About this house rental
Welcome to Heavens Gate Cabin, nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and tucked away in a small quiet community located only minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. This is a beautiful rustic log cabin that offers 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. 1 king, 2 queens, 2 twins. The cabin sleeps 8 comfortably and if you add a few sleeping bags for small children the cabin has large rooms to accommodate the little campers.
The Living Room area offers a large wood-burning fireplace and large glass windows to take in the views the Blue Ridge Mountains and the outside foliage. There is also a large Smart TV and lots of space to stretch out an relax in front of the large wood burning fireplace and take in the ambiance.
A chefs kitchen and granite countertops, fully equipped. A dining area with a large handmade custom table to play board games and socialize.
For your convenience, here is a layout of the cabin.
The King master with attached ensuite is located on the main level and has its own entrance to the rear deck area where you can find the grill and outdoor seating to take in the beautiful mountain views and vistas.
There is a Queen guest bedroom on the main level as well with a guest bathroom right next to the bedroom.
The upstairs area has a loft lounging area and offers a bedroom with two twin beds and a guest bathroom.
The downstairs area is where you will find the game room, with a pool table, fooseball and ping pong table as well as the additional guest Queen bedroom with an attached en suite and laundry room area.
All linens and towels of quality are provided. We also provide hand soap, trash bags, laundry and dish pods, and a supply of toilet paper for the first few days.

The evenings are generally cool so feel free to build a fire in the large fire pit and roast marshmellows under a blanket of stars.
Once the cold weather returns and the snow begins to fall you may want to try out the ski slopes or snow tubing. Wolf Ridge is about a thirty-minute drive or you can head North to Beech Mountain or Sugar Mountain about 45 minutes from the cabin.
The access to the cabin is easy: paved roads all the way to the keypad gate and then an easy flat drive on to the cabin, located just 5 miles from the town of Little Switzerland and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
You will find that although this cabin is very private there are many things to do within fifteen minutes from the cabin. Explore the Blue Ridge Parkway just 3 miles from the cabin, Gem mining is just around the corner and Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Linville Caverns is just a 30 minutes drive. There is also a area just below the cabin that offers three trout ponds and a picnic area directly on a rushing creek. At times you will see turkey, deer, raccoons, birds, black bear. Visit Crabtree Falls from within the neighborhood. Drive to the parking area and its an easy 25 minute hike even for kids.

Water pressure in showers low and dishwasher not cleaning. Great view and lots to do, we had a great time.

Nice deck with fantastic views. House comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. Good communication from vrbo and management staff. Really enjoyed our stay. Only complaint -- house could have been cleaner, especially master bathroom shower which had a a lot of mold on floor and lower walls.

Awesome place to stay at if you want to get away. The hot tub off of the house is great especially at night when heavy fog is blowing through. You cant get bored with pool, ping pong, and foosball in the garage. It is away from the couple towns around but only like 25 minutes away. We went to Carrage House in Burnsville and the food there was amazing. Nothing plain or boring there and really the same for Live Oak Gastropub in Spruce Pine.

Our family took a vacation this year the week of Thanksgiving and it was one of our favorites! The house was beautiful, roomy, and the game room and jacuzzi were a hit! The neighborhood was fantastic. There is nothing bad I can say about our stay…except they need a new can opener 😉.
Check in was a breeze and the property mangers were super fast with responses. Highly recommend!

We annually travel to Spruce Pine/Little Switzerland area to visit with the wife's family. Normally it is just she and I. This year we took all the kids and grandkids. Everyone enjoyed the cabin and there was plenty of room for everyone. Had to call property once due to a breaker being tripped and they immediately took care of it. Overall we had a great week long vacation and stay at the cabin.

Overall, this home was furnished very nicely. Great kitchen and firepit and hot tub. We thought we would play pool and enjoy the game room, but ended up not having the time. The coffee maker wouldn't work, but the owners promptly had another one delivered to us. They were responsive when we reached out. The master bedroom was enormous with a huge unused space, which could be made much cozier with the use of bedside tables and lamps on both sides of the bed and next to the sofa. We like to read and ended up buying a lamp to read by at Walmart. I advise bringing your own soaps and shampoos in case there are none when you arrive. These are small things. As I said, the property itself is very nice and accommodating for a family, and the owners were very responsive when we needed help.

We loved our stay at heavens gate. The views were amazing! We had fun with the puzzles and games as well as the game room downstairs. The hot tub was so relaxing after long days exploring the area. The cabin had everything we needed and more, it was a very comfortable stay. Communication was easy, very responsive. The common areas in the development were awesome and we loved being able to hike right from the neighborhood. We had a lovely stay!

Master bedroom - needs standing towel rack for complete drying of towels and bath mat, needs place to hang clothes. Gutter drip very loud at night, screen door and sliding door to deck need attention, both hard to move.
Kitchen oven door drops to floor and injured my wife foot!

This was our second stay here. This house is clean bright and spacious. Good directions and good roads to the property. Close to Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful view from the deck and hot tub. Melissa checked in with us (email) to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Highly recommend the property and management. Thank you for hosting us. Regards Mel

Front door was open when we drove up with keys in the door lock. Down stairs bedroom does not have a vent for cooling/heating. The code for changing the thermostat from cool to heat was not provided. The shower heads are not adequate for women who have long hair. There needs to be floor mats by the showers,
The kitchen was well stocked with cookware. The view from the back deck was spectacular.

Wonderful home for a gathering of friends!
We visited Heavens Gate in February for 10 days, for a get together with 5 other friends with one dog, then worked remotely online from the home for the last week.
The house is setup perfectly for groups of adults (or with kids). Four bedrooms, each with their own full bathroom, plenty of room to relax, comfortable furniture and a great kitchen.
We didn't make use of the pool table or ping pong table downstairs in the garage area, as it was a little cooler in there being winter (that space is not heated), but we can see that being great fun spring thru fall. The beverage fridge downstairs is very handy.
The hot tub (just a few steps from the house) is one of the main reasons we chose this home and was where we spent most of our time outside. It's well maintained, clean and easy to access. The view from the hot tub is fantastic.
The fireplace in the lounge worked well to add a little ambience and heat. The kitchen had all the hardware we needed to cook and had both a coffee pot and a Keurig. Plenty of towels and linens were available, along with a washer and dryer that work well.
For a log home we found the house to be very quiet (no creaking every time someone moved about on any floor) and easily withstood high wind gusts and rain while we were there.
We had 1-2 bars of AT&T and VZ on our phones (T-Mobile was roaming) and the house has high speed internet which was excellent (two remote workers on meetings and streaming TV at the same time was no issue).
We had a couple of small issues while we were there but the property managers (Melissa and Nick) were helpful and responsive.
We would definitely stay at Heavens Gate again.

Family getaway
Overall the home was very nice, clean and spacious with a gorgeous setting and view. There were a couple of small issues: the oven door is broken (drops very low) and upstairs bedroom is very cold versus the rest of the home. Additional blankets would fix that.

I asked about many things prior to arriving at prperty, kerig coffee maker, christmas decor
No kerig coffee maker, no christmas decor, stink bugs everywhere, so many flew into food and drinks.
Would never stay there again.

Cycling group from FLA
We had a group of 7 adults (2 couples) the traveled from FLA to ride bicycles in the area. This is my 8th time in last 10 years to the area. Heavens gate was VERY NICE. My only issue comes primarily as a cyclist who prefers to be able to ride from the house we rent. This house is perched kind of in the middle of a pretty big ridge. So if you are cycling from the house, you will have a significant challenge either at the start of your ride or the end. By car, its not so much of an issue. House was very clean, we used the ping pong/pool/foosball gear multiple times. Kitchen was very functional and eating area for 7 adults we no problems at all. A good 25'ish minutes or so to drive to Walmart for groceries. Little Switzerland just a bit closer. Apart from our desire to be a little closer to the BRP fro cycling, this is the best property we have stayed at in 8 trips.

Summer Solstice Weekend Retreat.
Overall - wonderful! House had plenty of room for three couples to each have their own bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom is the basement has a nice firm mattress, but could use shades on the window. Towel racks are missing in a couple of the bathrooms. There is a large crack in the glass in the master bedroom too. Sadly, there was no Keurig as described, but we brought back up loose coffee just in case. We did not use the upstairs or use the gaming space in the basement.
Here's what makes the house - that view! Whether from the back deck or the hot tub. Also, easy access to a stream. You do have to drive to it, but worth checking out. We enjoyed the days hiking at Crabtree Falls and Tom's Creek Falls. Other couple in our group traveled to Asheville as well as Boone since the location is almost perfectly between the two cities. This was a very relaxing weekend for everyone!

Beautiful escape from life in the woods
Beautiful cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a stunning view from the hot tub to soak in the end of a relaxing day. The cabin had a great rustic feel with all the comforts of home in a private community which was quiet and peaceful. The cabin provided all types of entertainment from billiards, ping pong, cable TV, or sitting on the back deck looking out over the hillsides and valley as the sun set on the far ridge. The cabin is located near great hiking trails and close to a couple of towns if supplies are needed or for a meal out. Asheville is just over an hour away and offered so many options for us including multiple breweries, the Biltmore Estate, and great shops for local art and antiques. The location was perfect for us to explore in so many directions, or just relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. Highly recommend Heaven's Gate!

Great family cabin
This cabin was comfortable for our weekend getaway for 8 family members. My only disappointment was the showers. There are no shower heads in any of the bathrooms and no water pressure which leaves you to shower in an inefficient spitting mist. Otherwise, the cabin was great and clean.

Clean, comfy, spacious
Hot tub has an amazing view, so does the master bedroom. Lots of comfy blankets and cozy couches. The view from the porch was beautiful. I do wish there was a microwave and crockpot, but it all worked out in the end.

Amazing, relaxing stay!
We could not have had a better stay at Heaven’s gate. The check in process was easy and communication with the owner was great- which made planning easy. The cabin was clean and very spacious. There was enough space for 6 adults to all spread out and we loved the open concept of the kitchen and living area. The hot tub was clean and we enjoyed the fire pit. Overall, can’t say enough about this cabin. We would love to stay again!

We are frequent cabin renters around the Asheville area and had not stayed in the Spruce Pine area before. I feel it best to give this cabin a pro/con list.Pros: Beautiful view, wonderful secluded neighborhood, nice bathroom upgrades, very quiet and peaceful. New fridge which was sparkling clean.Cons: it is very obvious that the bare minimum regarding cleaning is done. There are cobwebs and dust all over the place - on the walls, the fan pulls, dust covering the decorations and lamps. I’m quite curious when the last time the floor was mopped. I wore white socks throughout our stay and every single pair is stained dark brown after washing from how filthy they were after walking on the floor (not to mention our baby was crawling all over it). We almost always stay in pet friendly rentals and this was by far the dirtiest we’ve ever stayed in. The pans were so gross we ended up going to the grocery store and buying our own to use. One of my favorite things to do on a mountain trip is relax in the hot tub - we didn’t use it once because there is so much dirt in it that we felt turning on the jets would just feel like a sand blast. (And the cover was securely on - this had to have been from dirty feet from prior guests.). All smoke alarms were taken off the walls too. Never used the grill either - the grease trap on the back was overflowing and the grease had hardened. Yuck. Washcloths have yellow stains on them as well.I understand limited time between checkout and checkin of new guests but a deep clean of mopping, dusting, getting rid of cobwebs, etc. should be done minimally once a month (most definitely more because of COVID). Instead of eliminating smoke alarms, change the batteries once every 6 months and no guests would ever have to worry about beeping AND they would be kept safe. There is also a very large crack in the master window that needs to be addressed.I took plenty of pictures should management want them. This property has potential but the lack of proper cleaning is a big issue. With all that said, we were grateful to get to bring our dogs with us and have a much needed getaway.

Summer Getaway
Our family of 5 had a great summer getaway at Heaven's gate! There was plenty of room for everyone. The house could use a little TLC- furniture is worn but we understood as it is a pet friendly property. The view from the porch and master bedroom more than made up for it! The kitchen is very well stocked. All the games throughout the house made it even better. The hot tub with that view is just the cherry on top!

Beautiful location, so peaceful
This house was beautifully located, off the beaten trail. Loved the hot tub, fire pit, and grill on the deck!! Only issue was the conflicting info sent with check in instructions. WiFi password was wrong and gate code to trash area was wrong. Also, no toaster in the kitchen. Not a big deal but slightly frustrating.

Spruce pine near little Switzerland
Easy to work w management even with my last minute booking. House is fairly well equipped but needs some TLC and furnishings could be better. Upon arrival it's obvious this is strictly a rental property. Not much in the way of decor . Hot tub was newer model and first the bill . Plenty of beds good parking good views and a great location. With a little effort and updated filurnishings could be a wonderful place and likely see more return renters. I understand being a pet friendly property can make this difficult but maybe hold renters liable? Our 20lb terrier just wants a sunny spot to nap but other animals may not be so respectful and damage furnishings. Any how over all we enjoyed our stay the cabin was nice and management was great. Neighborhood made it that much better with ponds , stream and pavillion to enjoy.

Wedding Weekend
The house was beautiful and clean. Gorgeous mountain views. The master suite was very large and luxurious. We had four groups of two and there was room for all of us to eat together and also plenty of space when we wanted to do our own thing.
