About this house rental
Come stay at this beautiful home for a perfect summer or winter getaway. This 4 bedroom house sits on a hillside with panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake to the south and Mt. Baldy to the east. The family-friendly vacation village of Grand Lake is a short walk away and offers restaurants, cafes, galleries, western themed shops, ice cream parlors, a small grocery store, and live theater. Miniature golf and a go-cart track are a short walk away.
In the summer enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, and golfing. The house is within minutes of the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike right into the park from the town of Grand Lake or drive Trail Ridge Road, which crests at over 12,000 feet and has many overlooks of this unique alpine and subalpine world. Hike into the backcountry, summit a peak, or go on a Ranger led activity; you are close to everything this 100+ year old National Park has to offer.
Wildlife activity in the area is common in both summer and winter. It is common to see elk and moose year around. Pica, marmots, deer, and bighorn sheep are frequently seen in the national park.
In winter you can hit the trails on snowshoes or cross country skis. There is a great Nordic ski center nearby which also has a free tubing hill and the town maintains a small skating rink in winter that is free to the public. The low key ski area Granby Ranch is 25 minutes away, and the large ski resort of Winter Park is just 45 minutes away for those who need more extreme terrain.
The home features an open floor plan with a well supplied kitchen opening onto the living and dining rooms, with high ceilings, fireplace, and large windows looking out onto the lake and mountains. The Great Room opens out to a large deck where you can relax and enjoy the views and mountain air. The dining room table has room to seat ten with room for three more along the kitchen bar. The open loft above the Great Room offers additional living space with TV, sofa, and table for board games and puzzles with 5 chairs.
The private master suite, just off the loft, has a king-size bed and a full bathroom with large jetted tub and separate shower. On the main level are two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds, and a full bath. On the lower level is the kids' and teens' hideaway - a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a twin size bed with trundle. The lower level also includes a 3/4 bathroom and washing machine and dryer.
WiFi and cable TV are provided. There is a DVD player in the upstairs loft with a library of movies, games and books.

This was a very spacious house. We had plenty of room for our family — 5 adults and 2 toddlers. It’s close to the entrance of RMNP and to downtown Grand Lake. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for a friends wedding. This house was perfect!

Overall very satisfied however, a few things could be improved. For instance, there weren’t enough pillows and/or extremely poor quality and flat. At this price, I would expect all bedrooms to have at least a streaming tv, especially master bedroom. David was very good at communicating before arrival.

Beautiful views, delightful family gathering space, close to Grand Lake. We were in town for a wedding, and we could easily meet with others in town. Master Bedroom is delightful.
Well stocked kitchen.

This is a nice house. Plenty of room for the 6 of us and our dogs. Lots of stuff in the cabinets, spices, coffee, sugar... lots of pots and pans, and plates and silverware and glasses and dishes. It's in a great spot, 5 mins walk town and nice restaurants and shops. Overall very happy

I was pleasantly surprised when I entered this cabin. It was perfect for what my friends & I were hoping to spend our NYE - close to downtown (we drove bc of cold/snow but you could walk), clean and spacious. This place definitely gives you a cabin feel of Grand Lake.

The property’s location and view is jaw dropping. The cabin is excellent for a large family reunion. My disappointment stems from serious cleanliness issues, no outside trash can and no extra paper towels anywhere. I can say 2/3 concerns were addressed with communication from Dave before our stay ended. It was VERY clear to me our experience was distressing to him, and that he strives for a higher expectation of the cleaning crew than we found. I suspect my experience was a one off, but l leave this review because I think it’s critical to know that Dave will respond to your concerns.

Grand Lake
A well rented property that could use a deep clean and some upkeep, but a good location; a short walk into town.

Great View!
The home has tons of space and has a great layout! The location is walking distance from town and the lake! Absolutely perfect for our needs. The house itself is a bit warn down and in need of a good cleaning. The carpets had many stains on them, the dining room chairs need new padding (very uncomfortable to sit)and there should be fans in every room - it gets HOT at night in the master bedroom & its the only room without a box fan. All the comforters need to be washed as well - we had to remove the downstairs ones before sleeping, they had so many spots on them. There was a thick layer of dust on must items as well. Overall good experience because the location and layout were just what we were looking for, it just needs a good cleaning.

Relaxing mountain retreat
We took my 89-yr-old mother for a 3-day Mother's Day retreat to the mountains and enjoyed our time away. The flight of stairs on the exterior of the house to reach the front door is pretty steep & a bit slippery when wet. We definitely noticed the higher altitude while unloading our bags & groceries up the stairs, but my mother was cozy in her room on the main floor with the nice full bath.
Driving up from just 3 hours East of Grand Lake, we were able to take all of our supplies and groceries to cook all of our meals. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed. The view of Shadow Mountain Lake is incredible. We enjoyed watching the full panorama of the weather changing by the hour, including a full day of snow. The neighborhood is small, very quiet and the dark skies made for great star gazing. Easy to find, close to town and the grocery store, yet we still felt a world away from the city.

Property is absolutely amazing. The house layout is fantastic for large families. Kitchen is fully stocked! (We brought our own espresso machine, which was already there)! We usually take a March trip to Mexico, but d/t COVID did not feel comfortable traveling, This vacation was an excellent alternative!

Fun Spring Break getaway
Great little property in Grand Lake. Close enough to walk around town and within a few miles of many fun locations. We slept 7 (ages adult, adult, 20, 17, 9, 5, and 5) comfortably and enjoyed the split levels of the home. The kitchen is well stocked and the place is well kept. We didn't end up talking to the host or neighbors much other than a wave as we drove by, but everyone seemed friendly and helpful online. Thank you!

Grand Lake
It was a nice property and located near the wedding venue. There were a LOT of steep stairs which I wasn't prepared for. (Especially to get to the front door.) Overall we had a great time and the property was clean and well stocked.

Great Location
This is a great place to enjoy Grand Lake. Close enough to town to drive quickly or walk if you wish. The house is very nice but the highlight is the front porch with great views of the lake and mountains. Children and adults will love the hummingbirds that come to the feeder. We enjoyed cooking out there as well as meals at the table. Coffee in the morning and amazing stars at night. Would go back in a heartbeat

Excellent Location and View
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent one night in Estes Park after this, and the quietness and quaintness of Grand Lake is far preferable to us. The downside to the town is that groceries are a bit hard to come by and expensive.
The house has everything you could want to eat in. We used the gas grill which worked well and was clean.

Great place for a two-family getaway
We went with 2 families and there was enough rooms to separate boys/ girls and couples. We walked into town as well as the short distance to the market a number of times. Sledding down the driveway was fun for the younger kids and the nordic center for bigger tubing and cross-country skiing wasn't far. The kitchen was nicely stocked with decent pot/ pans/ knives and silverwear. Any questions we had for the owner were responded to promptly. We will definitely try to stay here again either in the summer or the winter.
