Perfect north shore feel! Nice space to visit...amazing deck! Was very well stocked for anything we could need and more. Beds were so comfortable. The motion lights on the stable concrete walk/steps to the house were very nice. That walk gave the place an even more secluded private feel.

A very roomy & comfortable VRBO. Tucked away in the woods, it is very private, yet still close to many sites to see in Duluth & up the North Shore. I would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful time was had by our extended family of 12. The kitchen was awesome for our collection of chefs. Everything you could think of was there, including an amazing coffee bar. Our favorite place to dine was at the long tables on the huge porch with a Blackstone grill at the ready!
The house is convenient to activites in Duluth as well as up the North Shore. Our favorite lake was Island lake. A mere 20 minutes inland.
Thank you!!!

Our group stayed at the house for just a weekend, but we all wished it had been longer! We had a group of 11 and the house slept us all comfortably. There was plenty of room for event to sit and chat, have meals, and enjoy the peaceful privacy of the property. The host, Loren, was very responsive and helpful throughout the rental process, even providing an extra wagon to help get everything up to the house. We would absolutely recommend renting this house!

This property was Amazing. It accommodated our entire group with plenty of space. Every single thing we needed for cooking was at our disposal and very well organized. I have absolutely no gripes about anything! The owner lives close by and was an incredible host. We go on family vacations every year and pick a cabin. We've never experienced the hospitality and attention to detail we had from this wonderful owner. I would recommend this spot to anyone! Thank you

The house was wonderful. We spent a lot of time on the covered porch. We also enjoyed the ping pong table. The kitchen was well stocked. The little kids enjoyed throwing stones off of the bridge into the creek! We would highly recommend. Maybe add on the listing that there is an available port a crib.

This was a great property for a weekend with friends. the house is well appointed for a group, and we enjoyed countless hours chatting away on the deck. Lovely spot.

Great remote location close enough to great hikes and the city. Plenty to do on site. Would stay again.

We really enjoyed all the space and the covered outside seating area was amazing. Private outdoor setting with the noise of the creeks running water through the property was very soothing. A rainy day didn't even interrupt our time we had to spend with one another.

We stayed in this property for a short weekend and we just loved it. The home was spacious. There were 5 bedrooms with another bed, futon and roll-away bed available in the master, a single bed under the stairs, and even a couch if you need it. The kitchen is stocked, there are are games available inside and outside for fun. The living room was cozy with the wood burning fireplace. There are more light switches in this place than we had ever seen before! It was almost like a scavenger hunt trying to figure out how to work all of the lights. Haha! The 2 story deck was amazing and just perfect for sitting outside listening to the stream in front of the house. We came away with 2 recommendations. Bring a cart or a portable wagon to help haul your things to the house. You will need to carry all of your stuff over a bridge and up a hill to the cabin. It was quite the workout for these old ladies! It might be helpful to stash a wagon or 2 in the large brown locker in the parking area for guests to use. Also, we spent a lot of time imaging the history of the build of this house. The original cabin walls are easily identifiable. It would be really cool if you had photos of the history of the original to how it became what it is today. Maybe a photo book or something. We also enjoyed reading the guest book entries from all of the other wonderful trips that had been mad to this house. Thank you so much and we cannot wait to go back!

We had the perfect little getaway and the property was beyond amazing. Loren was extremely responsive and great to communicate with. You can really tell he takes pride in the property and his guests. We were also extremely impressed by the amount of kid amenities that were provided (baby gates were an amazing addition provided by the family!) and the fun toys for them. Looking forward to staying here in the future!

This property got rave reviews from all the people here for a writing retreat. The bedrooms are cozy, the sitting areas are inviting, and the big dining table allowed us to gather around and talk about writing. Everyone felt inspired! It was easy to make meals and hot tea and coffee to go along with the meals. Wish we didn't have to leave!

Annual family gathering with our 3 adult children, their spouses, and grandkids. We returned to the Timber Home because we liked it so much when we stayed here 2 years ago. Plenty of bed space and tons of sturdy kitchenware for feeding hungry folks after hiking at the area parks. The two coffee makers got a workout as almost everyone over the age of 13 drinks a few cups each morning. Secluded in the woods, yet really close to Duluth, and only a short drive to Two Harbors, Gooseberry, Split Rock, etc. A bit of effort to get all your gear into the house, but it's worth it once you're done. Great communication from the property owner and no problems at all during our stay. Thanks again, Loren!

What a lovely property! We were in the Duluth area for a wedding & some Fall exploring & this beautiful cabin was our home for a long weekend with three families. The home is the perfect blend of quaint & modern, with a cabin-feel but all the amenities you need. Very clean, incredibly well-stocked, and with perfect spaces to hang out - the living room for chats, the long dining table for group games, a huge covered porch for visits & outdoor dining, and a firepit for an evening beverage & catchup. The owner was the perfect host - great communication, accommodating to special requests, and even brought some firewood for us. The location is great as well - close to Duluth & a quick drive to Gooseberry & Split Rock. We loved our stay & look forward to returning!

Gosh, what more can be said? Just read all the previous reviews. 5 stars all around! This stay has everything you need, inside, outside, nearby, and as far as you want to travel along the North Shore. Clean and comfortable. Perfect for our group of 14 ages 6 years to 78 years.

I wasn’t going to write a review, but I felt an obligation. The upstairs clawfoot tub includes a shower head. A simple 30 second google search will tell you that you cannot convert a clawfoot tub to a shower due to its curved sides and slippery surface. I immediately fell in the tub and hit my side on the 2” high protruding metal knob on the side of the tub. I bruised, if not fractured, my ribs. I could hardly move for two days and have a huge purple bruise. But it would’ve been easy to hit my head, become disabled or die in this fall. So for me, there’s a big difference between “whimsy” and poor design and construction. I wanted to post this in case something similar happens to another guest.

Perfect for a large group! Everyone was super impressed with the property. Slept everyone comfortably and we really loved the large deck! Great experience and communication, would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 4 nights. We had 6 adults and 3 kids. We found the property had room for everyone. The large porch and indoor dining room could seat our group together. It is quiet and in the woods. In fact one morning we had a once in a lifetime bobcat siting! The property is well maintained and clean. We made a few trips to canal park and also visited Gooseberry falls! Would recommend and hope to be back!

Our family had an amazing time staying here. We had 15 family members and the house worked great. Loren was a wonderful owner that if we needed anything he took care of it right away. Wonderful experience!!!!

Very cozy and comfortable. Has a “House on the Rock” feel. The kids all had there little area to go to and there was also some large gathering areas. Definitely in the woods. A bit of a challenge to get from parking area to front door. It was very enjoyable.

Gorgeous Timber home for our family getaway. Very spacious house to accommodate 10 of us. The property was well stocked with all the essentials. Love the dining area for all of us to eat meals together. Thanks for a great stay!

The house was a perfect size for four families (15 people). It was clean and well stocked and lots of fun extras… High chairs, games, outdoor games, and fire pit… while it felt very private and secluded it was actually an easy drive to so many beautiful hikes, trails, waterfalls, lighthouses, state parks and the list goes on. We would love to return!!!

We had a great time here with 13 adults. We had to share some beds and bring a couple air mattresses but we never felt cramped or out of space. Property and house were both lovely (covered deck was very handy with all the rain!) and host was very communicative. We would definitely rent this property again.
