About this apartment rental
Welcome to our ski home perched on the side of Mammoth Mountain at over 8,000 feet with panoramic views of the town and the entire Owens Valley. Experience the magic of Mammoth Mountain, California's premier ski resort featuring world class down hill skiing with a 3,000 foot vertical drop. High speed Quads minimize lift line ups, and with over 50 ski runs there is variety for novice, beginner, intermediate, and expert alike. Gather the family and friends and join us for a fun filled ski vacation that will linger in your memories.
Leave your car safely in the garage, away from parking and traffic congestion in the village. From our front door, a few steps will bring you to the ski trail. Hop on your skis and traverse a well groomed trail to the bunny slope of Canyon Lodge. Ski down and hop on the chair and you are on your way to the first run of the day. At lunch time, head back to the condo via Chickadee and a private trail. Take off your boots, enjoy lunch, relax, and perhaps a short nap. Or enjoy a lunch break at one of the restaurants on Mammoth Mountain.
At days end, ski back to the condo, and head down to the Jacuzzi and sauna to relax those tired muscles and recap those exciting runs that you mastered so well. If there was an occasional fall or mishap, we can understand this "omission" from the conversation. Later at the condo, continue "apres ski" with a glass of wine or cocktail. And as the plaque above the dining table states "THE WEIN KELLAR IS OPEN - EVERYDAY"'. Meals prepared in Irene's newly expanded kitchen are guaranteed to satisfy the most demanding and heartiest appetites and extend the family budget as well. After dinner, enjoy coffee, more conversation, TV, or a movie in front of the crackling wood stove. A full and satisfying day!
After a day of skiing and "apres ski", sleep with come early to many. Our guests enjoy three comfortable queen beds, each on a separate level. Expanded loft/bedroom one is on level two, with a wall mounted TV is open, bright and cheery. Next on level three, is a large bed/sitting room with a queen bed, wall TV, and views of the Sherwin Bowl and National Forest. From level three, the perimeter stairway takes you to level four, to the "sky watcher" loft/bedroom with a queen size bed, and is open, bright and private. Young and old alike, enjoy the sweeping panoramic views of the Valley. The master bathroom, (level three) has a deep soaking tub and separate shower. The downstairs facility, a powder room, and separate shower.
For those seeking a day off from down hill skiing, there is superb cross country skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing in the back country, to name a few. Or when the weatherman says "stay inside" enjoy the ambiance of the living room, TV, a quiet read, in front of a crackling fire.
For the cooks night off there are a plethora of restaurants, ranging from (Angels) and more upscale such as Nevados, Tamarack Lodge plus restaurants in the village and at Mammoth Mountain Inn. The Stove restaurant, is known for hearty skiers breakfasts and dinners. And a visit to Schat's Bakery to enjoy custom sandwiches, pastries, confections or 'sweets', is a must.
We enjoy all the conveniences, comforts and amenities of home, at our home in the mountains and do not expect our guests to accept less.
Good Skiing, and Bon Apetit!

This is a great place to stay, and Irene is super helpful and responsive. Conveniently located near Canyon Base lodge - about a 5-10 minute drive. You can also walk up the street (walk shorter than a soccer field), put on your skis, and ski down either the Blue Jay (Black) or Antin Alley/Chickadee (Blue) runs to get to chair 8 or 16. The condo has a fully stocked kitchen, which had everything we needed to cook meals at home. The wood burning stove keeps it warm and cozy, and wood is provided. Beds are comfy and linens are soft and good quality. One bed is in the master bedroom (king size and plenty of space, the second is on a landing with no doors (we didn't need this space), and the third is upstairs in its own space (no door, but private). Showers had great water pressure, and there was plenty of hot water for all. The garage is small, but our Honda HRV fit without any problem. It snowed about 10 inches overnight, and the complex had the road plowed by 8 am. We love Mammoth and the condo and recommend staying here.

The home was perfect for our long weekend getaway. Short hike to the run and easy to get home to after a long day on the mountain. Cozy home. Thanks again.

Loved the house, but it is not really ski out, unless you want to hike uphill to a black run.

We had a great stay! Wonderful location- can ski in/ out. Kitchen stocked and had everything we needed! Irene is a wonderful host. We had a couple questions and she answered right away and was so pleasant to work with!

We had a great visit. The condo is in a beautiful, central location but you will need to be in good shape if you plan to walk anywhere as it is uphill from everything. Our electric bikes were nice for getting around.
The kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked most meals in and enjoyed the views from the dining room table.

We stayed during spring break during the snowiest year on record. From the beginning, Irene was super informative & helped us plan ahead. It was the ultimate luxury to eat breakfast at the condo, walk up the road & ski down to lift 8 in the morning. Then, at the end of a great day of skiing, we would just ski right back to the end of the building. Unheard of!!!! The kitchen was loaded with anything you needed. The water was piping hot. There were tons of extra blankets to snuggle under. We are driving home now & we are all semi-crying because we do not want to leave. One of the best ski vacations EVER!!! Thank you, Irene!!!

Irene made the visit seamless. We were in constant communication with her due to the weather and the surrounding home situations. We happen to be there during the epic snow accumulation.
Not only was Irene helpful but the surrounding neighbors were helpful to me and other guest in the complex.
I would definitely stay there again.

Had a great stay! Loved the gorgeous view, the well-appointed kitchen, fireplace, and the nearby hot tub. Was ski-in/ski-out for advanced skiers, hike-in/ski-out for intermediate skiers. The insane snowfall this year necessitated SUV/snow tires/chains to access the property; however once we got there it was so cozy! Very comfortable beds. Great living space. Only sorry that the storms limited our stay there by a night on either end… would love to have stayed longer!! Great space and a great spot! Avoid Davidson Rd if possible and go via the Bridges (private connection to the complex if plowed/open - much safer drive!). Would definitely recommend and definitely stay again!

The property was extremely clean, cozy and the kitchen was stocked wonderfully. It was warm and the fireplace was a nice addition. The owners must spent a substantial amount of time there and it felt like everything was considered that is needed for cooking, baking etc… The living room was very comfortable and felt like home.
The property can definitely be considered ski-in and the walk between the end of the skil trail and the house is 150 ft or less. „ski out“ is a pretty far stretch and requires a bit of a hike in full ski gear.
We would recommend the place to be used by one single family only as there is little opportunity for privacy. Everyone can hear everything in the house (literally every cough, sneeze, conversation, toilet flush, walking down the stairs) even in the only bedroom when doors are closed. The bed in both loft bedrooms are broken, the broken frames can easily be seen when walking up the stairs, and they make a lot of noise when just turning from one side to another when laying in the bed. Maybe ideal for a couple that doesn’t mind the price, or a family only, but definitely not for mixed groups (with kids particularly).
Irene and Jack were quick to respond and communication was easy. It’s amongst the highest up location in the area for lodging. Until about 1-2 before our stay it was impossible to access. As such the ice in front of the entire complex was pretty dangerous (our neighbors had some serious falls and injuries), we were fortunately spared. However the complex (or the owners) needs to do a better job in removing lengthy ice stretches right in front of the entire house, as the liability is pretty high. There was no (literally no) non-ice possibility to enter the house.
In summary we felt that the property had some really nice features, but we are not sure if the price/value ratio is justified.

Great ski-in/ski-out VRBO house with wonderful views, well-stocked kitchen, and plenty of space for our family of 5 (it can easily accommodate more). Highly recommend for a perfect ski vacation.

The property is perfect for a group of up to six. The individual sleeping levels works well!
Although we stayed during the epic snow fall leading to the closure of the mountain, Irene was consistently available to help us navigate the unexpected limits.
We hope to come back again in the future.

3 adults and 2 kids comfortably stayed in this well-appointed condo. We were able to walk up the hill about 75-100 yards each morning to catch the run down to Canyon. The garage is tight, we luckily had one vehicle that fit. The hosts were easy to reach.

Jack and Irene were great hosts. The location is lovely, the space is nice, and they were accommodating when a large snowstorm left us stranded for an extra day.

Host Irene was immediately available by phone and helped us with directions when Google maps routed us the wrong way.
The place is beautiful, clean, well stocked, and very much as described. We were able to fit our SUV in the attached garage but took some work. The views from the place are amazing, and we can't wait to go back in winter when everything will be covered in snow.

Family Ski Trip
Overall we had a great time at Timber Ridge. The condo had everything we needed, including an extremely well stocked kitchen. The only negative was that the "ski in/ski out" was a little bit too difficult for a couple of the beginner skiers in our group. There was a short walk (~100 yards) to a black hill, and then an option to walk another 100 yards or so to a blue hill. Unfortunately both were a little too steep for real beginners. Otherwise we were very happy, and everything was as described. Communication was great as well.

We didn't want to leave!
Just a wonderful spot with ample room for this dad and his two teenagers. The condo itself is nothing fancy - but it sure is cozy, with wonderful views from the living room, the dining area, and the upstairs bedroom.
Thankfully the weather warmed up so the roads were easy to navigate. The garage wasn't big enough for our car but served instead as our "mud room" for skis, boots, and poles.
Best of all for me was proximity to the slopes. Put on your boots and carry your skis & poles about 100 yards, then ski down Bluejay to the Canyon Lodge. Bluejay is listed as a black diamond, but it's really more intermediate (no moguls). If you're really beginner you can walk another 100 yards to Chickadee. Returning was even better; with snow on the driveway, I was able to ski to our unit's garage.
Bottom line: This was my first time back at Mammoth in over 20 years. I see no need to experiment with other rental options; if this unit is available for my next trip, I will surely book it.
PS Many Thanks to the owners especially Irene who always responded quickly to my probably-too-frequent text questions.

Not really ski-in and ski-out.
Perfect for our Super Bowl ski weekend. We really enjoyed ourselves but this shouldn’t be described as ski in and ski out.

Great location, beautiful views
4 of us stayed at this place and loved it overall. One of the best things about it was the ski in/ski out situation. Also beautiful views of Mammoth Mountain. Our only issue was that it seemed on the listing to have 2 bedrooms and 1 loft, but it was really 1 bedroom (a large master) and 2 loft-like rooms (as in no door and low ceiling). Had a spacious kitchen and living room. 1 car garage with other parking lot. Irene was super helpful and responsive as a host. Had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend!

Perfect place with a view
This is place perfect. Great location and the views are wonderful. Definitely a place to come back and enjoy. Owners were easy to get and contact and responded quickly.

We really enjoyed our time at Timber Ridge. Easy access to the slopes from the unit (just a short walk up the paved/plowed driveway). Parking is a bit of a farther walk but manageable. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you would need for cooking and baking. We even used the BBQ on the deck (yes, it was below freezing outside). My only negative review is that although this property sleeps six, there is really only one bedroom. The other two "rooms" are lofts with no privacy and very little head room. Watch your head! But the views out the windows are spectacular!

Great ski in ski out
We loved this condo for the location and being able to ski in and ski out without having to hop in the car. Also, beautiful views all around being an end unit condo. While we give it an overall 5/5 there are some minor things that we suggest: our van did not fit in the garage as there is a closet that makes it so only mid sized SUV’s can fit so we had to park down the hill. There was also very limited parking down hill that requires a parking pass so late at night we had to dig out a parking spot in the snow (luckily the garage had some shovels). We arrived and there were no parking passes but the owner quickly replied to my text and promptly got them to us in the morning. Wonderfully stocked kitchen and plenty of extra blankets for those chilly nights. The hot tub was open but the pool and sauna were both locked and closed. Overall we would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

Skiing Bliss
Gorgeous views at every meal. Loved skiing in for lunch, and end of day. We are parents and four (mostly adult) children-all big thumbs up. Super stocked kitchen, and stylish, comfy cozy living room with awesome wood stove. No "tripping over each other". Spacious master. The two "loft" areas are semi-private, so adult couples might feel crimped, but for a family, this condo is awesome fun-very well worth the price. Irene is "on-it" communicator.

We had a very comfortable stay at Jack and Irene's condo. The property is well situated for accessing Old Mammoth, trails and ski areas. The living, dining and kitchen area are meant for entertaining. The master bedroom was spacious and the bed "just right."I would have given Irene more than 5 stars for communication. Due to the fires in the area, it was necessary for us to be in touch more than normal. Irene went out of her way to accommodate our needs. We look forward to returning in future years.
