We had our family together for our daughter and new son’s wedding and it was the perfect home for us. Main level bedroom and bath for our parents, space above the garage for the “kids”, and beautiful rooms for morning coffee, breakfast, post-wedding pizza and relaxing in between. Our group of 8 women rented this house for our annual reunion and it fill our needs perfectly. Cleanliness, we’ll stocked kitchen, nice location, and many decks made this a great choice for us.

This is a yearly trip for our Association Board Members. The house is amazing! It’s clean, big and comfortable! The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Clean, spacious and well appointed

Came to town with 11 friends for a much needed Dads golf trip getaway. The house is super clean and slept all of us (all in mid 30s) very comfortably. Kirk and Barb were very responsive on the VRBO app and were available for any questions I had by cell/text. We enjoyed it so much we may be coming back next year!

Our group of Mothers and Daughters loved this home! It was beautiful, squeaky clean, well stocked and organized. The beds were comfortable and the linens were great quality. Don’t let the lengthy disclosure/contract scare you away. Just treat it as if it is your own home and all will be well. Any issues that we had in the booking, contractual stage and during our stay were handled promptly.

One of the cleanest vacation rentals I've ever stayed at - absolutely spotless. Beautifully decorated and comfortable home in a scenic location & great neighborhood - it was fun to walk around the neighborhood and check out the river views and other beautiful houses! Be prepared for a more involved reservation process that usual due to city ordinances - I was surprised to have to provide first and last names of all guests (including children, which made me apprehensive) and license plates numbers ahead of the stay. The check in process and stay itself was easily 5/5!

We had our daughter’s wedding in Stillwater and had 9 people staying here. Comfortable space and fairly close to downtown. Communication was good and everyone had a great time.

We had 6 couples, and all had a comfortable bed to sleep in. The home is gorgeous and clean. Stillwater is so charming. We had a wonderful time!

Our book club was having our 20th anniversary and decided to stay in Stillwater. There were nine of us and this home was the perfect, relaxing space to stay and spend time with one another. The house is absolutely beautiful and everything is in perfect condition. I can't imagine a better place for our group to stay!

We enjoyed our stay in Stillwater, and we loved the space this vrbo provided so close to downtown. Just know that this listing has a long contract with many rules and notes for the renter regarding the property, number of people, age you have to be to rent (30 yrs), license plates of cars, etc. My husband and I have stayed in many vrbos both in the US and in other countries, and I had never seen anything like it! This is the owners primary residence, and they are very particular about everything and will be there to walk you through the house at checkin. It was just a different experience than what we have been used to in the past…

The home was very pretty and the views were great. Nice large kitchen with all amenities needed. Beds and pillows were comfortable and towels were the big fluffy ones. There were 8 of us staying there and we all enjoyed Stillwater for shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Super hosts!!! Awesome house with plenty of room and close to everything! Our group of 6-10 have stayed here many times and it is always perfect, clean, comfortable and safe! We love it!

Our stay at Barb and Kirk’s lovely home was wonderful. It is very clean with a well appointed kitchen, plenty of space for a large group, well stocked with paper products, spices, coffee, bath products and anything you would! The beds are comfortable and an ample amount of bath towels are provided. The yard is perfect for games and a fire pit for cool evening! I would highly recommend this beautiful property if you plan to stay in Stillwater!

Perfect home for our family get together. We had our adult kids & grandkids! Very accommodating, clean, nice neighborhood for walks , especially to the park nearby! Also enjoyed the views from the balcony!

This spacious home offered maximum comfort for a group. The kitchen was the best outfitted we have ever seen. The comfortable, roomy seating in the living room allowed lots of relaxed, visiting time. It was so nice to have the options of a kitchen bar, dining table, as well as a table on the porch. Our only issue was with the 1-step design throughout the house - that was tricky to adjust to!

This home was gorgeous! Enjoyed visits on the porch overlooking the st croix. Close to downtown and great good. It was exactly what I was looking for. I’d stay again anytime I wanted to be in the area! Thanks Barb!

Property was very nice and in a quiet, safe neighborhood with a nice view. Short drive or longer walk into town, readily available taxi/ shuttle service. Owners were cordial and informative. Very nice stay.

From the first moment my son and I toured the property, we knew this was the perfect spot for our family reunion. The house has five bedrooms, plus a loft. The views of the river are spectacular! All the modern conveniences are available. It’s a short walk to downtown. This is a fantastic gathering spot for larger groups!

We had the best time at this house! Night one we had a pajamas night in and there was so much room for us to play games, talk all night, and eat all the things! The home is bigger than it appears on the listing which was a fun surprise! Kirk was super helpful checking us in and it was a mile or so from downtown Stillwater! A delight!

We had a wonderful time with family over Christmas. Lots of room to spread out and big rooms to have meals and hang out together. Loved the spacious kitchen. Clean and well stocked. Very comfortable!

This lovely house is spacious, very clean, with a well equipped kitchen. It is in a very quiet location with a beautiful view over the St. Croix River but also very close to charming downtown Stillwater. We could definitely check to see if the house is available if we visit Stillwater again.

Cons: Some of the people in our group were not comfortable staying in a strangers primary residence. While their home is large, nicely remodeled, and spotless, they had some rules that made some of us feel like we were walking on egg shells. To start they had to meet us at the door and then showed us around. I don't really want to see the owner as it makes some feel for lac of a better words - uncomfortable - like 'I will be sleeping in your bed tonight'... They also had their family photos around on wall and shelves further making us feel like we can't fully let go and relax. A few rules that were not listed until after I purchased the rental, I found a bit much were: "their are decorative hand towels on the rods in the bathroom, please don't use those", also "please don't lay on or use the decorative pillows on the beds", "no food or drink past the dinning/kitchen" and "absolutely no shoes are allowed in house" . These rules make some feel like they are in their crazy clean mother-in-laws house. I think if those rules, the family pictures, and the meet and tour were changed, so renters feel less like a stranger in someone's home would be a great help. The house is in a lovely neighborhood with houses surrounding all sides of the house. There were no curtains in either the dinning/kitchen, or living room. So in the evening we felt like we were in a fish bowl. People were often walking and or driving by. In the description it says walk downtown, but it seemed farther than many might want to walk (I'm guessing it's more like a mile or two). I would maybe specify how far it is, to be transparent. Elderly caution: There is a stair from the kitchen to the dinning room that the owner warned us not to trip on, they even had sign put right by it, funny yet most of us still tripped on it. Pros: Lots of rooms, and space for spreading out. Very nice house, lots of attention to details, newly remodeled, spotless, nice charming neighborhood, friendly polite owners, let us check in early, pretty view of the bridge, as it was their home it was fully stocked with everything you might need (kitchen supplies, bathroom supplies...), comfortable beds with nice linens, use of nice laundry and dryer and great vacation town. If you are ok with staying in someone's home you would not be disappointed. I myself and a few others in our group had never stayed in a VRBO that was quite this personal so we were not as comfortable as some might be.

The property was beautiful! It was the perfect place for ladies getaway. The house has everything you need and more. Our only glitch was the check in process. I didn’t realize when we booked it was not a self check so make sure you communicate your actual arrival time and not an estimate time when booking. The host did accommodate us and we would definitely book this property again!

The Ackerman home was terrific and perfect for our annual ladies weekend! The owner, Barb, was such a wonderful host providing great recommendations for restaurants and shopping in Stillwater. She even had a bottle of wine sent to our table at the restaurant we dined at our first night! The online photos of the house are great, but the house is even lovelier in person. The view of the river is spectacular. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms were so clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks again Barb for a wonderful stay!

This property was beautiful, well located and very functional for our purposes. Needing a larger property to accommodated our family stay for our son's weeding, this property with its layout and furnishings made work perfectly. We were very pleased with this property and the hosts.
