This charming cottage in Otter Rock has a lot to offer! With close beach access, a dog-friendly attitude, and all the comforts of home, you will never want to leave this cozy and welcoming house.
Nestled in a neighborhood about three blocks east of beach access at Devils Punch Bowl State Park, this home is in Otter Rock, 10 minutes north of Newport. North along the highway you will find wonderful Depoe Bay, the best place for whale-watching, as well as bustling Lincoln City, which is only a scenic 25-minute drive up the road. Otter Rock itself has few businesses (a winery and a Mo's restaurant that is open in the summer), so stock up on groceries on your way into town and spend a quiet, relaxing vacation here!
Inside this two-bedroom, one-bathroom home is a warm and welcoming interior where you will see original artwork gracing the walls. Knotted wood walls, colorful furnishings, and an inviting style will help you feel right at home. A sitting area is a great place to relax and read a book, or you could walk into the living room and sit on the leather sofa while watching the flatscreen TV. While you're here you will enjoy cable, WiFi access, board games, books, and even a laundry area that will come in handy if your clothes need any freshening up.
A full kitchen is a bright and sunny space, offering all the basic appliances and cooking tools you may need. There's a four-seat dining room table where everyone can sit and enjoy a nice, home-cooked meal. Upstairs are both bedrooms, one of which has a full-size bed and the other which features two twin-size beds. Up to four people will be very comfortable here, and you're even welcome to bring as many as two dogs with you, though please note that a nightly fee will apply.
This cozy home is a perfect size for a small family, two couples traveling together, or a few friends who want a laid-back beach getaway. With the spectacular Devils Punch Bowl just down the road, miles of coastline to explore, and plenty of coastal towns within a short drive, you will never run out of things to do here!
Come visit this beachy cottage and get the most out of your vacation!

Very cute place to stay and felt very private. Great location near the devils punch bowl and the beach. Also a wonderful coffee/sweets store right down the street with the sweetest owner. Had a great trip!!

We loved this modest but cozy cabin a short walk from Otter Rock beach. Some nice art and finishing touches supported our many hours preparing meals, working puzzles, and heady out for beach fun. Loved it!

Quiet, clean, well equipped, just plane a really happy experience.

Stayed here with my daughter and two grandsons. The walk to the beach was easy. We spent lots of our stay playing on the beach. It was an easy drive to Depoe Bay for whale watching and yummy food, and an easy drive to Newport for the Aquarium and Nye Beach. We love Otter Rock!

The location was great. Very clean with all the comforts of home and set away from the hustle and bustle. Close to beach accesses. The view at Devils Punch Bowl was fantastic. We will come back again.

We loved our stay and the cozy feel of the cabin. It was great, always good if a dishwasher could be added and some of the heating controls were a little unintuitive. But a great place well worth it!

Very cute home. Close to the ocean but not too close. Artwork and quilts are beautiful. Plenty of yard for our German Shepherd. Very quiet neighborhood with beautiful flowers and greenery.

Such an adorable, cozy cabin! Everything was so clean, warm, and inviting. We loved the eclectic art and especially the close proximity to Devil’s Cauldron State Park

We stayed the last weekend of Oregon spring break. The house is super cute and easy to find. Located perfectly between attractions and amenities, it made for an ideal home base for our adventures. Walking distance to the little coffee shop that offers icecream was a pleasant surprise for the whole family. We really enjoyed the stay and would consider staying again!

Perfect place for a small family when visiting the area. It has everything you need to come home to after a day out and about! All your kitchen equipment is provided, as is bath and bedding.
Customer service for this agency is the best! They are very friendly and easy to reach. Just a text message away….
The one drawback is the landing step on the staircase. It is dangerous and we both almost fell each time we had to go downstairs. This needs a different color on it or the staircase reconstructed to avoid falls.

Very charming cottage. The bed in the main bedroom was not comfortable but we loved everything else. The kitchen is very well appointed for cooking. The den is extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and the shower pressure is great. My husband was disappointed that there was no smoking allowed anywhere on the property because he enjoys a cigar in the evening and there is a backyard. Other than that we loved it. We will stay here again.

Cute hideaway. Very cozy and quiet, easily accessible. Other than the light over dining table very clean. Beach access required killer stairs.

Loved all of the fun artwork, beautiful quilts and quilted placemats and window treatments! Very personal touch that gives the cottage a homy feeling. The house is very cozy and well stocked. Perfect for our family of four and our labradoodle. Otter Crest Beach and the Devil's Punchbowl are within walking distance. Newport just a few miles away. We loved it here and would stay again. Thank you!

just a few things which we thought were important. Would have rated a 10 BUT: (a) light at top of steps to bedrooms was not working. Could be dangerous at nite if you're not careful (b) flashlight on top of frig for emergencies did not work. It should be checked to ensure it does should there be an emergency. (c) toilet paper was sooo substandard. We think newspaper would have been better than that which was supplied. Bought our own Charmin to use. The quality of toilet paper lowered the standards of the place. (d) Finally, Roku is not a necessity. Not being able to watch local tv for news and weather was really ridiculous. With everyone able to stream from their phones why not let people choose what they want to watch and simply offer the basics of local tv to visiting folks. OH - ALSO - property manager's number given on the paper attached to the frig got us nowhere. She (her name was Rose) never answered the phone and voicemail on her phone was not set up. That's not good.

The cabin was nice. Kitchen and dining, bathrooms were nicely done. The couch/ sofas/ rugs however felt really dusty and had pet hair in them. We didn’t feel clean sitting on it. With a such hefty cleaning fee I’d have expected much cleaner space.
The bedrooms are upstairs both in attic space. Tiny rooms. Main bed is a full size, I guess any bigger won’t fit in that room. We didn’t pay much attention to where we were going to stay because we imagined spending most of time on the beach but weather had other plans. So I guess we were disappointed staying in this not so clean, somewhat uncomfortable home more than we planned for.
Bathtub faucet switching to shower mode was hard to figure out, had to stay on hold with Vacasa for 5-10 mins but they did get it sorted pretty quickly once we did get in touch. So good service there.
Overall for the price - I wouldn’t return here. I’d like a more comfortable bed, and cleaner cozy couches downstairs so one could enjoy time indoors if needed.

We had a blast during our stay at Laura Mar and visited several beaches during our trip. The location is amazing, especially for those who are looking for someplace secluded but not too secluded. Beaches, whale watching, and rock hunting are within walking distance. Already looking forward to planning our next trip.

This cottage exceeded our expectations based on the photos and reviews! It’s really charming, and quite spacious. The beds were incredibly comfortable, so they must’ve been replaced since some negative reviews a while back. We found it to be quite clean, especially since it is a dog friendly home. The kitchen is well stocked. I could imagine the stairway and upstairs bedrooms being annoying for tall people, but really we had no complaints and recommend it highly!

Rustic retreat
Our stay at Laura Mar's Retreat was uncomplicated, enjoyable, and down to earth comfort, It is rustic, and allowed us to step back from our busy daily lives. The cabin has an earthy feel with lots of cool artwork. No TV but lots of puzzles and a few games. Located in a beautiful spot and we had wonderful weather so we could take advantage of the beach and outdoor adventures. I would rent again on our next trip assuming the nightly cost stays reasonable.

Restful
We are hikers and this is a great place to leave your car and wander 1/4 mile to a beautiful ocean overlook or journey down steps to a Sandy beach. I rated it good because the steps made it actually dangerous. I read a 2019 review that said the same, yet nothing has changed. My husband being a contractor could tell you how your stairs and rails don't fit codes. He found immediately a stair stile that was loose and the bent nails used to sort of repair it. Of course late at 🌃 ght on a journey down the steep steps I touched that stile and fell. Lucky I am not hurt. Also mentioned was the landing on the way down with the lighting you can't see. The stick on lights along the steps didn't work or stick so we kept the light on...makes sleeping tough. Finally toilet runs without a patient person to unstick the handle. We did love our stay but those steps will keep us away.

Amazing art!
The house was comfortable and clean, and the art was great! It was also a quick walk to the beach from the house.

Relaxing retreat
A warm and cozy retreat with amazing artwork! Although located on a “main” road, traffic noise was minimal. And it was an easy walk to the beach.

Quaint cottage-like home and loved its' location just down the street from the Devil's Punchbowl scenic view area. I visited that area daily during my stay. I also liked how well stocked the kitchen and bathroom was. Bath towels were very soft too. Could provide a box of kleenex tissue for guests though. Ceilings in the bedrooms were a bit low so getting out of bed I hit my head a few times. That one last step before you get to the bottom should be marked somehow so one doesn't overlook taking that last step and falling. Otherwise I enjoyed the rental and would rent it again.

Surf Cottage is great access to Otter Rock
The cottage was a 3 minute walk to the stairs getting down to the beach for surfing etc. If you want location, then there is nothing else to be said.
BUT...
If you are not a dog lover, the abundance of dog hairs in the throw rugs and in the living room rug might be a turn-off. I am not a dog owner and did not like all the dog hairs. They stuck to my feet and slippers and occassionally, I found them on the dining room table, on my clothes...
I went to lower a leaf on the dining room table to make it smaller and there were crumbs and food crust in the crevice of the table leaf when I opened it, so I kept it closed. Was really gross.
Also, without a dishwasher, cannot blame prior guests, but the dishes, cutlery and pots were not very clean. I washed what we used before using them. One pot especially was caked with old food. I get it, when you are on vacation, do you really want to scrub the dishes?
The ceiling heights are very low going up the stairs and in the bedrooms. Could/should mention this in listing. My husband is 6'3" and he managed: he bent waaay over. I am 5'5" and it was annoying. I bumped my head often! I think clearance on the stairs going up and down was at about 5'2"
We did enjoy our stay as it was so close to the surf break which was the main reason we came to the area.
We would probably rent this place again though as I mentioned, it was a great location.
I suggest a deep clean every few months and also checking on the dishes every time and shaking out throw rugs and vaccum well every time. If dog hairs and cleanliness do not bother you and you came for the beach proximity then you will be fine here.

Great little place!
We had a great time staying here with our 2 young kiddos. Perfect space for the 4 of us. I wish the bathroom door opened into the bathroom instead of into the hallway, but honestly that's my only suggestion, lol! They should post new pics because the landscaping is much more mature now, and the backyard has lovely shade and flowers.
