Instead of parking problems, heavy traffic & crowded beaches, a typical day could look something like this:
In the early morning, from your master bedroom’s private sundeck; view the eastern sky & large ships that appear small, moving effortlessly through a vast body of water while you are enjoying your first cup of coffee. Walk over your small dune that reveals the shoreline of the Delaware Bay; soothe your soul by feeling the calmness of a new day.
As you watch the pink, orange, & gold sunrise over the water, the calm changes, you feel a breeze coming from the salty sea, you see & hear the waves begin to lap onto the beach, birds appear, start chirping, & move toward the one-foot surf; you now know why Broadkill Beach is the best-kept secret in all of Delaware.
Linger & watch the Cape May/Lewes Ferry travel across the mouth of the Delaware Bay to its destination. Watch dolphins playing, splashing & catching fish just in front of you. Walk north toward the Broadkill Store, turn over stranded horseshoe crabs & stop to investigate the life on & around the rock jetty.
At low tide look for hermit crabs, starfish, conchs & other sea life in the shallow water around these rocks. Read, relax, swim & take a nap at the water’s edge & refresh yourself with lunch in the cool air conditioning of your retreat just behind the small dune you crossed over earlier in the day.
Walk south from your private beach path toward Beach Plum Island State Park & ask the fishermen if they are catching anything. Look south & identify the Roosevelt Inlet, historic Lewes, Henlopen Point & the breakwater lighthouse.
Return to your resting place, take an outdoor shower & plan your evening by making sure you are back home to sit on the bench seats of your private observation deck to watch a spectacular sunset over a Federal Wildlife Refuge & waterway adjoining your own backyard.
This open-concept home, built in the perfect location, was designed for comfort, convenience, & enjoyment to be shared with family, friends, & now with you. It consists of two living areas that are included in the weekly rental fee; a three-bedroom house & a one-room efficiency that sleeps 3. The two areas are connected by an enclosed staircase & access to an outdoor shower, changing area, & privacy space.
Imagine the convenience of bringing your own boat to launch & dock in back, giving you access to limitless activities & adventures that few people are fortunate enough to discover or experience. Spend the day fishing & crabbing from the dock, exploring winding tributaries in the backwaters, drifting on the Broadkill River, charging through the Roosevelt Inlet into the open expanse of the Delaware Bay & Atlantic Ocean waiting for you to experience all it has to offer.
BRING YOUR TOYS, IF YOU DON'T, YOU'LL WISH YOU HAD!
Launch your boat, jet skis, canoes, kayaks & other flotation vessels into the backwaters. Navigate south on the Broadkill River to Lewes for a cocktail & meal at the waterside restaurants. Go out the Roosevelt Inlet for bay fishing or jet skiing. Come around on the bay to your home at Broadkill & take the family for a ride on the jet skis, go tubing & wakeboarding, or load everyone up on the pontoon boat for a day trip & picnic lunch.
Head back in the Inlet & get a gasoline fill-up on the water in Lewes. Your dock is long enough to hold a 24-foot pontoon boat in the water for the week & still have plenty of room to crab, fish, catch minnows, sunbathe, put up a baby pool, fill with water, sit, & relax.
Replenish your mind & soul with the serenity of the environment, meditate, read, & experience the sunset from the dock of your private oasis.

We don't have a boat, but, the dock was nice to hang out with cocktails. Had a little bit of confusion, because of the wrong address on listing.

Family of 12 had a great week at your house. Great location and loved fishing from the dock out back.

Wendy provides you with the most perfect home for a stay in Broadkill. The house is just steps away from the beach and the private beach path is a wonderful touch! The house had everything we needed for the week including a wide variety of kitchen appliances to use while cooking meals. We traveled with a 1 year old and there were even things in the house that benefitted him like a seated wagon and multiple pack n plays! Our family enjoyed having the options of being on the beach or fishing out back on the dock. Wendy also provides you with some outdoor games as well such as cornhole and frisbee. The house was very clean on arrival and Wendy even assisted with providing some tools we needed to go crabbing. We would definitely book with Wendy again for a relaxing stay in Broadkill beach.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The owners were easy to communicate with and quick to respond to all the questions I had before booking and before we arrived. Check-in was a snap, and the house was spotless when we arrived. Best of all, there were no surprises; the house and amenities were exactly as advertised.
Every night we enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous sunset from the dock, and every morning we were on the beach, via the private path, watching the sunrise. We also had a great view of both the sunrise and sunset from the balconies off the master bedroom; one on either side of the house. You really couldn't ask for a better view.
If you have a large family that wants to hit the beach often and you're looking for a nice, quiet, neighborhood, you really can't beat this home. We had seven people in the house, and we fit very comfortably. We never once felt as if we were tripping over each other or were in each other's way.
My kids are already asking if we're going back to the same house next summer!

The house is in good shape with plenty of room for a full family. The beach across the street is beautiful, as is the river in the backyard. The owners are lovely, friendly and helpful; the house means a lot to them and it shows. Plenty of amenities. Quite a few stairs, which is endemic to the area which can be subject to rare hurricane water damage. Overall a terrific experience, unique for its conveniences combined with quiet, off-the-path location.

We had a 10/10 vacation. The dock was a huge hit with our group. Crabbing was fun. The beach trail & private access was nice. The Bay waters are usually very calm & low tide is about 3ft deep for 100 yards so basically a huge baby pool. Plan around tides; go after high tide or get washed out.
We liked the multiple entry points with double doors & screens for keeping bugs out. The trundles in every room were helpful as older children sorted out sleeping configurations. The sunken living room was helpful for containing our toddlers. I actually forgot a pack and play and they had 2 upstairs so that was very helpful! We enjoyed the outdoor shower, grill, efficiency room, the fish cutting table, the hose locations. Overall, many good memories were made.
tips: Bullfrog sunscreen is also bug repellent- get a good deal of it for your group as well as regular 40% deet bug spray (mosquitoes and greenheads from the marsh mean always wear some repellent; you won’t always need sunscreen though), they have 2 pack and plays upstairs, check the efficiency room kitchenette cabinets for plates/bowls/cups for the kids.
Had a great time! Thanks Wendy and Brandon!

We had 6 adults and 7 children between 3 and 12. The kids LOVED the house and the beach. We loved that it was not a prodution to go to the beach. No packing up and hauling your life for an afternoon. No torture finding parking. The older kids enjoyed the bike cruisers. The outdoor shower is perfect. Everyone wanted to stay longer. Overall a great week and a beautiful location.

Just got back from our mini vacation on Broadkill Beach. The access to both the beach in front and the dock and wetlands in back was the main draw for us. The kids (and even the teens!!) had fun crabbing off the dock and kayaking through the canals. Two thumbs up!

For those who seek wonderful salt marsh views and sunsets; fishing, crabbing, and boating at the back door, and easy access to beaches with calm surf and few people - this home offers all. Located near end of lane on spit dividing Broadkill beach and a branch of Old Mill Creek, the location is relatively secluded, with little road traffic. Milton is about 15 minutes' drive, has large grocery store and pharmacy, and a good bakery/casual restaurant (The Backyard). It takes 30 or so minutes to drive to Lewes and Cape Henlopen State Park. It was August, and depending on wind direction and strength, the beach was sometimes buggy. House was well-equipped, and we especially welcomed the two kayaks and excellent creek-side dock. Wendy and her family were super friendly and responsive to the few questions we had during our stay.

Family Vacation
My family (adult children and my grandchildren) are making the beach our annual vacation. This year was extra special as my oldest son is deploying overseas next week :( We had a total of 13 people; 6 of them being children aged 9 and under. There was never a dull moment from crabbing to swimming to heading to Rehobeth for a boardwalk day. The beach and wildlife are nothing we had ever experienced before, as we typically are at a more resort type beach, The campfire in the evenings, the AMAZING sunsets and swimming in the bay with the children is the BEST. There is not one bad thing to say about our entire stay, We enjoyed every second and the only negative was the fact that we had to leave. We would rate more stars if we could! Forever thankful......The Carrollls...

Celebrating 40 years
The house was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate together with our kids and grandkids. There was never a moment of boredom. We fished, went crabbing, played on the beach, cooked and ate delicious meals together. Our regrets were not having time to bike and kayak, not forcing our kids to quit their jobs so we could stay longer and watching our 7-year old grandson cry when we made him turn his “pet” crab loose,

Best Private beach! Beautiful property!
I had a surprise bday party for my mother on the beach. Me, my wife and son all stayed for a few days and had the party that Saturday. A couple people stayed that night before they went home. There is more than enough space and amenities to satisfy all needs. There are plenty of fans along with central air to keep cool. We even used the grill on site. The views are amazing. Perfect for family photos. If I could give 6 starts I would!!

Beautiful, tranquil spot
One of the cleanest places I've stayed at from this site. Private dock and beach access were really nice. Beach was clean and not crowded at all. Kayaks and bikes were also a plus! Perfect place for a quiet family vacation. I would reccomend bringing a few baby gates if you have infants/toddlers though as there is a lot of steps in the house.

One of our most memorable family vacations! Our grand 7 children ages from 4-14 and our adult children has a great time. Broadkill beach has everything we are looking for: wonderful comfortable home, kayaking, crabbing, swimming, campfire on the beach. Our owner, host was attentive and we had everything we needed and more.

Family Vacation
I will have to say my family and I truly enjoyed our vacation at the home. Wonderful area, with great access to a private beach. Great location to the outlets, Rehoboth and Lewes. Wendy made check in and check out easy. The home was big enough for my group of 14! Plenty of room and beds for everyone. We even fished and went crabbing off of the dock. The sunsets on the deck were absolutely beautiful. I can’t say enough about this home. Wonderful wonderful wonderful!

A great time with great views
Everything was as-described and the hosts were extremely helpful. We learned that a bug spray with 10% or more Picaridin is key if the greenhead flys are out.

family vacation
The location and proximity to both the private beach and canal make this property a great family vacation spot. for swimming and kayaking from the dock. The kids especially enjoyed the horseshoe crabs! We enjoyed hanging out at the house, trips to the boardwalk, restaurants, etc.
The house was well stocked, clean, and the beds very comfortable. Thanks to Wendy for her great communication and personal greeting. We would definitely recommend this rental!

An incredible weekend getaway with wonderful amenities
We stayed at this lovely home for a long weekend to celebrate a graduation, and it was perfect. The location is quiet with access to both the canal and the beach, offering something for everyone. The street is perfect for quiet evening walks or bike rides, and the neighbors were friendly and helpful. The house is incredibly well-stocked, from the kitchen that has everything you could want for light cooking and hosting. It was spotless upon our arrival, and very comfortably slept our 12 guests and the beds were clean and comfortable.
I would highly, highly recommend this home. The Wulffleffs were excellent hosts with great communication and we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather on Broadkill!

Wonderful stay!
We rented Wendy’s lovely home in Broadkill Beach for four weeks and were so glad we found it. Communication was excellent. The house was very clean when we arrived and was perfect for our group, which was two couples and a newborn. The views from the master bedroom—being able to watch dolphins swim in the sea on one side and numerous birds and gorgeous sunsets over an unspoiled estuary on the other couldn’t be beat. We were looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful natural setting and Broadkill Beach was just what the doctor ordered—a quaint and welcoming beach community that feels almost from a bygone era, sandwiched between the calm swimmable waters of the Delaware Bay and the Prime Hook Nature Reserve, which is definitely worth exploring. Without any of the urban sprawl and commercialism of the towns further down the Delaware shore but close enough to civilazation that picking up groceries or food from a restaurant never felt like an inconvenience. We also really enjoyed visiting Cape Henlopen State Park which is quite close and has one of the most beautiful ocean beaches on the East Coast. I could go on about how great our vacation at Wendy’s place was but rather I’d just recommend that you rent it and see for yourself.

Comfortable house, excellent location
This was a very well equipped house, with all that we needed for our 9 family members. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The house is steps away from a quiet beach that was perfect for kids and adults. We enjoyed bird watching from the dock that faced the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge, and launched our kayaks and rowboat from there. We made good use of the cornhole game and the grill, and used the flashlights to observe ghost crabs on the beach at night. Nearby Cape Henlopen State Park provided many walking trails to choose from. We also explored Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The owners were very responsive and answered all questions.

FIVE STAR RENTAL
Wendy the property owner was on site upon arrival and showed us around. She answered all our questions and to our amazement the property was exactly as described in the listing plus. We were impressed with the extras that were provided like paper towels, hand soap, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc. Will rebook the next time we decide to vacation on the Delaware shore.

Wonderful week at Broadkill Beach!
My family and I were desperate for a change of scenery after 3 months at home during the COVID crisis. This property was just ideal - we had a fabulous, relaxing week. My husband and I were there with our 3 kids (two teenage boys and an 11 year old girl) and they each brought a friend. The house was perfect for our group of 8. It was clean and stocked with equipment, exactly as described. The beach was right across the street. It was quiet and beautiful - we couldn't believe how few people were there. The water was warm and clear, and we spend our days at the beach, in the kayaks, and on the sundecks. We didn't use the dock because we don't have boats and or fishing equipment, but it was lovely to look at and the sunsets were incredible. We cooked and grilled every night, and used the firepit several nights for s'mores and hanging out. There were a couple times when we reached out to the owners with questions, and they provided immediate response/assistance and were so pleasant to deal with. We felt so lucky to have found this house and unique beach experience. We would definitely go back and / or recommend to others. Amy
