Great host , amazing property

The property is in the middle of the woods, very quiet and peaceful, exactly a place to getaway from the daily hustle. It also comes with bugs but Russell was quick to respond and take care of it once we communicated the issue with him

I have never left less than a 5 star rating in my 10 years of traveling with vrbo. This property was miles into the woods on non marked roads, not accessible by uber and very very campy. We were told on arrival we needed our own sheets, towels and pillow cases. Unheard of. The musky wet smell made it difficult to stay inside. It is NOT in Edgertown. It is over a short water way with a 40 minute wait for a car to get over so uber wont go. Then you drive into narrow dirt roads to way out back. We caught a ride with lovely folks to get there. They were afraid to leave us.
If these conditions were made clear in the listing then I would understand. The owner sends a text 3 days before the stay and too late for a refund telling you you need a car, sheets, pillows & towels. Rediculous!
This place is not accessible, rural and campy. The owner lives next door and came over to let us know"buyer beware". We got a ride back to town by knocking on a neighbors door because it was too creepy to get in his car. (His solution was a ride back to town.) We could not find an available room so we had to leave Marthas Vineyard. The cost was outrageous. No refund for the misrepresentation and vrbo did nothing to help stating the pin on the map was correct and the photos don't prove mold. We are very disappointed in vrbo as well for not requiring clarity.
So "buyer beware" this is the wrong place for anyone not wanting a musky, very used and old shed far into the woods on a dirt road.

The property was nice, clean and well maintained. The host was extremely nice and personalable. We had and enjoy stay at Cappy Island. Looking forward to staying there again in the very near future.

The place is inexpensive for Martha’s Vineyard, but it’s very isolated. No restaurants or shops in the vicinity. Shops and restaurants in Edgartown, are 15 or 20 minutes from the place. And you have to take a ferry which costs $15 with one driver and five dollars each person in the car. For the three of us it was $25 round trip each time we went to town. It is a rustic cabin in the woods. The long access road ( about 10 minutes) is dirt/sand and meant for SUVs or pick up trucks. We have a sedan, and it was very difficult to get in and out of the cottage . If bugs are a problem this is not the place for you as bugs enter the place. But if you like peace and solitude, this is a good choice. You get many amenities in a very rustic setting.

The house delivered on promise. It is a no-frills, but well-equipped and centrally located cabin in the woods. Russell could not have been more polite, communicative and accommodating. There were plenty of mosquitoes and no-see-ums around in July, but you will be fine if you run the fans and bring enough repellent. Our favorite features of the cabin were the plentiful light, well-equipped kitchen, the shady deck and refreshing outdoor shower.

A quiet week with whippoorwills and welchs.

We had a delightful week in the cottage in the Chappy woods. It felt like the Maine wood, but with lovely beaches, warm water very nearby. Quiet, peaceful. Time for biking. Time for sitting on beach and watching the birds. At one with the land. We got lost coming & going for 1-2 days, but then found our way. When we wanted a restaurant dinner, it's only a short ferry ride to the tourist bustle in Edgartown.

If your looking for some solitude and a very peaceful, relaxing break from the rat race this property definitely fits the bill. It is a charming, creative structure. The beds are comfortable with ample support. It has some nice rustic old school Vineyard charm. which we love. It is not a 5 star hotel and that was just fine with us. It had everything we needed and more and the owner was very pleasant to deal with .And very accessible. We would stay there again.

This is a very old building but very clean and comfortable. Large deck with table, chairs and rocking chair, large yard. Had a great week and would stay again!

We enjoyed our stay as really needed a get away whith the ability to ferry to Edgartown and walk around when you wanted more activity/resaturants etc. I love the beaches of Chappy. The place is a bit dated but we were not looking for the Ritz and it does have everything and it all functions, even a washer and dryer. Re access, you do not need 4 WD but need a car that can deal with some bumps way on the way to and from. On balance, an excellent stay.

The cottage is absolutely delightful. It feels more like staying with a friend than in one of those anonymous appartments run by agencies for purely financial interests. The house offered everything we could wish for and we greatly enjoyed our time on Chappy. Highly recomended.

This is our second stay at this property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was optimal for folks seeking quiet beaches or fishermen like ourselves. Kitchen was well-equipped and we made use of the grill on the deck. Russ was very communicative!

The property is filled with the charm and character that comes with a well loved retreat in a quiet setting. A great place to relax and unwind but a quick ferry ride to Edgar town for dining and shopping. Wonderful beaches.

We loved our stay…the cabin was cute and charming and quiet. Chappy is gorgeous and such a relief to get away from the hordes on the vineyard. $70 to the trustees gets you and your family a year of access to the most beautiful beaches (with super easy parking) and miles of hiking trails.

Cottage was fine. Could use some updating. The yard. Could use a good raking and leaf pickup..
We did enjoy our stay. Owner brought a full tank of propane for the grill when we ran out. I would saty there again.

This small Chappy cottage had everything our family needed. It's central location made all our favorite beaches easy to access.
The cottage has a wonderful side porch with table, umbrella and chairs that we enjoyed for meals or just sitting and relaxing. The sun floods the cottage in the morning making it perfect for quiet, lazy mornings drinking coffee and reading.
Our family prefers isolated locations and this was just what we needed. The cottage is older and rustic, but we felt relaxed and comfortable and appreciated it for it's quiet location and affordability. Lastly, we loved the outdoor shower! Thank you for a wonderful week on Chappy.

If you’re looking for a secluded getaway far away from the every day hustle and bustle with the beach/island vibe look no further. This cabin is perfect but if you aren’t familiar with Chappy like us bring your own car!

Well equipt cottage on Chappy. The cottage is in need of some renovation but for the price is it good value for money.
