About this farm stay rental

Nestled in the Rockfish gap right under Devil's Knob our farmhouse is situated perfectly in the center of everything that Nellysford, Wintergreen, and the Rockfish Valley have to offer, including skiing, golfing, fishing, breweries/wineries, Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, biking, swimming, antiquing, and so much more while still providing a quiet secluded and downright heavenly spot to use as your base of operations for your next vacation. While there’s plenty to do in this area, including day visits to nearby historic towns like Staunton, Lexington, and Charlottesville, just spending a few quiet nights in the house is almost vacation enough with its warm 200 year old re-purposed heart pine beams, slate floors, wood stove for those cold winter nights, huge sun-room, two living rooms, one with a pull-out couch and large window seat, 3 well appointed bedrooms, small sleeping porch, and 2 full bathrooms. There is Wi-Fi through-out the house, Direct TV with premium channels, and DVD players, so no one has to be without entertainment. Outside, there is a small deck nestled under the trees next to the garden, a great fire-pit in the back yard perfect for evening gatherings under the stars, and a basketball court to keep the kids busy during the day. The 11 acre property has beautiful wooded trails and a path leading right down to the babbling Spruce Creek that runs through it, not to mention open pasture land with gorgeous vistas and views of the surrounding mountains. Get up early and hike out into the pasture to see the sun come up over the mountains or sleep late and then take a short walk to tour the Bold Rock Hard Cider house just down the street or ride your bike down the “Brew Ridge Trail” to Red Wolf or Devil’s Backbone, eat a terrific meal and taste some local craft beers! There’s so much to do (or not to do if you prefer), you’ll love spending time here!

My husband and I and our two kids recently stayed at this charming home. The location was perfect, we were surrounded by nature yet a stones throw away from brewery’s, ice cream and easy trails to wander. We found many fun spots to play in the streams nearby. The home is incredibly well stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this wonderful home.

The property was beautiful! The cabin was very cozy and there was plenty of room for everyone. Our group liked to run in the morning and they came back everyday with stories of the wildlife that they would see. The area is so pretty and just walking each day was fun! The kitchen was well stocked. Our Thanksgiving dinner was in the sunroom and held all ten of us. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch every night looking at the stars!

We had our 3 kids and 2 dogs there for a three day weekend of fall festivals, hiking, brewery hopping and just relaxing. The location and property couldn't have been better suited for our crew and what we were looking to do. Everything we wanted to do was with within minutes of the cabin. Loved it!

The property is beautiful, private, and exactly as described in the listing. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook homemade meals, plenty of bedding, and the host did a wonderful job of communicating details and having the home prepared for us. Highly recommend.

Excellent hosts that were very responsive and helpful. Home was as advertised and very beautiful. Close to hiking trails, wineries, breweries, and much more. Gorgeous wooded property with a small stream in the back for the kids to play in. Will definitely recommend and we'll be staying here again!

Overall had a good experience. The house location was great, good proximity to wineries and breweries in the area. The house could use a thorough cleaning though, items in the kitchen were greasy and floors needed cleaning. House was good, but could have been nicer. .

When we arrived at this adorable barn-like home, we were so excited to start the weekend and enjoy our stay. Immediately arriving, it was freezing in the house however normal heat should change that when turned on. This heating system was very delayed for us and didn’t fully work until the next day. This made our first night frigid. Just other things to note: the shower in the master doesn’t have a shower head and the pressure is lacking, one of the doors in the living room wouldn’t lock so it made 6 girls being alone in the woods that much more scary, on top of all of this there was mold excessively coating the inside of the dishwasher and a terrible smell. We reached out to the property owner and she was reasonable and felt bad but in the end seemed passive aggressive and said it was a “small problem.”

Wonderful week in Nelson County- plenty of indoor & outdoor entertainment for all ages in the area. House was well maintained and well equipped. The creek on the property was a bit of a disappointment as it was more of a trickle than anything else. But we found plenty of other things to keep ourselves busy! Definitely recommend for families and groups.

This was a reschedule of a VA cation we booked before Covid began in 2020. So glad we rescheduled this trip! House was a lovely setting and a great set up for our family of 5 including our three grown children. Location was good with Shenandoah park not too far away and plenty of places, breweries, distilleries and restaurants, to choose from in the area. Would book this cottage again for another family getaway.

Celebrating my daughter’s high school graduation with her sisters and a few girlfriends by hiking up to Crabtree Falls, tubing the James River, hiking through the Crozet Tunnel, and enjoyed this lovely cottage! They all enjoyed time hanging out and being cozy by playing games, watching movies, and enjoying a nighttime outdoor fire. The very clean cottage came with all the necessities for a delightful time! Limited phone access made for more fun interaction!

We loved the fire pit and the kids had a blast running around the large property! Very close to all attractions, including wine, beer and cider tasting. Amazing clean air surrounded us the entire time, and it felt so good too take deep breaths. My sister has allergies and didn't cough once! Thank you for the great communication!

Cute place. Was a little dirty. Not sure when it was used/cleaned last. Wiped the kitchen counters when I got there and the wipes were straight black. Furniture was old and uncomfortable. Thought the kitchen table was gonna break at breakfast it was so wobbly. I get the ‘antique’ feel but some stuff just wasn’t usable or comfortable. Kids couldn’t figure out the upstairs tv connections when trying to watch a movie one night. Place wasn’t as remote as we thought either. Shower water pressure was non existent so wasn’t great for a house that fits 10. Plenty of room for everyone for sure. Overall was nice but could use some updates.

This property was a really nice place to stay, tucked away in the woods in a beautiful setting, within easy reach of some great outdoor activities year round. Interesting home set up well for a grou, plenty of room and separate sitting and gathering places while still feeling connected throughout. The owners were very accommodating and communication was great. Nice place!
