We cannot wait to return again for our 8th summer! Counting the days. Thank you for another summer of memories!

the home was perfect plenty of room for 7 guys, clean and comfortable. the view was great

The house was fine but the location is problematic because the beach access was nonexistent. There was a small beach accessing the harbor. The solarium is a porch off the kitchen - not private in my opinion. Keep in mind you have to pay for the chappaquiddick ferry every time you cross. Since the beach access was washed out, that was going to mean a daily trip to find a beach on the main island.
We had issues with the owner because she asked us to take pictures of anything broken and smudges on wall. When I sent the pictures, she told us she wanted us to leave the property. We were beyond insulted. We had to leave after one night- after taking 2 ferries and unpacking all of our stuff. Then we had to move to a different property at great expense and spent the entire first day of vacation arranging a new place to stay and arguing with vrbo and the owner. The owner sent us a partial refund which did not nearly cover the hardship we were put through. Vrbo kept the fees they charged us even though they said they would pay for new accommodations. The whole situation was absurd and we are never renting on this website again. It was the most inhospitable experience I have ever had on any trip - ever.
We would have just gone home but we had promised our children a trip and did not want to disappoint.
The owner asked me not to rate her but I don’t think vrbo works at all if renters are not honest. I would hate to think that another family experienced this because I remained quiet.

The views from Cynthia’s house are amazing.

Our family spent a week at Cynthia's beautiful home on Chappy. The views are amazing and you can't help but relax from the moment you walk in the door. The house was clean and exactly as advertised. Cynthia was very helpful and responsive leading up to our stay and we can't wait to get back on her calendar in the future!
4.8
Very enjoyable stay at a nice property with exquisite views. Quiet and unique area adjoining land trust beauty.

After the booking accepted we found out many things not included....
-Electric usage (in our case we are being told to pay $21 for 112 kwh of use over 3 days).
-Sheets/towels (bring your own)
-Garbage/recycle (pack it our yourself)
-Toiletries (no soap/shampoo in showers)
-Number of guests: Our booking for 6 was accepted, then owner wrote up contract with 3 guest limit even though booked for 6 and mentioned that up to 6 would be coming.
Positives:
The House was designed for its location/view and the path of the sun. The views from upstairs are great
Other major negatives:
10am strict check out, with cleaner arriving to enforce it (no phone call or warning, just a rude email announcing to get out now) and $500 fines if miss, even though sign on fridge says 11am check out.

We really enjoyed our stay! The views on the property are stunning and the location is great. So easy to get to the quiet, lovely beaches of Chappaquiddick. The host was a pleasure to work with. It was a wonderfully relaxing vacation for us.

Our family of 4 (including two teenagers) had a perfectly wonderful time at Tom and Cynthia’s ocean-view home on Chappy. As the listing and other reviews say, this place really does have it all: beautiful views (and sunsets!) from the outdoor patio; kayaks for water fun; bicycles for exercise; a hammock for relaxing, and much more. The interior is extremely spacious, airy, and full of light. We wanted a relaxing week by the beach, away from the Martha’s Vineyard crowds, and this home delivered. There is a small beach by the pond near the house that is about a 5-min. walk. Wasque Beach on the ocean is a 5 min. drive. Perfect! Be aware that Chappy is accessible only by a 2-min. ferry from Edgartown ($25 RT for a family of 4). And it can occasionally get crowded—we had a 45-min. wait for the ferry one afternoon, so plan your off-island excursions carefully. Also, the house, like many on Chappy, is accessible via a sand/dirt road and there are no street lights, so make sure you arrive before sunset. If we could have stayed longer, we would have. Most highly recommended!

My family and I had a great vacation at this beautiful home. The location is unbeatable for beach and nature lovers and the view from the deck and living area is just amazing. Looking forward to a return visit to this fantastic home and island sanctuary.

We had a wonderful time at Cynthia’s house- the views are incredible and location couldn’t have been better. We enjoyed our meals on the deck or inside looking out over the incredible water views, strolled down to the beach, explored, hiked, and played games in the sunroom. Would definitely come back here to stay!

Wow-what can I say. Cynthia's home is so exceptional. I scheduled a Fall mom and daughter trip last minute to treat my mom and get her away from stress. We have family history on the Vineyard and Chappaquiddick. Driving up to the home took our breath away. Just being able to sit on the deck, take in the view made our trip. We loved the short walk in the morning to the little beach close by - I will treasure those morning walks with coffee in hand with my mom for years to come.
The house is spotless, and all the instructions were crystal clear. Cynthia is very kind, and I appreciate her opening up her home to my family. Thank you again for everything!

Nice house with great location! Close enough to get to busy Edgartown and rest of MV but far enough out to be peaceful and away from crowds.
Owner was responsive and helpful!

Cynthia is a wonderful host. The property, the location, and the views are magnificent. It was the perfect island escape for my family of four. The house is spotless, comfortable, well-appointed, and beautiful. I would return in a heartbeat.
Chappaquiddick has some of the most breathtaking beaches I have seen in New England. The location is safe and serene. And it is really easy to take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard for shopping and dining.

The owner is very responsive; the house is in great location and the heating (April weather) worked nicely. We also enjoyed the kayaks and hammock.

Perfect home in every way.

Beautiful views of Katama Bay and the ocean from the large 2nd floor living room and big deck. Wonderful private location just a short walk to a secluded beach on the bay. The owners provided a shellfish license which allowed us to gather fresh clams for dinner nearly every night. Owner was very thoughtful and responsive. Definitely recommended.

Great house, beautiful views, perfect location on Chappy!

The home is a very nice place to stay. The house is great in nice weather and a cozy place to hang out with your family if the weather is not perfect. A nice location to be away from the crowds but close enough for an easy trip into Edgartown. Close to nature trails and a nice beach walk. Near secluded and picturesque East Beach on Chappy. The view from the deck is the most beautiful I have ever seen.

We had a great time at this home. The views of Katana were breathtaking and every night we were treated to a beautiful sunset. The place had everything we needed to live comfortably. We cooked every night and the kitchen had the necessary equipment. We never ate out. The beds were comfortable too as promised in the description. Our family has been going to MV for 42 years and we plan to return to this place again.

This was a perfect location for hiking, biking, reading, and just good old relaxation! My group were thrilled with the house and spectacular views. We could not have picked a better place, and time of year to visit. Definitely on my places to return to! Thank you to the Lally's

My family has been coming to Chappaquiddick annually since 1990. We have rented several houses near the Wasque Reservation, but none better than this house. When you first walk in the house the feeling of the house is one of openness and light. All of the bedrooms are on the ground floor (where you enter the house), including a large master bedroom which, through a window at one end, gives you a hint of the great views that you get from the second floor. When you go up the stairs to the large open concept living space you are struck by the tremendous view of the salt marsh below, and then Katama Bay and the ocean and Martha’s Vineyard beyond. This spacious open living area is filled with light coming in through the large windows which line two sides of the house. If you want to get an even better view (and some sun), then you can step outside and relax on the large deck. My family likes to watch birds—this is a perfect spot to do so. We get to see ocean birds, shore birds and forest birds, all in one setting. We also are within walking distance of Wasque Reservation and the beaches of Katama Bay. We also go kayaking and windsurfing on Katama Bay. In short, this place can’t be beat. We can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I have been renting this home for two weeks each year, for about the past 8 years. Each time we pack up, I hate to leave and I spend the rest of the year dreaming about going back. I can think of nothing more relaxing than having dinner on the deck, watching the sun set over Katama Bay, while listening to the birds and the crickets. This is a very, very peaceful part of the island. I've spent many hours in that kitchen, looking out over Katama Bay as I cook.
Another great memory for me is using the outdoor shower, as it catches the morning sun. It is a very peaceful way to wake up. Bring your binoculars or a spotting scope -- we've seen herons, egrets, ospreys, deer, and thousands of tree swallows from that deck.
Over the years, the owners have updated the bathrooms, the stove, and most recently the deck (which is fabulous).
Bring your 4 wheel drive truck and drive out across the sand to Cape Poge Gut at night to fish for striped bass and watch the sunrise over Cape Poge Bay -- to my mind, there is no better place to be.

There is a ritual that started several years ago for Christmas, and that is, I have to have a copy of a lease for Bayview on Chappy in my son's Christmas stocking. I don't believe I ever told Ms. Lally this, but it is the only gift he wants or needs, and I have to keep up the tradition, for it's THE GIFT that brings joy. Now he is married and the story remains the same. So the good news is, once again I was able to secure a week in June 2013, and now we wait and count the days--the excitement building. For him it's all about the fishing on Chappy. You can't find a gift this fabulous at Bloomingdale's.
That's my short holiday story!

The view is great is the only positive thing I can say about this rental. We rented the propertyfor a week in May 2012 with two other couples and only stayed a few hours before we left. The house and furnishings are very dated and if you have allergies to mold and mildew you do not want to stay here. We contacted the Owner and she said she would send her cleaning person back and also returned our cleaning fee . It would have taken more than just a few hours cleaning to get the rental ready for guests so we left and found another VRBO rental that was beautiful, updated, no broken toilets seats, no mold and mildew, no broken fireplace, and comfortable bedding.

Our family stayed in this wonderful home in August 2012. Cynthia was kind enough to arrange for our ferry tickets in advance, which saved us much worry. We had visited Chappy last year during our trip to MV, and decide that we would try a week there. We were definitely off the beaten path with this house, and were admittedly a little nervous when the pavement ended and we had to drive on a dirt road. We were so pleased when we saw the house! It is very spacious and the view is spectacular- just like the pictures! The deck was beautiful! Everything was perfect and clean. The owner, Cynthia, helped us figure out an issue we had with the DirecTV immediately. The beach is just a short walk or even shorter bike ride from the house. Wasque Beach (closed when we were there due to erosion) and East Beach are also just a bike ride (or short car ride) away. We loved the remoteness of the home, yet the proximity to Edgartown provided us with everything we needed. We also took advantage of the offerings at the Chappaquiddick Community Center- my husband and I took a yoga class, and my kids took sailing and tennis lessons. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place on MV.

The house has beautiful ocean views from the upstairs spacious lounge areas and the attached deck. We could lounge on the sofas or deck chairs and just read our books, look up and see the ocean! The sunsets from the deck and the nearby walkable smaller beach area were gorgeous. The long East beach is 3 miles away, uncrowded and feels like your own very private beach, because Chappy is very private! The 3 bedrooms downstairs are comfortable and the house has very much a family home feel to it. A car is recommended. The owner was always available and very responsive via phone or email during our planning and while we were at the house. Thank you for sharing your home with us and for a wonderful time. We hope to be back!

My husband and I were looking for a rental which would offer us the chance of a few days of peace to unwind and de-stress and we could not have found somewhere more perfect. From first contact Cynthia's email responses were quick and informative. As we are from the UK, phone contact was impractical, and the quick replies made the booking process very easy.
The directions to the house were clear and accurate which is important on the island as the roads are not always obvious. As we headed closer and closer to the water on arrival we were doubting either ourselves or the instructions but sure enough a narrow road led us to the house. We were glad we were arriving in daylight!
When we arrived the house was exactly as described, very clean and well maintained. The light streaming into the living area coupled with the stunning views was immediately relaxing. We had one small problem with the TV reception which I only mention for the quick way it was resolved after an email.
We spent hours exploring the area, walking, for what seemed like miles, along empty beaches feeling like the only people in the world but within a few minutes drive and ferry could be enjoying great food in Edgartown. We followed Cynthia's restaurant recommendations for Newes of America, great pub food, and Chesca's which was perfect for a special meal on Easter Sunday. We also enjoyed lunch at Among the Flowers, which served the best clam chowder I have ever tasted.
The only slight problem we had with visiting off season were that the ferry times were occasionally a little constricting when planning our evening meals but it was easily worked around.
I would recommend the property offseason to anyone looking for the perfect place to relax and escape from the real world for a few days. We look forward to visiting again ourselves during summer months to see the difference.
