My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay with our children. The location was everything. We spent hours on the very private and stunning shoreline exploring the tide pools and looking for sea glass - just a short walk through the woods from the property. While the house was on the older side, it was very well appointed. We appreciated the comfortable king size bed, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. We loved the views from the sunroom, and our kids especially enjoyed the piano, books, and games. Thank you for your hospitality!

The house was the perfect setup for our family of 4 with 2 kids under 5 and our dog! The kids loved the playroom, and we enjoyed the great screened in porch. It’s the perfect location. Can’t wait to come back!

We just got back from a lovely 7 day stay at Firefly Meadow. It was the perfect rental for our family of 5. Our kids ages 5, 3, and 1 loved all the space the puzzles, books and piano. The primary bedroom is on first floor off the screened in porch and it was a great space. You can see deer in the back. The yard was great for soccer and running around. We used the screened in porch all the time. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes and it was stunning. Great views and the kids loved the tidal pools. It’s a 5 minute drive to town and so many great hikes for the kids. It’s an older house so it updated kitchens and bathrooms are important for you this isn’t the house. We found the rental charming and perfect for our needs!

Location and views were great! The overall impression of the house, it was spacious and had a nice patio. However the house smelled musty and damp. We noticed mold in multiple places, including bathrooms, ceiling in bedroom and on the old couches. The area underneath the master bed was filthy. I am sure it was a beautiful and well kept home at some point, e. g. Nice China and glass ware , homey vibes, however a lot is old and not well functioning, especially the bathrooms. Anyone with allergies to mold and dust should not stay in this home.

We had an issue with the property upon arrival (the photos did not accurately reflect the sleeping accommodations, and the host acknowledged they had not been updated). The hosts were gracious and available, and worked with us to resolve it satisfactorily. We had a lovely stay, and enjoyed the deer that appeared each morning and evening and grazed within feet of the house (featuring a family with two small fawns). The location was great - accessible and peaceful- and we took advantage of many things the area has to offer. The bonus in the house was the piano, which a few in our family enjoyed playing. Also, there were shelves full of books as well as puzzles and games, and the washer and dryer were convenient. Would stay there again!

We loved our stay. To be honest, the house is even better than in the pictures. It’s very charming and was perfect for my family. It was very close to Acadia.
The only downside was that the previous renters had dogs with them and the home had a strong dog smell. However we did enjoy the home despite that. We would love to stay there again if we are ever back in Maine.

Great property. Quite, lots of outdoor space. Our dogs loved it Much nicer than spots we have rented in the Bar Harbor area. Fantastic sunrises viewable from bedroom. Private beach and beach right down the road (Cable Crossing) great for a secluded sunrise as well.

Location of Firefly cottage is perfect!
Lots of extra space in this warm and inviting home.
Wonderful walk through the woods to the ocean were
we found sea glass and watched lobster boats come
and go. Though out the day the deer came to visit and graze in the open field to our delight!
Would love to come back here and stay longer than 3 days.

We had a great couple of days with our dog in this very well located house in Southwest Harbor. This is a large property ! A lot of space within the house and plenty outside too ! Very private. Nice path to the beach. You got all you need to spend quality time with the family. We picked up seafood from Charlotte (almost next door) and some BBQ from the Atlantic Brewery company. Acadia National park and Bar Harbor are accessible with a short drive.
Thank you for the great stay.

We are two sisters who love to hike and planned a trip that my sisters adult children and friends joined us. The house was big enough to accommodate all of us. Its old and has some old house issues but that was part of the charm. The host is close by if we had any issues which we didnt. Great location on a busy weekend. I do suggest that if buying groceries its worth the trip into Bar Harbor. The local grocery didnt have canned bean (any variety) or olives.

Our stay at Firefly was great! There was plenty of room and everything we needed. It is an older house, but nothing that wasn’t stated or not manageable. We thoroughly enjoyed walking to the beach, visiting with the homeowners and touring Acadia. We would surely come again!

This is an older home with issues as expected. Overall, we found it quaint with a nice layout and a lot of natural lighting. The deer visits were very enjoyable! The location was great for hiking Acadia. The owner recommended the hikes right nearby, and we were very glad we stopped at those! Note: If going before the busy tourist season, be sure to check for trail and road closures as this is the time when construction happens and many restaurants haven't opened back up yet.

Great place with a cool pathway to the beach. The views were beautiful and the house was wonderful. There was enough space for my three kids to spread out and toys for them to play with. Would absolutely love to come back!

Whitney and Dan were wonderful to work with. The house has awesome features like the fireplace ,built-ins, and decor. However, the outside of the house needs some attention. Excellent view of the ocean and enjoyed watching the deer. Thanks for sharing an amazing spot on the quiet side of the island.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the "quiet side." The house was clean, well appointed, and had tons of northeast, beach house character. My wife and I loved all the built in cabinetry and the stone fireplace. The highlight for us was walking to the beach for sunrise and catching the colors in the sky at sunset. Although there aren't as many restaurants to choose from in Southwest Harbor as there are in baaaahhhh habaaaa, there are some really good ones. Highly recommend Eat a Pit 2 and Drydock. We enjoyed great food and service at both. Also lots to do in the area so this house is a great choice overall.

Location was great! Private and serene. We had issues with musty smell, resulting from standing water in basement. Downstairs bathroom had mildew and evidence of leaking issues. The host was very responsive and brought us two brand new air purifiers. The house is charming but sadly neglected. We would probably not return.

The house was very conveniently located and had nice character. We were just two people but it would easily serve a family.

Cozy home and a very relaxing environment after our adventures in Acadia National Park.
Walking to the ocean every morning to see the sunrise was an added joy!
Overall a wonderful stay.

This house has retro country charm. No bells and whistles, but plenty of character. We enjoyed the half mile walk to beach access and room to spread out in this charming, older house. Our only complaint was the day they parked a dump truck in the driveway and I had to ask the owners to move it so we could get in and out. The first two days were quiet, but Monday, all day, we had to listen to the dump truck and backhoe being operated. If you plan to stay, inquire if the heavy machinery will be in operation.

Firefly Cottage was perfect for our family reunion. Charming, older home. Private pebble beach was a pleasant 5 min walk and a bonus! Whitney and Dan were very responsive and helpful. Islandscaping next door had fresh fish we could order in advance. Happy stay!

We had the best week of the summer when we stayed at Whitney and Dan’s cottage! (We scored with the weather!) It had everything we needed for relaxation after hikes and time in the park. Dan checked in a few times and couldn’t be more available for questions/concerns. Because of how busy August is, we really appreciated time on the quiet side of the island - the rocky beach is a 5 minute walk down a path from the cottage and was magical for our daughters to hunt for sand dollars and sea glass. The cottage was a 5-10 minute drive to so many hidden gem spots that we ended up adjusting our pre-trip bucket list by day two!

Another great stay at Firefly Meadow! Loved the addition of the TV in the fireplace room, the new beds in the kids room. This has quickly become one of our favorite places to land when staying in Southwest Harbor. Can't beat the walk to the pebble beach and easy access to hiking, restaurants and the laid back vibe of the quiet side. Can't wait to come back next year!

Great location for going hiking on Acadia National Park trails. Home was clean and owner provided excellent communication for any needs. Only issue was a very warm summer and no A/C.

We loved being able to quickly walk down to the beach via a private road - it is a very special location and we spent a lot of time down there. The location is also super convenient, it’s a short drive to the local restaurants and an easy drive over to the other side of the island - very central while still being quiet and peaceful. Dan was very helpful during our stay and also gave us great tips on hiking spots and restaurants. This was a family vacation with four adults, one child, and our dogs and we all had more than enough room in the house - and my son enjoyed the toys and books in the house. It’s an older house but it’s cute and and homey, and the location is great.

We had a terrific time at this cute cottage. You can see the ocean from the living room. Deer come into the meadow at your back door. You can walk down to the ocean. It is an idyllic place. Owners were great. We enjoyed the fireplace as well.

My family and I enjoyed our stay here while we visited Acadia NP. It was far enough away from the crazy busy main park area but close enough to get there quickly and easily when we wanted to do so.

It was great to be in a quiet spot, and still close to Acadia. The house was very comfortable. Very close to Southwest Harbor for ice cream, and a short stroll to a rocky beach!

Family Reunion
This home is comfortable & quiet with a great primary bedroom suite. We loved watching the deer from the sunroom and the many seating areas conducive to conversation. However, the weather got quite warm during our stay, making us wish for two more fans and a few more screens on the upstairs windows. Otherwise, it was a perfect launching pad for exploring the island.

Quiet Please
Washing machine is located in a closet in the master bedroom and it is very loud as it grinds through its cycles. It was impossible to sleep while it was running. The clothes dryer is not vented to the outside which caused the bedroom to smell like a laundromat. We didn’t contact the property manager because we didn’t think there was enough time during our stay to get it fixed or replaced. For the benefit of future guests please repair or replace.

Great house for a family
We stayed for 6 nights and found this house to be ideal. Great layout for kids and for entertaining. We loved the fireplace for chilly evenings, and the location is especially nice now that Mt Desert Island has been discovered (some would say overrun) on the busy Bar Harbor side.
