My family stayed for week in this luxurious 3 bedroom condo. It was exactly as described and pictured on VRBO. Check in was smooth and all our questions answered immediately. The condo was very well appointed with anything you could possibly need. There were even games and beach toys for children. It was also impeccably clean and all the beds and furniture were very comfortable. The location could not be better. It is right on the beach and just one block away from the main street. Tons of restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance. Also, the pool is the best I have ever seen. It has many levels so even little ones can enjoy it. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We look forward to staying here again!

The condo was just as described. Great location for family get away. Even though it was difficult to communicate with the property owner, the property management team was amazing and quick to help with any questions. I highly recommend this location.

We felt this place should have been cleaner and better maintained for the class of rental that it is. House keeping was non existent throughout our week stay and was definitely not spotless when we showed up.

Very clean and spacious condo conveniently located near everything!! We stayed almost 2 weeks without a car. 5th Avenue is only a 2 minute walk and Walmart is only 10. We loved the condo's interior and the sea view is even better than pictured. Two things requiring interior improvement: bed mattresses are extremely firm (we purchased egg crate type mattress topper foam from Walmart and left them behind upon departure), and the bedrooms' Cuby smart thermostat systems would not detect a person sleeping at night. They would shut off the A/C units to conserve electricity which made for uncomfortably warm sleeping. The condo property's exterior was very well kept and beautiful except the beach front. We were shocked to arrive and find that the beach side of the El Faro property was destroyed in early December by a storm. The wooden beach decking and the showers on the infinity side of the pool were no longer useful and caution taped off. There is no useful beach in front of El Faro except for a narrow path for pedestrians to pass along the shore side of the property. We did use the sand beach three properties south of El Faro at the Aloha Paddleboard Club. The El Faro staff is top notch. Everyone was very nice and super helpful from the front desk managers, porters, security, maintenance, and housekeeping. To summarize, we made a couple of small adjustments and had the best vacation our family has ever had at El Faro in Playa Del Carmen in comparison to 6 other Mexican vacations.

We’ve stayed at ElFaro several times in various units and enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, this stay wasn’t very smooth at all. The listing and photos were inaccurate. The listing showed and described all sleeping areas as having televisions, only 2 TV’s in the entire unit- living area and master bedroom. Unit has cable service but was out for first 2 nights, manager restored service. When I asked about it, owner/manager said people bring their own devices and use the internet for streaming so no need to replace broken TV’s. However, the WiFi isn’t strong enough to work upstairs regularly to stream. We didn’t receive any check-in instructions so we had trouble contacting anyone for a door code and parking info (owner blamed manager for oversight). The balcony furniture did not have any cushions and was uncomfortable although the manager brought some on day 2 of the stay. For the money paid, the value was not great. Cleanliness was adequate but the bathrooms had lots of black hair and hard water build up on the glass and fixtures.
Overall not a great stay but we always love visiting Playa area.

This was an overall excellent stay. The view alone is breathtaking! We had a few issues with things not working and the air was out for a (which was a bit frustrating with the temps in Mexico) but all issues were QUICKLY resolved. Maintenance and housekeeping were very friendly as well as those at the front. The property manager quickly responded to all inquiries. I'd definitely recommend this property and would stay again. Everyone was pleased. Plenty of space. Pool was awesome, beach is a 1 minute walk and 5th street is not even a couple of minutes away although most reviews say 5 minutes, it's much closer! Book the stay!

We couldn't have asked for a more convenient location for our stay in Playa del Carmen: steps from 5th Avenue, amazing restaurants, and shopping and a short walk to the Cozumel ferry. There are many convenience stores nearby as well, and Wal-Mart is a 10 minute walk for items you may have forgotten (as we did). The condo itself is amazing! The air conditioning was a BLESSING for those hot, humid days, the pool was just wonderful, and there is plenty of room for a family to have their own space. It is also just steps from the beach. We would stay here again!

We came with our 5 kids ages 14-28 and had an amazing time! We stayed in a 2 bedroom last year with two kids at El Faro, and couldn’t wait to return with all of our kids and rent a 3 bedroom, and this condo did not disappoint. Any issues we had were fixed right away by the property manager. He was very responsive and helpful. Last year in September, there was so much seaweed we couldn’t get in the ocean, but this time there was very little seaweed so we really enjoyed the warm ocean. So I’m not sure if there are “seaweed seasons?” I’d sure like to know to avoid in the future! The pool was awesome, and the kids loved it. The walking mall behind El Faro is loud and bustling, and we could hear some noise, but with the AC units on, we slept just fine. The patio was the best part as we sat outside and ate family meals and took in the stellar ocean views. We’ll be back!

We have stayed at El Faro in the past so decided to stay again. This unit was great. Had all the amenities we needed! The pool was very nice and the pool side massages were FANTASTIC! We really liked the location as well. The beach condos are all very near 5th avenue but some are in better spots than others…El Faro is right in the middle so it is easy to get to both ends! Overall this was a nice spot for us. The location was perfect to walk to many restaurants. The noise from the streets at night bothered us on the balcony but did not bother us inside the condo. The pool was great, nice and big. There was a spot in the pool that was about 1.5 ft deep that was perfect for our kids (4&2). The beach was perfect. Our favorite spot to go have breakfast or lunch was right next door in the beach - C grille at the Thompson Hotel. There were a lot of beach and pools toys for us to use which was really nice.
The actual condo was nice and what we expected, however there were some things that made our stay less than optimal. The bathroom on the first floor had a very foul odor - in the morning it was unbearable. There was a similar smell coming from the kitchen sink in the morning. The other issue is the railing in the loft overlooking the living room had some bars that were broken. This was an obvious safety issue and even more so with our young children. The key pad to get into the condo was difficult to use and locked us out several times.
After our stay we got blamed for breaking a lamp which we 100% did not break which was pretty frustrating and annoying.

Great location, on the beach, 1/2 block off of the strip, and very spacious. Everything was very nice and as described. The master bedroom has a very firm mattress (firmer than I prefer but I’m always looking for this information in reviews). There were a few little things like dirty dishes in the dishwasher that hadn’t been taken care of (on the top shelf) and if you leave any dishes out without being washed you will have ants and fruit flies very quickly and no dish cloths or dishwasher detergent. Other than that the place is definitely a great place and felt very safe with amazing views!

Concierge Eber was quick to respond to any needs we had. Location of property was excellent. Short walk to shops restaurants. We had plumbing issues with the master bathroom and there was a smell of sewage in the room for most of the nights staying there. We did let Maintenance know and someone came to attempt to fix the issue however the smell didn’t go away. Beautiful views.

This was our 2nd time staying at El Faro. The property is nice and the staff is friendly. We had no issues with the property manager and they checked on us before the hurricane to see if we needed anything extra. After the hurricane everything was opened back up within hrs and the property was immaculate again. We would definitely rent again when when come back yearly to PDC.

The rental process was very smooth, both the owner and the manager were quick to answer all our questions. The location was very close to everything we chose to do in Playa del Carmen including the ferry to Cozumel. The local Walmart was a short walk away and the main 5th Ave. is about a block away. Overall highly recommend El Faro.

The property itself was very clean, very spacious, very well stocked with beach items, kitchen items, etc... The pool was amazing, but beware, they only put out so many chairs, people were eventually laying on beach towels on the hot pavement. We had a little concern with check in. Online it says info on how to check in would be given a few days prior, but even as we landed on our second leg of the flight to get down there, we still hadn’t heard anything. I messaged both the owner and, I’m assuming, the property manager. I did end up hearing back from someone telling us that we just go to the front desk and they take care of it from there. Which they did! And they were nothing but helpful from then on... needed a new jug for our water cooler (a nice perk to have in the unit) and they were quick to replace it. We couldn’t turn the knob on the propane tank of the gas grill (was rusted shut) they quickly replaced it and we were able to grill out that evening. As for the location of the property, PERFECT! We could walk everywhere! It was right by the main drag of shops, restaurants, night clubs... yet we were never disturbed by any noise while at the condo. I’d highly recommend this listing!

We come to Playa del Carmen every year and prefer to stay at El Faro. The location is perfect for everything: beach, night life, dining... We have stayed at some nice condos so far but this one beats them all. It really is spectacular: very spacious, clean and the view is breathtaking! We had some minor problems / questions in the beginning and they were all resolved very quickly. Their management company is efficient and available. We did not have a phone that worked in Mexico, so the front desk contacted management company for us; it was that easy. The condo is also very quiet which was my concern since I don't like noise at night. The pool is very nice. We also feel safe on the beach because security guards are right there. Beach chairs, umbrellas - everything is available.
We love to eat at Zenzi restaurant next door. The food is amazing and it is so convenient: get out of the water, go eat lunch and jump right back in the water. We also discovered a great Italian restaurant this time: Romeo. It is located on the 4th street between 10th and 15th avenue. The salads, pasta, pizza - to die for! We visited it 3 times in a week and would happily go again!

We stayed in this lovely condo April 2014 and had a wonderful time. We were three couples and 2 small children and had ample space and privacy. The unit is huge, modern and beautiful, the El Faro complex was safe and well staffed. We had called the propery manager for a minor problem and they handled it quickly and efficiently. The cleaning staff did a great job. El Faro is ideally situated and perfect for our needs. We cannot wait to return! Thank you Lorelei!

My family and I rented this condo for Christmas week. The condo is beautiful, and I agree with the previous posts that the pictures do not do it justice. The location could not be more central with 5th Ave. only one block away and the pool is basically on the beach. We had 6 adults and twin 2 year-olds and never felt like we did not have enough space. The pool is fantastic, especially the kiddie pool area which is where the twins spent a majority of their outside time. Food was abundant, with Wicky's being our main lunch spot most days. Having Wal-Mart a quick 10 minute walk away was a definite plus for a family with little children. Being from NYC we were hesitant to rent something outside one of the main large resorts, but we would highly recommend this condo for other families looking for something nice and easy.

This penthouse is even better than the pictures! The view is amazing! The owner was very easy to work with and they have done an excellent job of stocking the condo with everything you would need. The front desk and concierge workers were very nice and accommodating. The location could not have been better! It is a block from right in the middle of 5th Avenue. It was so easy to walk everywhere. It also has a great beachfront and by far the best pool we saw. Our only disappointment was with the on-site restaurant, Wicky's. The food and service was great but they were out of some items, and unfortunately the nightlife at Wicky's is non-existent. However, the restaurant next door, Zenzi, more than makes up for it. They have awesome martinis! There are two items of very low importance to note: the condo no longer has a hot tub on the balcony and there is no bath tub in any of the bathrooms. I had several questions for the owner pre-trip and she was completely honest with her answers and also provided great information on restaurants. We can't wait to return to Playa and El Faro Coral 302!
