This alpine home sits among the evergreens in Ockenden, a quiet neighborhood one mile south of the village of Shaver Lake. Take out your kayaks and canoes on Shaver Lake two miles north, spend sunny summer days hiking around Huntington Lake 17 miles north, and pass the sparkling winter months on the bowls and trails of China Peak Mountain Resort 20 miles northeast.
Musick Falls is located just below the cabin and is within walking distance. Guests can enjoy the sounds of Musick Falls while sitting on the deck. During winter months, there's a great sledding area that starts in front of the cabin and ends up behind the cabin.

Read the sports section at the breakfast bar each morning, and fire up the stainless steel gas range to prepare meals as a family. Linger around the dining room table with your loved ones, log onto the free WiFi to make plans for the day ahead, and hop in the car to spend the morning out on Shaver Lake. Back at the house, you can soak in the sunshine on the large back deck, sip cocktails as the sun illuminates the hills, and head inside for a tournament on the private shuffleboard table.

It’s beautiful! Location, space and all the amenities like the fire pit, decks, waterfall, the cabin itself!!!! My kids and I will definitely rent this one again 😀Thank you for all your attention and quick responses. We loved our stay.

The layout, location, rooms and open living space were just what we were looking for but needs some TLC.
Not as clean and kept up as photos make it appear and deck was not usable due to exposed nails and broken table.
We still made the most of it and had a great trip and enjoyed walking around the beautiful quiet neighborhood and the short drive to the lake!

We arrived to the home and everything was easy in regards to checking. You receive a code and enter the code to get inside. They even allowed us to do an early check in without us having to ask. However, the owner of the home hired a management company named Vacasa to manage this Vrbo and they were BY FAR the worst of vacation home hosts I have ever dealt with when it came to communication. Before arriving, it took almost three full days to receive a simple response and once we were at the home, they message you periodically to make you think they are there but won’t respond until WAY later in the day when you no longer even need an answer. The home was somewhat clean but you can definitely tell that they did not do a deep clean. There was webs around the home, a lot of dust, used q tips, stains on the bed, used socks, clogged bathtubs, etc. The patio outside is nice but do not believe the pictures you see. The table they have in the pictures is broken and was unusable. The chairs/grass area were kept in the garage and they had a new table that they said we could not use stored in the garage.
Highlights of the place: the kitchen is nice but some of the appliances are outdated but not really a huge issue, the living room is really nice and one of the only updated areas of the home. The backyard area is by far the best part of the home and somewhat made up for a lot of the negatives in the home. They have a water fall (Musick falls) in the backyard thats very close (1 minute)

The house was great. A little outdated from the photos on the website. Overall the amenities were good and the creek in the backyard was awesome.

Close to shaver lake town, away in a quiet neighborhood, the view

Absolutely loved the views from the patio! Super spacious and lots of board games for the kiddos

Amazing cabin that is spacious and comfortable. WiFi is reliable to watch movies and shows for multiple people. Great view and location of a mountainside. A creek is nearby and peaceful to hear the water flow. Great for big families or multiple people.
4.2
Nice place but just a bit tired. Great location just south of town near a creek and waterfall...The accommodations fit our family well but the place could really use some refreshing. Although the kitchen was decently stocked, most of the utensils, especially the knives, were fairly worn out and old. (Great coffee mugs though!)
All the beds were good but there weren't extra blankets around, or at least any we could find. Worked out okay because the house stays warm. The small prep sink's disposal doesn't work, and the lights in the master bedroom that are on the ceiling are bad. (so is the one at the front door)
The TV in the living room had some problems too. It froze up from time to time then either restarted on its own, or we'd shut it down and restart it. We loved the sofas and the big dining room table!
All-in-all a convenient, nice place that just needs some TLC and those extra touches...the powdered soap and other bathroom items provided were not a hit...no one liked them...but that jetted tub in the master...that's a keeper. Great after a day on skis!

Overall the space was large and there was plenty of room for large family trips.

We booked this place with some friends. We had an awesome time! There was plenty of room for the kids to play inside and outside! Outside was beautiful we got to explore with the kids ages 3-6. They had tons of board games for both kids and adults. Again there was so much room! We had a 1 year old and we should have brought baby gates cause he was just going up and down the stairs. But overall a great stay we plan to go again when the snow hits.

My family had a wonderful stay here. The shuffleboard was a big hit with kids. Plenty of space for our group of six.

Are family had a really nice time in this home. Very spacious. Loved the shuffleboard in the game room and had a big selection of other games as well. We also really loved that there was an area on the side of the house to play in the snow.
A couple of cons would be that we couldn’t get the wood stove to light so it got pretty cold in the living room but good thing we brought a couple of throw blankets and the dryer wasn’t working.

Very clean, nice deck with sunset view, found a place to slide in the snow next to the cabin. Nice big kitchen table for family meals and games. Beds were comfy, just keep thermostat low at night, upstairs heats up quick. Also had fun with the shuffleboard table downstairs.

We had to do a last minute change from Three Rivers to Shaver Lake and it was an amazing trip. The house has a beautiful view and even with smoke and drought the Musick Falls still had some water to listen too. Great cabin and well furnished for our stay.

We loved it there! The rooms are spread out enough to ensure quiet and privacy but close enough to still hear your children arguing 😉 so roomy and had all the essentials one would need. It was clean, cozy, and had magnificent views. Will definitely be back to this gem.

The location of this property is exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, unbelievable view of the valley, very close to the lake and town. Because of these things, any issues we had were not really a big deal. The house has an open layout. Lots of beds to sleep in and lots of places to hangout. Very large kitchen with plenty (actually too much) of cooking utensils and pots and pans. The view is amazing and has wonderful sunsets. It’s right on the burn scar, which I personally like, but you will get ash on your shoes if you decide to explore at all. If you don’t mind that and the smoke smell (again, I really like it), than it’s not a problem.
Here are the issues:
-a little bit dirty inside
-some clutter in the kitchen cabinets
- pool table needs some work (cues broken, table is old)
-broken furniture
Ultimately, it’s a big, beautiful house in the mountains. It’s fine if it’s a bit dirty. Not really noticeably either. Just in the details. But it’s well worth the price. We will look for this house again when we come back to Shaver.

My family and I stayed at this cabin this past weekend. The first level was great spacious and clean although the living room furniture seemed a little dated. We did have some trouble trying to just get the cable going. Upstairs rooms also seemed a little dated and dusty, downstairs pool table was not sturdy but I did see prior reviews about that. Overall it was a nice house with a great view, maybe it just needs to be updated a tiny bit more as far as linens and sofa beds.

Beautiful Home in Need of TLC
Pros: Lovely neighborhood, easy hike/walk to Musick Falls behind property, spacious home, great floor plan for families or couples, sleds for use in the garage, fun sled run beside the house, linens and towels provided, board games, legos, Lincoln logs for the kiddos, kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, coffee pot, wine glasses, etc...
Cons: House is in need of TLC, gutter or roof piece hanging from roof in two places, floors were not swept well, area rugs were dirty, large black ants in kitchen, one upstairs bedroom and master bathroom, several spiders throughout the house, thick dust behind headboards in all bedrooms, pool table, but NO pool balls or pool cues, management said they'd bring some, but never did. This home has so much potential, but unfortunately it's been neglected. The entire group was disappointed.

HOT IN JULY
The house is nice. There are many places to sleep, but the house is really hot in July. NO AIR CONDITIONING. (Apparently there's one in the house, but you aren't allowed to use it.) So it's really hot. Early mornings and late nights are GREAT, It's just the main part of the day and into the evening that is challenging. The upper rooms could really use some ceiling fans to help circulate any air. It could use some tvs upstairs in bedrooms. There IS a very loud whole house fan, that helps draw some air in....for late at night... But one of our Adult family has kids and had to shut the door for them to sleep. That eliminated any of the outside air coming through - so even in the night they were hot. If you feel comfortable enough to allow the doors to stay open downstairs, there is a late night cool, but if you have to shut the doors - once again - HOT.
HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS: clean the oven. It's nasty inside. And the microwave came on, but doesn't really work. Tried to heat up some tea and after 6 minutes - no heat. DK why. In the kitchen, there were NO open cabinets to put your stuff in. They supplied so many things, but there was not a place for your food, or utensils, or spices, or towels etc... There should be at least 2 cabinets where you can temporarily put your things. (The skillets need changing- they are scratched up.)
HERE ARE SOME POSITIVES:
It is a pretty house. Easy to get into. Clean. Room for 10, except for dining together. (The table seats 6) Comfortable beds! 3 1/2 baths. Many games in the bookshelf. The view is nice. The waterfall below is a great little hike (beware of loose dirt).
We DID SEE a mt. lion/bobcat (?) crossing our backyard area.
That was a treat! (Glad I didn't see it BEFORE we went hiking)
If you're gone all day into the evening - you will avoid the heat - and you'll enjoy this place. There's plenty of nice white towels in each bathroom area. There is a pool table (but it seems like it's going to fall down - the base is not stable), a large tv and a dartboard (with no darts - which I didn't understand) downstairs, with patio doors overlooking the beautiful back area.
If only it had an air conditioner - we probably would stay again

Not what was expected
House is in a great location and a quiet neighborhood. However, we had issues with mice (even saw it run through the kitchen). Mouse poop in every drawer, cabinet and countertop in the kitchen so we washed everything we used before using it. We tried calling the number on the refrigerator and the app numerous times and never got through (on hold for over 30 minutes). We should have packed extra things too like trash bags and bath towels. House needs a deep clean and the carpets cleaned.

Beautiful quite home
I love that the house felt so homey. The house was fully stocked with blankets extra pillows enough towels, One of my favorite things was going out on the balcony to my room and looking up at all those beautiful stars and laying in bed with the screen door opened and listening to waterfall from the back yard! We absolutely loved it there we didn't wanna leave, we will definitely be coming back I recommend this beautiful home to anyone 😉

We Loved Our Trip!!
This cabin has it all. Close location to downtown, yet very private with an amazing Mountain View We could drive to downtown in less than five minutes . It has a wonderful open living area with cozy private bedrooms. Very clean and well appointed! Excellent!

Good Cabin
Well stocked and great location! We had a lot of fun playing in the snow. Excellent slopes for sledding. My only concern was the floors/carpets were not vacuumed. There were a lot of pet hair on the furniture, floors, and carpets. The hair transferred to our clothes and even our food! The house didn’t have a vacuum so we couldn’t vacuum them ourselves.
