State-of-the-art stainless steel keeps your food fresh and surfaces clean without sacrificing the style. The designated dining area is surrounded by views of the tree tops and the far-reaching horizon of the Bay.
Kentigern is sited on its own 2-acre sandy lot with a beach at the south end. For the adventurer, two kayaks on premise are provided for guest use. Kayak directly on the Chesapeake Bay in mid-morning to hear the calls of the ospreys migrating from tree to tree. The Kentigern provides the most space for you to stretch out, letting you and your loved ones escape to the Bay in peace. For your stay, we’ve included two bicycles that are provided year-round, and two kayaks that are available from late spring to early fall only, for your safety.

The house and location are gorgeous. Management was quick to respond to questions. Will definitely book this property again.

The property is gorgeous surrounded by nature. You wake up in the morning and sip your coffee or tea listening to the birds and waves sound. Bring your food supply and you will not need to go out. Nearest big shopping is about 30-35 min. Great for families get together. Has an elevator which helps bringing things up to the kitchen in 3rd floor but my husband needed it.Little kids will require lots of supervision with the steps. Bay water was warm, sandy and many pebbles, typical from the area. Some jellyfish and small fishes. Is a definite do over in the near future.

We had a nice stay with our family to celebrate our son's graduation from St. Mary's College of Maryland. The house was perfect for our group and we enjoyed the beach.

This is our second visit to Kentigern and it won't be our last.

This is a higher-end beach property with a wonderful wide view of the bay from window-filled comfortable rooms. As one member of our party is in a wheelchair, the small elevator was important to our enjoyment of the property. Small beach on the property and larger beach adjoining. Jellyfish were out when we were there, so didn't spend much time in the water. But that was just our bad luck, as they are not constant. Spent a lot of time chatting, cooking/baking, eating, and getting around and about, including a day trip to Smith Island from Point Lookout. Heat wave while we were there, but stayed comfortable both indoors and under a shady tree enjoying breezes off the bay. Very nice place.

To our surprise when we entered the house, the rooms were small with exception to the master bedroom on the top floor.
Main issue is the main living / family room was like a sauna and we sweated inside as their dual ac system did not keep it cool to 71. The three sides are all glass windows. the sun shines in from sunrise to sunset. No shades, blinds, etc. to keep heat out, no ceiling fans to keep air circulating. when it was hot 95 outside, it was 85-87 inside. We had to sleep and use other bedrooms. We had a handicap elderly person and the heat upstairs made it unbearable for her and us. We made the owner aware and they basically told us to deal with it as it was so hot
The master bedroom on the 3rd floor ceiling fan was broken which again was submitted and we could not use to being a safety concern
A broken ceiling fan out on the 3rd deck
Ice maker didn’t work, so we had to purchase bags of ice
Coffee maker was a cheap one and didn’t work 100%
The back screened deck had tons of flys stuck in the screens and mold / mildew on the interior walls.
Several kitchen Chairs didn’t have screws fastened or were missing
Living room picture on line was misleading. It was crowded with too much furniture
No mop or bucket to clean up spills
The elevator comes up and opens right into the master bathroom and it’s a non-private bathroom / shower.
They list they supply toilet paper and paper towels. They supplied only a few rolls
life jackets were available for kayaks and the one there was ripped. None for children, had to ask
The pond is a breeding ground for mosquitoes

Everything and more
This was everything I wanted and expected plus more. The house was amazing - only suggestion would be to powerwash the entry areas occasionally - they were fly-specked and looked really dirty. The inside was lovely. The kitchen beautifully stocked with every appliance and convenience you could ask for. There were only two dish towels and no dish rags which was solved by going to the local Dollar store and purchasing some ourselves. The only disappointment was the adjacent tidal pond which we had visited last year and really enjoyed. This year it was almost stagnant and covered in thick moss and reeds. We were unable/unwilling to try to crab from it. We did find another tidal pond down the beach to the north, however. All in all - we had a lovely time and the accomodations were wonderful. Thank you!

Beautiful Home
Beautiful house at a quiet and isolated location. Love the design. Right on the water, big windows give beautiful views of the Bay from every room. So peaceful. Pet friendly. Not for little kids.
A lot of stairs but elevator available. Carpets are stained which comes with being near water & accepting pets. one shower broken, really loud hot water heater. Didn't realize people would be walking across the property with their pets. Makes it a little uncomfortable especially with the big windows in master bath shower.

Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Very nice view. Everything was prepared nicely, the only issue was the heating system was not working well in first floor.

Ibanez Family Annual Fishing
Peggy (/and Emily) -
We (Ibanez Family) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at All Four (4) Properties (Ketinger's, Ketinger's Shed, Bruadair, and Bruadair Guest Hours).
Thanks for working with us to adjust dates and accommodate our delayed Stay due to COVID-19. We did again enjoy our stay.
As for our observation, there was wear-n-tear on All the properties, as compared to our stay in 2019, where handy-man repairs would be all that is needed:
(Kentinger's Master Bath Tiles need Repair as they are lose and detaching, Kentinger's Master Bathroom Shower Water Pressure was very Low and Hot Water was absent, Exterior Power Wash would be beneficial to remove the effects of Saltwater in the air and Moss Build-up on Exterior Walls and Outdoor Furniture, Master Bedroom Ceiling Fan needs to be Balanced, Master Balcony Fan Blade is Mission, Master Balcony Wire Retaining Handrail needs to be tightened, Floors throughout Kentinger's were sandy and dusty, 2nd Floor TV's Optical Sound Cable was Broken at the TV Connection/No Sound from the Sound Bar (TV Speakers Only), 1st Floor Hallway Bathroom would not fully switch from Shower-head to Spigot, Ground Floor Bedroom TV was missing HDMI Cable from Mini Cable Box to TV/No TV Signal/TV unusable //
Bruadair Sliding Glass Doors are difficult to Open, Close and Lock //
Bruadair Guest House was supplied with just 1/2 Roll of Toilet Paper).
OVERALL -- We ALL DID have a Wonderful Time and Enjoyed our Stay on All the Properties... THANK YOU!!!
Lastly, we (Ibanez and Brightwell) have reserved the properties Again for OCT 2022 (Columbus /Indigenous People Day) for our Annual Gathering...

An Amazing One of a Kind Destination
This place is gorgeous! I was expecting a very nice beach house, but this place has everything you could want for a family gathering. The rooms are great and all of them have balconies, except the first floor which has (3) double patio doors for an amazing amount of light. The sunrise and sunsets are beautiful and the semi-private beach is intimate and cozy. The kitchen and living room have all the amenities you could want and this place is definitely suitable for a week long stay.

The decision to build this house with the main living area at the top and a penthouse master suite mean tremendous views all the time.

Chesapeake vacation
House was great and the views were just spectacular. The outside of the house needed to be cleaned due to bugs and cobwebs but overall we will definitely be back.

Decent weekend
Not to anyone fault but the weather was awful so for half our stay we were stuck inside with two toddlers. I would not recommend the home for small children as the stairs and bannisters just aren’t kid friendly.

Great place to getaway
Our group of 4 couples had a great time. The location is secluded and there is nothing to do except enjoy the bay, kayak, have fun with family. The house is well stocked and we loved the many balconies facing the water. We struggled with the ac and heat system and found the whole house fan the day we left. Some instructions would have been helpful. There was a bedroom where most of the electric didn’t work. I tried calling the number in the listing and emailed with no response for 2 days. When they did show they had no idea what to do and brought no tools. It didn’t get fixed. We also wanted to know what to do for checkout. I tried email, phone, and the response was I don’t work there any more. There was some frustration but would highly recommend the place.

Location, location, location
It would be pretty hard to beat this location - water, water everywhere. While you are inside the house you have the feeling of being on a cruise ship. If you are a birder this is paradise. We had a couple of problems with the house but to me what matters is the response to that and it was immediate - all fixed up in no time. The house has everything you need - the kitchen is especially well equipped. The sunrises are stunning. This is a rural location- bring all the food and drink you need as there is very little close by. Unless you need liquor skip the Ridge market - it is downright scary.

A weekend is not enough!
The house lived up to the pictures online. Great relaxing trip to get away from DC. It’s private and waking up with the sunrise was magnificent! Don’t expect to sleep in! Great trip. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely house in lovely place
The setting of the house is simply lovely. The views are stunning from each room. Everyone in our party was able to have privacy and had a nice space all to themselves. The house is decorated very chic and there is plenty of everything required for a stay.

From the moment we (ladies only) arrived, the property and its location offers a feel and vibe that is worldwide. The elements crashing onto the grounds of the Kentigern from the Chesapeake bay elevates ones senses on this grand looking structure. Ima local (in the DMV area) looking for it everything nearby due to COVID-19 and the Kentigern is it. The weather changed drastically each of our few days on the property but each day was lovely in everyway. We were able to physically distant while socializing. I even got to build my own fire.....soooo we had some real fireside chats that lasted hours...I try to get to the Kentigern annually. The staff is very helpful, thanks Ann for supporting my fire building skills

Views and Beach Fun
The property and the house were second to none. The views from every room were incredible and the pictures are 100% accurate. The house is about 100 yards from an awesome 99% private beach and there is a wonderful small lake right behind the house. Both the bay and lake were great for kayaking and the point was about a 3 to 4 mile bike ride away. Camp fires at night were a blast. The house was big but the main living space was cozy and a great place for everyone to hang and relax. The market is about 20 mins away so plan do do a big shopping trip to stock up. I highly recommend this house.

Wonderful place to stay
Beautiful view, kitchen is very well outfitted, elevator to take things up to the kitchen is wonderful, decks are outstanding. We had a few problems with the icemaker on our last night. It began loudly banging in the mechanism every hour for about a minute until after midnight. I am sure it will be fixed quickly as we did notify management.

Awesome Retreat!
Great visit had by all! We stayed a week and could have easily stayed longer. Views from every room; well-stocked home with a terrific kitchen. So peaceful and relaxing; we definitely plan to return. We only found the ice-maker did not function well nor the mini fridge in the laundry room. But I’m sure these will be fixed before the next guest arrives.

Relaxing respite
We had a lovely stay. We awoke each morning to beautiful sunrises that accompanied our coffee. The kayaking was a highlight. Everything was perfect. We can think of no negatives. Even on the most bracing and rainiest of days, it was spectacular.
We recommend going to St. Mary's City as a quick half-day excursion. Weis Market is also a quick go to for necessities. However, everything you need for your mind, body and soul is here at Kentigern.

A lovely week on the bay
We stayed for a week in late August 2020. There were four of us: my wife and myself, my mother, and my niece (14 years old).
The house was pretty much perfect: extremely large, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and very well-stocked with all amenities. The kitchen is beautiful. All four bedrooms are very attractive, have their own bathrooms and deck areas, and offer incredible views of the water, both from inside the rooms and outside on the decks (the master bedroom/bathroom are particularly impressive). If I have any suggestion about the house itself, it would be a larger bed in the master bedroom, but I am 6'5" so I have strong feelings on this issue.
The beach is steps away from the house, and was essentially a private beach (we shared it with two other groups/families at most, and it was large enough to leave plenty of space between us). The kayaks (and bikes, for that matter) were in great shape, and the water was warm and calm. Unfortunately, for three of the days we were there, the jellyfish were out in full force, making swimming very difficult. And we had to coat ourselves in bug spray on most days to keep away the biting flies on the beach and ground floor outside area (flies are not an issue on the 2nd-4th floor decks). But these are common problems on the bay during the summer. Overall, this is a wonderful property, which we recommend without hesitation.

Picturesque and perfect
My family rented both Kentigern and Kentigern Shed this year. We all enjoyed our stay and love the beach and tranquillity of this beautiful place. My family cooks large meals every day and had dinners on the screened porch. The neighbor behind the Shed approached us minutes after we arrived, noticeably annoyed as my 2 year old granddaughter dipped her toes in the surf while waiting to check in on arrival day. He announced that this was "his family's private beach" and pointed and said we had our own beach and a full commentary on rental property. That made all of us uncomfortable. The following day, he installed several security cameras, pointed at the beach. We had no conversations or altercations with the property owner for the remainder of our stay.

Luxe weekend retreat
Loved getting out of the city and staying in this beautiful house. The kayaks and bicycles were great to use, and we found that the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and dishware. Feels like a private beach!

Great house, great views, great property manager!
My family enjoyed everything about our stay. The weather was a bit blustery but the view from the house kept us entertained as you can watch Mother Nature put on her show from every window! We managed to get out for a bit and while exploring the lake behind the house, we saw hundreds of crabs, kayaked and even met a cute little river otter. Our property manager was super accommodating and responsive to any question we had. She’s a treasure. We will definitely come back to this amazing place and look forward to our next stay!
