granite counters, a deluxe gas stove, a large island capped with butcher block, and all the household items you need for meal preparation. The great room includes a dining table, elevated bar table, plush leather seating, a cozy wood-burning fireplace (BYOWood), and window seats focused to the view. The master bedroom is also on this main level, featuring a king size bed and en-suite bath with jetted tub, separate shower, and dual vanities. A powder room is also on this main level.

Upstairs, a large loft overlooks the living room below. This is where you’ll head to watch satellite TV, listen to music, and play a game of pool. One of the sofas opens to form a queen size bed. Two additional bedrooms are located downstairs. One offers a private deck and a second king size bed, the other bedroom is equipped with both a twin bed and a double bed. These bedrooms share a bath with shower and dressing table. A laundry/utility room is also on this lower level. It is impossible not to have an incredible vacation experience when you stay at Three Coves Hideaway.

Please note there are 13 steps to get to the entrance.

My husband and I stayed here with our daughter, son-in-law and their two children. The house fit our needs perfectly. While there are a few maintenance items that need attending, the house as described. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and large. We cooked most of our meals there and very much enjoyed eating out on the deck. The view is spectacular from dining area, living room and deck. And, the easy access to the beach was great. We took our kayaks and paddle boards to the water via the county park next door. We had a terrific time! I would recommend.

We (family of six adults) spent a week here in July 2023. Terrific views of Puget Sound and long-range view of Victoria Island. The island (San Juan) is essentially a rural island with a couple of population centers - Friday Harbor / small town and Roche Harbor is really just a resort with a few stores. Great hikes nearby. English Camp my fav. For the property itself - it was terrific. Big, lots of amenities. Kitchen is well stocked (except could use a couple of frying pans of reasonable size). The fire table is great. Fire pit could not be used when we were there due to county fire restrictions. There is a county park right next door and you'll occasionally hear some "campers" or parties of locals. Not too big a deal but the noise is there. The driveway is a challenge. Very steep and loose gravel. We had a heavy van and had to get some momentum going up the hill to make it onto the road. Not for the faint of heart:) They have an electronic keyboard - with a couple of song books. Fun. Billiard table is a fine one. Could have used some screens in the upstairs loft. 2 were completely missing. For some reason the bottom two bedrooms are very cold. We couldn't figure that one out. Lots of board games and books - fun. The deck is glorious - spent a lot of time there. We were very thankful for Leila from Northwest Island Escapes who answered our requests, provided supplies and even did our laundry when machines were down. Pricey? Yes. Great place.

Great house with plenty of room for 7 adults. We loved our stay on the island!!! Highly recommend the house and the island to other vacationing families. Pros: - view and outside deck with grill and propane fire pit - comfortable beds - 3 bathrooms - indoor fire place - plenty of seating for everyone Cons: - while there were a lot of kitchen items most were very used, to the point of being unusable now. Everything is very spread out over many cabinets and drawers so we found ourselves searching for things often. There was everything you didn’t need and not a lot of what you do. That being said, we were able to cook every dinner there with some change in the normal pot or pan.

All 1 star only because I had tp put something in the box. I would of LOVED to stay at this property. I STILL would lOVE to stay there. That said - we made reservations Dec 8 2021 for a stay Mar 19-23, 2022. There were problems with the home (water damage) and although the damage was apparently discovered by the owner and the rental agency we were NOT informed before our departure. We had a message a few days prior to March 18 stating that the rental would be available March 19th as planned. Then we were told the rental was not available on March 18 as were driving from Montana to Washington. MARCH 18th!!!! WHILE WE WERE HALF WAY TO THE LOCATION! Distressing doesn't begin to describe how we felt - 7 of us in transit - children out of school - months of planning and a last minute oops. I know things happen and there are things that cannot be controlled but apparently the parties knew there was a problem and gave no indication to us of any issues until the last minute. A message that our rental was no longer available. WHAT?! Very very very disappointing! Then the company gave us 1 option - 1 option in an outdated, smaller, less desireable location. Talk about destroying a long planned out vacation and making us feel like what we wanted was insignificant. We were expected to just settle for the 1 place on their portfolio. As a client I felt helpless and let down. So much to say but what would be the point?! Whole experience was horrible.
