About this house rental
Brick dependency built circa 1853 on the grounds of Lansdowne, a former country estate which became a cotton plantation in the 1870s until 1960, three miles from downtown Natchez. The main house retains its original furnishings as well as furnishings from other antebellum Natchez homes such as Longwood, the Towers and the Shields Town House.
The guest rooms were originally a billiard room and office and a governess’s room and school room. The Billiard room is now a spacious bedroom with comfortable seating area, furnished with a queen sized four poster bed, a large single day bed and an armoire with mirror, plus remote-controlled heating, cooling and celling fans, and Wi-Fi plus TV with Netflix, Amazon, Starz and more. Adjoining the bedroom is a full kitchen and dining area fully stocked with pots, pans, glasses, tableware and serving dishes. The updated bath has a large tiled walk in shower and plenty of closet space. Your view from the covered brick gallery encompasses a beautiful green lawn with stately oaks, pines and magnolias, and azaleas, camellias and roses.
Guest access
Guests have access to the much of the 120-acre property. You can stroll through gardens in the 10-acre yard, relax in a hammock, fish in the pond, or walk through the woods and fields where you’ll see herons, owls, wood ducks, pileated woodpeckers and occasionally foxes and wild turkey.
Interaction with guests
One of the current owners, a descendant of the original builders of Lansdowne, lives in the main house and will welcome you into the great hall for a tour of the house.

Perfect Stay
This was the perfect stay for our little family. The property gave us fun things to do all day — we explored as much as we could. It was so peaceful & the landscape was beautiful. All of the animals were so sweet (horses & cats). And we loved the tour of the home.
We will certainly miss this hide away. It was a great time.

There were so many different fragrances coming from the many beautiful flowers. My favorite were the Angel Trumpets. The bed was awesome. Very comfortable. Beautiful property providing a glimpse into the past
We arrived at Marsha’s beautiful property just prior to Hurricane Delta not knowing what to expect! We could not have received a warmer welcome from Marsha, our gracious and kind host, who provided much reassurance and a very comfortable and tranquil stay despite the wild weather! The property and grounds have so much to offer in terms of scenery to explore, peacefulness and history. Our entire family enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The highlights for our kids were the horses and friendly pets, along with a visit to a very special play house. Us parents enjoyed the space within the Billiard Room, including great kitchen facilities, the fascinating tour of the main residence and beautiful walks around the property. We hope to visit again soon. Thanks for a wonderful stay Marsha.

Beautiful and historic property near Natchez
This absolutely charming and tasteful rental is furnished with antiques and located on a gorgeous historic property with lovely grounds. We were very comfortable during our 2-night stay in a private apartment. We also enjoyed a wonderful tour with a descendant of the original owners. Pure magic!

Beautiful place, very friendly owners
We had a lovely stay! It's a really beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished room, has everything you need and more (the owners were so sweet to bring us homemade jam and home-grown apples), and the property is absolutely lovely. The kids enjoyed feeding the horses, climbing the trees and exploring the woods around the property. Great place for families, and with such warm and welcoming hosts, we'll definitely come back!

The Glories of Lansdowne
Rarely have I enjoyed a setting and hospitality as I did last Sunday evening. Marsha is so welcoming, charming, insightful. She makes her home my favorite place in all of Natchez.

Like staying with family...
My daughter and I recently stayed at Lansdowne and wish we could go back this weekend. Everything about our stay was amazing and like a fairy tale. Marsha was an incredible host who made us feel like family and also brought my daughter's birthday wishes to life. She allowed my daughter "to play dress-up" and model some of the Southern Belle Fashions. We followed her helpful advice on some great food choices and shopping places in town. My favorite part was resting on the porch and visiting. Everything about our stay was comfy and cozy... looking forward to our return visit!

Unforgettable. No other place could possibly compare...
I stayed here for a business trip (extended stay) and ended up choosing this property due to the owners kindness and willingness to work with my difficult scheduling. Marsha is her name, and she is a unique, intriguing, kind person that gives just the right amount of attention to your stay, as not to be a bother, but always available. Marsha is full of interesting knowledge of the historic local area... not to mention this gorgeous property she lives on.
The property is off the main road, and away from most road noise. There is a neighborhood (not visible through the forestry) at the rear of the property where an occasional hot-rod can be heard...but other than that, the setting of Lansdowne is secluded, and old-world like, as the property is maintained in an authentic/traditionalist manner...which really adds to that "get away from it all" mentality. The main house is still open for tours during tourist seasons, and is where the owner resides....This is not where you will be staying. But never fear...privacy abounds in the 2 separate "dependency" buildings that are in the rear of the main house, with a beautiful, all-original bricked patio courtyard at the center of the 3 structures. The property is beautifully landscaped with all the wonderful trees, mosses and flowers most of us have only seen on tv shows that are set in the south. There is plenty of land to walk or hike, and is tastefully maintained. There is a neighboring horse lot with approx 3-4 horses that are a pleasant sight to see.
The structures are all traditionally updated with modern amenities without taking away its "roots". Original woodwork and time-appropriate furnishings are used throughout all structures, and does a good job at keeping you in the welcomed "time-warp".
I can't say enough about Marsha and her gorgeous property. After taking a few tours during my stay in the area, I'd have to say this has got to be in the top 5 of Natchez's best-kept-secrets. I will never forget the time I spent there, and no doubt will I ever stay anywhere else if I am in the area. Thank you Marsha for memories of a lifetime.

This rental was amazing!
My college student daughter and I stayed in this newly renovated guest house and felt like royalty. In fact my daughter wants to have the estate as her wedding venue one day. Marsha gave us a wonderful guided tour of the entire historical estate. She also loaned us her folding chairs so we could attend the Great Balloon Race Festival. This place was super private and very quiet. We highly recommend this property! We will come again.
