Summer's fun-filled days and tranquil evenings are at their best in this exceptional home on Lake Lure. Sweeping views of the Chimney Rock State Park Mountains that soar above the azure waters of Lake Lure can be enjoyed from almost every room.
Inviting entry lures you to the great room where you will find a stone fireplace, large TV and comfortable seating. The great room opens to a spacious kitchen which has everything needed to prepare any meal. High end appliances include a gas stove. The kitchen offers a spacious eating area and access to a covered side deck complete with gas grill and outdoor dining table. The great room with gas fireplace plenty of seating, (WiFi for those that still need to be connected) opens to a comfortable screened in porch complete with comfortable seating to enjoy the amazing views! A powder room and laundry complete the main living areas.
The main level Master Suite is located to the right of the entry foyer and is complete with a King bed, fireplace and TV. This lovely suite also opens to the screen porch. The spacious master bath has a soaking tub, and walk-in shower.
The lower level has three bedrooms and two baths. All three guestrooms have queen beds, one guestroom has a private bath while the other lower level bath is shared with the 2 remaining guest rooms. An additional gameroom, gym sleeping area is located over the garage with a twin trundle bed, TV, foosball table and some gym equipment. Perfect for overflow sleeping or kids that want a little space to call their own.
The waterfront is spectacular! The boathouse offers a large dock for sunbathing or entering the water for swimming. A full kitchen with electric range, microwave and refrigerator are available and luxury conveniences not typically found in a boat house! Two kayaks are provided for enjoying the lake.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY LIMITS: The maximum occupancy limit for this home is 10 persons. You must provide us with the number of people and vehicles in your group. Violation of occupancy rules are grounds for immediate eviction with no refund, and fees will be charged to your credit card to cover any damages.
DESIGNATED PARKING: Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas on the vacation rental property. Parking in the roadway blocking the flow of traffic and parking on neighbor's property without permission are prohibited. Contact your rental's property manager for offsite, overflow parking options. There is parking for 2 vehicles at this property. No RV's trailers, campers, or oversized vehicles of any kind.
ACCESS: You will receive directions and access information once we have received a signed rental agreement securing reservation (this agreement will be sent to you for electronic signature) you will also need to provide a copy of your government issued ID to our company with current mailing address and contact information along with vehicle registration of each vehicle that will be at the home during your stay. You will be emailed check in instructions 24 hours prior to arrival provided you have signed your electronic rental agreement and sent in a copy of your photo ID and vehicle information. If you go to a property prior to approval from our office before check in time you will be accessed an early check-in fee $50.
TRASH DISPOSAL: Please place all garbage in black trash bags and leave inside garage due to increased bear activity

NO HOUSE PARTIES: We do not accept reservations from sororities, fraternities, spring-break parties, bachelor / bachelorette / wedding parties, graduation parties, or ANY similar groups unless approved at time of reservation. Mr. Lake Lure Vacation Rentals works very closely with local law enforcement to patrol our rental homes, and report to us any occupancy violations. Any violation of this rule mandates you immediately vacate home without refund, regardless of the remaining duration of your reservation.
FIRE PROTECTION FOR YOUR SAFETY: Fire Extinguisher and Evacuation Plan -This home is equipped with working fire extinguishers and a posted evacuation plan. Removing any of these from their designated location is prohibited. Avoid storing items not to block hallways, doorways, steps, entrances and exits. Small Outdoor Fires - When an area burning ban is in effect, bonfires are prohibited. Contact your rental home's property manager for information on any burning bans. Outdoor fires are only permitted in a place and manner approved by the Fire Chief.
LAKE ACTIVITIES: Swimming: Do not swim farther than 50 feet from shore unless accompanied by an observer in a boat.
Fishing: A North Carolina fishing license is required, and all state fishing regulations apply.
Boating: If a boat is provided with this rental home, please ask for and review the pamphlet entitled “Lake Regulations & Map”. If you wish to utilize your own boat on the lake, a permit is required and can be obtained at Town Hall or at the town marina.
PERSONAL CONDUCT: Trespassing - Venturing onto a neighboring dock or pier, boat house or property without the owner's permission is prohibited.
NO SMOKING: Smoking is prohibited in all our vacation rental homes. You will be accessed an additional cleaning fee if it is discovered you have been smoking in the home of $500. We ask that all smokers stay a minimum of 10 ft from any open window or door, do not stand near open doors or windows allowing smoke to enter the home while smoking on property. Please make sure butts and ashes are not left behind. Discard the butts and ashes in the outside garbage. Do not throw butts on the ground (including the fire pit) or bring them into the home. If there is any tobacco smell in the home after your departure, there will be a minimum $500 charge. Oil lamps and incense are not permitted due to the long-lasting odor. If these policies are violated, there will be a charge for excessive cleaning.
NOISE: Unreasonably loud noise is prohibited throughout the Town. Please observe quiet hours after 10 p.m. and be aware that sound carries very far over a still lake.
UNRULY BEHAVIOR: Behavior deemed disorderly and causing a disturbance to the public is prohibited. These regulations will be strictly enforced.
SECURITY CAMERA LOCATIONS: Please be advised our homes have forward facing entry area security cameras. We monitor for non-reported pets, over occupancy and number of vehicles.
PETS: Pets are NOT ALLOWED in this home. If you are found to be in violation of this rule you will be required to vacate the property and forfeit the remainder of your stay. You will also be accessed a fine of $500 for the violation. No refunds will be given!
RENTAL AGREEMENT AND TOTAL BALANCE: You will be required to sign a vacation rental agreement before your reservation is secured. Your total amount listed on the Mr Lake Lure® Vacation Rental Agreement may be different than the amount paid to the 3rd party site you book through. All third-party sites charge differing amounts as service fees to guests for using their services. We have no control over those fees and do not collect them.

*** Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, through the first quarter (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. No personal watercraft will be allowed on the lake during this time. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. For more information about the annual lake drawdown, please contact the Town of Lake Lure.

Fantastic house with incredible lake front access

The house was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need. Two living areas, beautiful porches, large kitchen, nice bedrooms. The boat house is also very nice. The only negative part was that housekeeping was 40 minutes late getting the house cleaned. I had to wait in the driveway before I could go in. Also, the large oven door did not close tight. We managed to make it work though. Over all it is was a wonderful place to stay. I would book it again.

We spent 3 nights at Over the Edge Lake House and had an incredible stay! The house was clean, spacious, and well stocked. The boat house was awesome too. We used the paddle boards and unicorn float daily. We brought our own kayaks, but there are kayaks for you to use as well. We hiked Chimney Rock, so the stairs down to the boat house were not a problem at all. The driveway is treacherous, just be prepared! Lake Lure is gorgeous! We will definitely be back!

This vacation lake house was wonderful. Nicely finished and well equipped, with a fantastic Lake Lure view. We were a family consisting of adults and teenagers, and we all throughly enjoyed this property and the lake. Included with the main house was a boat house on the lake, stocked with 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks. Ideal for fun days on the lake.

Our stay at Over the Edge was a perfect family get together. The house is beautiful, all the amenities and the location on the lake is perfect for all week long fun. This was our first real vacation in over 30 years after military and government service and the first getaway with our grandkids. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Absolutely beautiful! Activities for all ages. Enjoyed the large kitchen/dining area with the view that just fed your soul!
Had room for 9 to sleep on mattress but the couch worked out for the 10th. Never drove on a driveway that steep but we all made it! Hot tub was a real joy. Burning band on but had 3 outdoor gas fire pits. The 3 fireplaces inside made up for that.
We also used the 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks, fishing!
I almost got my big toe caught in a deck board off the main deck enclosed. We moved the table on top of it so it would not happen again. If it got caught I am pretty sure it might of amputated it. The board is not over a brace and looks ok but bends down if you hit it just right. I had no shoes on at the time.

We stayed for a family vacation at this house recently and overall had a great time! We had littles as young as 5 and big kids as old as 22 (along with parents) and the house worked for everyone. Yes it is 100 steps down to the lake, but the lake "house" is a space you can spend all day in since it has a kitchen and some couches. Kayaks were great for paddles, but bring your own inflateables as the ones there had a few leaks. Couple small notes:
1. The fridges in the main house are all drawer fridges so some taller items had to go in the garage fridge. WiFi was basically non-existant and at least on ATT cell was sketchy at best.
2. Driveway is an ADVENTURE but completely doable. The mirror at the top has fallen off so a little stressful turning in or out as it is on a corner, but again doable.
3. Dock furniture could use a refresh, but we spent most of the time in the water so not really an issue. if you have some lightweight folding chairs to bring a plus!
Overall a great stay for all of us!

With the exception of a few issues (broken patio furniture and planks, wine cooler not working, etc), the home is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. There are about 90 steps from the house to the boat house, so our older relatives struggled a little, but managed. The kids tried fishing but didn’t catch anything, but had fun trying. The home and boat house were stocked well, and it was a great opportunity for our full family to come together to connect. Thank you for the use of your wonderful home!

This is our second time at the property, 3 first 3 years ago. The house needs some TLC! The light over the stove is out, the boathouse is in desperate need of paint and new furniture, and some of the furniture on the screened porch is broken.
However, the kitchen is lovely and the living spaces and clean and spacious and comfortable.

We wanted a mountain get away for a quick family vacation and this house worked perfectly for all of us! The driveway is a little tricky, but if you are used to mountain roads it would be no problem. Great property over all!

Nice place but quite a few little things either broken or neglected. They don’t tell you the driveway is so steep that you almost need to rappel down it until the day you check in. The boat house is about 100’ below the house so be prepared for a long climb back up. There was 2 kayaks, several blow up items and most had holes in them. No paddle board. Other than that it’s a nice place. Plenty of kitchenware.

Perfect for our Annual Family & Friends Weekend at the Lake!
We loved our holiday weekend stay at Over the Edge! We've come to Lake Lure with another family every Memorial Day weekend over the last 5 years and this was our favorite property. There was plenty of space for 4 adults and 4 teenagers to sleep comfortably and to hang out. The entire property was clean and well maintained. So many different outdoor spaces at the house to eat, have morning coffee and play games - multiple fire pits and a hot tub! The kitchen was fantastic and access to a second refrigerator in the garage made everything very functional. Our favorite space was the boathouse! Lots of water toys and kayaks were available to use and the deck was large enough to store the paddleboards we rented (we still had room to use the fire pit and lounge chairs as well). The boathouse had a refrigerator and a small kitchen, so we brought down snacks and beverages for the day so we didn't have to keep walking up the stairs to the house. The view was amazing and we had plenty of room to swim and paddleboard in front of the house without being too close to the boats. We can't wait to come back!

Family Vacation
We had a great time! The kayaks were fantastic to have we used them to see the bald eagles nest everyday. The porches afford amazing views of the mountains and give a sense of being at the top of them. The only draw backs are minimal, the driveway is quite an incline and the 80+ steps from boat house to house ensured we closed our exercise rings! By the end of the week though we were crushing them. For sure would return and recommend to friends.

A little short on Over the Edge
We had a wonderful time visiting Lake Lure and the surrounding area. The house, “Over the Edge”, was spacious enough for multiple families. Unfortunately, we encountered several issues on arrival. Check in information was not complete and the house was not ready for renters with cleaning issues, burnt bulbs, and a sauna that did not work. No gas the first night resulted in no hot water or stove for cooking. The rental company was not prompt in replying to messages at all levels. A promised refund for lack of gas the first night took 3 weeks to process. The description should mention the steepness of the driveway. This was a great property with many amenities but more attention to detail and communication would have made the trip more of a delight.

Weekend Retreat of the LD Sisters
The pictures posted on VRBO did no justice of the property. The house is absolutely gorgeous, clean and the location is very relaxing and majestic. Most of us in the group (9 people) visited Lake Lure, NC for the first time and our purpose was to experience the Fall colors and this house locates in the area that has all of scenery that we came for. One thing i would like to mention is that the house actually has enough beds to accomodate 8 people in the main house and 1 in the bonus room on top of the garage which we didn't find out until we got there. We contacted the manager and were assisted immediately. The manager sent help to move the mattress from the garage's room to the master bedroom to accomodate our 9th person. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay and thank you for the opportunity!!!

Excellent view
Enjoyed a weekend on Lake Lure. The view from the house was beautiful. House had all the necessary amenities. Did not know that the house had kayaks which was a pleasant surprise and enjoyed taking those out on the lake.

Great Lake Getaway
We had an excellent time at the property, it was exactly as described and in a great location on the lake. Plenty of room for everybody and lots to do. Would certainly rent again if back in the area.

Winter stay
Property manager was very difficult to work with and not the nicest. Maintenance guy was beyond kind. A lot of issues with the house as far as maintenance goes also got locked out one night when maintenance came to do work without us there or without our knowledge.
Maybe some sort of miscommunication between property manager and us as guest however didn’t think that was very acceptable. We had a fantastic stay at this gorgeous house on Lake Lure - our first time staying on the lake but certainly not our last. The weather was fantastic the entire long weekend and we rented a pontoon boat from Lake Lure Adventures that was a definite highlight, although jumping off the dock was a close second, especially with the assortment of tubes and floaties in the boathouse.
The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and lent itself to many wonderful family meals, and the many porches provided great spots to sit and sip and visit across generations. We viewed the steps as needed exercise and a good preparation for hiking at Chimney Rock. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Great Location, Great House
We rented for 6 adults plus 4 children. As expected, 4 BR but initially couldn't find sleep spots for 2 more. Office provided guidance to find nice spot above garage - a/c plus queen.
About 80 steps down to boathouse with dock, knacks, chairs, 2nd kitchen, games.
Homes interior was very nice and well equipped. VG exterior decks with grill but weathered.
Location was VG - quieter leg of lake. We rented pontoon boat- a must to enjoy the lake.
Either boat to dinner or bring lots of food as trip to grocery is winding road.

Don't make me leave!!
This was our 1st time to visit Lake Lure and Chimney Rock and I am certain it will not be our last!! This house was perfect for our family and friends. We had plenty of space in the common areas and bedrooms. The kitchen was perfect and very well equipped with pots, pans and other necessities. Most importantly, we lived on the decks and porch when we were up at the house, from morning until bedtime! Who can leave those absolutely beautiful views of the mountains and lake! The dock was amazing with tons of space and even rafts for water fun. The only thing to be aware of is that there are many, many steps to the water from the house. That did not bother us, but may be important if you have mobility issues. Thank you for letting us stay, I wish I was still there right now!!!
