About this cabin rental
Featured in Conde' Nast Traveler as one of the 13 best Blue Ridge Mountains Cabin in North Carolina and Virginia!
Lazy Bear Lodge is a beautiful hand-built log cabin with heart pine floors and exposed beams. The year-round long range view is fantastic as the cabin sits at an elevation of nearly 3,300 feet. In addition, the cabin is located on nearly 7 acres adjacent to Pinnacle Park with easy access to great hiking trails.
Couple of items to note:
*WILDLIFE AREA: the cabin is nestled at the edge of a wilderness which is inhabited by snakes, bears, mice and other animals.
- NC Black Rat Snake: These snakes are pretty common in the area and you may see one during your stay. They are harmless but can be intimidating due to their size.
- NC Black Bear: It wouldn't be Lazy Bear Lodge without a bear sighting from time to time. We use bear proof trash cans at the property
*GRAVEL ROAD TO THE CABIN: Once inside the neighborhood, there is a single lane 1/3 mile gravel road. It is not considered steep for the area but may be intimidating for guests who have never driven on a gravel mountain road especially if arrival is after dark. There is a hairpin turn near the top. Please contact us if you have concerns about the gravel road and we can share photos and videos. You will not need a 4 wheel drive unless there is snow or ice.
The secluded outdoor area complete with a hot tub, fire pit, grill, picnic table and bistro lights is one of the highlights of our cabin. Many of our guests tell us they start the day with coffee on the porch rockers and end the day with s'mores at the fire pit. Some even tell us they never leave the property!
Lazy Bear Lodge is located just minutes from downtown Sylva, about 20 minutes from the Cherokee Casino and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and about 30 minutes from Ghost Town in the Sky, Cataloochee Ski Resort, and Maggie Valley. Asheville and the Biltmore Estate is about a 45 minute drive from the cabin.
The home has everything you need for a great weekend or vacation including a well stocked kitchen and a large farm table.
This cabin will consider 1 dog on a case to case basis. Additional $125, non refundable pet fee will apply.

Had an amazing time this cabin was upscale and beautiful. Included everything we could possibly need snacks and special touches.

Our stay at Lazy Bear was great! The cabin was very clean and we were welcomed with the most thoughtful arrival gifts including local treats and snacks, extra supplies and even a treat bag for our dog. The view is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the sunset reflect off the mountains. The weather was nice and the area has many hikes and waterfalls to enjoy. I highly recommend driving the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great rustic cabin, easy to get to with an amazing view. It was well stocked with kitchen Utensils, and firewood. Rustic yet modernized with great wifi, and streaming TV shows. The layout allowed us various options from relaxing in the living room ,porch or at the firepit or in the jacuzzi. Sylva is minures away with great resturaunts and , parks. Overall an exceptional place to stay!! Thanks to Trisha for being a great host!!

Very cozy and beautifully decorated. Gorgeous view of the mountains. Spotless. Well-stocked kitchen (appliances) altho an air fryer would be nice. And maybe more rugs. My one complaint is the uncomfortable mattress on the downstairs bed, and the pillows, as I prefer down and usually bring my own, but I forgot this time. We didn't use the firepit or the hottub, so I can't speak to that. Would definitely return.

This was truly a great Vrbo experience. The property and views were amazing. The attention to the little details were great. Plenty to do in and around Sylva. Would love to come back some day!

Our stay was awesome. The cabin was comfortable and the hosts have really put a lot of thought into making their guests feel at home. The coffee bar, the extra blankets for taking to the fire pit, and the welcome gifts are a just a few things that were extra special touches. The cabin is very clean and well organized! Sitting on the porch and enjoying the amazing view every morning was peaceful and relaxing! The cabin is very private and quiet while only being a short drive away from town. We also appreciate being able to bring our dog who also had a great stay. The cabin had everything we needed and more! We def hope to be back!

Exceeded expectations! Loved our stay.

My husband and I stayed in this lovely cabin so that we would be near the Great Smokey Mountain national Park and other sweet mountain towns. Our plans were to specifically go Elk watching near Cherokee.
This cabin was the perfect place to be positioned to see so many things in the area. We especially loved Sylva....a true working Mountian town.
One word of caution; if you have a large truck or SUV, plan to have someone available to help you in the backing up out of the parking area.
This is a memorable cabin.

Others have vividly described the beauty of the cottage and its surroundings. I'd like to highlight the owner, Trisha, who could not have been more considerate and helpful. You won't find an owner more pleasant to deal with. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful experience.

This log cabin on the mountainside is absolutely beautiful! We LOVED the views and the fire pit and hot tub! The inside of this log cabin was clean and homey with all amenities you may want or need. We liked that it was far enough to enjoy the woods and have peace & quiet but also close enough to Sylva and Dillsboro to grab a bite to eat and close to the Blueridge Parkway :) we very much enjoyed our stay- thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

We loved our stay at this beautifully peaceful mountain cabin. The views were breathtaking, the home was immaculate and it was convenient to many hiking and dining locations. The drive up to the house was a little sketchy, but a small price to pay for this dreamy location. We hope to be back again in the future!

My friends and I stayed at this cabin for a weekend getaway and had a great experience! Super easy to get in contact with the host, no issues finding the place, the house is lovely, and there’s tons to do in the nearby area even on rainy days.

We loved our time at this cabin! It worked perfectly for our family of four(two kiddos ages 4 and 2). It had everything we needed, along with a few extras and treats. The property was fun to explore, close to great hiking at Pinnacle park, and within driving to skiing, asheville, and fun mountain towns. Sylva was also a great place for breweries!

My husband and I took our two young children to this charming cabin and couldn’t have been more pleased by every bit of our stay! Trisha, our host, was so communicative and helpful throughout our trip. The property was incredibly clean and welcoming. We stayed for the weekend and cooked hot dogs and s’mores by the fire pit both nights. The views were amazing too. I would strongly suggest booking this property, we cannot wait to return for another trip soon!!

We enjoyed every moment at this cabin. Looking forward to coming back in the spring.

Amazing!!! Charmingly rustic cabin with modern amenities, (limited internet) but sometimes a little less internet is good for the soul. The hostess didn't miss one creature comfort (welcome snacks, possibly forgotten toiletries) and a fully stocked kitchen. We stayed in and cooked about every night and there wasn't a utensil/receptacle that wasn't available in the kitchen. Far enough out that you didn't hear a sound but only 10 - 15 minutes away from a convenience/grocery store/restaurant. The in-cabin coffee bar was a big hit with her. If you are looking for a restful get-a-way cabin this is the place.

The property and house are as beautiful as advertised! Communication with the owner was excellent as was her hospitality with all of the special touches at the cabin. I highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay there again!
