Located in the historic market town of Saxmundham, it is served by railway station links to Ipswich, London, and Norwich. The town has many amenities -shops, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets. Nearby Leiston has a cinema and a sports/leisure centre.
Varley House is perfect for larger families and groups wanting to celebrate and to get away together. The surrounding area offers attractions and activities for all age groups. Excellent walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep. There are good main road networks as well as scenic routes around the quieter lanes to explore delightful Suffolk villages and coastal towns, as well as the wonderful North Sea coast.
A main sweeping staircase leads from the living room to the upper floor and a further, steeper staircase leads upstairs from the kitchen. These two staircases service lower and first-floor accommodation. There is a ground floor twin bedroom as well as a ground floor bathroom.
The living room features an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, beams, a piano and a door leading out into the garden. The rear, enclosed lawned garden is perfect for al fresco dining. On the first floor are four further bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet. Bedroom 4 and bedroom 5 also benefit from direct access via separate steep, winding staircases.
Saxmundham is conveniently located for exploring the delights of Suffolk. These include the charming coastal towns of Aldeburgh, famous for its links with Benjamin Britten and the annual Aldeburgh festival, as well as its fish and chips! and Southwold, famous for its beautiful beaches, Adnam’s brewery and its iconic beach huts.
Nearby are Snape Maltings, Orford, the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, the historic village of Dunwich, marvellous churches at Blythburgh and Wenhaston - with its extraordinary 15th century ’Doom’, Framlingham Castle, the market town of Woodbridge and of course the ancient Anglo Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo which is run by the National Trust.
