About this house rental
Incredibly convenient, gracious home, perfect for large families. Spend days relaxing on the wraparound porch watching the boats sway in the harbor. Five minute walk to downtown, restaurants, ferry, grocery store, and library. Private path down to private section of the beach with plenty of room to pull up kayaks and other small boats.
The downstairs consists of dining room (seats 10-12), kitchen, living room (divided into a sitting area overlooking the harbor and TV watching area with large plasma TV), glassed-in sunroom with dining table, and a laundry room with half bath. Also downstairs, with full harbor views, is a bedroom suite with private deck and entrance. The first room has a queen bed, the second has a double bed. Accessible through the first bedroom is a full bath. There is an outdoor shower (summer months only) off of the kitchen.
The second floor has four more bedrooms (three of which face the harbor) and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, harbor views, and an attached bathroom (also accessible through the hallway). The bathroom has converted claw foot tub shower. A second bedroom (also with harbor views) has a double bed and a single bed and a private bathroom with a converted claw foot tub shower. In between these two bedrooms with a full harbor view is a small bedroom with two twin beds. The last bedroom upstairs has windows overlooking the south lawn. It has a double bed and two twin beds and typically shares the bathroom with the master bathroom or (through a back staircase) the suite downstairs. FYI winter rentals, these last two bedrooms are not heated, but space heaters can be provided upon request.
Furnished with antiques and heated with cast-iron radiators the house exudes an old-fashioned charm and is ready to welcome you and your family. Towels, cotton sheets, and light quilts are provided. 7-day rental minimum. Check-in after 3 pm, Check out by 10 am.

Wonderful historic house in a prime location. Really enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching all the activities in the harbor. It is a historic house with quirks but we loved that and we will be back!

This large house with fabulous views was perfect for our family of 12. It can be a struggle to find a home in our budget but this had everything we needed. Lots of bedrooms and space, and room for 3 cars. Just a short walk to town, and even the ferry! Laura, the property owner, was also really accommodating and easy to get ahold of. We’ll certainly be staying again next year if the property is available!

We had two families, 5 children, and we loved being within walking distance of Vineyard Haven for shopping, dining, and ice cream every night! Vineyard Haven is a cute, smaller town so not as crowded as some other towns. Having a private beach was ideal so individual family members could come and go from the beach to the house. The view from the house was unbeatable and the adults spent a lot of time on the porch with a coffee or glass of wine, watching the boats come and go! The house is older, but all the appliances were updated and functional. Having a large number of bathrooms plus the outdoor shower was critical for us!

We had a fantastic time at this house. The location is amazing, with incredible views of the harbor and easy access to town. The house is not fancy and has not been remodeled but it retains its old world charm and worked really well for us. There was plenty of space for everyone and multiple areas to hang out. We loved just sitting on the porch and watching the world go by or walking down to the beach.

We had a fantastic time and a great birthday week for my father's 80th. The best thing about the house is the setting and location right on the water and walking distance to the town. We took advantage and spent most of our time on the porch and in the yard or down by the water. I personally loved everything about the house including the quirks. The rest of my party took some time to get used to the place. It was mentioned that it had no A/C but in the future consider mentioning that its a nearly 300 year old house with minimal renovations in the last several decades. Hope that helps.

This home overlooks Vineyard Sound and Harbor. The view from 5 of the 6 bedrooms can’t be beat. The home is situated in an ideal location, on the water and also just a couple minutes walk to restaurants, shopping, coffee shops and the Ferry. We were concerned the Ferry horns would be very loud early mornings and nights, but honestly it wasn’t an issue at all. As the description states, this is a quaint historic home with hundreds of years of charm. Our group of 7 adults had plenty of space to spread out when we wanted to and come together as a group just the same. With almost every night spent outside on the porch, this is a trip we all enjoyed and one we would recommend to family and friends. Thank you!

Great week on the Vineyard!
We had a really nice week visiting the Vineyard. Getting to Tisbury is a short walk and the private beach is quiet and relaxing. We had a hot week, so no A/C was a bit of a drag, but no one hid that from us going in. There were plenty of fans and everyone agreed that, on balance, we’d trade that minor inconvenience for a million dollar location and charming house. We’re already looking at availability next year!

We could not have asked for a more perfect place to spend our week on Martha’s Vineyard. Laura’s home was the ideal place for us to relax, retreat and unplug from our busy day to day lives. The house itself is completely charming and in the most idyllic of settings. The breeze from the porch crisp and refreshing along with that breathtaking view of the harbor. The sound of the ferry was actually quite relaxing and we were sad when our week came to an end. Laura was responsive and very informative and one of the best hosts we have had with our VRBO experiences. Thank you sharing your home and we look forward to coming back but for much longer!

In planning our first trip to Martha's Vineyard, we had an ambitious wishlist for our rental. We wanted a house that could hold six adults and six children, one filled with history, that offered a stunning water view, and a walk to the beach. This house in Vineyard Haven had all of this and more.
The property is well-balanced with both modern amenities and timeless charm. The island breezes that flow through the house kept us from pining for the mid-summer air conditioning we have grown accustomed to. The character of the house, with its two staircases, antique furnishings, and worn, wooden floors helped us truly disconnect from our busy mainland lives and reconnect with each other.
After exploring the island throughout the day, we spent each night on the porch overlooking the beach and the Vineyard Haven harbor in the distance, sipping drinks and watching the boats come and go. There was a peaceful rhythm to it all, and for all the activity in the harbor, it was noticeably quiet -- just the occasional horn when the ferry backed out of its dock (and this does not last through the night).
Unless you are the type of person who requires central air, granite countertops, and the like, I would recommend this property without hesitation. It is a remarkable place that we will hold dear for many years to come.

As someone who loves history, staying in a home that was built in the 1700's is a dream. Staying on the water in that home was even better. This house had all the charm of a classic Vineyard home, but all the modern amenities you could need (GREAT wifi service, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc.). We had a family vacation that we had planned for over a year (celebrating two 70th birthdays, my mother-in-law's retirement, and my husband and my 40th birthdays). There were a total of 5 adults, and two children ages 7 and 8. We all had PLENTY of space- the two couples each had rooms with adjacent baths, as did my husband's aunt, and the kids each had their own rooms (though they decided to share the front room after one night apart, so that they could watch the boats out the window). The only room without a water view is the back room, which is remarkable- literally, we ALL had water views. Waking up at first light some mornings (draw the shades if you want to sleep in), I saw the most gorgeous sunrises. We watched fireworks over the ferry on our first night, went kayaking, played frisbee in the backyard, and read books in the shade of the large tree next to the porch. In the evenings, we had hors d'ouevres on the screened-in-porch, and served dinner either out there, or around the giant dining room table. There are more books than you could read in a week (my daughter found and read a 1935 copy of Mary Poppins Returns, and I reread Walden- it was lovely!), beautiful antique furniture, and the place was literally spotless. The kitchen was fabulous, with literally anything you could need to cook (plus two coffee makers- my father-in-law was in his element!). The kids had a ball drawing up maps of the house, since it had so many nooks and crannies. We had fans in every room, which created fantastic cross-breezes on the hotter days. We could not have asked for a better week, or a better communicator in our host (she got back with answers to any question within a few hours- THANK YOU LAURA!). We hope to make this an annual family tradition- our kids are already asking to go back! As someone who has been visiting the Vineyard for 40 years, this is my new favorite place (my other favorite was a family home my aunt and uncle owned until the mid-90's).
