About this cottage rental
Lush Tropical Setting
COVID-10 Clearance Certification by Antigua & Barbuda Tourism
Bamboo Cottage is for nature lovers, set in a lush garden within a five minute walk to the sea. The cottage is nestled among palms and clusters of tall bamboo. Adding to the tranquillity, as the sway and rustle of these trees make music in the Caribbean breeze.
The Cottage is on two levels, the large verandah entrance leads into the open plan kitchen and living area which is well stocked, an island wth a gas range, a convection oven and microwave for cooking. Also an additional shower is located on the verandah for
your return from the beach or the pool. A spiral staircase goes up to the bedroom with an 'open plan bathroom' . Also another verandah off the bedroom which looks thru the bamboo out to sea
and the yachts in Falmouth Harbour.
Falmouth Harbour is the centre of the yachting industry in Antigua & Barbuda. This is on the southwestern side of the island and is the home of the internationally famous Classic Regatta followed by Antigua Sailing Week. Also a five minute drive to the beautiful Pidgeon Beach, Shirley Heights Lookout (Antigua's National Park) and Historic Nelson's Dockyard.
Bamboo House apartment #262413 is also available. Please see listing for details.
Bamboo Garden: The owner lives on the upper floor of Bamboo House, which is on the other side of the property from the cottage, However the property has been cleverly designed to give everyone their own access and privacy, while having the security of knowing there is someone around should you need any assistance.
The property has a very romantic and relaxed feeling and an ideal place to just sit back and enjoy, also a good base from which to do your exploring of the island.

Joanne is a wonderful host. Be sure to check with her for your transportation recommendations as she has excellent contacts.
She is very attentive without being intrusive. Good recommendations for places to eat and places to visit.
The cottage is perfectly appointed. We hated to leave.

The bamboo cottage was a perfect getaway. The lush garden with birds and lizards greeting you for morning coffee. The pool is so amazing feels like you are tucked away in your own little escape.

We had the most relaxing stay with Joanne being the perfect host, Always on hand for advice and help. The house is typically Caribbean and the garden is just gorgeous with the cottage hidden away for privacy. We loved Joanne’s menagerie of tortoises, little dog and friendly cat, and enjoyed spending hours watching the bananaquits, bullfinches and hummingbirds gather at the feeder on the verandah. The house is ideally placed for the harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, with lots of lovely places to eat and drink and watch the sunset. St. John’s is about half an hour away on somewhat dodgy roads, Recommend an SUV as the road to the house is somewhat pot holed and rocky. Would highly recommend. We hope to return.

If you have stumbled across this listing for a VRBO in Antigua, your search has just ended. Book now. My husband and I just finished five glorious nights at Bamboo Cottage. It was a little slice of heaven and exactly what the doctor ordered for two haggard educators!
I would like to say that the photos in the listing are accurate, but since the real thing is so amazing, perhaps they don't do it justice! ;) Every single day, I was staring out from the front porch or looking out from the pool and pinch myself. Was I really here? Was this real? It's that beautiful.
Joanne, the owner is absolutely wonderful. Spent wonderful time with us, going over maps, helping us to get the lay of the land. She was so kind and thoughtful and, as a bonus, whenever she was around, there were two little dogs and a cat following close behind. The animals were so friendly and loved to receive a nice pet, which I was all too happy to give!
Everything in the cottage was perfectly appointed; you will want for nothing. Book today!

Incredible stay!
Bamboo Cottage is the perfect place from which to explore Antigua! Jo is an amazing host and gave us so many brilliant recommendations. The cottage itself is everything we hoped for, set in an amazing garden and wonderful pool area. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

Beautiful Property
The house and surrounding gardens were so beautiful. Joanne even made us a platter of food and rum punch upon our arrival. She checked in every couple days to see if we needed anything but was also very respectful of our privacy. She even helped us rent a car from someone she new in town. The property also felt very safe and secure. I would highly recommended this to anyone staying the area. You do need a car to get around because it would be a little too far in the intense heat to walk into the English Harbor area with all the shops and restaurants.

The Jewel in the Crown
Our Antigua trip was planned as a two centre break - first week in a smart (and expensive) all-inclusive resort hotel on the North Coast of the island, followed by 8 days "fending for ourselves", self-catering in Bamboo Cottage, down in the "yachtie paradise" of Falmouth/English harbours. We never anticipated that the cottage would beat the resort - but it did - out of sight! When we arrived, as the delightful (Canadian) property owner Joanne was proudly showing us around, we immediately realised how privileged we were to have picked on this place - beautiful, enveloped in a substantial established tropical garden (Joanne's brainchild - many years in the making), with a glorious pool as its centrepiece, right down to the rustic, yet surprisingly comfortable and well equipped cottage. Be sure, if you come, to get Joanne to show you how to fill up the bird feeder on the verandah with sugar water - filled up before breakfast and you will have a cabaret right through to dusk from the hummingbirds and bananaquits (sugar birds). A virtual native, having settled in the area 30 years ago, Joanne, while unobtrusive, is always on hand ready to guide you with the best things to do - restaurants for fine dining (if the budget allows, book SouthPoint for dinner one night, and sit on a floating dock, in spitting distance of a billion dollars or so of super-yachts!), down to pizza or bbq joints, as well as being a mine of information about the local beaches and amenities. One thing though - you will need a car - a basic one will do, or, better still, a small SUV - some of the roads are a bit rough! And another thing, Joanne lives in the house at the other end of the garden - she lives on the upstairs floor and lets out the apartment beneath, so while, in theory, the pool is shared, we certainly didn't see anybody by the pool - and we had most of our days there, languishing in the sun, before setting off to explore the outside world. There's a lot to see - apart from Nelson's Dockyard (don't miss the Seafood Friday BBQ), there's Shirley Heights, The Green Corridor, the gorgeous white sandy beaches and deep blue sea of the West Coast, Jolly Harbour etc etc
Thank you Joanne, for letting us sample your magical bit of the Caribbean - we'll be back!

Paradise!
Thank you Joanne for your wonderful hospitality during our 1 week stay at bamboo cottage. We had a great time, just wishing we could have stayed longer!!
The cottage itself has everything you need - a kitchen to cook your own meals in if this is what you like doing. We cooked a couple of meals and sat out on the veranda in the evening which was lovely.
The pool area surrounded in Joanne’s beautiful gardens is wonderful and just what you need at the end of the day.
We hired a car out and drove all round the island! There is a parking spot at the cottage. We drove to English harbour which takes 5 mins! Pigeon beach and nelsons dockyard are 10 mins drive away. Shirley heights 15 mins.
You will not regret your stay here. It’s beautiful! We definitely want to come back and stay here .. but for 2 weeks or more this time!

It was our first trip to Antigua. We very much enjoyed the island. The people are friendly, the beaches are beautiful and Uncrowded, the scenery is lovely. our stay at Bamboo cottage could not have been better. The wide porch is perfect for breakfast while watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. The kitchen has everything you need and there is a gas grill if you are so inclined. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage is charming. The garden surrounding is lush and beautiful and although the pool is shared, we were the only ones to use it during our stay. The owner Joanne was extremely helpful and friendly. You are very close to English harbor with plenty of restaurants. Our linens and towels were changed halfway into our one week stay which is really over and above and very much appreciated. Highly recommend. You can’t go wrong staying here.

A fabulous property located within a local setting, but close to English Harbour and Falmouth. Delightful gardens, fabulous pool, sheltered verandah. A lovely spot to spend time on Antigua.

Very Relaxing, beautiful, convenient property
We stayed in the Bamboo cottage the last week in February. It exceeded our expectations. It is a fantastic cottage. The garden setting has a very tranquil and private vibe. You do share the pool with her 1 other accommodation, but we hardly ever noticed the British couple staying there. Very convenient to all the Falmouth and English harbor areas. 5 minute drive to the Yacht Club area. Also just a 30 minute drive to the east and west coast beaches. Cottage has all the amenities you need. The owner is great. My wife and I are Americans and have “never met strangers” so visiting with her daily was great, but I’m sure you’ll never see her if you wish to be left alone. She’s lived there for 30 years so knows what’s happening in the local scene. She also makes a great hummus dip and rum punch. If you visit Antigua the southern end is the place to make your base. To us the Northern end offered nothing of interest. I said it is Quiet. We have been to numerous Caribbean islands and the Bamboo Cottage is the quietest we have stayed in. This does not mean that the ever present dogs and chickens aren’t around though. If you’re in the no tolerance range for this stuff, stay in a resort. All in all it was the most relaxing vacation my wife and I have ever had in 35 years of traveling. We never left 1 day except for dinner. Book It Now😎🌴👍

We loved Bamboo Cottage
My husband and I absolutely adored Bamboo Cottage. Joanne was such a warm and welcoming host! The minute we arrived Jo had rum punch and a platter of snacks waiting for us. The house was clean, charming, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The garden is absolutely breath taking!! We loved learning about the garden and Antigua, and hearing advice from a local on the best spots to visit around the island. We spent our mornings exploring, and came back to the garden after lunch to lounge around the pool. The house is in a great location. It was so easy to get to English Harbor, restaurants, and grocery stores within that area of the island. There are also some great restaurants that were walking distance of the cottage. We had such a great time, and can't wait to come back!

Heaven!
We leave this beautiful house "Bamboo Cottage" and its magical gardens tonight. This is a proper house with all the home comforts of home, such a lovely house and garden to relax in and a super swimming pool surrounded by palm and bamboo trees. There is also an abundance of wild life, from birds, tree frogs, (which I heard, but never saw) as well as lizards etc. (don't worry, none of these can get into the house). I would 100% recommend the bamboo Cottage. Joanne the Canadian owner is charming and such a friendly lady always here at hand with advice and suggestions on places to visit and eat. we will definitely return to this magical house and garden. It is also located in the English Harbour area. 40 minute walk/5 minute drive. without any doubt the best area on the island. we will be sad to leave this place tonight, it really did become part of us. a home from home in the sunshine! 10/10 from us!

Utterly Delightful
The cottage is charming, and the bed very comfortable. A nearly constant breeze is a bonus while sitting on the veranda. The shower (open - though netted against mosquitos) is heavenly, with a rainfall-type shower head. The highlights of the place must be the garden, which is gorgeous, and the sparkling pool, which has some welcome shade nearly all day and is very difficult to stay out of!. Nearby supermarkets, and a short drive to Falmouth Harbour and Pigeon Beach, are pluses.
Joanne is the most welcoming, charming and helpful host, and all in all this is one of the nicest, most relaxing, places to stay on any Caribbean island (and we've visited a fair few). Highly recommended.

A little piece of heaven.
Tranquil and Relaxing best describes my stay at Bamboo Cottage. I enjoyed every moment from waking with the birds in the morning watching them feed while enjoying my morning coffee, reading in the hammock swaying along with the palms to a refreshing dip in the pool, exploring the island and then listening to the tree frogs in the evening enjoying a glass of wine under the stars. As I said we enjoyed every moment. Thank you Joanne, our time there was perfect once again.
We look forward to our return next year.

Tranquil and tropical, in true Caribbean style
The property is in a fantastic location and an ideal base for exploring the island.
Set amongst beautiful tropical gardens with its own pool it offers a luxury, rustic style accommodation with all mod cons, iron/board, coffee maker, towels including beach towels and even a cool box and snorkelling gear to use. Joanne really has thought of everything and is the perfect host.
She’s is always on hand if you need her and is full of useful information and tips. She made us several reservations at restaurants and booked day trips for us on request whilst maintaining our privacy at all times.
We somehow managed to leave a phone behind and Joanne went out of her way to return it to us, she even drove to the other side of the island to deliver it to the courier to ensure it’s safe return.
We highly recommend Bamboo cottage and Joanne and can’t wait to return.
Some of our highlights include feeding the resident tortoises, watching the beautiful birds in the garden and Joanne’s lovely dogs Max and Rosie.
Thanks for everything Joanne, we miss you guys and can’t wait to return!

Beautiful garden property
As others have said, this is a serene and tranquil location. The welcome platter and rum punch was a perfect entree to the island. We rented a car from D and cannot thank him enough for his hospitality. Bamboo Cottage is well-appointed and Joanne is lovely and helpful. We snorkeled at Galleon Bay and had a great time overall! Enjoy Antigua!

Definition of wonderful
My fiance and I enjoyed every moment of our stay at Joanne's bamboo cottage. The cottage is better and even more beautiful than the pictures and quite spacious. It is tastefully decorated, impeccably clean and has such a warm energy to it, that it felt like home in a matter of hours. It was an absolute pleasure to have my breakfast every morning on the porch watching the hummingbirds flock to the feeder in the warm sunlight. There is a STUNNING beach about a 4-5 minute drive from the cottage and plenty of places for food, including a supermarket nearby if you wish to make your own meals. Joanne is a phenomenal host. She is so friendly and hospitable, and we had our privacy at the same time. Upon arrival she had an amazing tray of veggies, cheese, pita an homemade hummus waiting for us, a bottle of wine and some beer and water. Do listen to her recommendations for dinner and things to do. I also must include her furry companions, Max and Rosie. They were sweet and darling, just like their owner. We miss it already and its only been a couple of weeks. Looking forward to a return visit. Thanks again Joanne!!! <3

Gorgeous Lush Bungalow!
This is by far the coolest rental I have stayed in. From the time we arrived at the heart cutout on the front gate to saying goodbye to the puppies and hummingbirds, we were in love! Joanne was a gracious host and even had rum punch waiting for us when we arrived (which was necessary after the snowy travel we endured earlier that day). She helped us get a rental car which i would absolutely recommend and navigated us around Antigua's best spots! We cant wait to come back <3.

Sublime Accommodations
Bamboo Cottage is top-notch in every way. The well laid-out cottage and amenities make you feel at home right away. The wonderful breeze and swaying bamboos and palms are restorative. The peaceful garden and the varieties of hummingbirds, bananaqit and other birds will keep you delighted right from your own porch. The pool is well set amongst shade trees and a very generous size. And so refreshing on hot day! It's truly hard to leave the Cottage to go exploring beyond. Thank you Joanne for creating such a peaceful oasis and for all the knowledge and tips you shared with us to make our trip so enjoyable. We would return in a heartbeat!

Magical Vacation
We were surrounded by the most gorgeous garden, absolute heaven. Bamboo Cottage is cozy, beautiful, tropical and private. Falmouth is a great area to base yourself, a quiet local family neighbourhood in walking distance to the sea, Bailey's supermarket, Crab Hole store, Ice cream parlour, bakery with fresh bread & croissants and a few restaurants. When not at the beach relaxing by the pool lined with a variety of exquisite palms or at night with a glass of wine by the pool with lighting highlighting the palms and the chirping of tree frogs in the back ground. We absolutely loved our stay in this hidden treasure and will definitely be back. Joanne thank you for sharing your amazing home and your great hospitality. We look forward to returning!

Very comfortable and cosy.
Bamboo Cottage was lovely, set in gorgeous gardens and located conveniently for local supermarkets and bars and restaurants. Nicer than a studio, with 2 floors separating bedroom from living area. Joanne is lovely and welcoming, and provided a huge platter of cheese, biscuits, fruit, home-made hummous and pitta upon arrival which was a perfect meal after long flight and until we got to shop for provisions. Would heartily recommend, together with her attractive 2-bed apartment in the same garden-setting.
