About this house rental
This is a wonderful old Taos adobe home. The original house (now bedroom #2) was once the home of a family of 9-kitchen and bath then were outdoors. It is thought to be 250+ years old and is considered an historical property. Like many Taos homes it was added to in the ensuing years.
This home is delightful for a couple. It is a spacious home which is unusual for an old adobe. The layout is perfect for a couple and would be especially comfortable for two couples since the two good sized bedrooms each have full, private baths and are separated by the sunroom and great room. There is a queen sofa sleeper in the sunroom and in the great room is another queen sofa sleeper. Both have new gel foam mattresses Both have all bedding. Cost for these sofa sleepers is $25 per guest per night which can be left at departure.
The house is cozy in the winter due to thick adobe walls, two operable kiva fireplaces and very efficient gas heaters in great room and each of the two bedrooms.. There is always a good supply of firewood under the carport.
Summer is delightful and cool inside with screened operable windows and swamp coolers . Great for outdoor living with a covered deck off master bedroom and a wonderful front flagstone patio/ covered portal with table and chairs, BBQ and outdoor fireplace. The house is furnished with interesting antiques. sculpture and original art. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to produce those gourmet feasts or a quick snack for two. Bathroom #2 has a washer and dryer for those chores that call out even on vacation. The yard is fenced and well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional fee. ($10 per night per dog. which you may leave at the home."Mutt Mitts" are located in a decorative box outside and "Dog Sheets" provided inside for sofas and beds.
This home was featured on this summers Taos Home & Garden Tour in August for 500+ tour goers. This is my fourth home to be featured on a Tour! Too much fun and such a great compliment to my style!
We just finished re doing both baths with tile and new tubs and great tilework around all kiva fireplaces as well as new flagstone hearths and bancos (benches).
If my calendar shows this home as booked please look at Vrbo 273116 or Vrbo 860840. These are two and three bedroom homes that I also own in Taos.
The house has a wonderful, peaceful feeling and yet is only a few minutes from all Taos has to offer..good restaurants, shops, galleries, the Taos Pueblo and many great outdoor activities).
Keywords: cozy, yet spacious, beautifully decorated and mountain views too and pet friendly

Love it. Different.
Please check the rubber flapper in front restroom, doesn’t completely flush. Several spiders and bugs. Didn’t bother us.

Great traditional adobe home. Spacious with well equipped kitchen. Having a washer/dryer was a big plus. Very quiet and nice shaded outdoor dining area.

We enjoyed our stay here. There was plenty of room for all four of us. Our dog loved the fenced in yard. Some doorways are definitely short, but it just added to the ambiance! FYI: there is no dishwasher.

Charming is a great descriptor for this home! We really enjoyed our brief stay here. Our only regret was not having more time in Taos and at the house. Loved the quirky artwork and the feel of the place. Missing some modern amenities like a modern kitchen, but it honestly would feel out of place here. Very comfortable and cozy space. Everything was as advertised in the description. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

Classic Taos home with lots of art and a beautiful yard. We sat outside and watched the stars.

Wow. Like staying in a museum. Bedrooms stuffy, we slept in the pull out in the living room. Next time, ill bring an ouiji board and leave it. Wish we had more time, tho.

This place was dreamy - no one should stay only 1 night because the home is like a destination for relaxing, reading, meditating, or just bonding with a friend, partner, or family member. Go in May when the weather is perfect, and the lilacs are blooming -it's a place to be quiet and appreciate art.

Everything about the house was beautiful and cozy. Loved the fire places! As a 6’2 tall person, the bedroom doors and bathroom doors were really short, but my head a couple times but wasn’t a big deal. I would definitely stay here again except there was one big issue. The bedroom stove heaters didn’t work. After the first night we received a space heater for one of the rooms which did the trick. However, the other bedroom still did not have heat. Therefore, we slept without heat in the winter for one of the bedrooms. The host was very responsive and nice, but this aspect was unacceptable. Otherwise, great stay.

Charming vintage adobe home. Clean, cozy and warm. Kiva fireplace with ample piñon firewood, made mornings and nights lovely.
2 full baths, warm showers, 2 cozy beds for the 4 of us. Functional fully stocked kitchen with paper towels, coffee, sugar, salt/pepper. Full sized fridge. Large communal dining table.
Washing machine did not work, hoses were not connected and never could get an answer about getting clothes washed over a 5 day/ 4 night stay.

We love this house and feel so at home here. Our dogs are happy and peaceful and I always sleep so soundly. Melissa is super responsive and helpful!

This is a very old home with quirks so don’t expect it to be modern. We were disappointed to find there wasn’t any salt in the kitchen when we arrived...I didn’t think we would need to bring our own salt. Most of the pans were non-stick but had some damage so we didn’t use those. There was a cast iron skillet but it needs to be completely cleaned and reseasoned. That left one stainless steel pot to do all of our cooking in. There were only 2 of us so we made it work but for more people it could be a challenge. The home is in a quiet, rural area and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water and nice bathrooms. We had WiFi the first day but after that, we had to hotspot off my phone to have internet service.

Our group loved this home! we felt immersed in the architecture of New Mexico and all the artifacts and art of the area added to our stay. Though the floors are uneven and some of the entryways low this was not a problem for us. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Multiple outdoor seating areas enhanced our stay. This is one of our very best VRBO experiences and we recommend it highly.

This property has old Taos charm with a dose of funk. The yard for the dogs was nothing short of fabulous. We have stayed at other properties owned by this host, all of which have been great.

My elder cousin and my elder self (70s) wanted to feel the full ambiance of the Taos region and this 250 year old adobe home did not disappoint! Very secure, lovely location, and so much to take in with the home itself. Amenities for this older home were adequate and clean. (I would not recommended for anyone having walking issues as the irregularities of the floors go with the vintage of the home). I would highly recommend!

Very nice property. Enjoyed the stay. One bed sits pretty high, so most people would need a step stool.

Being over 6' had to be careful of low ceilings/doors but definitely enjoyed. Had a fire going every morning with coffee & then again every evening.

I wrote to the property manager concerning all the things that made our visit less than optimal, but she never replied. There are issues that need to be addressed at this location, but I really wanted to speak with the owner about them, and not the property manager who was not interested in the safety, repairs and cleanliness of the house.

We enjoyed the stay, but have a few suggestions for Melissa. The listing might include that there are uneven floors for information to help seniors like ourselves. Also that there are some steps to be aware of. The tub in the master bathroom might need a non-slip pad. The artwork and decor was intriguing and delightful. We enjoyed sitting at the dining table with our coffee and breakfast visiting. We were happy with the ceiling fans and the additional fans in our bedrooms. It was a terrific getaway for us and we appreciated the communication with Melissa very much.

We love this place. 2nd stay here. It's a little ways from the plaza... But wasn't an issue for us. Many great outdoor spaces... Dog-friendly/enclosed yard. No A/C (common there), was hot but nice evenings/mornings. Good sir flow w/ many doors & fans. Property Manager (Melissa) was available ∧ helpful. Would stay there again!

This property has great potential, but needs a bit of love and care.
I'll start with the good:
1. The home is spacious.
2. The kitchen is fully equipped.
3. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the home, providing privacy if two couples travel together.
4. The outdoor space was inviting.
Here are a few downsides:
1. There are holes in nearly every screen and the bugs inside the home were out of control after dark.
2. Individuals taller than 5'8" should not stay here. The ceilings and doorways are much shorter than standard buildings. I'm only 5'6" and hit my head 3 times!
3. There was no hand soap anywhere in the property; we resorted to dish soap. I don't usually bring this with me because it is always provided.
4. There is no air conditioning. Not a big deal usually, but the interior bedroom has only one window so it was unbearably too hot to sleep in, even with fans running.

We had a great stay at this beautifully decorated and comfortable listing. Will definitely book again on future trips to Taos.

We lived the historic nature of the home. Spent most of our time in the yard with our pups. Fire pit got a good work out. Great stay.

Wonderful property, so unique. Neighbors were a little loud, but it was 4th of July weekend, so to be expected.

We had a very fun stay. Weather was a bit warm , but this is New Mexico in July. Loved the artwork in the house and the outdoor seating areas. This property is well cared for and clean.

Super cute, charming, unique historic Adobe structure. Attention to detail with furnishings and artwork is noted. Home is comfortable, clean and well appointed. Home is easily accessible and within a short drive to shops and restaurants in Taos. Very enjoyable stay - thank you Melissa!

We had a great time. The place was very authentic Adobe and just what we were looking for. It had great decor.
We would like to stay again.

We loved relaxing in the outdoor yard, listening to birds and the wind in the trees. The house is cozy, nurturing, and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed. This is not a fancy place; instead it feels like home from start to finish. We appreciated the large fenced yard fr our dog.

Property is personification of NM casa from quirky decor to sloping floors.
Main criteria was finding a place for wife and I and our German Shepherd to pick up some art we had commissioned.
The large yard is fully fenced and completely secure to leave furry friend unattended.

Prior to arrival notified that the MB bath had no hot water as tank broke Owner kind enough to offer a partial refund for the inconvenience . We were lacking a few items that were necessary for our stay : communication with owner and Judy was excellent and issues resolved promptly. Home is lovely and charming as pictured in site. Area peaceful and quiet Views lovely from the garden Would definitely stay again ! Made good use of the Kivas

We had a great time. The property wasn't clean when we arrived, but the host accommodated us. the house is super cool and while out of the main part of town, navigating around Taos from this property is very easy

To start, the previous reviews about wifi and coffee- new nice coffee maker, good wifi. Good coffee provided. Cans of kindling and lighting material for kivas which was very nice on a snowy evening. Also a new Smart TV which was an upgrade. Newer fridge, very clean. Found the dog sheets easily in a basket in the dining area. The big gate works fine with drop bolts for security. This brings up a point- the owner has not updated this page to reflect these changes or addressed any negative comments and it seems endemic of a bit of neglect for this rental. Very cool old place, love the deco. Back yard fully enclosed but NOT the area off the back porch from Bedroom 1. Note: small gate in carport to fenced yard/back door is hard to keep closed, only really latches from the outside BEWARE- loose dogs around as the neighborhood is a bit sketch. The road can be a little scary as it is narrow and the locals drive it FAST. Some lovely views and peaceful scenes, close to town, but auto junkyards in near view. Better in summer when trees are leafed, lol. The large nicely landscaped yard is great for adults and cocktails but not small child safe- sharp edges on art, rocks, and open dropoff to back patio. Needs a new toaster. Kitchen is not that well set up if you cook a lot. Bring your own plastic wrap, foil, scissors. Steak knives needed. We bought a new manual can opener. Stove is old and broiler off kilter, not overly safe. Small soaps in bathrooms, a bottle of all purpose soap in bath. The place is on septic- no disposal or dishwasher. Coffee mugs for 5. We were comfortable but the place needs a good deep clean and the owner should walk it and make a punch list for small issues like broken fans and dead lightbulbs and other repairs and needed items. No response on our query about the stated portable crib and there was not one. We have used vacation rentals for 30 years and this is a solid 3.5, but priced accordingly. Nice if it is a good fit for your tastes and purposes. Try Antonio’s close by, they were on “Triple D” in November! And Taos Mesa Brewing by the Plaza was awesome and reliably open!
