About this house rental

The Gathering House is a beautiful newly updated 5 bedroom/ 2 Bath house with all the finishes you would expect in a custom home. Located with in a 1/2 mile of downtown beautiful Grand Marais the Gathering House is with in walking distance of restaurants and several public beaches.

Another feature that makes The Gathering House unique is that there is a small named waterfall (called Chipmunk Falls) that is located on the side of the property right next to the house. There is also partial views from the 2nd and 3rd floors of beautiful West Bay and Lake Superior. The Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Master Bedroom, another Bedroom and a full Bathroom are located on the main floor of the house.

The Kitchen is all new, with new kitchen cabinets, quarts counter tops and new appliances. The Dining Room has a large harvest table and the Living Room has a 55" flat screen TV. The master bedroom has a king size bed. The second floor of the house has 2 bedrooms with Queen Beds, a bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds, a large bathroom with a dual sinks and marble counter tops, and the laundry room.

The 3rd floor has a living room with a sectional couch that makes into a sleeper sofa and has great views.

We loved the proximity to Grand Marais and Sable Falls. The waterfall on the property was a big bonus. I really appreciated that the kitchen was well equipped for cooking, I’ve found many rental kitchens lacking basic tools and pots/pans, but I was able to make meals easily in this one.

Beautiful home in a great location!! Loved the yard and the fact that there was a waterfall right through the woods just off the property. The home was spacious, clean and a great stay for our group of ladies! Definitely would book there again!

This is the second time we have rented here, and once again completely pleased with everything. Modern, large enough for our large group, well outfitted, well maintained. Definitely renting again! Only complaint is not enough snow - but that was up to Mother Nature!

So many of the properties in the upper peninsula leave so much to be desired, this home had everything. Such a relief to find a home with modern (minimal) decor, clean and new fixtures/appliances, beautiful layout and access to the outdoors. My family has been camping in the upper peninsula for decades and this time we decided to treat ourselves to an indoor stay. We had a fantastic time and so enjoyed the home.

This was our 2nd stay at this house and again, we had a great time. The house is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Still would like to have some kind of dresser in the 2 main floor bedrooms. There's definitely plenty of room in the master bedroom for one. More seating would be nice in the living room since it is such a big house. It would be nice if it sat more than 4-5 people. Not deal breakers by any means, we were fine for the week but it would have been nice. Everyone had a blast playing Yooperopoly late into the night!

Worked perfectly for large family. Very clean and well kept. Perfect distance from down town to feel by our selves yet nice walk to town when wanted. Open living area was great for big group. Enjoyed the fire pit. Would definitely rent again.

The house was clean and very spacious. We enjoyed having a relaxing place to come back to after visiting Crisp Point and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Our family agreed that when we come back to Grand Marais, this home would be at the top of our list to stay at again!

We had plenty of room for all of us, and had all the amenities we needed. This home is beautiful! It is in a peaceful area with the falls right next to it. We could sit on the back porch and listen to the falls. We hope to stay here again!

Our family had a great week-end reminiscing and had all the space we needed for 4 adults and 2 teens. The WiFi and 6 TVs all worked easily, kitchenware was plentiful, the living area and deck were great gathering spots. Thank you.

The house was a great fit for our group of 9. Plenty of room for our family to spread out. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the clawfoot soaking tub was a hit with our group. A few things to note: the bunk room doesn't have railings on the top bunks and there are no ladders to access the top bunks. The bedroom doors on the 2nd floor are quite squeaky and could use some WD-40. The living room comfortably seats 5-6 people. We wished there was seating for more. The house was beautifully decorated, clean, and well-maintained. We would definitely return and recommend it to others.

The home is beautiful and spacious and was a great place for family to stay for a family wedding on the beach. We had a great time. Couple small things we noticed that you are likely unaware of. The speaker in the kitchen would not charge and therefore would not turn on. Also, we were not able to use the TV's there were some remote issues (not working) and there is no cable service at all. We attempted to add our own streaming services but we were not successful. Might have been us but not sure. Other than that, the home comes highly recommended!! Thank you!!

We were very pleased overall. The kitchen had almost everything we needed. The refrigerator door was a little tricky due to sitting so close to the cabinet. The lamp in the living room did not work. It would have been nice for the main floor bedrooms to have some type of small dresser since they didn't have closets. Other than that, our large family enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time during our stay. Location is close to beach and downtown area. During our week long stay explored several waterfalls, pictured rocks, tahq falls, and more. The house was overall great. Only cons were lack of AC and no overhead fans in upstairs bedrooms and it got WARM up there (ex- still almost 80* inside at 8pm) and I wish there was more seating in living room. The bunk room was great for our kids but there were no ladders and you couldn’t access the built in side of the beds so it was very hard for them (7, 6, and 5 y/o) to get to top bunks. Also- downstairs bedrooms don’t have closets or dresser. The kitchen was great, we used grill and firepit (provide your own firewood) and they were both good. Overall- we had a great time and would suggest the location to anyone.

Grand Marais is a great home base for activities along Lake Superior. About 1 Hr from Munising to the west and Tahquemenon Falls to the west. Lots of hiking close by. The town has a couple of restaurants, a general store, couple of shops and ice cream as well as a great views of the Lake. The house is spacious and has all the necessities for cooking and relaxing. Beds are comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers. Loved our stay!

We (my family and couple of my friends and their families) stayed at The Gathering House during our recent trip to Pictured rocks. It was a great experience and we made a lot of good memories. The Gathering House had a welcoming feel and is a great mix of modern amenities with Farmhouse/rustic decor. There was ample room for the 3 families along with the kids. The room with the bunk beds was an instant hit and kids just had a blast. Everyone loved the layout of the house that allowed us to be together but still be spread out over the 3 floors if needed. The backyard is nice with patio and a fire pit and we spent a lot of time there as well as in the common areas. The location is great - accessible by main road but private enough. Proximity to the park is a plus. Will definitely return if ever in the area again! Thank you!

Great Snowmobiling Trip

We had several couples stay here to ride. Close to trail. Beautiful home. Beds were comfortable and the decorating was done nicely. Very clean and the house was nice and open for gathering together at the end of the day. No complaints! Driveway accommodated three large trailers without a problem. We will definitely stay again. Thank you for a great trip!

Rented house for a snowmobile trip. Weather didn’t work out but the trail access was easy to get to and the house was very nice. Owners were very nice people and communication was great. Would definitely come back again next year if Mother Nature cooperates.
