Total Nightmare
House is NOT what's advertised on line, Outside was deteriorated and had trash including a bed, windows, and door all around the outside. Inside had filthy torn furniture. Drinking glasses and silverware had food stuck on them. Washcloth and towels were moldy. We arrived early evening, unpacked grabbed some take-out {hence we noticed the dirty glasses}. Decided to explore the castle. The cool bar you see on line.....full of garbage. The hanging bed in dungeon stained!!!!! Come to find out, you can't use dungeon as the owner lives down there in filth. The last straw was rat turds all over desk and DON'T open desk drawer it's full of rat turds. We high tailed it out of there. I firmly believe public health should be called in and declare it unfit for occupancy. This survey is asking I rate each category so gave 1 star but not deserving

Guys Weekend Getaway
For the past few years, my buddies and I have rented a house in different Arizona cities for a break from the holiday season. This year we chose Mollohan Castle and we had a great stay. We appreciated the uniqueness of the building and the architecture. It is truly a one-of-a-kind property. The owner, Daniel was very accommodating and was easy to reach before and during our stay.

Great quiet location with Quite Interesting Architecture
Great host, very accommodating. Fun party atmosphere a small distance from civilization. Older facility that could use a little clean up.

Worst VRBO ever
We were looking forward to this place because of all the great reviews. However, our experience was anything but pleasant. First off when we arrived the castle is completely unfinished with badly worn furniture, exposed electrical wiring, and junk throughout the grounds. The one and only shower leaked down to the master bedroom on the main floor. The sheets on the dungeon bedroom were full of dirt. And to top it off there was a mouse in the living room. Shortly after that we noticed mouse poop around the property walls inside the house. We originally planned on staying the whole weekend but after the mouse issue we left after just one night.

Great experience for adolescent kids
Great experience for adolescent kids! Checking in with Danny was very easy and he gave us a quick review of the property I wouldn’t suggest this for very small children as they could be injured on the stairs (steep) but for two boys ages six and nine they thought this was the best vacation ever! They thought they we were lying to them when we told them we were staying in a castle they loved the tower the staircases and the theme and we loved to hang out on the front deck with the pool table and the views. If you’re looking for a once in a lifetime experience for your kids or someone who loves castles this would be it!

Magical Castle
Our stay at the castle did not disappoint!!
We had a very magical stay! Everything was more than we expected! The living area was perfect for relaxing and visiting!
The sleeping arrangements worked out fantastic! Very Cozy! The tub was perfect for a relaxing bubble bath!
Very easy to get into town and yet we felt that we were privately tucked away !!
All of the crystals were magical and we able loved the giant Rose Quartz in the Living area!!
Danny and Pax were the perfect hosts!! Danny is a genuine gentleman and very helpful & kind!
Strongly recommend staying whenever you are in Tucson!!! ✨

Awesome Pictures
We had a great time at the castle. My kids said it was one of their top 3 favorite vacations (after Disneyland and Santa Cruz Beach Board Walk). We did some great pictures for my 40th birthday with medieval costumes on that I will cherish forever!! The reviews say it all...it is a work in progress, but again the main outside structure of the castle is great. The configuration of the bedrooms are totally wonky, with only one "normal" bedroom on the main floor and there are safety concerns with children. We spent most of our time on the patio, great views and shaded. It is along a flight path so be prepared for that (and during the week the fighter jets are pretty loud...but it is kinda cool). The owner will great you and check you in and lives in a separate area of the castle (on property and in the structure). He is not a big mask wearer, so that made us a little nervous during COVID.

One of a kind
The castle is very unique and has amazing views. Dan was super easy and accommodating before and during our stay. If your looking for high end accommodations this is not the place for you. If your looking for a quiet, fun, and unique stay Mollohan Castle provides just that! Had a blast!

An unexpected treat
We really enjoyed the castle. There are unexpected pleasures everywhere. We smiled about the swords in the bracing of the front castle door and the skeleton in the basement and Rapunzel's Room. We enjoyed the quirky parts and the beautiful parts. The kitchen is modern and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The castle was really clean.
Dan and his dog Pax were great hosts. Dan gave us a great tour when we arrived. Pax greeted us every time we came outside. Dan had great suggestions for local restuarants instead of chains.
The castle is charmingly quirky. We are glad we choose this place.

A beautiful castle!
Spent three nights there with my family of four. My teen daughters loved the castle-ness and taking pictures at the various locations: the moat and drawbridge, the balconies, the dungeon. Danny was extremely responsive before and during our stay, including (on a moment's notice) showing us how to access a desert park trail system from the back of the castle.

Definitely one of a kind!
Bring an open mind, playful spirit and a pair of slippers for the stone floor and you'll have an amazing time here. My husband, my dog and myself stayed at the castle over my birthday weekend. We were both very excited by all the things to explore! The master bedroom is very cool and the bed quite comfortable. The kitchen seemed to be nicely equipped, although I didn't do any cooking while we were there. The deck and living room are filled with beautiful crystals and the views are absolutely incredible, one night we even watched a fireworks display over the mountains.
One of the best perks of this property are Dan and his dog Pax. Our dog Loki had the time of his life wrestling with Pax all weekend... best buds... he was so sad to leave. Dan is veer gracious and was right there to answer questions and chat with us about the house.
This is a work in progress so don't expect everything to be finished and perfect. Just appreciate it's charm and imagination and you'll have a great time!

Desert Castle
This was a truly interesting place to stay for the week! Love the quirkiness and themed decor! It was pretty chilly at night in early February, so the turret was a bit too cold to sleep in. Danny took good care of us whenever we need anything. If you’re looking for something totally different this place is for you!

Quaint and Fun
We really enjoyed the ambiance of the castle. We sat on front porch every night and had a fire and enjoyed the view. We were two couples and sleeping was fine. It would be a little trickier for a larger crowd due to the sleep set-up. It was very easy to access and had grocers and shopping very close by.

An amazing experience, with the best host ever!
I urge you all to experience the magic that is Mollohan Castle. Dan is an amazing host with endless hospitality. The castle itself is like time traveling to a more modern middle age (yunno, with electricity). It contains hidden treasures all over the space. It is close to the airport, everything you need downtown, and there are hiking trails right in the backyard. Really such an unbelievable experience, and I can't express enough how awesome the host is! I'll be back every year.
Thank you Doc!

A very unique experience. The views from the castle are incredible. My family loved it. . The castle has some quirks to it. It added to the overall experience. The owner was quick to help and gave suggestions on where to eat. Great stay!!

Queen and King of the Caatle
Danny helped us plan for a surprise 30th Birthday Party for my Daughter....we had 50-60 people at the party and there was plenty of room for the TH, Photo Booth, Food, and Game Area...Gorgrous Panoramic Views of the City...very cool history and ambience of the Castle. The Bar area off The Dungeon provides for additional story telling and the various levels and Rapunzel

Enjoyed our visit!
Dan is a wonderful host and makes sure all needs are met! This was as others stated, a work in progress! The view is spectacular! We loved all the details and were very comfortable. My only small complaint was, it was difficult to walk on the rocky type tile floor with no shoes on. That being said, it is part of the charm of this house. Thanks so much Dan for all your hospitality!

amazing views from the castle balconies, what a place for an Wedding. Wadda you think Lucy ??
What a neat place with a trail into this amazing desert. And Danny ( concierge/overlord,lol) was sweet at showing us the idiosyncrasies of staying at Mollohan Castle. Kicking back, being entertained by the furrry master, Pax, the most lovey lil dog, was my fave activity added to the most amazing Canyon hikes earlier = a very great day...

Unique for sure
As some of the other reviews state; this is a work in progress. The furnishings and decor are very warm and welcoming but the dungeon carries the cool factor and the tower is waiting for a princess. Much like a construction site will have clutter around while in process I would not let this dissuade you. Would stay here again for sure, if for no other reason... Danny is the BEST host!!! and always thought ahead of our needs and we were never left wanting.

Amazing Stay in a Castle
Danny and Pax were above and beyond accommodating hosts. This is truly a unique property and definiteyl help make the vacation in Tucson a memorable one! Where else has a Rapunzel Tower, a dungeon, and views across the whole city from several balconies. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay!

Fun place
The castle is a lot of fun. We stayed there 4 nights while I think 3 would have been perfect. In winter, the upstairs (esp turret room) gets very cold. But nice comfy mattress up there and really great painting! The Murphy bed is perfectly safe except for small children. I generally wouldn’t recommend the house for small children...too many places to fall. The dungeon is actually really cool and has a nice full size bed down there. We didn’t use it because we didn’t need to, but it is an option. The kitchen is nice and totally equipped. The place as a whole is a bit rough around the edges, but you aren’t going there to have a Hilton hotel experience (perfect and boring). It’s really cool. Enjoy the view. Nice natural cacti garden on the hill above. Play pool or ping pong on the deck. There’s a good TV my kids hooked up their Nintendo to. Lots to do in Tucson! We enjoyed the PIMA air and space museum and both sides of Saguaro National Park and some hiking. It’s way prettier there than I imagined.

Great place, master piece in progress
Really felt like a castle, my 12 year old loved his room in the tower. My favorite was the dungeon. Need to be young at heart to stay there. Master bedroom was fantastic. Cool place, a work in progress. Daniel was a good host and has a neat vision. Scott from KS

Fun
Another thing about this property not mentioned in the reviews I read is that there is access from the property to the trail system at Tucson Mountain Park. Miles and miles of trails! Great cactus and ocotillo groves and views! Plus great horned owls were hooting on the roof the night we arrived.

Fun and relaxing
We were in town for my son's baseball games at the Kino Complex. We had a great time and enjoyed the Castle. Dan was a great host and helped make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to coming back in a couple years and seeing the new additions to the place.
