About this house rental
This is a NEW MEXICO SAFE CERTIFIED property and truly one of the most lovely and walkable neighborhoods in Santa Fe. Located in the Historic Eastside, part of Casita Establo was originally the horse stable for the compound. Today the house is a centrally located base for exploring the rich history, food, arts and cultural offerings of Santa Fe. Our 2-story, 2-bedroom, 1,500 sq. ft. house is well designed for one couple, or for two individuals or two couples to share, as the bedrooms are on separate floors and each has an adjacent full bathroom.
The Casita is tastefully decorated with local artwork and artifacts and includes many amenities in the kitchen and living areas to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The first level of the classic adobe Casita has retained many traditional Santa Fe craftsman features like vigas and beam ceilings, Saltillo tile and sand-set brick floors, yet supplies all the modern conveniences you would expect to use during your stay.
The bedroom on the main floor, adjacent to the kitchen is part of the original adobe, probably from the late 1800s, and was once the property's horse stable. Our house name, Casita Establo, honors that. This bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed, full bathroom and a kiva fireplace which, unfortunately, is currently not operable. The second floor was added to the original adobe structure to make a large and open master suite which includes a king size bed and a beautifully tiled combination bath and shower. The north light in this room is absolutely exquisite year around. A full wall of multi-pane windows can be opened to captured the delightfully fresh Santa Fe air or hear song birds throughout the day. There is ample room to partake in your morning yoga or meditation practice in this tranquil, light-filled upstairs retreat.
Please note before booking there is one small step into the downstairs bedroom and the circular stairs leading to the second floor bedroom suite are rather steep.
There are two outdoor sitting areas furnished with table and chairs for your enjoyment. The cozy and private walled entry courtyard also has a gas grill BBQ for your use. A delightful rooftop deck is accessible from the upstairs master suite. Cloud watching and star gazing encouraged!
If you like to cook, you will love our well-stocked kitchen and the eclectic collection of cookbooks we encourage you to thumb through ... and use! We also have a very special book of recipes our guests have left over the years. You'll also find many useful cooking ingredients, a trove of spices, and a wide assortment of cooking pans and utensils awaiting your culinary creativity. Our kitchen, and gas BBQ, is ready for your return after shopping at the amazing Santa Fe Farmers Market just a mile away. There are also a variety of woven napkins and place mats plus many serving plates, cups and wine glasses for use throughout your stay.
Want to just curl up and read? We have the perfect spot for that! There are comfortable chairs and a leather couch in the living room situated close to the traditional kiva fireplace which unfortunately not operable. A nearby shelf is full of books that either we or our guests have left for an impromptu book exchange. Browse the shelf and if you take a book ... please leave a book. Relax and enjoy!
You will be close to so many of our favorite places to visit! Here are just a few not far from our neighborhood:
Canyon Road - 3 blocks to the galleries and restaurants.
Garcia Street Books - a beloved favorite. There is an adjacent coffee shop, Downtown Subscription, with lots of seating, local vibe and a great outdoor patio space for reading and sipping.
Museum Hill - multiple New Mexico museums all in one place and the view is breathtaking! Don't miss walking the paved labyrinth. The Museum Café is a wonderful lunch stop.
The Historic Downtown Plaza - need we say more? About a 25 minute walk from the house. Truly the heart center of Santa Fe and the gateway to shops, restaurants, hotels and museums.
Kakawa Chocolate - We LOVE this place! Amazing elixirs and chocolate delights.
The Santa Fe Farmers Market - Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Indescribable!
The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum - a must see.
Meow Wolf - a Santa Fe original that bursts with visual creativity. Make a reservation! It's a popular place - and for good reason!
The Santa Fe Society of Artists - across from Starbucks on San Francisco Street - close to the downtown Plaza. Weekends - Summer through mid-October.
This is a house our family loves and stays in regularly. We invite you to make Casita Establo your home away from home whenever you visit Santa Fe. Nuestra casa es su casa! Bienvenida!

The home of was perfect for the 2 of us. We had everything we needed.
As soon as we figured out that we should turn left out of our driveway, we were less than 10 minutes from everywhere we wanted to go. We could walk 6 minutes to the art/restaurant area down the street, too.
Wonderful stay!!

This place is absolutely perfect for people who want to enjoy the best of Santa Fe. It is a very short walk to the upper end of Canyon Road - the end away from the Plaza- with all its restaurants, coffee shops, and shops. It is an enjoyable walk to the galleries and on to the Plaza. The house itself was a pleasure. The upstairs master suite if bright and spacious. The kitchen is well-stocked. Museum Hill is close by. The Dale Ball trails are a short drive away. If you are looking for a great location, this place cannot be beat.

A lovely property nestled in the Canyon Road area of Santa Fe. It is a darling adobe that was true New Mexico.
The home was very clean and well supplied.
There is a whole separate living space upstairs perfect for another couple. It even has a nice rooftop balcony.
The art scattered about the home increases the Santa Fe appeal!
Though darling, this is not the best choice for older people with mobility issues. Little steps all around the cute adobe.
A positive is also a negative on the location. It is so tucked away in the authentic community it makes for tricky navigation and parking. The info says a second vehicle should be a compact car. I would say it needs to be a motorcycle! There is really only room for one vehicle.
The hosts were very easy to deal with and check in was a breeze.
I would definitely recommend this darling casita to a young adventurous couple, or two, with one vehicle!

This was our third time to stay in this delightful home. It comes with everything you need to include plenty of linens, washer, and dryer, a well stocked kitchen, and charm! We will be back!

Quiet neighborhood, house on tight dirt road, community feels safe. Easy access to other areas. The house has two bedrooms, large room upstairs. We stayed in the comfortable smaller downstairs room. The room let’s in early morning light, recommend eye masks

This property is as beautiful as the pictures show-- quintessential Santa Fe aesthetic--and is cozy and well appointed. The location is great: feels magical and secluded, while also close enough to walk to our favorite coffee shop and to all that Canyon Road has to offer. Susie was extremely friendly, responsive, and helpful as well. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

Beautifully decorated in classic Santa Fe style, perfect location.

The property was immaculate! The check-in instructions were a little outdated so we had to call for clarification. Otherwise, everything was fine. Note to future residents: the AC makes the upstairs bedroom really cold while the rest of the house is normal. So the person who likes it cold should stay upstairs.

This is our second time staying at this fabulous home. There were two couples and we enjoyed the privacy of our bed/bathrooms and the common spaces of the living room, patio, upstairs deck and kitchen. The kitchen has everything you could need and we used it to prepare meals. The walk to Canyon Road is about 10 minutes and the Santa Fe Plaza is about 25 minutes. The area is quiet and feels safe to travel on foot. We hope to return again soon and appreciate the owner's excellent communication and response time.

Cute little place in a convenient location near Canyon Rd & the Plaza. The patio off Primary 2nd floor Bedroom was perfect for Happy Hours and sunset viewing. Very clean house with very comfy beds made for an enjoyable stay. A big thank you to host Susie who was easy to contact and answered all my questions.

Great place. Everything you need. Only minor issues - please check the floor of the rooftop sitting area. Floor gave some in the corner so we did not go there to sit but once. Upstairs bathroom curtains need dusting. Comfortable beds, every appointment you could possibly need. Very quiet and comfortable. Loved it.

The Casita Establo is a lovely and historic adobe that once housed horses - hence the name. Its location is convenient to Canyon Road and the Plaza; it's within walking distance to a coffee shop and bookstore. The kitchen is fully stocked, ready for cooking - if you want to - because Santa Fe is home to the best chile rellenos ever! We loved the ambiance and the friendly feeling of the home. The hosts are more than responsive if necessary. I highly recommend the Casita Establo.

We always enjoy our stay at Casita Establo. We love the historic Eastside area of Santa Fe and this location is perfect! You can walk Canyon Road or grab a coffee at Downtown Subscription, while perusing the book selections at Garcia Street Books.
Our host, Susie, is always available to answer any questions a traveler might have.

My family and I went on a two week road trip with Santa Fe being one of our last stops. The house was beautiful and our host very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again! Master suite is huge—if you have any physical difficulties navigating stairs, the stairwell leading to the suite might be an issue, but you could always commandeer the downstairs bedroom which is also great and located near the kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. We made good use of the washer and dryer, and the host was nice enough to stock both detergent and dryer sheets for guests. Overall terrific place to stay!

This charming two story adobe is nestled in an established quiet neighborhood just a 10 minute walk along a gravel drive to Canyon Road. The walk to the Plaza is 25 minutes. As others have mentioned, there are parts of this walk where there are no sidewalks and roads are narrow.
The house itself is well appointed with comfortable beds (queens in both) and a full bath on each level. All the linens are fresh and there are plenty.
The kitchen is exceptional with all of the cooking utensils, pots/pans, and dishware one could need. We utilized the kitchen bar as well as the dining table for meals.
The living spaces are comfortable for up to four people to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We loved the upper deck, the front patio as well as the cozy living room.
Our visit was the end of May and we kept the house cool with just ceiling fans and open windows.
The parking is tight. We parked near the blue gate in a Toyota 4Runner. Anything bigger would have been a real challenge to maneuver.
If you are looking for a neighborhood feel with all of the comforts of home and you like to walk to your destinations (we walked 8-9 miles each day), this is an ideal location.

A comfortable, user-friendly charmer, a rare two-story, tucked among other historic adobes. Interior immerses you in Southwest color and spirit. Sixteen winding steps to 2nd floor may not suit some elders. Great location -- via some dirt lanes. Bring sleep mask to block out street lamp. Kind, helpful host.

This place is a cozy, beautifully decorated home. It is a 5 minute walk to Canyon Rd and 20 min walk to the Plaza. They have everything you need to cook for yourself or find great restaurants in walking distance. Thanks Susie, for being so responsive, helpful and kind!

This is a lovingly put together casita which is a great introduction to Santa Fe. Walk easily to the Canyon Road artist's galleries and restaurants. Take heed to the owner's parking instructions. We had one car and it was fine. Two cars would have been tricky. Also one bedroom is on the first floor, the other is a spacious lovely upstairs bedroom reached by a smaller winding staircase. It's carpeted and has a good hand-rail but could be difficult if you are physically impaired. But hey, this is the charm of an older home!

3 nights in such a charming adobe offered a glimpse into old Sante fe. We thoroughly enjoyed the gravel roads forming a maze of quiet neighborhoods. A we’ll equipped property obviously cared for by the owners.

Very comfortable. Interesting art. Kitchen very well equipped but unfortunately we never cooked. Hard to go for an evening walk due to narrow roads and no sidewalks

Tucked away in a cozy neighborhood, walking distance to Canyon Road. What could be better? My friends and I simply LOVED this place. So much personality, comfortable beds, comfortable conversation area/living room. Plenty of kitchen supplies, and authentic art! A lot of thought went into the setting and provisions, and we all enjoyed our stay here so very much! Thank you, Susie & Judy. It was a great trip!

We enjoyed the comfort of the Casta Establo and its walking distance to Santa Fe’s Plaza central! The well stocked kitchen was a very pleasant surprise.

My BFF and I found this place perfect for two women in their fifties to stay and enjoy the art, history, and culture of Santa Fe as it is in walking distance from all. Recommend car rental. Uber in Santa Fe is scarce and taxi non-existent

Owner was very easy to communicate with, quickly responded to a couple questions I had. The place is absolutely charming - very Santa Fe! Gorgeous master suite on the second floor. Lots of condiments in the fully-equipped kitchen. Dishwasher and washer/dryer available and plenty of towels and comfortable beds, living room chairs and kitchen eat-in area. Recommend this property for anyone wanting a true Santa Fe experience.

Casita Establo is tucked away within walking distance of Canyon Road, Downtown Subscriptions, and Garcia Books.
The casita was immaculate and the kitchen fully equipped for any gourmet dinner you wished to prepare while on vacation!
The upstairs master suite, even with the stairs, was a delightful retreat any time of the day. Opening the windows or going out on the balcony allowed for the cool mountain air to circulate through the master suite.
The front entrance/courtyard is fully enclosed and offers privacy so you can enjoy your solitude any hour.
Parking for one vehicle is not a problem, but the second parking spot would require a compact vehicle.
Our host, Susie, was quick to respond to any questions we had and a delight to work with during our two week stay.
Thank you Susie and Judy.

What a lovely place!
A stay at Casita Establo is a rare opportunity to truly experience, and enjoy, Santa Fe. It is in a wonderful, old neighborhood that most visitors to the city would never see. The casita itself is so charming and comfortable that you don't want to leave, but you are close to all the museums, restaurants, and other attractions the city has to offer.
We wanted to give our visiting grand niece a real sense of Santa Fe, it's history, it's wonderful New Mexico style; staying at Casita Establo immersed us in the culture, the architecture, and the intimate feeling of the old town.
It is a wonderful place to stay.

Great place
Loved everything. But a bit too far to walk to plaza if that is an issue for a tenant. Stairs on narrow to get to the lovely upstairs suite.

Pretty Damn Great
The casita was traditional, gorgeous, quirky and set in a great location. We enjoyed the courtyard, rooftop deck, the spacious upper bedroom and sitting area. The downstairs bed is stunning ,though we didn’t try it out. It had everything you could want. We had fun just exploring the house decor too! Near many interesting shops and great restaurants. I would love to spend more time here.

Great location for exploring Santa Fe. The house was beautiful and the kitchen was well stocked, so it was easy to cook a few dinners at home and not have to go out every night. Parking was no issue and communication with host was very easy. We hope to come back and visit again!
