Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sunset Chalet. The over the top characteristic was the stunning views of Lake Tahoe from our deck. Chalet was exceptionally clean and well stocked with thoughtful amenities. Host was immediately available to resolve an issue when the area power was shut down and we called her cell phone. Would we return- absolutely.

For what we could afford, this was the perfect. Close to pretty much everything we wanted to do. The only downside was the afternoon sun really made the place toasty. They do have mini AC units, but they couldn't keep up. I still recommend!

The sunset chalet is aptly named. The house is very convenient for driving or hiking into nearby King's Beach.

This is a very nice property with a Great Lake view. The owner of this property has stocked more supplies than any other place we stayed. You are a very thoughtful host. Thank you!

We stayed for only 1 night. Everything was just as pictured, clean, and with plenty of kitchen/bathroom supplies. Great spot for a few friends to stay while you’re hitting the slopes.

Beautiful views and quiet location. Property could use an update facelift. Overall, nice stay.

Our family enjoyed our stay! View of the lake was beautiful. Cabin was very roomy for a family of four. We will definitely plan on coming again!

We really enjoyed our stay! The view from the living area and deck is amazing. The neighborhood is very quiet, except for the street noise from down the hill. Really close to King's Beach downtown area.

Cute cozy cottage with panoramic views. Down the road from store and Kings beach. Thank you!

This property has a Great Lake view. We enjoyed sitting out there in the morning drinking coffee as the sun rose, as well as in the evenings for the sunsets.
Home was clean and they had all the amenities we needed. It is also convenient to Kings Beach for shopping and eating.
It is a little dated, but clean and we would stay here again.

The pictures of this property did not describe it accurately .. the view overlooked Lake Tahoe which was beautiful but had to drive to get to a beach access. This property is extremely outdated!! The floor “fans” had dust 3 inches thick and hit against the plastic when you turned them on so both were unusable … the carpet was as clean as it could be .. meaning it was vacuumed but pretty sure it had been there a very long time … upstairs the ceiling fan hit against the ceiling so it was annoying but you needed it for the air flow. The owner did refund me $50 because we arrived at 4pm and the cleaning lady had us wait outside for about 30 minutes then allowed us to come on in while she finished up. We only stayed one night and traveled a long way so the last thing we wanted was to wait to check in. The owners need to update this property badly and it would be so much better.. just very “old” and run down inside … super disappointed!!! Would not stay here again even tho Lake Tahoe was breathtaking!

This was our second stay at this VRBO. The house has absolutely gorgeous views of the lake. The space is fine for a home base, everything you need is in the kitchen, we ended up eating most of our meals there. The unit is super dated and could use some TLC. Only half of the stove works and the side that does work only allows you to cook on high. The BBQ could stand to be replaced as well. All in all it was a great girls trip, and we would probably stay here again despite the issues (and we saw a bear in the backyard!).

Lovely spacious two bedroom cabin overlooking North Lake Tahoe. Property was exactly as advertised.

When we arrived at the property it was about 8:30pm. Check in was 4pm and the house should've been ready but the cleaning lady was there cleaning. We waited over 30 min. for her to be done. We called the owner and she apologized and gave us a credit for the inconvenience.
The property itself is outdated and neglected. There is carpet in the bathroom. Decorations are old, dirty and outdated. I doubt the owner would stay 1 night in these conditions. There is no pride in this property, only a way for someone to make money. I'm not believing the other reviews. My husband and I were shocked that this property had the reviews it did. There is a musty smell and mold in the washing machine (past reviews address this problem but obviously has not been fixed). I never give bad reviews, but this one might be an upgrade for a homeless person. It needs a complete makeover and renovations. It could be something great. Views are amazing, but that's about it. I couldn't wait to leave in the morning. Sorry to say these things but I would have wanted to know the truth.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cabin is so cute, nicely appointed and the view is unbelievable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone looking for the perfect cabin in the perfect location.

Even with the snow piled high, access to the residence was clear. Accommodations were clean and kitchen well-equipped with cooking gear and basic provisions( oil, spices etc.). The weather was cold for late March so the extra quilts and space heater were welcome and utilized. Full moon rise over the lake at 5:30 am was a welcome treat. Beautiful spot. Thanks!

This is a great place for a couple or a small family. The kitchen is stocked with so many spices, paper goods, coffee etc., and they have great utensils, pots and pans, lots of games and extra towels. 15 minutes to NorthStar ski resort, and 5 minutes to the casino. We had a wonderful time.

This place worked for our short stay in Tahoe. Convenient location and great view of the lake. A little outdated but we knew that going in from the pictures.

Not for the summer!
While the furnishings and fixtures in this house are outdated, I could live with that. The house had a very musty smell that I couldn't figure out, because it appeared clean. However, the thing that I couldn't live with was the poor air conditioning. I live in Tennessee where the highs are in the 90's or 100's during the summer. I live in air conditioning. I saw that the highs in Tahoe were going to be low 80s and I thought that was great. What I didn't get is that the sun is so strong due to the elevation. The house only had 2 mobile air conditioners. One downstairs and one upstairs. The first 2 nights when we got back to the house the downstairs thermometer had maxed out at 90 degrees. The upstairs air conditioner had kicked off. The owner had plugged in the air conditioner to a strip, instead of the wall. When my husband figured out what was wrong with the unit (not the property manager), we finally had that working. The thermometer upstairs maxed out at 99. We finally figured out that if we opened the upstairs window after noon, then at least some of the heat would escape. The hot afternoon sun comes into the 2 story windows and skylights that are facing the lake. While beautiful, the heat was inescapable. The first 2 nights, with all the windows open the temp didn't get down to the mid 70s until way after midnight. Couldn't sleep at all. Once we finally figured out the best way to manage the heat, the best we could do for the afternoon heat was to get the temperature downstairs to 85. Even then, it would take to 11 to get the temp in the house where one could sleep. I'm sure this house is fine in the winter months (if you can get over the musty smell and outdated furnishings), but absolutely NOT for the heat of the Tahoe summer in mid-July.

Gorgeous Lake view from the Balcony
My friend, my little dog and I had a lovely stay at the Sunset Chalet. Lots of restaurants nearby and for the meals we wanted to relax at home with, the kitchen (as well as the rest of the cabin) were quite well equipped. I enjoyed the trailhead at the end of our street for short hikes with my pup. I needed to contact Carol (owner) once during my stay with a question. She responded to my query almost immediately and resolved the problem. I'd love to return here for another stay sometime!

Tahoe Road Trip
We drove from Oregon down to Tahoe and spent a few nights in both South Tahoe and North. We enjoyed North Tahoe a bit more and part of it was due to this sunny house that felt just like home. So much light came through the big windows and the view was amazing. There is a downstairs neighbor, but he is quiet and there is a bit of road noise, but not much. We loved it.

Amazing stay!!
This house is in an amazing location and the the interior is the definition of a cozy cabin. The view overlooks the entire lake and the house was very well equipped. The communication with Carol was superb and would highly recommend this rental for any family that was a nice getaway and relax in a cozy home. I will 100% love to come back here!

Honeymoon Heaven
We spent 3 beautiful days overlooking Lake Tahoe. (About 300 yards away). Enjoyed the comfort provided while watching it snow. The fireplace was very cozy.
Kitchen was equipped with most everything needed to prepare meals. Good inventory in the honor pantry.
Carol was a joy to work with when we wanted to extend our stay.
Hopefully it will be available next time we return to Tahoe
